Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

Twinkle I think it's just when you can complete it fairly easily but I have seen people suggest 10 days on level 1, 10 on level 2 etc.

twinkle183 · 20/04/2010 12:24

Have just done second day of level 1 30 day shred... Omg it hurt, yesterday it didn't but today it kills! Does it get any easier and I want abs like the girl in the green top!!!

Joby1970 · 20/04/2010 12:44

hi guys. from experience of all 3 levels (I'll take the applause now lol). I find level 2 the hardest as a whole, but there are a few individual exercises on level 3 that are v hard.

cyteen · 20/04/2010 14:12

I'm definitely aching today...my quadriceps are stiff and creaky.

LostGirl · 20/04/2010 14:22

I agree with Joby, level 2 is the toughest, especially on your arms and abs. LEvel 3 is horrid cardio wise because of all the jumping.

Twinkle, I'm afraid you get abs like the girl in the green top in the kitchen, not the gym!

livvylouis · 20/04/2010 14:25

Day 2 done last night, found it easier than the 1st day but still pretty knackering! Going for day 3 tonight. Think I will stay at level 1 for the rest of this week then try moving onto next level .

omydarlin · 20/04/2010 15:07

Im a bit scared ? what if I start and then?think its too hard? then don?t carry on..I cant fail this time I need to really do it ¬ in a way am dreading that DVD landing on my door mat tomorrow ? any tip s to help me prepare ?? I have some hand weights somewhere and a mat and a funny skipping rope (with no rope) from avon. I have also found my trainers and sports bra.

PurpleFrog · 20/04/2010 15:27

Mine is also in the post! I keep seeing words here I don't like such as push-ups and planks... I am debating whether to watch it first when it arrives or just launch in and take whatever comes!

GoldenSnitch · 20/04/2010 15:59

Day 3 done. Saw some pics of me that DH took this morning which were a real inspiration for the shred today!!

I hate planks so not looking forward to level 2 now!

Definitely beginning to feel muscle underneath the jelly. Not noticed any change in my arms yet though. I'm sure it'll come. Just impatient!!

livvylouis · 20/04/2010 16:06

It isn't easy but it's only 20 mins! When u feel u just can't do anymore it's over! Just jump in there and do it u will be fine, if I can do it u can too x

Joby1970 · 20/04/2010 16:30

remember no pain no gain lol

LostGirl · 20/04/2010 16:50

Don't worry if you need to stop during it, just do what she says and take a five second break and then get back into it. The first time you do it you might have to stop loads, but the next time not so many times etc. Just keep with it until the end, it's worth it and you CAN do it.

justaminute · 20/04/2010 17:06

I'm officially mad...I went and did Level 2 again! It's hard work but I think I managed to keep with Anita slightly more today .

Last night I was worried that I'd lose motivation because I couldn't do Level 2. However, if I think back to Day 1 Level 1 I couldn't keep up with that and now I can. I'm definitely stronger than I was 2 weeks ago.

I'm wishing now I hadn't attacked the choc ices earlier

twinkle183 · 20/04/2010 19:52

I have a question is anyone else struggling with there pelvic floor and needing a wee during the cardio section

twinkle183 · 20/04/2010 19:54

lostgirl why can you only get them in the kitchen?

omydarlin · 20/04/2010 19:57

thanks guys - i think i need to keep coming back on this thread for inspiration! Purplefrog i cant do planks and push ups at the best of times either the very words are giving me the heebijeebies but i cant wait to be strong enough to do them!!

Squidmission · 20/04/2010 21:27

I've been doing the dvd most days but didn't manage it over the weekend. I'm not finding it getting much easier to be quite honest but I'm still sticking with it!

omydarlin I have trouble with the push ups and some of the aerobics but I just take a few seconds break and carry on.

Thankfully no probs with pelvic floor but I do try to exercise them when I remember!

Wurgh. Doing an hour's Zumba class the day after Day 1 Shred is hard work.

LostGirl · 21/04/2010 05:54

Twinkle they say you get a six pack in the kitchen because it is mainly down to diet and stripping away the fat which is covering the muscles so that you can see them, and also eating enough protein to build and strengthen the muscle.

ClaireDeLoon · 21/04/2010 09:27

Squid I'm not finding it getting much easier either, still on stage 1 and day 8 of that. I guess it is easier as I take fewer breaks but it's certainly not easy iyswim. I think I have very poor upper body strength so find the push ups very hard and also the arm raises/squats that you do in circuit one. In fact I find circuit one very hard!

But like I say just done day 8 and I know it will take me longer than everyone else but I'm not going to give up.

Oh yes, and that last minute of abs at the end I don't have the breath to do

twinkle183 · 21/04/2010 09:40

Right am day 3 and am not looking forward to this as i am having problems lifting my bloody hair brush if I am honest... But am going to give a bloody good go...

LostGirl do you think by doing ww it will strip all the fat off??? Or can you suggest something else... I don't really eat bread or pasta and I had lost 7lbs in two weeks but have just put 2lbs back on cos I had a bad weekend... any suggestions welcomed!

Dh says I should say away from the scales for at least a month to see real results!!!

dinkystinky · 21/04/2010 09:44

Hello all - have received my copy of the 30 day shred in the post but have a question which hopefully you shredsters will be able to answer. If you're fairly fit already, should you still start at level 1 and work your way up or go straight into level 2?

ClaireDeLoon · 21/04/2010 09:49

I would still start with day one dinky - even if it is just for one day, still build it up from the start. You could just alternate in the liong term as I think the different stages work different muscles from what people have said.

Twinkle I agree with your DH, look on it in 4 week segments for weight loss, if only because if you're anything like me you will naturally put on weight when your period is due and it is very easy to get discouraged by a week of weight gain when you have been working hard at your diet and exercise.

sailorsgal · 21/04/2010 09:52

dinky I would do level one and see how you feel. If you are fairly fit you could lift heavier weights and really go for it. You could move onto level 2 in a couple of days.

I have just done level 1 again and increased the weights. I will do level 2 again once my back has recovered. I quite like the variety too of switching the workouts.

Day 8 done

Squidmission · 21/04/2010 09:58

Dinkystinky definitely start on level one. If you're fairly fit and have good upper body strength than use some heavier hand weights.

Twinkle if you put that 2lbs on in one weekend, it will come off easily. Stick to your diet and the weight will come off.
I'm doing a no carbs for dinner (and no food after dinner). It seems to be working well and doesn't require much organisation.
