Are they still nice if made with water? 1 syn is quite good even for the cheese ones.

I have been eating quite a lot of bacon. I know it is free, but do you think it is OK to eat it every day? I love it and having it is making the whole plan easy, but don't want to keep eating it if it will mean the plan won't work? I always cut off visable fat. And either fry in fry light or do in the george forman grill?

Today I have had:

  • Banana
  • 1 slice of toast with a boiled egg
  • pasta n sauce - made with milk though as didn't know the water bit - can I count as HE rather than syn?
  • strawberries
  • Gammon steak, peas and mash

Might have a kit kat now as my syns or might be really good and have a mullerlight instead!

snottymcgrotty · 11/03/2009 00:59

Yes, you can count the milk you used in the pasta n sauce as part of your HE milk.

As long as you cut all the fat off the bacon and don't fry in butter or suchlike, there is no real limit to how much you have it (as long as it is a red day or extra easy etc).

Good luck and ENJOY ! (I've now only got 13lbs to go to target !! Might actually get there before going back to work)

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 10:31

Great thanks, will bacon away! It is a good way to convince DH that SW is suitable for the whole family too! lol. And he usually eats the fat from mine if he is here! He just keeps getting annoyed with the extra washing up!

I am not loosing weight yet anyway because I am pregnant but want to get in all good habits for when baby is born as I need to loose lots by september when we go to tennerife!

I am making the SW fish and chips tonight. So using my HE B as the breadcrumbs for the fish. Has anybody made these before and have any good tips?

LittleMissFickle · 11/03/2009 10:48

i made fish and chips last night, every one ate and enjoyed them.i sprinkle the chips with paprika.the fish was easy, but i think i would grill next time so i can get some nice crispy bits round the outside.
it has know been a week and i have lost 1 1/2 pounds nearly a bag of sugar

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 11:31

How did you cook it last night LMF? In the oven? That is a good idea about the paprika. Do you think it is ok to do that for a 1 year old too? She eats pretty much anything we give her TBH and isn't fussy in the slightest.

LittleMissFickle · 11/03/2009 12:09

Did the fish in the oven last night,i think the paprika would be fine for your 1 year old

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 12:17

Great. Not sure if I actually have any but will add some to our tesco shop for another day! Will give them a bit more flavour!

andyrobo237 · 11/03/2009 13:08

Hello - there seem to be two SW threads at the moment - so picked this one to barge in on!!

I have been down this route before and lost a stone, but life got in the way of slimming! The only name I recognise off here is Ria - hello!!

I managed to pursuade my local consultant to have a 4.40pm class, as it suited me better. There was another local class around that time but I did not like the consultant at all! This one is a mum at school so I have a private consultation most days at the school gate!

I am not setting a goal, more just to lose some weight before a big birthday in July! Reason being I am diabetic and struggle to lose even half a pound a week! So no stress to achieve a set goal is y new plan (as the others did not work!!)

My aim for this week is to write it all down!!!

snottymcgrotty · 13/03/2009 23:30

Well, 1 1/2 off again this week . Rather chuffed with myself, although absolutely no idea how it happened really !

Our consultant today gave us a "challenge", she called it the "scan bran challenge" !! Suggested that we try to have scan bran as one of our B HE's each day this next wk (although also recommended we increase our fluid intake !). So, in my attempt of this, I've made a scan bran cake tonight - didn't get DH's approval, but he eats with his eyes IYKWIM, mixed one of the new muller light yogurts (orange choc) with the 5 x softened scan brans, egg x 2, cinnamon 1tsp, baking powder 1/4tsp and LOTS of sweetener 5tbsp. It wasn't too bad (just missing a big blob of extra thick double cream!!!), and completely syn free as long as you count the scan bran as HE's (otherwise the whole "cake" is 2.5 syns) - all mixed together and cooked in microwave for 7 mins or so. Might be tastier with some zest in it as well, maybe raisins as well or something like that ??

Sorry, rambling a bit there....... only 11 1/2 lbs to target

LittleMissFickle · 14/03/2009 05:57

Try the sw carrot cake thats quite nice throw it all in the blender
4 Scan Bran (crushed)
5oz carrot (grated)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp runny honey
3 eggs (beaten)
1 weetabix (crushed)
½ tsp mixed spice
1 tsp nutmeg
2 tbsp mincemeat

12 syns for the whole cake,i cook it in bun cases so i can work out how many syns per bun

andyrobo237 · 14/03/2009 07:46

Hmmmm Scan Bran - never appealed to me! I reckon your Consultant has a job lot that is nearing its sell by date and wants to get shut of it!!!

racmac · 14/03/2009 08:25

Seem to have got of to good start on EE but this week had too much bread but apart from that thought id done ok.

It appears not! My weight seems to fluctuate so much - it jumps either way about 3 or 4lb easily. Any ideas why anyone?

How do i get past the bread craving? I struggle with what else to eat! Im used to having a sandwich for lunch and everything else i want to eat i would have bread with - soup, eggs etc.

snottymcgrotty · 14/03/2009 23:48

LOL andyrobo237, that is quite possible !! She did say she'd managed to sell 104 packs last wk , could she be on a bonus ?? >

racmac I tend to keep my B to lunch and either have a sandwich or bread with something like you say. I only buy the 400g loaves now so I'm not tempted into making a sandwich with 2 slices of 800g loaf bread. I don't have bread with breakfast or tea. Other way round it would be to do original or green days then you'd have 2 x HEB's to play with not just one. (although you'd have to use one of them for either meat or carbs depending on which day). On the point of your fluctuating weight, could it be anything to do with fluid intake ? Or hormonal ?

littlemissfickle that is such a good idea to put it into cake cases so you can better judge the syns. How long do you bake for and what temp ?

soon2befamilyof4 · 15/03/2009 08:20

Hi, sorry, I keep getting confused by the 2 threads. Is there any reason everybody is split in 2? I seem to have accidentally gone onto both, before I realised there were 2. But don't want to miss anything from each thread! Makes it a lot harder to keep up with.

From my last converstation on this thread - I made the fish and chips in the end and it was lovely! Had way too many breadcrumbs though leftover but I just baked them on the tray with the fish and DH scoffed them! Was very nice.

I have to say, I have been very impressed with DHs reaction to this diet and the SW foods. He is usually the fussiest eater in the world and was the reason I stopped cooking from scratch before was just that he didn't like anything remotly interesting and made me dislike cooking. But since doing SW a lot of the reciepes have been definatly approved by him! He loves it, and loves the fact we now have something cooked at breakfast!

Our favourites so far have been: fish and chips, goulash meatballs and the cottage pie.

LittleMissFickle · 15/03/2009 14:46

im having a bad few days, started chopping trees down and digging the garden out to make a bigger drive, shifting a ton bag of gravel and a ton pallet of coal and going to parties has made very hungry.Back too it tomorrow.I think i might try goulash meatballs they sound nice.

snottymcgrotty i cook the carrot cake at gas mark 4 for about 30 min.just one little tip they only last about 5 or 6 days before they start going mouldy so dont make a double batch, i bet you could freeze them but i havnt tried that yet.i eat mine with a yogurt on top.

MmeJaffaB · 17/03/2009 22:55

Welcome newbies!

Like Pru, still plodding on, went on holiday and found 5lb, nearly all back off now.

Still beating my body up with copious amounts of cycling, running and dancing, it's good for my mind if nothing else.

Sticking to red and green again for a bit, i find I tend to fall off the horse if I do too many ExE's.

Will try to pop in more often now. Ria how's things sweet? Still no more news on my neice she is coping well with Chemo but it's still on going.

Where is Caykon and Sep......... are you lurking?

andyrobo237 · 18/03/2009 22:07

Hmm hit a wall this week - stayed the same! I thought I had been quite good this week, but like racmac I am not getting on too well with the EE plan. So this week I am going back to mainly red days, to see what that does!

I looked at the scan bran but couldnt vring myself to buy it!

caykon · 19/03/2009 15:23

I haven't been on here in a while, not neglecting sw thankfully just not keeping up with this thread.
Thankyou jaffa for remembering me.

I have been sticking to sw religously now for 8 weeks and have lost 2st 7 1/2 lbs and can really notice the differance.

I haven't had time to read back through all the missed posts but notice everyone is talking about scan bran. I actually don't mind it.
I have it for breakfast, I put 2 in a bowl and cover with hot water, leave it whilst I make drinks and brekkie for rest of the family. then when it has gone all soft I put in a drop of milk, sweetner and sometimes a banana. I quite enjoy it. I then have my other scan bran with soup or beans for lunch.

MmeJaffaB · 20/03/2009 08:24

Caykon........... 2st 7.1/2 lb in 8 weeks.......OMG, you are AMAZING!! Well done you. I bet you feel like a new woman. I remember when I did SW in 2004 it wasn't really til I hit the 2.5 - 3 stone loss that I and everyone else started really noticing, then the praise and compliments kick you on for the next bit. I'm so pleased for you.

OP posts:
MmeJaffaB · 20/03/2009 08:26

How much more would you like to loose Caykon? I still have around 1st 12lb to my target.

OP posts:
caykon · 20/03/2009 14:16

I would still like to loose 4 stone to 5 stone. But really i want to be a size 10ish.
I am currently size 14 top 16 bottom so may not need to loose quite that much. But to be comfortably in a normal weight for my height I need to loose about 5!!!!!

We shall see how it goes!

Riallytoofattoflounce · 27/03/2009 22:15

hey guys, no time to catch up but good to be back. How's it going. I have lost a whole ound! (and probably the same one that's been coming and going for a while)

MJB glad to hear things are no worse for your DN.

The new SW mag came in the post yesterday. I think I need to give the extra easy my full attention for a bit. I need to give DH SW by stealth, not to lose weight, but he is temping ATM with hopes of getting a permanent contract at the same place and his hours are crap (as usual) so I need to be making sure he is eating good stuff to keep going IYSWIM. And if he is eating SW when he comes in at 10.30pm or whatever, I am less likely to shove a pizza in the oven

does anyone have any supermarket tips for mullerlites and mugshots on offer this week? (still skint as DH not fulltime yet)

I will try to catch up over the weekend.

lolpop · 30/03/2009 14:08

Mullerlights on offer at Asda - 4 for £1 and Mug Shots are 4 for £1.50. They also have two boxes of Alpen Light bars for £3.

Riallytoofattoflounce · 30/03/2009 15:27

thanks lolpop. typically Asda is 40 miles away from me
