Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

How could I forget the skipping - that's definately worse. The star jump and skipping combo is a nightmare!

GoldenSnitch · 13/04/2010 10:00

What do I need for when my copy arrives then?

A rope and some weights?

Anything else?

Feenie · 13/04/2010 10:36

No, you pretend-skip (like an eejit) with an imaginary rope.

Honest - I am not being sarky!

It is, justaminute - I could just about cope with one or the other, but the combo is challenging!

ClaireDeLoon · 13/04/2010 10:50

Oh hurrah I don't have pelvic floor issues, one thing on me that isn't actually broken!

I'm not very achey today I don't think I pushed myself hard enough.

I'm using 1kg weights and it felt hard work. I will keep at the same weights but try and concentrate on doing the exercises better, you know the bits where she says if you're like this 'adopts bad posture' you're doing it wrong. Well I was usually doing it wrong.

twinkle183 · 13/04/2010 16:37

Have my copy here and am actually too scared to use it...! Isn't this Jillian from Biggest Loser???? to be honest that frightens me!!!!

Am starting zumba classes on Friday as well as doing some treadmill training...! But thought I would see what you girlies think of this dvd...

Should I just grab the bull by the horns and do it?

Joby1970 · 13/04/2010 16:44

twinkle yep its jillian from Biggest loser - hse's great on it - just makes you do the workout - go for it

LostGirl · 13/04/2010 16:45

Honestly twinkle, you can do this. If you can do the Hannah Waterman one then you can do thisit is so much shorter. By the time you think you are going to die there are only 5 minutes left. Go for it!

ClaireDeLoon · 13/04/2010 19:36

Twinkle if I can do it anyone can, particularly as you're already active. I think the trainer is nice and quite motivating.

Just did it again, 2nd day. I REALLY can't do the push-ups, I'm hoping that maybe in a week or so they will seem easier and I'll actually be able to the 30 secs or whatever it is of them. I follow the beginner lady.

Squidmission · 13/04/2010 21:09

Great to see so many people doing this!
I missed 2 days but am intending to get back to it tomorrow. I love the fact that its so short yet effective.

I think I'm going to switch to heavier weights for better results. 1kg is probably too light for me.

justaminute · 13/04/2010 21:53

squidmission I used 1.5kg weights today. Not through choice but because DD wanted to join in (stand and watch) and she wanted the pink (1kg) weights.

I found the final set of strength exercises where you lift the weights to eye level hard going but otherwise all was OK. I'm now hoping for better results and thinking that my DD has a career as a personal trainer ahead of her!

Squidmission · 13/04/2010 22:00

Go justaminute's dd

I can't wait to do it tomorrow.
My sis has just got the dvd too so it looks like its competition time for me hehe
(she wants to lose her baby weight too though she has about a stone to lose and I have around 2)

justaminute · 13/04/2010 22:15

My ds (3) has been bitten by the 30DS bug too. At bedtime tonight he said "watch this mummy" snd then did 3 star jumps.

Squidmission · 13/04/2010 22:18

Aw thats so cute

My two (4 and 2) copy me too. Its so funny. Though my two yr old thinks its fun to climb all over me when I do the crunches and push ups

OP posts:
justaminute · 13/04/2010 22:32

Yes it's very funny. My DS makes me laugh when he tries to do the cool down stretches and topples over. Thankfully they don't clamber over me when I'm on the floor - I think my red, sweating, puffing face puts them off

DD was quick to tell me I was doing to it all wrong today too - I was going left whilst Jilian was going towards the right. Definitely a personal trainer in the making there

Tortoise · 13/04/2010 22:37

Hadn't heard of this before. Think i will get a copy now. Have just looked it up.

Squidmission · 14/04/2010 09:59

You'll love it tortoise!

I did it this morning so have done 3 days.
Is anyone else trying to lose weight too? Would a weigh in be a good idea?

OP posts:
Joby1970 · 14/04/2010 10:03

I found I didn't lose masses of weight with it - but I really did tone up - especially abs, arms & top of legs.

ClaireDeLoon · 14/04/2010 10:05

Squid I'm following weightwatchers too, in my 4th week of it, lost 5lbs up to Monday which is my weigh day. I have a lot to lose, as I said further down the thread I am 4 stone overweight. But I'm also feeling very determined which I haven't felt about diets and exercise for a LONG time.

ClaireDeLoon · 14/04/2010 10:08

When I said following weightwatchers too I meant in addition to the 30 day shred!

poshtottie · 14/04/2010 11:12

I am on day 3 and am definitely feeling a bit achey this morning.

I'm going to try doing it before lunch today so its done with.

Was a bit when she said she had people of 400lbs doing jumping jacks. Not sure how good for their joints that would be. I used to be an exercise fanatic and now am paying the price with neck and back problems.

Its great that we are all motivating each other or mine would still be in the wrapper.

Joby1970 · 14/04/2010 11:21

if you're anal like me you can even put your work outs on a spreadsheeet & tot up how much you've done each week/ month (mins per day.. I am sooooo sad

justaminute · 14/04/2010 12:16

Oh dear Joby, I thought I was anal plotting my weight loss (lives in hope) / gain (more realistic) on a spreadsheet each week. You beat me

No time before work today, hopefully I'll have the energy to do Day 7 tonight.

Joby1970 · 14/04/2010 12:20

Justaminute - OMG I do that too - in fact I have a seperate spreadsheet showing gains & losses (bi annually) since 1994 when I first joing slimming world - it looks like a hilly landscape lol!

justaminute · 14/04/2010 12:25

Thankfully my records don't go back that far - it would be too depressing.

I have a graph on my spreadsheet with lines showing what weight I could theoretically be if I lost 1 pound or half a pound a week - I keep having to recalibrate the graph

Joby1970 · 14/04/2010 12:29

ah yes the target line. I think we should stop admitting this now in case our geekiness scares off other posters
