Hi everyone, I rejoined SW this week. Have done it couple of times before but willpower goes AWOL as soon as I get within a few lbs from target. BUT I am determined to stick with it this time and lose around a stone.

Favourite meals are slimming world chips (yum!) or vegetable chilli and rice for green days, steak and prawns with stir-fry veg on original days.

toadette · 08/01/2009 19:47

Bellasmama, new plan is you can eat FREE foods from both red and green days but only have 1 HE A and 1 HE B each day. Can still have 5 to 15 syns a day (count the lowest syn value from red/green).

Furball · 08/01/2009 20:24

I still don't understand whay the difference is between the new plan and success express.

toadette · 08/01/2009 20:37

They definitely appear to be very similar, furball. Think the only differences are that the SuccessExpress states three meals a day and gives stipulation of amounts of superfree and free (although extraeasy plan does suggest eating one-third superfree foods at each meal for superfast weightloss).

kitbit · 09/01/2009 09:06

oh no, I'm really confused! I did the plan about 5 years ago and it was definitely keep red and green days separate but you could have a bit of the opposite colour as a HE. Is this basically the same, ie on a green day you have pasta for lunch but put some chicken with it, but instead of counting it as a HE and having 2 HEs that day as on the old plan, now you count it as "free red food" and just have 1 HE??

And sorry to be dim, but what is a superfree food? Are they the same as speed foods eg strawberries etc?

Furball · 09/01/2009 09:28

superfree are foods that are/were free on both days like say eggs or quorn etc

kitbit · 09/01/2009 10:15

ahh, thanks Furball
It all seems really different now, but I still have my little yellow book from before so I suppose as long as I follow that I'll be OK - after all it worked last time!
I remember being allowed 10 syns ("sins" then). Has that changed too?

fairydust · 09/01/2009 17:52

i joined back at sw on tuesday and so far so good i did have fish and peas from the chippy but had,had no other syns for the previous two days so used them.

Am loving the new plan it fits in so much better with my family meals that we have.

WallOfSilence · 09/01/2009 18:47

Hi everyone,

I hope you lot don't mind me dipping my toes back in the slimming world pool...

I have been AWOL for a few months but rejoined on Wednesday night! I knew I had to do something as my favourite trousers are getting too tight

Anyway, I was stunned at hoe much weight I have gained in the seven months from I last attended. I guess that's what happens to me when I don't watch what I eat.

So far I have had a couple of good days! DH is cooking a curry at the minute. I am on a green day so will have either a veg curry or a chicken curry & use the chicken as a HE.

Today I had lots of celery with laughing cow light spread into the groove of it, topped with grapes. It was lovely, very refreshing.

I am still sticking to green days so far as I don't feel ready to try & get my head round the extraeasy plan yet! Though my sister is trying it & says it's great. Her consultant tried it for 2 weeks & lost 10lb so most of her group is following it too!

Good luck to you all & I'm glad I've returned to the fold...where else can I get so much support & advice on diet!!

sep1712 · 10/01/2009 14:57

Hi all hope you don't mind me joining in for the moral support. I'm unable to get to class as i'm working the only night it comes to town!! I joined sw in 2000 and lost 3stone in 9 months after i had DS. After ds2 i lost two sone with sw. Now dd is two and i still need to lose two stone!! So any big kicks up the big bum would be helpful!
I'm starting on monday. I've done a full weeks plan and ordered it on line. I'm going to weigh and messure myself every monday morning (if i can find a tape messure??). Please can someone harris me if i'v dived undercover.
I was wondering if anyone would like to put a full weeks rough plan on? 7 brekkies, 7 lunches, 7 teas, snacks etc so we can inspire each other.
Wish me luck!!!

happynewRia · 11/01/2009 15:07

Hi everyone and newbies

I lost 2lb this week Haven't been to class yet as the logistics of childcare are a nightmae and DS3 has been ill.

I have been lent the new plan though and am going to give it a try. I have one question though if anyone knows - do I have to have red and green at every meal, or can I just have a green meal if I want (ie, soup)/ TIA. good luck.

BigHotMama · 11/01/2009 17:14

Hi everyone, can I join this busy thread?

I am hoping to join SW club this week as need to lose around 3-4 stone for my sisters wedding - I am chief bridesdmaid and want to feel and look good on her big day.

Lost almost 2 stone for my wedding 5 years ago so know it definately works just hope I can stick to it as well and get motivated to think of new recipes as tend to get bored eating healthy.

Will be lurking about until I have something useful to add

Good luck!

MyTakenIdentity · 11/01/2009 21:13

If you can stop at 1 hobnob, go for it. If not early night?

why is it so difficult to resist? Good luck with the weigh-in.

(Ria BTW, am having an identity crisis)

MyTakenIdentity · 11/01/2009 21:14

sorry MJB, wasn't questioning your ability to resist, it was a general thought on this torture we call dieting.

MmeJaffaB · 12/01/2009 07:38

I lost..............DRUM ROLL.......

Fairydust

852 ml/11⁄2 pints hot water
2 level tablespoons Bovril
2 x 397 g/14 oz cans chopped tomatoes
pinch of dried basil
pinch of dried mixed herbs
4 sticks celery, chopped
2 onions, sliced
454 g/1 lb mushrooms, chopped
227 g/8 oz cooked chicken, skinned
salt and ground black pepper

Mix the hot water with the Bovril. Add the tomatoes, basil, mixed herbs, celery, onions, mushrooms and chicken. Mix well and pour into a large bowl.
Microwave the soup on high power for 10 minutes, until the vegetables are tender. Purée the soup in a blender or food processor until you have the desired consistency. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve hot. Alternatively, put all the ingredients in a large saucepan and simmer gently for 20 minutes, until tender, before pureeing.

5 syns on green, free on Red!
