Hi on day 3 today and wasnt going to weigh myself until tomorrow following 3 days of attack but weighed myself this morning and i have lost 3lb in 2 days WOW!! looking forward to having veg tomorrow, never thought i would hear myself saying that

mrswill · 13/05/2010 22:36

Hello all,

Have been very naughty here to be honest, and have just finished 2 days of being a pig around food. I need a good kick up the arse basically. And have just seen some lovely drunken photos of me posted on that bloody FB from 2 weeks ago, in which I look pretty hefty, so feeling down.

Am back on the horse tomorrow, and will start back on the attack!

uggmum · 13/05/2010 22:57

Mrs Wills, just sending you a friendly 'kick', good luck back on the attack phase x

Feeling very pleased with myself as went out for dinner with friends last night - had baked fish, gave friends the (really lovely looking) potatoes that came with it and had salad with balsamic dressing instead.

No wine and no dessert!

Weight seems to be coming off at a slower pace now that am on the cruise stage, but two weeks in have lost 12lbs and feeling great!

Will start the 30 day shred DVD this weekend too so hope that this will help to keep up the momentum...

SuperSoph73 · 14/05/2010 13:14

Well done loopydoopy and insertexpletive I don't know whether I'd have that sort of will power! What's the 30 day shred DVD btw?

Virtual kick from me too MrsWills

I was naughty yesterday and had a biscuit but, in my defence, it was a diet one at only 49 calories . That will probably explain why, when I got on the scales this morning, I hadn't lost any weight. Although I'm still chuffed with what I have lost, seeing as I only started on Monday. I also haven't started exercising yet so will have to get off my backside and start. Even I couldn't believe how much I was looking forward to eating veg yesterday as I'm not a fan at all I did beef with aromatic cabbage & even DH commented on how yummy it was.

mychildsachild · 16/05/2010 19:59

Hi, well I thought this was the diet for me!
However after starting at 12st 8lbs falling to 12st 0 and now rising back up to 12st 6lbs in 7 days, I find my cynicism was quite appropriate as I never lose any weight! I have followed the diet rigidly and only lapsed once with a slice of pizza and a spritzer. I have forced down 2 litres of water every day and actually not struggled too much with the diet. To be honest after seeking out the best diet, getting my thyroid checked twice! cycling and walking everywhere. (I can run 5k not too traumatically, I have just about reached my limit!!!! My doctor doesn't believe me and nor does anyone else. I'm going now as my blog is turning into a rant and I may cry again. Well done to everyone who is losing the pounds, if it's working for you the keep going.x

SuperSoph73 · 18/05/2010 13:01

Sorry to hear that mychildsachild, I hope you find something that suits you

loopydoopy · 18/05/2010 14:14

sorry to hear that mychildsachild, as supersoph73 says i hope you find something that suits too x

i have just finished my first week (3day attack then the cruise) i have lost 4lb, this 4lb being after the 3 day attack phase and nothing after that. i think i am going to continue and see what happens after another week with the weight loss (fingers crossed) but finding it hard to come up with tasty meals that will keep me interested at the mo so we will see.

how is everyone doing?

SuperSoph73 · 18/05/2010 16:03

Hey loopydoopy. Well it's been exactly a week and I've lost 4kgs, which I think is 8lbs, more or less. I did 3 days on the attack & am now on the cruise. I know what you mean about interesting meal ideas. I've been scouring websites for interesting ways to do veg so even if the meat gets boring the veg doesn't iyswim. I also haven't started exercising yet, which I may attempt to do today but am full of a head cold so am not in the best frame of mind to start!

DH started the diet yesterday so we'll see how that goes as he's never attempted a "proper" diet before. Unfortunately his job is such that he never actually stops & sits somewhere to have lunch & he point blankly refuses to have breakfast so he's been constantly hungry

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 18/05/2010 20:03

Hello, mind if I join you? I started this today with the attack phase - I'm going to try and make it to the weekend, but it's going to be hard I think. My mouth was watering when I gave DS hot chocolate and toast for supper. Great to hear about others' weight loss though, so I'm hanging onto that for now.

I'd love to hear any tips too.

uggmum · 18/05/2010 22:01

Hi, I am now on beginning of week 4. I have stayed on attack but have veg once a week. Also taking multi-vitamins.
I am exercising 2/3 times a week. Been on 4 mile hike today and thought I was going to faint as a bit weak from no carbs.
For the first 2 weeks I craved everything. I even dreamt about cake. However, during week three the craving disappeared. Most of the time I am not hungry and have to force myself to eat.
I have now lost a total of 16 pounds. Great result. I am going to continue for the next 2 weeks, I am then going on holiday for a week and will then resume until August. My goal is to lose 3 stone in total.

mychildsachild · 18/05/2010 22:38

Thanks for the hug, I really needed it!
I have stayed on the attack and I am now on day 9! I would normally be craving for veg now as I usually eat lots but to be honest I don't really care about food at the moment. On the attack phase I am eating more than I normally would. IT WOULD BE NICE IF MY BODY WOULD LEARN TO LET GO A LITTLE OF THE FAT INSTEAD OF JUST LOOKING LIKE I'VE LET IT GO!

janieann · 19/05/2010 09:24

Hi all,

I haven't posted for a while as I was hoping to lose more weight but annoyingly I haven't! So I have sort of given up on the dukan but doing my own thing of watching what I eat & avoiding carbs when I can. Will let you all know how I get on.....

SuperSoph73 · 19/05/2010 13:22

Hey there. I weighed myself today and I must have reached my first plateau so to speak, as I haven't lost anything for a couple of days now. I was going to start my exercise regime today but woke up at 3am feeling like I'd swallowed a packet of razor blades so I think I'll wait until I feel better before punishing myself further!

uggmum - just a question but shouldn't you do, for eg 3 days attack then 3 days cruise, 3 days attack, 3 days cruise, etc? Isn't it bad for you to solely do the attack phase but just add in veg once a week? I don't mean to sound critical and the only info I have on this diet is the stuff I've found on the internet so forgive me if I'm wrong, I'm just curious

Hi to TBoS - only 1 tip really from me and that is drink plenty as I seem to dehydrate really quickly on this diet

mychildsachild - hope you don't mind me asking but do you have a lot on your mind apart from wanting to lose weight? Just a thought that there might be another reason why it's not working for you (although I appreciate that not every diet works for everyone) and why you're not that particularly interested in food either.

janieann - yes, please let us know how you get on.

uggmum · 19/05/2010 15:13

Hi supersoph, I don't necessarily think it's bad for you, but I am a bit of a rule breaker to be honest.
In the book Dr Dukan uses an example of a man that only eats meat for a month and he lost 22 pounds, he then added veg after that.
I have added the multi-vitamins so hopefully that will help. I liken it to the protein only diets, such as lighter life and cambridge diet, you only have shakes with them and they are deemed ok.
At the moment it's working so I tend not to think of the negatives. Am completely knackered though.

loopydoopy · 19/05/2010 16:45

SuperSoph73 - wow well done, wish it had worked that well for me...AF arrived today so that could be the reason for the no more weight coming off after the 3 day attack, that and not doing any exercise yet , how's your DH finding it?

TheBuggerofSuburbia - welcome, i havnt found it too hard (although a little boring, but then im no delia in the kitchen so finding it hard to have anything interesting) but can completely understand when you say about your DS supper, it is hard with the LO's treats hanging round.

the only time i have been hungry was on monday night but i think that was because DP and DD were both eating lovely no-diet things and could have given in then

has anyone else found it hard to get oat bran? if not where did you get it?

fromhereyoucanseethesea · 19/05/2010 17:53

help!! have done this for 3 days and i think i am eating too much...plus a few questions - diet coke (yes or no) and if pork is a no, no...how come bacon and ham? also 'deli' is that packet like asda extra special wiltshire or wafer thin? so confused....

MrsFawlty · 19/05/2010 18:03

Hello. I've never heard of this diet beofre, could it work for a vegetarian?

fromhereyoucanseethesea · 19/05/2010 18:15

how fond of eggs are you? the first phase is meat, eggs....unlike atkin's cream, dairy and cheese etc are cut out...

MrsFawlty · 19/05/2010 18:23

Eggs are good. Could you have quorn and tofu too? And do you just eat what you want so long as it's protein or are there set amounts?

loopydoopy · 19/05/2010 18:39

Hi fromhereyoucanseethesea why do you think you are eating too much? diet coke is fine as long as it is 1cal per glass...not too sure on the pork but bacon and ham bit (hang on let me get the book), its too fatty and not rich enough in protein, may the ham and bacon is due to being from different parts, cant answer that sorry and i have been eating the wafer thin stuff and thats worked for me....i hope that helps

MrsFawlty it depends on what you can eat as a vegetarian as this diet is based on pure protein foods which then introduces veg in the second phase. if you do not eat anything from animal protein it states it becomes harder to do....sorry maybe not much help, maybe someone else can help more

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 19/05/2010 18:49

Hello, day 2 here. I got oat bran from Holland and Barrett (it was on offer too) and made it into a little bit of porridge with sweetener and skimmed milk before bed last night. I'm wiped out today, but DS is a rubbish sleeper, and he's got cold at the moment, so waking up even more often than usual. And work has been very busy, so I don't think I'm more knackered than I usually am.

Anyway, I'm drinking (and peeing!) loads - I feel permanently thirsty, even though I reckon I've doubled my usual water intake. I hope that's a good sign.

I love food and cooking, last night I had salmon with scallops with a little garlic, soy and herbs. Tonight, it's chicken breasts with a little bit of light soft cheese and chives, wrapped in a slice of parma ham - I reckon that will be ok, because the fat in one slice is negligible, cooking it will drain a lot it away, and I'll remove the visible fat. I do think it's going to be expensive though.

M&S have lots of their deli stuff on 3 for £5, the packs of cooked and sliced chicken are good for lunch so far.

I reckon pork will be ok, certainly the lean cuts like fillet - in this country, all the fat has been bred out of pork over the years, and it's pretty lean - I think French pigs might be a bit more lardy.

Those of you who have lost weight - have you also lost inches?

fromhereyoucanseethesea · 19/05/2010 18:49

thank you!! really keen to hear how everyone is doing !

loopydoopy · 19/05/2010 18:59

i have been peeing for england which is a good sign but not very good during the night!!!

i'll try holland and barret thanks

i didnt measure myself before hand so not sure on losing inches but my trousers have become less snug so i guess i have

insertexpletive · 19/05/2010 20:22

Hello everyone

I am still hanging on in there... I will be three weeks in on Friday and am hoping to have hit 14lbs!

I am not finding it too tough to be honest, but need to make sure that I am a bit more prepared when I am on the road with work - motorway service stations are not the best places to find protein!

I am lucky to have a Marks and Spencer around the corner from work and have been having a pack of lean ham slices and/or lean chicken slices for lunch. They are only £1 each, so actually less expensive than my normal lunch

I have found a good sugar free ketchup which is helping my red meat go down better.

I did not measure before I started the diet, but am back in size 16 trousers (was a tight 18 before) so happy enough with that. Really hoping to be a size 14 by the end of July!
