Well I am still here on diet, but haven't lost anything since last week. Have decided to carry on for another week to see how I do. Well done to all of you who are doing really well. Have ordered book, hopefully that & all of you will spur me on.

uggmum · 08/05/2010 20:36

Thanks Pinky,
I have been walking, the book says 20 mins brisk walk a day. I didn't manage this for 2 days, so I went on a good 4 mile walk later in the week.

I made a sauce today with no fat yogurt, garlic and mint. It was very nice. I find that the dryness of meat is getting a bit repetitive so the sauce breaks up the boredom.

Keep drinking the water it helps flush out the fat.

Morning all!
Just checking in to say that I weighed this morning and I've lost 2 pounds! Pretty pleased as before yesterday I'd been doing protein and veg everyday for 10 days before I realised that wasn't right! So yesterday was my first day of attack on pure protein!
I'm glad because last night our friends were round for dinner and drinks and I was so tempted to have a glass of wine but I abstained and now I can see that it's definitely been worthwhile!

Janieann - what stage of the diet are you on? Don't giveup hope as the book not only gives you proper diet advice but has excellent info on nutrition and a section on weight and women so it may be of use to you.

Have been doing coursework all weekend so haven't got out for any exercise since Thursday so I really need to make an effort for that.

So have you all got goals? Be it a certain size of jean or an upcoming event that you want to be extra foxy for?

janieann · 09/05/2010 11:14

Hi all,
Thanks for advise Pinky, half my problem is that I usually have 2 dinners a week to go to (usually set meals), so I don't get a choice of what to eat. Last night was lamb, so what's a girl to do? And yes I do have to go to them!

I do protein Mon- Thurs & protein & veg Fri- Sun.

Anyone got any ideas, I am still off my initial goal by 1 stone, although ideally I would like to lose 3!

insertexpletive · 10/05/2010 12:48

Hello all.

I am now on day 11 and have lost 10lbs!

Really happy, but have now decided to only weigh myself weekly, as know that loss will slow down and do not want to fret too much about it.

I am struggling a bit missing snacks - sugar free chewing gum is now my best friend!

Hope everyone is well.

uggmum · 10/05/2010 13:53

Managed to get thru a family bbq, carbs everywhere, potatoes, crisps and garlic bread.

I nearly cried when they brought out the chocolate cake.

But, I stayed firm!

Hi,

well done everyone!

I hope you don't mind me joining, i have had this book for about a week now after reading about it on here but have not started yet due to day at races friday (drinks drinks drinks, i know not a good excuse) but didnt plan on starting until after friday anyway. excuses excuses - it will be my first day tomorrow so let the weight loss begin!!!(fingers crossed anyway)

mrswill · 10/05/2010 18:15

Well have weighed an I've lost 2lb, but to be fair, I've cheated a fair bit, with icecream cake an allsorts. So only 7 more pound to go, but I've been on a diet since January! How much weight would everyone else like to lose?

Am finding I'm struggling with cravings in the pv days an find the pp days a lot easier. Wish I could stick with just pp, but it seems unhealthy to just live on protein. Well done all who have lost.

mrswill · 10/05/2010 18:18

Well done uggmum, wish I had your reserve in the face of nice food! Think you deserve a medal for resisting that chocolate cake.

PinkyWithABrain · 10/05/2010 18:23

Hey all! I'm on my final day of the attack phase and I'll be honest...it's been hard though I have not given in!
I weighed this morning and I've lost 7 pounds :-) so so pleased and loads of people have been commenting on my slimmer silhouette!

Mrswill - my goal is to get down to 9.5 stone. I've a stone and a half to go (currently 11) but I am very confident that I will get there! I've a wedding to go to on 10th June and then off to Portugal in September (volcanic ash permitting) so I have milestones along the way. The thought of me in a bikini is driving me through the tough times!

Can't wait to eat some veg tomorrow...really really missing them!

Anyone found that this diet is costing a fortune?!

PinkyWithABrain · 10/05/2010 18:26

And yes uggmum - mrs will is right, you do deserve a medal! There were buns in work this morning and I really did want one so bad I could have cried!

Just think once we finish the cruise phase we can have something tasty! I'm gonna make my first celebration meal something amazing!!

insertexpletive · 10/05/2010 20:33

I wish people at work would stop bringing in cakes and biscuits! It is killing me!

I have not cheated yet for fear of falling off the wagon. I am off on a girls weekend in a couple of weeks though and there is no way that I can promise not to let alcohol pass my lips.
I have a total of 3 stone to lose in an ideal world, but would actually settle for 2 as that would be the slimmest I have been for years.

I need to try and find some savoury snacks to replace nuts and crisps. The trouble is, if I have anything that is ok to eat in moderation, I am likely to overendulge, so maybe not such a good idea.

Well done everyone - this thread is going to be my lifesaver over the coming few months.

PinkyWithABrain · 10/05/2010 22:04

Yes let's keep this thread alive - it really does help!

Insertexpletive - if you really have to drink try and drink something low cal ie vodka or else have wine spritzer and make sure the mixer is calorie free if poss! I did this 2 weekends ago at a house party and made a bottle of rose last all night and I was always sipping away at a drink!

My whole office is on a health kick at the moment due to a health promotions initiative that's going on but it's really getting on my goat as some of the other women are continuously telling me, "oh there's no way that diet could be healthy" etc... And particularly going on about "everything is ok in moderation" whilst attempting to talk through a mouthful of cake! Grr it rages me! So yes insertexpletive I agree with you - everything in moderation doesn't work for me as I don't know when to stop! I work best to rigid rules and I won't dare cheat at all because I couldn't trust myself!

Apologies for the rambling post...I'm in a pp blur today...just made my salad for lunch tomorrow and I am so excited about eating veg! I have the scrummiest cherry tomatoes and I swear I could eat the whole box now!!

Keep it up ladies - we're gonna be splendidly slender in no time

PinkyWithABrain · 10/05/2010 22:09

Oops forgot about snack reccomendations...

I'm having cooked chicken breast or turkey slices and although they're a bit dry and boring they fill me up and are additional protein.

On pv days my face snack is carrot sticks...yum I love the sweetness however I'm not sure if you're supposed to have carrots but I keep reading conflicting reports.

Also can't beat the muller light fat free yoghurts! Not savoury but very tasty!

I am always open to new recipe/snack ideas so please feel free to share! I'm going to make red pepper soup at the weekend and have it for snacks on pv days. If it's tasty I will share the recipe!

mychildsachild · 10/05/2010 23:42

Well I am going to give the Dukan diet a go. I don't believe I will ever lose my extra 2 and a half stone but my friends are shedding the pounds on this. I am too embarrassed to tell them I'm joining in, so I'm sharing with mumsnet instead.Has anyone not lost any weight in the first week????

insertexpletive · 11/05/2010 11:33

Thanks Pinky.

I think that carrots are ok in moderation - not at every meal.
I am not letting work friends know what I am doing re diet although they do give me strange looks when I turn down cakes (clearly I was usually scoffing them!)

Like you, I have had a few negative comments from friends that this is an unhealthy way to lose weight, but so far it is working and cutting out all the sugars and processed meals I was eating can not be that bad!

I am finding it quite expensive though.

Welcome mychild - I have not heard of anyone who has not lost in the first week, but I guess if you move from one diet to another that may effect the number of lbs lost - Good luck!

janieann · 11/05/2010 12:32

Hi all

Looking for advice as have been suffering with the runs for the last 2 days (&last week), just wondering if anyone else has & what to do. Usually would have some toast or rice, but not sure what to do. Don't know if it's my body telling me to eat carbs!

mychildsachild · 11/05/2010 13:35

Sorry to hear you've got the runs, if it uncomfortable. Personally I wouldn't mind, as my body thinks there's a nuclear war imminent and holds every bit of what I eat for as long as possible!
Are you eating eggs? "to bind yo" as my mother would say.
Can't believe I wasn't hungry yesterday!

insertexpletive · 11/05/2010 13:40

Hi Janieann - I've experienced this twice in the last 10 days, on both occasions did not last longer than 24 hours.

I did not change my eating habits and it seemed to clear up by itself. Not nice whilst it lasts though.

janieann · 11/05/2010 16:51

Thanks for advice. I succumbed earlier to a breadstick, it tasted really good. Don't know whether to continue as lots of people telling me can't be good(I have lots of health issues). Plus I have not lost anything for 9 days now & its really annoying especially as I have been so restrained. Will give it till end of the week & see.

ThePinkOne · 11/05/2010 20:32

Lol! I read the title as Dunkin Donut! Thanks for giving me a

uggmum · 12/05/2010 14:49

Hi all, I am still plodding on, had some cabbage on sunday but have been protein only all week. I havn't weighed myself yet. I may wait until Sat.
I havn't craved anything for the past few days. Still tired though. I don't know if it affects your sleep but I have had really strange dreams and disturbed sleep since I started it.

OP posts:
loopydoopy · 12/05/2010 16:07

Hi on my 2nd day now and not as hungry as i thought i was going to be but iam sure that will change....really hard having a 6yr old in the house with her treats and stuff all winking at me and calling my name but have not touched. A girl at work today asked if i wanted a slice of cake and i said NO how good am i!! (dont know how long that will last)
Hope everyone is doing ok

insertexpletive · 13/05/2010 16:18

Hello!

Just wondered how everyone is doing...?

SuperSoph73 · 13/05/2010 16:24

Hey there, may I join please. I'm on Day 4 and have lost 2.5kgs so far. TBH it's getting harder but am looking forward to be able to have veg this evening with my dinner as today was the start of the cruise phase. I was surprised that I didn't feel hungry as such at the end of the first day, but the urge to have "just one" glass of wine at the end of the day was quite strong I must admit However, I stayed strong
