Got a green day today: having my favourite spring linguine recipe.
It has garlic, chilli, lemon (juice and zest), mushrooms and spring onions lightly sauteed in frylight, when all nicely done, the cooked linguine is stirred in and a little grated curls of fresh parmesan on the top. Yummy! I cheat with a drizzle of olive oil across the top, just for the hint of the flavour, and needs plenty of fresh black pepper too. Mmmm

racmac · 03/03/2009 06:55

Need some inspiration please - i have chicken for tonight and cant think of any exciting way to cook it!

Please let me have some recipe ideas? Not curry - the rest of the family wont eat it

Thanks

Chicken with saute mushrooms is very nice. (if you like mushrooms) Or chop it all up and stuck it in a caserole, with a shake of this and a pinch of that. Onion, mushrooms, red pepper, tin chopped tomatoes, chicken bovril stock, paprika, S&P, mixed herbs. I made a chicken and bowers sausage caserole the other night, It was very good, the family had it with tagletelli but I just had a tin of green beans with it. You could have it with a jp or mash as a HE.

2lb is not great for me tbh, BUT I am happy, I too have recently been doing ALOT of excerise, 1 aerobics, 6hrs danse classes per week and I cycle 12/15km per day and if I don't ride I do a run. (not 12 k though) Yesterday I took a rest day and I was DYING all day to get out on the road. I have definately lost inches, my clothes are hanging.

Not sure what to have today, Dangerous I know but I'll rustle something up.

nikkid21 · 03/03/2009 12:06

I'm on green today. Am having stirfry veg with rice for lunch and then quorn bolognase for dinner.

Have got a couple of danger times today. 1 - am helping at school baking fairy cakes with the year R class - will have to resist the temptation to lick the bowl once the kids have gone back to class.

Dh is also starting a shift of working nights. Evenings once the kids are in bed and i'm on my own are a real danger time.

LittleMissFickle · 06/03/2009 07:02

Yesterday on a green day i had my first quorn burger ever,in a pitta.i mixed quark with 1/2 oz of cheese, xlow fat mayo and onion.put it all in the pitta with burger and salad and a load of chips with brown sauce.
The quorn burger was nearly as good as the real thing,my husband had a bite and said it was better than a real burger.
This morning i am having 2 quorn bangers, beans, toms, mushrooms and scrambled egg.

By the way the quorn burgers and banger are 1/2 price at sainsburys at the moment

ProfYaffle · 06/03/2009 07:25

Oh thank f*ck, I lost 4lbs! Was soooo convinced I wasn't going to lose anything!

I'm off to pil for the weekend tomorrow and it will be impossible to stick to the plan don't want to ruin my good work so far.

dearprudence · 06/03/2009 12:59

Haven't been around for a couple of weeks, but am still plodding on with SW. Had to miss class this week (DH late home from work) so am calling it a maintain.

Nice to see so many new names on here. And I'm very impressed by all the exercise you're all doing. How the hell do you fit it all in??

Steak and SW chips for tea tonight (Friday treat) but NO WINE!

LittleMissFickle · 06/03/2009 13:30

Just made the featured recipe on SW beef danansak, there a hell of a lot of sauce with a few bits of meat floating around.i think i will take half the sauce out add extra chilli and freeze it in batches to eat with my SW chips.i will let you know later what the family think of it.

LittleMissFickle · 06/03/2009 18:17

SW beef dhansak, the family say dont make it again and i agree with them.dont make it dont waste your time or money

applepudding · 06/03/2009 23:48

Hello, I'm fairly new to MN, serial dieter, been doing SW for about 5 weeks, can I join this thread too? I'm following new EE which I think is great, but after losing 4lb in first 2 weeks I've put on and then taken off the same lb.

I made SW chicken dopazia last week from SW magazine and it was really nice - good to be able to eat it with rice too!

LittleMissFickle · 07/03/2009 06:51

Ok i slipped up a bit last night, had 3 cans of stella,i blame it on the horrible beef dhansak had to wash it down with something.start again this morning.applepudding says the chicken dopazia is nice so i will try that in the week.
Day 3 lost 2 1/2 pounds this morning
i bet i put it back on tomorrow

LittleMissFickle · 08/03/2009 06:36

Hi all
had a good day yesterday didnt cheat at all, made a veggie quiche with cottage cheese in that was nice.
Day 4 put 2 1/2 pounds on

never mined tomorrow is another day.
Which works best red or green days ?????

keepingitRia · 08/03/2009 14:00

OK, it's been an odd couple of weeks with one thing and another. DS2 is still washed-out from his viral infection, so I expect him to be off school another couple of days. But I have finished my course, so my evenings will be a bit more free, and DH is going to work on a 1-2 week temping job tomorrow, so I should know his plans in advance (ie, he won't be here!) The treadmill is in the conservatory and is ready and waiting...

I have shopped and roughly planned meals until Wednesday.

Wish me luck!

Hope you are all doing OK and welcome newbies

LMF - I find green days better as the snacking potential is better I am going to do a mixture of Extra Easy & green this week.

LittleMissFickle · 08/03/2009 15:09

Good look keepingitria,i am having a bad day but will start again tomorrow,if im good most of the time its got to help.

keepingitRia · 09/03/2009 12:01

back in the saddle again...

LittleMissFickle · 09/03/2009 12:24

Back on the straight and narrow this morning, full monty beakfast with quorn bangers and a muller light, dinner was a quick wholemeal t-cake with philadelphia light herb garden and tomatoes only 2 syns for 28g.

keepingitRia · 09/03/2009 12:51

I don't like what they have done to the on-line syns calculator.

And I am glad mullerlite are so revolting as I can't afford to eat mroe than one a day

fruit for breakfast, egg may salad sandwich, mullerlite and more fruit for lunch. Quorn sausage, mash & beans for tea, and am going to make a veg chow mein to snack on if I need to.

LittleMissFickle · 09/03/2009 14:21

i know what you mean about the mullers they are a bit pricey,i got mine at sainsburys this week on BOGOF.Think i will make a shepards pie with veg for tea with the tiny bit of meat i can have mixed with quorn mince and one oz of cheese melted on top.

soon2befamilyof4 · 09/03/2009 21:31

Hello - can I join you all? I have been doing SW for about 2 weeks but don't go to a group at the mo as I am pregnant so just really trying to get into the swing of it for when DD2 is born as I want to loose weight straight after she is born.

I have been doing extra easy and gettng on really well with it.

Glad I am not the only one who didn't like the beef dansak - mine was awful and we couldn't even eat it! I was lucky I have a 14 month old who will eat anything and it was very mild so we froze it in little pots for her! Otherwise it would have been wasted and the beef wasn't cheap!

I made the cottage pie from the mag the other day but with lamb because we had that in the freezer that needed using up and it was yummy. And so are the goulash meatballs. Would do both again.

Anybody know if the mullerlight "layers" is still free? I find them nicer than the normal ones and makes a change.

applepudding · 09/03/2009 21:38

I have lost another lb which is brill considering how much I'm eating.

Had fruit & yog for brek, toast and low sugar jam for snack, baked pot and beans for late lunch and spagheti bolognese for tea which I'm pleased at as I made SW friendly with tin of toms and bovril stock rather than my usual sauce jar and dh and ds said it was really nice (normally dh turns his nose up if he know something is supposed to be healthy so I didn't tell him!!)

keepingitRia · 09/03/2009 21:38

Hi there soon2b. the chocolate sprinkle mullers with the fruit layer are 2 syns I think (I was reading the mag earlier), but I aren't 100% sure which are free and which aren't as I don't usually eat yogurt at all. I am just trying harder to stick to it this week.
Sorry my rambling is no help!

LittleMissFickle · 10/03/2009 06:44

good morning all and welcome soon2befamilyof4 looked up mullerlight layer the other day and there 1 1/2 syns and i agree they are nicer than the normal ones.
today i going to have full monty beakfast,a quorn burger for dinner, and fish and chips for tea.i think i will make a quorn chilli and leave it to mature for tomorrow and throw a veg quiche in oven.It very strange my son dosnt like eggs, but as soon as i add cottage cheese and veg and fling it in the oven he loves them.
well done on the 1lb weight loss applepudding, 1lb is actually quite a lot if you pick up a lb of lard and think you have just lost that off your butt.

soon2befamilyof4 · 10/03/2009 19:01

I know I read somewhere that the packets of "pasta n sauce" are free on EE. Can somebody explain this to me? How can it be free? It is full of crap, most are cheesy and you add milk to it??? Surely it can't be completly free? I hope so as I could do with something like that in the cupboard for when I haven't been shopping or being lazy!

I think I will go back to the normal mullerlights so they are free - I like to save my syns for a proper treat like crisps or chocolate!

One thing I don't understand is - if the extra easy is just as good as the red and green, but you don't have to worry about seperating your fooods - why do people still do red/green? Most of the people I know on SW still do red/green but I can't work out why as the extra easy seems so much easier and more flexiable?

LittleMissFickle · 10/03/2009 19:36

some of the pasta n sauce are free, but most of the cheesy ones have 1 syn.there only free if you make them with water not milk and butter.
