⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from ⭐️ LOSE IT! July Jumpstart 2026⭐️

Here we are with our Active August LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!
Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on!

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone
after having been on the wrong side of 12stone.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

ToddlersAreBananas · 26/08/2026 09:43

@RoseInAPot an average of 14.5k steps a day is very impressive! Do you run to achieve that?

Not currently @ToddlersAreBananas though I am threatening to start couch to 5k this winter. I have had both hips replaced, last one in March so I'm technically still recovering.

I get my steps in with an hour's walk with the dogs first thing (which is pretty slow but hilly) and then about an hour on the treadmill at a slightly faster pace while I watch an episode of something on the tv. I'm just off the treadmill now and my steps are so far at 11500 and I've covered 7.3km.

The rest of the steps are from general pottering in the house and garden.

WearyAuldWumman · 26/08/2026 12:23

The squinty floor shows me as 13st13.5 or 14st. (Had to have the floor lifted and relaid and realised that it's slightly off.)

The kitchen floor claims I'm 13st 13lbs, so I'll stick with that, thank you very much.

Next intermediate goal - my engagement weight: 13 st 10.

I have the gym today: Senior Flex and - this is going to be awkward - Running Club overlapping with Active for Life.

The instructors know. Haven't told my pal yet - haven't seen her for a fortnight.
The plan is to pick her up for A for Life, have twenty minutes there and scoot to Running Club for half an hour and then pick up pal. Running Club is only 6 weeks.

Re: Steps

A friend sent me one of those Timex watches that's supposed to count steps. The watch works, the stopwatch works, but I'll be damned if I can get it to count my steps. Think I'm following the instructions okay, but who knows.

ToddlersAreBananas · 26/08/2026 12:43

@RoseInAPot that's really impressive!
@WearyAuldWumman I use my very inaccurate phone to count my steps. I think I average about 3k 😅 but, tbf, I do leave it lying around or pop it in the pram when I go for a walk (which is twice a week at most...).

Plan for this week - do more exercise! ... might see if baby will allow me to go into the garden later: it needs a bit of a weed!

WearyAuldWumman · 26/08/2026 12:52

@ToddlersAreBananas Think I'll have to go back to using my phone. I just need to remember to have pockets...

I won't tell the pal. They were being really nice, had seen the watch on offer on Amazon and ordered it be sent straight to me.

FridayNighFeeling · 26/08/2026 12:56

Ah definitely petite then @Positivepositron :)

Well done weighers.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 26/08/2026 13:58

Regarding step counting, I've given up entirely on anything other than an old fashioned pedometer with batteries in that I clip to my waist.

Fellsbells · 26/08/2026 14:20

Well done wowers. I’m 3lbs up after 4 days off tracking and weighing. I expect a good chunk of that is water weight. I’ve got a few lbs give anyway so quiet frankly I’m not bothered.

ChunkyMonkey36 · 26/08/2026 15:35

No weigh in for me this week - we’re on holiday for the last week of the holidays, in sunny/rainy/cloudy Scotland.

Food hasn’t been the best, but I’ve been on my feet a lot so hopefully not doing too much damage. I’ll assess the impact when we get home!

LemonDrizzle23 · 26/08/2026 19:30

@WearyAuldWumman always go with the more flattering floor for weighing 😂

moondip · 26/08/2026 20:10

Evening all 🫡
I am giving myself a couple of days to settle into the LCHF, so I’ll start daily weighing on Monday with Happy Scale and will do next week’s WoW!

Well done today’s WoWersss x

Absolutely!

You are losing weight fast! What do you do?

Calorie deficit and moving more! Aiming for a 1lb a week loss (the earlier weeks i lost more because of the sudden change in diet I think).

I'm 5ft7 and eating 1550 calories a day so a decent deficit.
Walk between 7000-10000 steps a day because of going to and from nursery and then a lunchtime walk. Generally sticking to the deficit and only had a couple of days of 2000+ calories.

Doing C25k for the last 6 weeks has helped a lot - mainly because when I exercise I find sticking to the calories deficit easier. Like a mindset shift.

10kstepsaday · 27/08/2026 10:52

Hello All I fell off this thread at beginning of August - the 6 weeks holidays have just massively thrown my normal routine out the window, weve been so busy, I've spent a small fortune and it's just been chaos 🤣

I weighed in this morning and braced myself - I am basically back where I started in June!! So that's not great, but I am determined to get back into it again.

I have re downloaded MFP and aiming for 1400 calories a day, with as much whole food/homemade food as possible. Currently using the Deliciously Ella books for new recipes which I am enjoying.

Easing myself back into the exercise, just to get into routine again - this morning I did 15 minutes of a walking YT workout. I plan to take the kids out for a walk later too - if the weather is not too crazy as we are expecting storms.

Today's Weight = 10 st 7.4 lbs, 33.0% Body Fat
Goal Weight = 9 st 7.0

Breakfast : Oats, Banana, Almond Milk, Chia Seeds, Raisins
Lunch: Sauteed Potato, Kale & Hummus
Dinner: Homemade carbonara

LemonDrizzle23 · 27/08/2026 19:59

Well, apart from a residual headache, I think I’m actually almost well again. My diet has continued to be quite junk filled - once you get into the pattern of it, it’s hard to pull yourself out. Especially when you’re ill!

@10kstepsaday the summer hols do make things trickier! School routine starts again next week…

Family over this weekend. Healthy food planned, just need to avoid the booze.

FiveShelties · 27/08/2026 23:24

Oh no! My name is FiveShelties and not only was I 70 🎂🍷yesterday but my weight has increased to 11 stone 0.2 Pounds after four days away. Stamps feet.

So back to it today.................. again.................... 😂

socks1107 · 28/08/2026 08:18

Well after a good initial break through on GLP1 after being stuck for six months my weight had increased. My crime - eating 350 calories more one day.
So now my holiday goal for next week will be the next in a longline I fail to reach. I seem to get so close to 10.5 and in the weeks before a holiday my body just says no.
after 20 months of dieting and loosing all this weight someone still gave up their seat for me on the tube this week assuming I was pregnant. It’s absolutely spoilt my week.
will try cutting carbs this week and see if that helps the scale drop ( doubt it but anything is worth a shot now)

Happy birthday for yesterday! 🎂

FiveShelties · 28/08/2026 12:03

@DreamingOfGeneHunt thank you so much. The last 30 years have gone so quickly, I cannot believe I am 70. Hope the next 30 years don't go as quickly 😂

10kstepsaday · 28/08/2026 19:38

@LemonDrizzle23 I am looking forward to school routine again for sure!!

Hope you are ok @socks1107😥

Today was 15 mins walking workout, short and sweet.
Breakfast: Berry Smoothie
L: Sauted Potatoes, Kale and Hummus
D: KFC 🤣 but I did make it fit into my calories! I had a twister wrap and a portion of chips and that's it.

LemonDrizzle23 · 28/08/2026 22:29

I’m sorry @socks1107 I can hear your frustration.

Happy Birthday @FiveShelties - if you can’t have a gain over your birthday, when can you?!

Well I think my brain is finally catching up to my weight loss. I was sitting opposite a mirror in a restaurant today and could finally see the change in my face. Quite nice, as I am currently mid-sulk about overeating for the last two weeks of holiday and illness.

In the grand scheme of things I have done well so far - I can do more!

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 30/08/2026 08:20

Morning all! Hope everyone is well. Lovely day here and I am 14 stone 5lbs!!!!!

BMI 29!!! I'm not obese!! Yes I know it's by a tiny bit but it's the principle!

ToddlersAreBananas · 30/08/2026 17:10

Hello everyone,
I've been thinking - when do you weigh yourselves?
Do you all measure first thing in the morning, or last thing at night? Should I weigh in with my clothes on or off, before or after breakfast?
I've always weighed first thing, but I've realised that's not my true weight...

FridayNighFeeling · 30/08/2026 17:25

Well done @DreamingOfGeneHunt that's progress for sure!

I do morning @ToddlersAreBananas , after I've been to the toilet and before I eat anything. Why is that not your "true" weight and does it matter? As long as you're consistently comparing the same thing and the scales are moving in the right direction, you're fine!

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 30/08/2026 18:27

@ToddlersAreBananas yes I weigh myself first thing, no clothes on, after I've been to the loo.

@FridayNighFeeling thank you! So pleased with myself!
