OK, new thread for 2010!

My aim is to have lost 2 stone by my Birthday on April 6th! Booking a weeks family holiday for that week and want to feel and look better!

So, weigh in Friday? I always find weekends harder so that would be a good day for me.

Smalline mmm roast dinner soup sounds interesting.
I normally do carrot, onion and leek or leek and potato. Sometime spicy butternut squash. Carrot and coriander is nice as well.

Good luck for 2010!

Yay! Thanks ladies. Will Post my weigh in later (1st week)

Mamii · 30/01/2010 08:37

I'm over the moon! I'm 14.5...
I've lost 7.5lbs this week! I know that on the 1st week you usually lose more so I'll try not to dulude myself next week that the same level of loss will occur.

  • I've halved my portion sizes.
  • Stopped picking on the kids lunchbox snacks after I put them to bed.
  • I've tried to eat less carbs as well as fat/calories.
  • I replaced sugar on cereals and in tea with sweetener.
  • I made sure I was never hungry, so I bought loads of healthy snacks.
  • I went to Body Attack and Body Jam this week with my new leisure centre membership.

I'm so happy!

Roll on next week! I'm going to try and step up the exercise next week a bit. I'm happy with the amount of food, I've not felt hungry at all.

Mamii · 30/01/2010 08:39

Craving Cheddar Cheese already though if I'm honest. (only down side as far as I can tell). I'm hoping that as long as I stay on the healthy snacks and not get hungry, I won't go overboard.

Tortoise · 30/01/2010 09:31

Well done Mammi. I would allow your self a small piece of cheese. I always feel the worst thing to do is totally deny yourself something, because you will want it more!
Loosing weight is about eating sensibly/healthy and looking at portion size as well as excercise.

Mamii · 30/01/2010 10:07

Thanks Tortoise, your advice makes really good sense.

Next time the craving comes on, I'll just have a little (and enjoy every second).

[off to plan next weeks exercise regime]

Tortoise · 03/02/2010 09:54

Had a better day yesterday. Feeling more positive.
I did 45 mins on the wii fit. Arms ache from the boxing lol!

How is everyone else doing?

Mamii · 03/02/2010 15:20

Not doing as well as you with the exercise But well done, keep up the motivation.

I've had a chest infection, but I'll get back to it as soon as I stop coughing my lungs up!

Still going well on the food side of things though. It was my daughters birthday and I didn't even smell the cake! Was also a friends hen night and I drove to stop me from drinking and had a salmon salad! I'm impressing myself, I've never had this much motivation and will power before....

I'm liking it!

Keep streching those arms out, that'll help with the ache.

Tortoise · 03/02/2010 16:22

Mamii I have only managed it the once so far but am planning to do another 45 mins later. I need to do something fat burning too though. Wii fit isn't really doing that i don't think.

I do walk about 4 miles a day(more like 5 today by the time i have taken DS2 to footie training).
Wonder how fast walking compairs to running! I can do a mile in 10 mins on my own walking but can't run for more than 2 mins lol.

Mamii · 03/02/2010 18:15

Tortoise - You're doing so well, I used to have a personal trainer (years ago) and he used to say that a brisk walk up and down hills (even little ones) is better than a run on the flat.

Tortoise · 03/02/2010 19:39

Mamii That is good to hear.

Had too much to eat for tea and it was pizza and chips!

But i will go on the wii soon and try and work some of it off boxing and doing step aerobics lol!

Tortoise · 03/02/2010 22:15

50 mins wii fit completed.
Hope you don't mind me adding lots of little posts. Hoping it will keep me motivated to list what i have achieved.

Now, if i could just eat smaller portions, i might lose weight! Wii said 2lb gain but i had eaten a huge dinner!

Mamii · 04/02/2010 10:32

Well done on the exercise! I told DH that I fancied getting the WI Fit (valentines coming up and all that! . But he just grumped and said "Why, you won't use it!". Not much support coming from there then eh!

No problem about the posts. I find it's really helping me keep motivated so keep 'em coming. I'm checking MN instead of the fridge and the kids sweetie cupboard.

I had a weight watchers pizza a few days ago. It was nice. Obviously not the same as pizza hut, but it certainly hits the spot.

I'm going full time at work next week. I've always worked full time, I went back when DD was only 16 weeks. But, since September 2009 when DD started school I've been part time working around the school hours which has been a god send. So I'm going to have to try not to make excuses not to go to the exercise classes in the evenings. DH has said that he'll help out (but he's made these promises before).

I'm going to try really hard to keep it up and keep focused on me for a change.

Furball · 04/02/2010 11:34

glad you both seem motivated

I've gone completely the other way......

I've decided, I'm gonna do the 'up day down day' diet.

Basically you alternate between 2000 on a up day then the next day is a down day where you have 500!

sounds doable I recon, cos i can't stick to the average of that every day.

in fact I haven't been able to stick to anything, but if you are only 'not allowed' stuff for one day - can you wait 24 hours?

we'll see

Tortoise · 04/02/2010 14:11

Sounds interesting Furball. Hope you find something that work for you.

I had lettace, grated cheese and light salad cream in a pitta for lunch. V yummy! Less cheese than i would normally have because it was filled out with lettace!

Really tired today but will try and do some wii fit later.

Mamii · 04/02/2010 18:53

I've never heard of the 'up day down day' diet before. Sounds very interesting, it should work 'cos your average calorie intake per week is still at the right level to lose weight isn't it? Let us know how you get on.

Tortoise · 04/02/2010 19:43

Dreading weigh in tomorrow tbh!

Mamii · 04/02/2010 20:02

It comes around fast doesn't it?

Furball · 04/02/2010 20:07

I'm dreading 500 cals for the day!

Mamii · 05/02/2010 08:11

14.2 today - that's another 3 off this week.

Hurrah!

Furball · 05/02/2010 08:13

OK - had a pint of water and a cup of coffee before realising I needed to weigh myself

12.12 lb - back to square one then

on a 'down day' today 500 calories.....

had 1oz of porridge made with water and 1/4 of teaspoon of sweetner - 100 cals - ate with a teaspoon - bargain!

right.....now for the rest of the day.....

but rewards are tomorrow - yum yum

Furball · 05/02/2010 08:14

well done mamii! way (weigh?) to go!

Tortoise · 05/02/2010 10:02

12 st 11 1/4 today so back to start weigh for me too! But happy with that. At least didn't go up!

Mamii · 05/02/2010 13:33

Yay! Thanks Furball, well done to you guys too. I've only just started my diet so I know from previous failed attempts experience that you slow down as the weeks go on. Which is always when I've given up in the past. So well done guys for keeping it up. I guess with all the changes your body is going through through-out the diet - there will be weeks when your body needs to take time to adjust.

(That's my theory anyway)

Smalline · 06/02/2010 12:02

Hi Ladies, internet has been playing up at home, so I'm not even sure I'll be able to post this message. Stayed the same this week, not surprising as AF is here. Hoping for a good loss next week.

Went to see a nutrionist this week and apparently my body is having trouble digesting white wine (my favourite tipple) and tea!. I've been instructed to drink detox green tea which tastes disgusting, lots of water, hemp seed, and I know I should eat more fruit.

Well done on your weightloss Mamii, I hope the new system works for you Furball and keep up the exercising Tortoise.

juneybean · 06/02/2010 13:00

I'm so pissed off, I lost half a stone last January and it's slowly creeping back on

I know I need to lose more than that half a stone but still I'd quite like to get under the next stone IYSWIM!
