⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from ⭐️ LOSE IT! July Jumpstart 2026⭐️

Here we are with our Active August LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!
Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on!

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone
after having been on the wrong side of 12stone.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Hi @TheRealHousewife thank you for the new thread. I’m leaping on for August!

Would love to see another 2 or 3lbs off in August, and then aim to see my next big goal in September.
Only going away for one week in the month, so definitely possible!

10kstepsaday · 30/07/2026 16:42

Checking in for August!
Lost a grand total of half a pound for July 😅 so need to lock back in. Let's go!!

Thank you for the new thread 🙂

FlyingWithBabyLongHaul · 30/07/2026 19:48

Finally joining one of these threads after reading them for so long!

Starting weight: 10st 7lbs (after having 2 babies in 2 years) 👶🏻👶🏻
Current weight: 8st 8lbs
Target weight: 8st 0lbs

My current plan is to eat maintenance calories for the next couple of weeks as I've been eating in a deficit for what feels like forever! I'll then go back calorie counting, and continuing with daily walking, and a 1 hour Bootcamp class (twice a week).

Joyful26 · 30/07/2026 21:37

Hi there, this thread would be perfect for me so I would love to join please?

I’m going to have time in August to work on my health, fitness and diet, so it will be great to have some guidance while I do it.

I’ve been ‘trying’ for years but keep on giving up.
I’m now realising I’ve got to make a proper effort. As continuing as I am is going to make me much fatter, as it just keeps piling on round my stomach.

I’m nearly 50 and a few of my friends have diabetes and health issues. I can now see that I’m on the borderline of all that.

I generally think of myself as a fit and healthy person. But I basically eat too much.

I’ve just been on a group holiday and realised that I basically eat more than everyone else m. There’s not really some secret or conundrum as to why I’m overweight- I just eat more.

my stats are: 5’6 and 75kg. Size 14-16.

this year I wanted to get under 70kg. That is feeling hard as I’m going in the opposite direction. Started the year at 72kg.

Fellsbells · 30/07/2026 21:57

Thank you @TheRealHousewife checking in for August.

BreakingBroken · 31/07/2026 01:12

place marking for august 1st.
i love august!! i hope to see my motivation level increase.

Rosetime · 31/07/2026 09:21

@TheRealHousewife , thank-you for the new thread. How is the bite going? Swelling fully resolved?

I haven't posted for some weeks but i have been reading the posts.
I have been keeping up (not excellently) - with my steps, water intake, strength training and sleep.

Calorie counting continues to go well. Depending on the day, I am 3.7 - 4kg away from my target weight.

TealSloth · 31/07/2026 11:11

Checking in thankyou

DandelionPockets · 31/07/2026 16:10

Joining this month.

FiveShelties · 01/08/2026 03:39

May I join please? I have been messing about all year, probably lost around 6 pounds every month and then regained 6.5 pounds every month!

So August has to be the month I do the losing and stop the regaining.😁I will be 70 this month and this has to stop.

Weighed in at 151.4 pounds and want to be 143, so 8.4 to go. I intend to lose by sticking to 1400 calories, walking 11,000 steps and dramatically reducing alcohol.

Have a great August everyone.

LemonDrizzle23 · 01/08/2026 06:51

Officially the 1st of August! I was going to do a weigh in, but according to the scales I’ve put on 2lbs in the last 2 days, so I’m ignoring that 😂

Lets call August start weight 13 st 5.5.

Fellsbells · 01/08/2026 07:43

First of the month stats round up. 10 weeks of a consistent, sustainable calorie deficit. Exactly 1 stone off.

I’m slowly increasing calories now to find my maintenance amount. I know from past experience this is where I can gain weight quickly if I don’t stay in the right mindset. I need to keep the same habits, but with slightly more calories.

Good luck for August everyone.

Mags2014 · 01/08/2026 07:48

Hi guys, I'd like to join from this month too 😊

I've been in slump for a while after losing about 7kgs last year and I can see the weight is slowly creeping up when I actually have another 10-15kgs to lose but I feel motivated to get back on it.

Also my partner who's always been slim and has no issues with motivation has joined a gym and she is now seriously toned with a little 2-pack and seeing her has inspired me to get back on it!

Rosetime · 01/08/2026 09:03

Welcome @FiveShelties and @Mags2014 . Here's to not regaining lost & unwanted weight.

This month of August, i plan to focus on my strength training and water intake.

Joyful26 · 01/08/2026 11:22

Morning everyone! Wishing you all good luck with your weight-loss journeys this month!

I planned my food on My Fitness Pal last night and have stuck to it so far!

today is coming in at 1600, generally I will be between 1800-2000 but never over that.

TheRealHousewife · 01/08/2026 11:38

Good Morning & Happy 1st August ☀️

Welcome to the thread @LemonDrizzle23 @10kstepsaday @FlyingWithBabyLongHaul @Joyful26 @Fellsbells @BreakingBroken @Rosetime @TealSloth @FiveShelties @Mags2014@DandelionPockets Let’s hope we have a successful losses this August 🤞

Thank you for the well wishes. The inflammation/redness has more or less disappeared and is now bruised looking. Some swelling remains. More importantly, due to the swift action of my GP/Nurse the cellulitis was nipped in the bud. Could be left with a small scar.

Julys weight loss goals did not go that well for me due to a severe infection. Nearly 1 week of antibiotics under my belt with another 3 weeks to go I’m hoping I can at least maintain rather than gain another 4/5 lbs! Not stressing about it, it is what it is.

@LemonDrizzle23Ive sometimes ignore my scales too 😅

Menu
Meal 1 - Avocado & sprouted lentils on gf sourdough.
Meal 2 - Steak & salad. Fresh Peaches & cream.
Drinks - Tea, black coffee, green tea, water.

Sharing Action for Happiness Calendar ❤️

Weight has been up and down over the past year. Mostly settles at 14 stones 4lbs. However, my size has definitely gone down - I'm fitting into clothes that didn't quite fit a year ago and some of my clothes now look awful on me because they're too baggy.

I've been doing quite a lot of exercising and joined the leisure centre Running Club just over a couple of months ago. A fortnight ago I had my first Park Run. Never thought I'd do it, but finished 147 out of 151 in 54 minutes 24 seconds.

We had a a 7 wk training session to prepare for it - the first running I'd done in 40 yrs.

I'm hoping that the added cardio will help boost a calorie deficit.

Have had just over a week off, following dental surgery. (A pesky impacted wisdom tooth. Apparently, the older you are, the harder it is to get the thing out. I'm still quite bruised and sore.)

10kstepsaday · 01/08/2026 13:51

August start weight is exactly the same pretty much as July start weight !! What a write off July was for me. Boooo!!

Weigh this morning = 10 st 5.6
Goal is 9 st 7 lb

I am trying to make lots of recipes from scratch using my Deliciously Ella book. And increase workouts to be more consistent.

NSV was I bought a new pair of size 12 jeans and although I still think a 10 would have been too tight, the 12s are comfortable baggy! Hurrah!!

DontSingSusan · 01/08/2026 14:03

Can I join too please? Always looking for tips and advice.

I've been doing IF (16:8) most days since last November and have barely lost any weight! I do feel good on it though.

I'm 5'7" and 66kg. I'd love to get down to 60kg but I have a very stubborn bit of belly fat.

@10kstepsaday When we only have a relatively small amount of weight to lose frustratingly it seems to really slow down. Keep going I’m sure it happen 🙏 Well done on your NSV 👍

Welcome to the thread @DontSingSusan . May I ask how old you are. In my case as I’ve got older I’ve developed insulin resistance which makes it’s difficult to lose my tummy chub.

Thanks so much @TheRealHousewife

Have lost 2.5 kg since I started in June Happy Scales tells me, but I am bouncing around that. Would very much like to lose 2 kg this month and also have 2 x 10 k in September. Focusing on good sleep and lower cortisol, eating sensibly and having dinner as early as possible. Good luck everyone 🍀🍀

CW 81.5 kg
GW 72 kg

DontSingSusan · 01/08/2026 14:17

I'm 45 and in perimenopause, so I assume hormones are partly to blame. I've cut down massively on alcohol and exercise every day.
