hi deafworm, hope you are settling in well. Did you get to see any Goths?

5 weeks til Xmas!!!! Haven't lost any of my stone yet, put more back on

going to give it another go from tomorrow (I know, again). I am stuck in a miserable cycle and I need to break it.

how's the gym RG? my dancing teacher seems to have vanished off the face of the earth (I rang her to see if the class was on and she hasn't replied to my message) I am disappointed as even though I was crap I was enjoying it. Have been doing manic cleaning though, so that's sort-of exercise isn't it?

grinningbee · 18/11/2009 12:08

If I grovel, can I come back in please?

[hopeful emoticon]

Rialentless · 18/11/2009 15:11

you can't come back if you've lost loads of weight

how you doing?

mummymels · 18/11/2009 16:57

Hi everyone, can I join please as I am desperately trying to lose weight by Christmas too. I haven't been very good with diets in the past but have been doing Go Lower for 6 weeks now and have lost 22lbs and hoping to lose some more by Christmas.

What diets are you all doing? How are you finding it?

Rialentless · 18/11/2009 21:02

Hi Mels, well done on your loss. welsome to the thread.

I am meant to be doing SW, but have new issues with it (not based on my current lack of success this time, something personal and probably a bit pathetic), don't know whether to stick with it, or go back to Rosemary Conley, or do WW.

I read a good tip last night though (old SW mag). I am trying to keep it in my mind. If you slip up at one meal, or have a blip day or whatever, put it behind you at the next meal, don't blow the whole day or week. and the "tip" bit - if you have a vase of 7 roses and one died, you wouldn't throw the other six away. (I have a vase of dead flowers in the kitchen that I need to throw away - wonder what that says about me)

mummymels · 19/11/2009 13:23

Thanks for the welcome Rialentless - sorry to hear you are having issues with SW at the moment. I have to admit I don't know much about Rosemary Conley but have done WW in the past. I suppose it is down to personal preference and what works best for you. Lol on the roses!

Rialentless · 19/11/2009 13:41

giving SW another go today. trying to have a good week have shopped and done a rough meal plan, also not bought any wine, but having friends over on Saturday so I'll have to have some then!

smallone · 19/11/2009 14:38

Hi everyone can I join you? I've been overweight all my life, managed to lose quite a lot on WW years ago during an active job but its crept back up. I've just had dc2 and was shocked during pregnancy that hosp scales show me as 1.5 stone heavier than my scales at home. This put me in the "at risk BMI" range and made me feel like a freak. I don't know what I actually weigh til I get some new scales but have lost my pregnancy weight quickly so am motivated to get going again. I'm BFing and its making me want to chain eat cake, I'm going to need help to keep strong. Any ideas what I can snack on? Fruit just doesn't cut it I'm afraid!

Rialentless · 19/11/2009 18:18

hi smallone. no idea about snacking, sorry. Do you get extra WW points for BF?

doing ok here. tea was a bit of a waste of syns - made a pasta bake with low fat condensed soup that is 7.5 per tin, and bought a mini Eat Smart garlic baguette, but it was 15 syns for the whole thing. I had half, and didn't think "sod it" and eat the whole thing. got to keep it up til bedtime

mummymels · 19/11/2009 19:39

Well done Rialentless on giving SW another go. You could save some of your points for when your friends are around at the weekend. Good luck getting through the evening.

Hi smallone and welcome. I only joined this thread a couple of days ago too. I think you are allowed extra points when you are BF. I'm not sure what snacks you can have apart from fruit. What about things like cherry tomatoes, cucumber, baby carrots, snackajacks, crackers etc? I started Go Lower 6 weeks ago. It was quite tough to start with but after a few days it got easier. It is so easy now not having to count points etc and I never thought I would say it, but I don't feel hungry at all.

Rialentless · 19/11/2009 21:48

DIET = Determined Inspired Exciting Terrific

RG are you lurking? How are you?

smallone · 20/11/2009 09:29

Thankyou, yes you are allowed extra points on WW while BFing, but I'm trying to do it from memory rather than sign up again as money is very tight. I'm going to try and work out what 500 cals is in points and add that on, then I can adjust it based on my weight loss.

I think snackajacks and crackers might be the way to go, I want carbs! Only thinking about it over the weekend and then I aim to start proper on monday. Do you all have a weigh in on the same day? Or do you do your own thing?

mummymels · 20/11/2009 09:45

Smallone - that makes sense. Do you have all the books from last time? God luck with it. I must admit I can't remember all the points and things from ww so can't remember what else is good for snacks. Hopefully the snackajacks and crackers will help the cravings.

I've only just joined so not sure what other people do about a weigh in but personally mine is on Monday normally.

RGPargy · 20/11/2009 17:24

Hi everyone!

I lost you off my "threads i'm on" list!

I haven't been on lately because i've been sucked into the timewasting vortex that is FarmVille on Facebook . Now that i am hooked on that, i seem to forget that i had a [virtual] life outside of FB!

Will catch up and post replies later when i'm at home.

Hope you are all well and hello to the newbies!

Rialentless · 20/11/2009 19:33

smallone - have you been on the WW thread? There is a link from there to someones blog of their WW journey and it has useful stuff on it. If you scroll down it's there somewhere (am still using DS1s laptop otherwise I think I had bookmarked it). I have some WW books so could look things up for you if it would help (can't send you them in case I change my mind again)

I was doing so well today, then I got all in a stress as DH drove over a "ramp" strip and ripped the tyre, plus he has promised to make a birthday cake for tomorrow and is too busy at work to do it, so guess who has been baking since before tea? As the oven was on I made my uncle a bacon and egg pie (my aunt is in hospital) and DS3 had some for tea after we walked DS1 to youth group (in the dark!), I just had a little taste, but it was really nice and DS3 wanted some more...

Hi RG. I haven't been on farmville for ages.

smallone · 21/11/2009 09:27

Thanks Ria, I'll look it up, had a bad day yesterday, if DD wasn't being a pain or crying DS was screaming. I hid in the kitchen and ate 4 squares of choc, 3 biscuits and a slice of cake. aggh! Good job I'm not starting officially til mon. I must get my emotional eating under control.

So glad I ignored farmville, I've got enough internet addictions!

Rialentless · 22/11/2009 23:15

I' a lot bit like that smallone. it's hard isn't it. what else is there for those moments? OK, you can have an indulgent bath in your own time as a treat, but when it's chocolate or murder someone, what else cuts it?

had a chat with a SW friend tonight and I feel better about the whole thing. just as well as I have a fridge full of SW ingredients!

good luck for a new Monday!!!

smallone · 23/11/2009 09:06

Morning all, todays the first day! Have lost a pound last week, but DS was having his 6wk feeding frenzy so can't rely on that this week, am going to have to do some of the work myself.

I've started the day well with a big bowl of porridge so hopefully that will keep the munchies at bay for a good few hours. I've used up all the naughties over the weekend and have got tesco coming tonight with loads of snack-a-jacks.

Just got to try and get some exercise in now.

Fingers crossed for anyone else who's weighing in.

mummymels · 23/11/2009 21:56

Happy Monday everyone. I hope you had good weekends. We had a couple of childrens parties at the weekend with lots of food for adults too. It was quite hard being good but I managed it just! Had my weigh in today and lost another 4lbs so total weight loss is now 26lbs. At least it is working.

RGPargy - I haven't started with Farmville. I am sure if I ever started with it I would become addicted and I don't have time so I just haven't ever even learnt what it is. I don't trust myself.

Rialentless - What a pain about the car and the cake. I can see why you would feel stressed but I'm pleased you are feeling better now.

Smallone - I had to laugh. Not laugh cos you had a bad day but laugh because yoou sound like me pre diet sneaking in the kitchen to eat chocolate and biscuits whilst no-one is looking. It could have been me writing that a couple of months ago. Your kids sound like mine! It sounds as if you had a good start today though. Did the porridge fill you up?

Rialentless · 24/11/2009 00:34

that's brilliant mels. forgive me for forgetting, but which diet are you doing?

been a long day here with much stress (work - you don't want to know, but I work one hour a day very occasionally and today finally proved it really is more hassle than it's worth as ended up in a discussion with boss that needed to be had - about other staff members treating othees with pure contempt etc - but I think it;s the first time I've been in since July, so why did it have to be me? And also after said discussion found out that - although a justified complaint - one of my colleagues I was talking to has issues with someone else and they are IMO, verging on bullying in their way of dealing with it, so I had to phone boss when I got to home try and explain that what I'd been talking about was in no way connected to their stuff. Really wish I'd said I was busy... especially as none of it will do any good.)

it is also true that one should not shop on an empty stomach. I never believed that before today!

Am hoping to start couch potato to 5k again tomorrow. Nodded off (while putting DCs to bed) imagining me being able to jog from my house down to the beach, then along the beach to the next place with a name and back again (no idea how far it is, a couple of miles maybe - though it happening is very far off - but that would be a great thing to be able to do)

mummymels · 24/11/2009 14:30

Rialentless - I'm doing Go Lower.

It sounds as if you are having a very stressful time at work. I hope your words with your boss sorted the situation. I have someone at my work who is a bully too so I understand where you are coming from. A jog along the beach sounds lovely when you a ready.

Rialentless · 24/11/2009 22:14

have never heard of Go Lower.

Good SW day today and been for a run. Have a nasty bad back though, am hoping the run won't have made it worse.

smallone · 25/11/2009 09:28

Morning, doing well so far, I get 30 points a day on ww and thats a really good amount. Not sure how I'll cope when I drop back down post bfing. I think I might move over to SW then as I've got friends who were hungry on ww and then do really well on sw.

Well done mels! Great loss.

Well done Ria, I'm flirting with the idea of c25k but I think its a pipe dream at the mo, esp while ds is so young and the evenings are so dark.

mummymels · 25/11/2009 14:27

Rialentless - How's your back today? Go Lower is a diet where they deliver the food to your house which I love as I don't have to worry about what food to cook etc. and you can have treats (even chocolate!). You loose quite a bit of weight as your body goes in to ketotis.

Thanks Smallone - How are you finding the 30 points a day at the moment?

Rialentless · 25/11/2009 23:01

that sounds brilliant mels, I HATE cooking.

Back not too bad once I was up and about, thanks. Am a bit achey tonight from the run, and the mad rush walk to school this morning. Cleaned the oven, so have done exercise with my arms at least!
