Had a good result with a risotto tonight which was mainly free - the rice, prawns, onions, garlic, veg stock etc. - the only syns were a small glass of wine (not including the bit I drank while stirring for 30 mins) and a tablespoon of marg. The parmesan was from my EE HE. Not bad as it serves 4. I didn't use anywhere near as much butter/marg as I normally do and it tasted exactly the same. I am really pleased as its one of my favourites and until I broke it down seemed like syn city!

Think I am going to have to go back. I dread to think how much I have put on over the summer but have reached that miserable fat stage where I feel fat and frumpy in everything.

We moved house at easter and I never joined a class in my new area. I stuck to it OKish until the end of June but since then I have enjoyed a summer of cream teas, take aways, meals out and chocolate!! Sadly my arse, tummy and thighs are giving the game away now Sad. Time to reign it in before it gets nasty again.

I lost 5 stone on SW a few years back. I dont want to get back upto those proportions so on Tuesday off I will go to a new class!

I am actually quite looking forward to my SW stew in the slow cooker, and SW veg chilli, Sw chilli con carne, SW chicken curry, SW bolognaise!! Its been a while and I can feel a bulk baking and freezing sesh coming on!Smile

Riadingbetweenthelines · 10/09/2010 21:20

does anyone know the syn values for frankfurters? or a soup recipe with no garlic in it?

TIA

littlemefi · 10/09/2010 22:43

Just had lovely dinner of chicken and veg curry from this month's SW magazine made by dh bless him, it was gorgeous! And syn free!
Although the lemon drizzle cake this afternoon was def not syn free Blush

miracled · 11/09/2010 09:00

Herta frankfurters are 2.5 on EE or red or 3.5 on green. It says for 25g which I assume is one.

Riadingbetweenthelines · 11/09/2010 10:06

thanks miracled. won't bother making the soup in the Nigella book then!

think I might make a broth as I have a joint of ham to cook and can use the stock. I need filling food for monday minus grlic so i don't smell at dance class!

plan for today - meal plan for next week, clean out fridge and a small shop.

miracled · 11/09/2010 10:29

Meal Plans? You are far more organised than me, I've only planned till Tuesday! I sometimes make a corn chowder which is basically onions, sweet potato, stock and sweetcorn with chilli added if needed then blended. Something like that would be nice with the ham stock. Its a New Covent Garden recipe which also says add cream but I just use more tinned sweetcorn.

Riadingbetweenthelines · 11/09/2010 16:53

yum, that sounds nice miracled. have promised the boys a broth, but will give that a go. I like a nice spicy sweet potato/squash and peppers soup myself.

I am only meal-planning because I need to have a 100% week to get me back into the swing of things (and lose the boomerang half stone againSad), and I am sick of the supermarket! I have spent another small fortune, but am planned til Thursday lunch I think.

are any of you chocaholics? I am wondering about low-syn chocolate snacks to have with my cuppa before bed. I was having kitkat the other week, but any other suggestions welcome. Am not keen on curly wurly.

miracled · 11/09/2010 17:33

Allow me to consult the directory....the lowest thing I could find was a flake (the size that goes in an ice-cream) at 2.5. A 2 finger kitkat is 4.5, this is on EE.

I am a complete chocoholic but since I started this diet if someone gave me the choice of a bit of chocolate or a bit of mature cheddar I'd snatch their hand off for the cheese. I have no idea why!

a tiny flake that fits in my mouth in one goShockShock, thanks miracled. I don't like cheese so thankfully I don't have to choose! back to kitkats or half a bag of maltesers then!

Riadingbetweenthelines · 19/09/2010 10:29

did i kill the thread?Sad

i made the chowder, it was niceSmile

just had a big breakfast - yum, and plan to use the leftover sausage in a pasta salad with a dash of honey and mustard dressing (tesco light choices, fairly low syn i think)

hope you're all OK?Smile

miracled · 20/09/2010 11:24

I've been busy pounding the wii so I can get to my club10 this week! Hmm Glad the soup worked out RBTL. Had a massive, low syn sunday dinner - roast beef with fat cut off, mash with horseradish, green veg and spray oil roast spuds. Going to have the leftover beef with leftover veg made into bubble & squeak with spray oil today.

findingtheRialme · 20/09/2010 18:27

yum miracled. I am doing a "sunday roast" just now, but with pork loin steak, ad am having yorkshire pudding and gravy for my syns. Am looking forward to it as have spent the whole day painting the ceiling in the boys room - 4 coats of paint!!!

good luck with the club10.

Anyone tried doing the SW quiche without cottage cheese or normal cheese and just using eggs?

This is the recipe I was given.

6 eggs
1 medium onion
1 can tuna/1 chicken breast cooked and chopped up
28g cheddar or 42 grams half fat cheddar if using HEb or cottage cheese for a free quiche
1 tomato
Par boiled broccoli
Water Beat the eggs in a large mixing bowl or jug.
Finely dice the onion and mix into egg.
Stir fillings into egg mixture.
Grate the cheese and add this to the other ingredients or stir in cottage cheese. If it is too stiff add a little water, it should be a thick consistancy but pourable.
Pour mixture into an over proof dish. Thinly slice tomato and arrange on top of mixture, if you want to use a little more cheese sprinkle on top.
Bake in oven gas mark 6 or 200 degrees celsius for around 45 minutes test to see if it is set by stabbing it with a thin bladed knife or skewer, it should come out wet but with no sloppy egg looking goo on it. Also the mixture should not wobble too much as you move the dish. When it is at this stage turn up the heat to full for 10 minutes this will give you a skin around the bottom which will be your "pastry". This is not compulsory but I like it this way.
Remove it from the oven and leave to stand for a few minutes before serving. This allows the "quiche" to lift away from the sides of the dish slightly making it easier to serve. I served this with New potatoes and a salad.

miracled · 22/09/2010 07:40

Thanks nappyaddict, I was looking for something I could make on sat to have before going out, this sounds good (and will line the stomach for the wine onslaught). Love the 'pastry' trick!

nappyaddict · 22/09/2010 10:39

Anyone wanna try it without cheese/cottage cheese and see if it works or not?

miracled · 22/09/2010 11:43

Not me!

Dazmum · 22/09/2010 12:48

I haven't been to SW for a couple of weeks as my dad has been in hospital and I take my mum to visit every night, so don't know what's in store for me when I go back to weigh in, probably next week. I haven't been doing it very well!

lostinwales · 22/09/2010 12:57

Hello, I am lostinwales and I have put on the 4stone 4 pounds I lost at slimming world, and put on another stone in the process of having DS3 and his early years. I am ready for another go so please may I come and be friends with you? I have got back into the swing of things and lost 8lbs but there is no group where I live so I could do with help and advice. What is the slimming world view on those innocent veg pots? I just had a chickpea curry one which was lovely and the only ingredient with sins on a green day I could see was vegetable oil, anyone else tried them?

nappyaddict · 22/09/2010 13:50

How much are they?

miracled · 22/09/2010 13:54

Hello lostinwales I don't know about the veg pots but it can't be much veg oil so I'd allow a few syns. I'm doing the extra easy plan, don't think I'd cope with red and green days as easily.

Good luck Dazmum, hope your dad is ok. I lost 2lbs on holiday the other week, despite wine every night and several chinese and kebab takeaways (not to mention pringles and choc nicked off the DS's) so you may be surprised!

nappyaddict · 22/09/2010 13:54

It looks like some of them contain dried fruit, purees, pastes, sauces, honey, coconut sugar, cocount cream. cornflour all of which would have to be synned.

lostinwales · 22/09/2010 14:15

Thanks for looking nappyaddict, I had the indian daal one ingredients, water, carrot, yellow split peas, onion, potato, chickpeas, peas, cauliflower, tomato, rice, leek, spinach, vegetable oil, lemon juice, cornflour, garlic, salt, coriander, ginger, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, chilli, curry leaves. All I can see in there to sin (can't do the modern thing and spell it syn) is the veg oil, cornflour and lemon juice. Although now I can tell you that it does wonders for gas production too Blush and I've got a meeting in a bit! They are half price in Tesco at the moment and purport to be three of your five a day.

Hi miracled, I can't get to grips with extra easy, I seem to be able to pursuade myself to cheat it somehow. Plain old red and green worked so well for me last time I'll stick to that for now. Branch out into the new ways when I've started losing a bit.

nappyaddict · 23/09/2010 09:06

Lemon juice and lime juice doesn't have to be synned :)
