cheers insertexpletive, i am going to get some. Do you just have the odd one or can you get away with eating a bag?

saltcod · 16/09/2010 10:55

I'm sure I read somewhere that he recommends up to 4 sugar free sweets per day! That might just be in attack though.

So far, so good today - oatbran porridge for breakfast.

Well done on the first stone Pandabear - that's a fab result and I'm very Envy

Hey all

Glad to see a lot of losers on here :)

I lost 2lb last week wich is good considering it's the TOTM. That's a total of 36lb now.
I am so impressed with this diet. Still finding it fairly easy and am totally motivated but that's probably because I am losing still.

I have cheated on occassion but I think that's what keeps us going tbh.

I decided I would treat myself to a cooked breakfast on Saturday. I get Gills sausages as they seem low in Carbs and fat and just get normal smoked bacon. To be honest I didn't enjoy it as much as I used to. It all tasted so fatty, even though I cooked it on the George Foreman Grill.

I used the rest of the sausages up in a sausage casserole just made with Sausages, canned tomatoes, onions and red peppers and a splash of worcester sauce. Now that was tasty. Yes I know sausages are off the menu but sometimes you need to break from it.

Well keep up the good work all. Sorry if I have been ignorant and not answered any questions for anyone but I am at work having a break and have only had chance to skim through. Will catch up properly later.
xx

I want a whoosh.

I WANT A WHOOSH!!!

insertexpletive · 16/09/2010 16:59

I think 4 sweets a day is the official limit, but I would be lying if I said that I stuck to that Blush I guess I just think that if I am going to cheat I may as well try and cheat 'well' iyswim.

Lottie the ketchup is acutally really quite nice Smile

Katisha are you having wheat bran as well as oat bran?

Katisha · 16/09/2010 17:13

No - why? Will it get me off this plateau?

Oatbran is very good at keeping you umm, regular Grin which should help in maintaining a consistant weight loss. I have it everyday with oatbran in two yoghurts.

Katisha · 16/09/2010 20:51

Hmm. Might get some wheatbran as well then. Thanks. (although actually I haven't really had problems in the poo department...)

I don't know - I have gone off the boil a bit. I think a carb-up day or two is no bad thing but now this seems to have degenerated into random eating of carby things - nothing major, but annoying once I've done it. And pp days have gone by the board as we have hundreds of runner beans in the garden still and tomatoes falling off the plants....

Must get a grip.

dott · 16/09/2010 23:23

oat and bran works for me too, plus actimel and/or yakult lite

I'm back from a works-related 2 days aways when I had to eat like a 'normal' person in service stations/cafes and consequently ate fish & chips, cakes etc etc. I also had 2 large glasses of wine last night and the result has been (after 2 weeks of effectively no loss)...less than 1lb gain. Which is good. But it does have me wondering about whether this diet is not really for me. Before the carb-fest I had lost about 8.5 lbs in over 4 weeks, which so much less than everyone else.

I shall now read up on your link Lottie, and try to cut out heavy carb but I might now experiment with low-cal + some carbs for a few days, so half-Dukan and see what happens. I may crawl back soon though as I still have a deadline dress to fit into..

bingogirl · 17/09/2010 13:36

Just wanted to say Hi, I have just joined mumsnet although my sons are 22 and almost 21 :) I started on Dukan on 6 September and did 5 days attack phase during which I lost 6lbs. I have lost another 2lbs on the cruise phase but have not lost anything for the last 2 days. I will persevere with the help of this site :o

dott · 17/09/2010 14:38

I am struggling at the moment. Good day so far but hanging by a thread. Need to go to bed but the lovely dc's prohibit that.

Gah!

How are the rest of you faring?

zippy539 · 17/09/2010 16:15

Hi everyone - well done to all of you for sticking with this, I'm de-lurking from this thread to seek your words (and recipes) of wisdom!

I'm on day 4 of the Dukan (2 day attack, one day PV, today PP) and I'm finding it a mighty struggle.

I'm doing fine without wine, bread, biscuits etc but I'm finding it impossible to find stuff that I like that obeys the rules. I don't eat meat (but happily eat fish and quorn) - but after four days of this lark I feel like I'm turning into a prawn shaped blob of eggy low fat yoghurt. I'm really annoyed at myself for not getting into the swing of this but desperately need to find recipes for PP days. So far today I've had oatbran porridge (nice - also don't mind the gallettes), anchovies and eggs (interesting)and a low fat yoghurt - I'm starving purely because I can't think what else to eat despite ploughing through the recipe book. Thought I might have a bash at a prawn/fish curry for tea (though tempted to cheat by using some passata for the sauce) and wondering how I can bear a curry without a wodge of nan to dip into it.

Please give me a kick up the arse and tell me what your favourite PP meals are. I've lost four pounds since Tuesday which is fab but put one back on this morning - I'm sure because my body has gone into starvation mode which is the opposite to the intention of the diet!

zippy539 · 17/09/2010 16:18

Off to tesco now to aimlessly wander the aisles. Might have to lick the outside of a jar of Hellman's mayo while I'm there...

AspieGirl · 18/09/2010 01:40

My books should arrive tomorrow (or Monday if the Postie is mean)...hope it works for me

:)

saltcod · 18/09/2010 09:16

Well, had a mini "whoosh" today & lost 1.5 lb overnight. So glad that I managed to stay away from the choc croissants at work yesterday now!

Zippy, have you got the book? There are lots of recipes in that, otherwise if you google Dukan recipes that brings up lots of sites. But it's a very hard diet for a non eat-meater to follow as it's so meat orientated.

Moonshine, can sympathise with the slow weight loss - mine is now 6lb in 3 weeks, although I did have a few birthday celebrations in the middle of that. I'm trying to step up the exercise to hurry the weightloss, so am doing the 30 day shred dvd and plan to start running again this weekend (I have a treadmill) so have printed off the couch to 5k plan.

Off to check on my ommelette :) Have a good weekend everyone!

dott · 18/09/2010 09:44

I ended up in carb land yesterday, it wasn't as good as I imagined and funnily enough did not utterly stuff myself but had wine, biscuits etc

today going to just have protein, had a couple of chops for breakfast ommelette for lunch and fish for later

Hello :) Really glad to find this thread, mind if I join in? Your success stories are really inspiring. Started Dukan two weeks ago, did 7 days of Attack.

So far 7lbs off. I have the book, but can't bring myself to book in for coaching on the website (would rather save the cash and buy new clothes in - ooh - 2012, which is when it's predicted I'll be safely at target for good!) Wink Bit of a glitch at a buffet yesterday - started well with sashimi, fish, beef ... but a couple of glasses of wine later found myself with an empty creme brulee bowl ... Back to work today!

A couple of questions - it is really hard to find 0% dairy where I live in the Middle East. Do you think Low Fat is a disaster?

Also, what is a 30-day shred? It sounds drastic and could be what I need ..!

saltcod · 18/09/2010 12:15

Hi & welcom Katel. I often find it hard to find 0% fat diary too, even in the UK, so I quite often just use the lowest fat I can find. I think staying away from the carbs is the main thing. The 30 day shred is a fitness dvd which only takes 20 mins per day - just google it. It's intense but easy to fit in coz it's so short.

Londonlottie I know what you mean about buggy pushing. DS weighs 2 stone & only goes in the buggy for longer walks but even with my beloved mountain buggy it's still a struggle up the hills. A good workout though!

Right, off to hang out the washing then do my 30 day shred dvd - day 5 now :)

OK I did a proper protein only day yesterday and will today as well. Will have to have veg tomorrow as can't bear MIL making comments if she sees me eating weirdly at Sunday lunch...(She is used to the no spuds thing but no veg as well might tip her over the edge...)

Anyway... Zippy yes its a tough diet to choose if you are vegetarian. I think you will just have to put up with looking like a piece of fish! There are a lot of "recipes" in the book but they all seem to be egg-based creations or else meat with an assortmet of different vinaigrettes, or egg-based sauces.

I accidentally found some chilli-based dips in Tesco (next to the tortilla crisps) that seemed to be low fat and low carb and a spoon of that on the omelette spiced things up considerably for a while!

Kate the zero fat dairy thing - well get as low fat as poss, but as mentioned, do look at the carb count as well as you can end up merrily mainlining yoghurt and find you have eaten a ton of sugar during the day. We all use the low fat yoghurt as a crutch to get us through, and as a vehicle for the bran, but I think it's a mistake to overdo it.
