found you! here's to a happy, supportive and understanding of my crapness thread

irrelevant to SW, but am going off to start a thread on this in a minute (when I work out where to start it) My local Salvation Army are arranging a collection of gifts for the kids affected by the flooding in Cockermouth. If anyone is interested it might be worth contacting your local citadel to see if they are involved too. Thanks. x

Good luck on this festive thread

ILoveStripeySocks · 26/11/2009 07:18

ILoveStripeySocks · 26/11/2009 07:19

QandA · 26/11/2009 08:26

Just a quick hello so that I can find this later, going to have breakfast. What I really fancy is toast, toast and more toast, but will resist

littleoldme · 26/11/2009 11:58

Hi all.
Just a quick one. I'm at the IL's so they can look after DS as I'm doing some GCSE marking. I'm doing my best but I can't really ask them to get stuff in for me as they are being so kind already. Hope I don't gain as I've only got a few pounds to go now.

Well done on the losses everyone and thanks for the list of yogs. I'm getting a bit bored of Mullers.

Connie - I'll fiind you on Fb once I'm in the comfort of my own computer again X

Fruitgums · 26/11/2009 12:49

Cicues - Thanks for sharing the veggie yoghurt info. I'll stock up tonight.

Q&A - Ahh the luxary of a cooked breakfast! I'm always rushing in the morning trying to get me & my DS ready for nursery & work. May give it a go at the weekends.
Also, congratulations on your weight loss. I have my first weigh in on Monday and I bet that I've gained

Connie - thanks for the welcome

Ria - I'm re-starting week 3 of running programme on Monday. Maybe we can motivate each other?

Well I had a really really bad day yesterday. I stopped counting my syns once I got to circa 75 I know that evenings and being tired are my downfalls.... and yet I still keep on making the same mistakes

I hope that you are all faring better than me.

Rialentless · 26/11/2009 13:36

hi all. feeling a bit rough today, don't know if I've eaten something ot if I picked up a bug when I was in school the other day

But 2lb off

Don't think I'll make it out running til Sunday evening, but am happy to co-motivate

it's freezer emptying pre-defrosting time, so I have a nice selection of green meals out ready for tomorrow

lanismum · 26/11/2009 15:16

Hi all, marking my place on the shiney new thread!

Well done on the losses, I agree its getting harder as we get nearer to christmas, the amount of chocolate we have in the house is !

I had my weigh in today, another 2 1/2 lb off, so am quite pleased with that, especially as I blew it saturday by drinking a fair amount of jack daniels with my cousin......i went WAY over my syns for the day.....but only had a couple of sys the rest of the week so it must have evened itself out I guess.

I stayed for the meeting for the first time today (usually have ds so just get weighed and leave) and one woman had brought in some cake she had made with scan bran, I think she said it was 9 syns for the whole cake, she gave us all a bit to try, it was quite nice so I am going to look for the recipe, I think she said it was on the site, oh, and I got slimmer of the week, was so embarrassing cos they all clapped when I got my bag of fruit

QandA · 26/11/2009 20:02

Fruitgums, it really is a weekend treat, though it feels odd on a diet to eat more at breakfast than I have ever done in my life, I had never had a cooked breakfast before last weekend!

littleoldme, staying with people is difficult, we are staying with friends at the weekend and I am wondering how it will go

Ria, hope you are feeling better soon, stomachbugs are just a nightmare.

If you get the recipe lanismum, can you post it here please? I am loving the sound of a whole cake worth just 9 syns

lanismum · 26/11/2009 20:38

Ok, here is the cake recipe, copied from the site (prob not allowed to post... but...oh well!)

Low-Syn chocolate cake

*Syns: 9 Syns for the whole cake

You will need:
5 Scan Bran
3 beaten eggs
1 level tbsp golden syrup
1oz cocoa powder
½ mug sweetener

Method:

  1. Soak the Scan Bran in boiling water to soften. Then drain and mash.
  2. Mix all the ingredients together and pour into a microwavable bowl.
  3. Microwave on high for 7 minutes. When cooked the cake will be springy to the touch and will have pulled away from the side.
  4. For a free topping, pile with (defrosted) frozen forest fruits or top with chocolate spread (4½ Syns per tbsp).
lanismum · 26/11/2009 20:40

I want to make this now but dont have any scan bran

BethAndHerBrood · 26/11/2009 20:46

I really ought to be on here.........

Again!!

Has that bossy woman gone? Have been lurking, and I didn't care for her tone.

VengefulKitty · 26/11/2009 21:15

Hi, I hope I can join the thread?!

My mother has been doing a combo of WW and SW for a while and I recently joined her on SW so I am kinda new to it.

I am 5'8 and was 13st, size 16 going into 18 in late Jan/early Feb. I used starvation to get to 9st10lbs from Jan to Sept. I know, not good, and the min I started eating properly I shot back up to 10st7 so my main reason for this is healthy eating, plus losing 1st for my hols coming up soon.

I am in the perfect BMI category and a size 12, but I am not personally happy with my bingo wings, flabby belly and weight.

I have now stared SW (2 weeks in) and I am also exercising properly. I have found the SW plan to be a godsend as I like to eat. I looked at WW but being restricted to amounts will not work for me.

Yesterday I was stuffed to the point where I thought I would burst, but hadn't used any syns so WAH-HEY was my response!

If you don't agree with me being here I understand (my mother supports me, but thinks I have body dysmorphic disorder {I disagree}) and I will go, but I feel like I could benefit health wise from being able to get advice from and to contribute to a thread like this

I must add that I have had a few wines (will count them!) so am rather tipsy, or else I would not have had the guts to post for fear of being flamed...

VengefulKitty · 26/11/2009 21:17

I have also now given myself a headache from yanking hair into a very tight ponytail with nervousness....

Rialentless · 26/11/2009 21:22

am having crisps and a frozen curry as a weigh-in treat and to help the freezer emptying effort!

Rialentless · 26/11/2009 21:33

hi Kitty. As far as I'm concerned, so long as you aren't a SW consultant pretending to be someone else, and waiting to tell us off for trying to have fun, you're welcome

I think the word on SW success is to look at it as a lifestyle change rather than a diet ,so if you're looking at it that way then that's the right idea. Maybe if you are OK BMI-wise, you could look at the extra HE's for maintaining? The healthy eating and the exercise should do the trick I think.

VengefulKitty · 26/11/2009 21:39

Thank you Ria

As I say, I have a little weight I want to get rid of, but yes, I have mainly joined SW for the lifestyle change.

I have been a yo-yo dieter and I know it is not healthy. SW seems to be a good way to get healthy as well as a weight-loss tool, as you do not deprive yourself of food, yet learn what you can eat in abundance without being unhealthy.

Today I have been a little naughty in eating duck and rice, but thankfully am still within my syn allowance (although my wine consumption will take me over when I calculate it tomorrow )

My mother has done well on SW and WW. She has gone from a size 22/24 to size 18 in about 10 months

ConnieComplaint · 26/11/2009 23:40

Forgive me father for I have synned:

It has been 12 years since my last confession.

Today I ate:

Breakfast: An apple & 2 misntrels

Lunch: 4 minstrels & a rhubarb and custard boiled sweet

Dinner: 2 slices of white bread with 3 low fat sausages inside followed by 2 digestives & a bag of quavers....

I shall repent at my leisure

ILoveStripeySocks · 27/11/2009 08:43

Maybe, as its a new thread & all that, we could all introduce ourselves, say how long we have done SW, how much we have lost & wether we go to class or not? Ill start

I have been doing SW for 4 and a bit weeks, have lost 11 lbs and I go to class on Tuesdays!

ILoveStripeySocks · 27/11/2009 08:45

ohhh naughty CC! Hope you are having a better day!

Welcome Kitty!

Have been good so far again this week. Had a take away last night, but it was still a SW friendly one (King Prawn chop suey & boiled rice). Its the weekends that are hard!

Fruitgums · 27/11/2009 09:39

Welcome Kitty!

Stripey, good idea about introducing ourselves.

I did SW for 3 weeks in august and then stopped attending the meetings as I couldn't find/afford a babysiter for my 2yr old DS.

I re-joined SW last Monday and I'm 9lbs heavier than when I left
I told the SW consultant that I wanted to wipe the slate clean and start afresh... so here I am now! I have my weigh in on Monday evenings. I'm the type of person that must attend the meetings as I need to have someone to keep an eye on me as I know that my eating will go to pot is I miss a weigh in etc. BUt hopefully this time round I will stick to it the SW healthy eating as I've got all of you lovely ladies here for support.

Oh and I need to lose about 4 stones to get to my target.

tullytwo · 27/11/2009 09:42

Just marking my spot

VengefulKitty · 27/11/2009 10:11

Morning and thank you for the welcomes!

Well, calculating my wine took me to 27 syns yesterday which I now have to claw back.

I don't go to the meetings as I have no childcare for DS and money is kinda tight, so I am hoping that virtual support etc will suffice!

littleoldme · 27/11/2009 11:18

I too have synned - I'm at the inlaws and the have a tube of pringles of which I have eaten err.... too many. I need to get hope to the comfort of my syn free kitchen. Hopefully I haven't overdone it.

hi Kitty - You are of course more than welcome - as long as you are not a spy sent by SW to destroy our happy home (wink)

Connie - I love Minstrels ...

StrawberriesandCherries · 27/11/2009 11:31

That's a good idea ILSS - there are so many of us now it's good to see how everyone is doing. Welcome to the new faces too!!!

I have lost 18.5lbs since august, and have 9.5lbs to go to target. Hard going but it's such a great eating plan you can get back on it pretty quickly once you have synned
