⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from ⭐️ LOSE IT! July Jumpstart 2026⭐️

Here we are with our Active August LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!
Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on!

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone
after having been on the wrong side of 12stone.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

I was feeling really good today, had to buy a cardigan in Medium instead of Large for the first time in years, noticed my double chin is gone!- and then saw a photo of my sister who has a 3 month old and a flat stomach and now I'm sad and jealous, which I know is wrong and silly etc etc, but mine is a stretchmarked deflated balloon and my daughter is 8!! Sad

LemonDrizzle23 · 23/08/2026 19:58

@DreamingOfGeneHunt I am also a stretchmarked deflated balloon 8 years post-baby so you are in good company 👌 hopefully by the time they are 9 we will be less deflated!

I have been on the sofa all weekend feeling ill and sorry for myself. Need to woman-up for tomorrow as it’s back to real life and school holidays! Hoping the rest has sorted me out.

I have just under 5 weeks until we go away again and would love to see a 12 on the scale by then. So I’m going to try and be a bit strict for this period and see what happens.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 24/08/2026 07:35

Morning! OMAD here. Had a very nice date yesterday so not especially thinking straight and who knows what I'll eat. Plus work, school hols. Anyway...

FridayNighFeeling · 24/08/2026 15:46

Hi all, hope you found something for your meal @TheWayTheLightFalls

I lost my baby weight quickly both times, but lots of stretch marks and the weight didn't stay off - otherwise I wouldn't be here.

I've been on the scales at I'm at -26.5lbs so not too shabby but would rather be sitting at the 2st loss mark. Hoping that getting into a work routine will be helping, but seeing what I can do this week so I'm less bloated too!

Good luck all the WoWers

TheWayTheLightFalls · 24/08/2026 19:35

Done! Omelette, smoked salmon and toast around 9am, just coffee etc since. I'm ready to eat tmrw but otherwise fine.

WearyAuldWumman · 24/08/2026 22:54

Made myself run round the track at the gym today. I'm using the second half of the Couch to 5k app. 5 minutes walking, 25 minutes running, 5 minute cool down. Only managed just under 6 laps in the running phase.

Followed up with a Pilates class and then a Zumba class for more cardio. I find it easier not to overeat when it's a gym day.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 25/08/2026 07:29

14 stone 7 this morning!

Positivepositron · 25/08/2026 10:08

Can I join please even though the month is nearly over.
I've been losing weight slowly since sometime in beginning of June. Progress is pretty slow so have started tracking calories two weeks ago.
Starting weight was 62kg and am 59.3kg today. Aiming for 50 - 54kg depending how I look. Am doing weights at home and walking. Trying to add in jogging as well as I was thinner when I used to run.

moondip · 25/08/2026 12:30

I’m back to low carb today. It won’t be proper keto as I don’t wanna lose my milk supply, but something has gotta give! Again! Things have gotten so out of hand with my snacking since I dropped off the radar with this thread around the end of June I think. Last night I was taken aback by how much and how quickly I ate (loads of crap); it was a proper binge and left me feeling horrible. I have really tried to feel aware of why I’m doing it - like what feelings am I trying to feel or not feel - and I think it is about just numbing emotions/switching off. When I think about how tucking into a huge sharing size packet of crisps, and then a big chocolate bar, etc., will make me feel, it is like I am seeking to feel “nothing” and know the noise in my head is gonna go off for as long as I take to eat it all, which is never very long of course… I really miss how I was doing and how in control I felt a couple of months back - for want of a better term, as I know it’s not good for it to be about control per se.

I have been “lucky” in the sense that I’ve not really paid for all this on the scales too much because my main meals have all been pretty healthy as I’m usually sharing with my 1yo. It’s the nighttime snacking when she’s asleep that is the problem, and it’s only downhill from here even if I’m not seeing scary gains from it just yet. So, it’s back to the drawing board from today.

Hoping to be 12+ stones by an October holiday but have been consistently losing 1lb a week so looking like 13 stones. But heading in the right direction

FridayNighFeeling · 25/08/2026 19:11

Hugs @moondip recognising the pattern is a good start.

Welcome @Positivepositron I guess you're petite if your goal weight is so low?!

A few days back in the saddle as it were and not doing too badly, but ate out today. Will probably weigh on Saturday.

SW 79.1kg 10/08/26 (BMI 29.1)
CW 77.1kg (BMI 28.3)
GW1 67.9kg (for a BMI under 25)
GW2 63.5kg (BMI 23.3)

10/08/26 79.1kg
19/08/26 77.1kg
26/08/26 77.1kg

Last week had 2 days in a row of eating out (cafe/cake, lunch one day and theme park burgers/chips/ice cream another) and have not been logging on MFP/weighing so a few extra slices of cheese or squares of chocolate have been creeping in. Plus stress of being back to work after 6 weeks holiday and sorting the kids out for back to school.

Trying to find my balance and rhythm now with a new schedule for work/school/extra curricular. Have need up with way too many appointments/errands to get done this week so head is spinning a bit. Off now for a big shop to get in plenty of veggies.

Plan for today
-boiled egg, 1 slice rye/wholewheat toast with butter, 2 x coffee with milk
-aubergine parmigiana (if I can get my shit together to make it!)
-potato and bacon bake with green veg on the side

Off now to tick off my errands form my to do list and BBL to catch up on thread.

LemonDrizzle23 · 26/08/2026 08:33

Morning WOWers! Well done for checking in.

Ive been feeling awful for nearly a week now - but I think I’m starting to feel better today? Fingers crossed…

Happy scale reckons I’ve put on about 2.5lbs in a week, which I’m hoping is not entirely true! So I’m ignoring it today. I’m guessing it’s just extra carb water.

Only one week left of the summer hols here and I’m actually feeling a bit sad! This is definitely the easiest summer break we’ve ever had - I guess as DS is a bit older now. But I am so looking forward to autumn. The best season!

RoseInAPot · 26/08/2026 08:53

Good morning WOWers and well done to those posting with good news or bad,

I’m using my Happy Scale trend weight, and started on 24th June (9 weeks ago) with a weight of 66.5kg.

I hit my first milestone (65.2kg) on 13th July but went back up to 65.4kg. Hit that first milestone again last week and trying to make it stick this time.

Trend weight 65.1kg this morning. Another tiny amount but in the right direction!

My actual weight this morning was 65kg, which reflects the fact I have very much eaten all my calories this week, with only an average daily deficit of 70.

Heavy weekend on the cake, wine, and ice cream front but managed to pull myself back on the past 2 days. It's been quite a sociable summer and I have another event this weekend but September looks very quiet so I'm hoping to make some decent progress.

Still smashing it on the exercise front: an average of 14350 steps over the last 7 days and 4 weight sessions. I am faithfully logging every calorie on Nutracheck and if I wasn't exercising I would certainly be gaining.

According to the trend then I’ve lost 1.4kg in total in 9 weeks. My next goal is to break the psychological barrier of 10 stones (63.5kg) and break through this self-inflicted sticky patch. Hoping to see more 64's on the scales this week.

Bufftailed · 26/08/2026 08:57

Well done everyone keeping going. Happy Scale says I am down 0.6 kg this week despite actual weight being 0.3 kg higher. I accept the process wiil be slow

SW 84
CW 80
GW 72 kg

We just keep going!!

Yes I'm 5foot1. Up until having children I was around 45kg but think 50 -54 is probably more plausible these days.

ToddlersAreBananas · 26/08/2026 09:38

I'm noticing that lots of you are using Happy Scale Trend? I'm curious - what is this? An app?

@LemonDrizzle23 it's so nice you can reflect on a good holiday

@PatienceOfEngels you've inspired me for dinner - I'm going to go and get aubergines (and maybe a bigger baking tray) to make parmigano.

Aubergine parmigano with new potatoes and salad and coleslaw : YuUuMmMm

ToddlersAreBananas · 26/08/2026 09:43

@RoseInAPot an average of 14.5k steps a day is very impressive! Do you run to achieve that?

SW 12st 10lbs (20th July)
CW 12st 0lbs
GW 11st
Height 5ft 7in

1lb down since last Wednesday. Going on the right direction and feeling good.

Done something to my hip so no exercise for a week other than small weeks. Hoping to get back to running this weekend.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 26/08/2026 10:17

Very close to 14 stone 6 this morning!! I'm so glad I didn't give up and undo all my hard work when I was stuck at 14/9.
I usually get 12300/500 steps on an average day. Might be a bit less today as I'm not planning much.
I'm making an old Crank's vegetarian thing for dinner, with tomatoes from the allotment.
