Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs. Currently I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

Mackerel stuff red peppers sound delish @TheRealHousewife

Does anyone find spinach hard to store when it's hot? I find mine goes off so quickly even if kept in fridge and the smell once it's even a tiny bit gone is horrendous!!
Wonder if there is a magic trick to storage 🤣

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 04/07/2025 18:15

We've got a new fridge @frostedshreddie and I've had some spinach in there all week and it was fine up to last night - used some on Monday/Tuesday for salad and put the rest in a curry last night. Buying a new fridge is a bit drastic though Wink

frostedshreddie · 04/07/2025 18:26

🤣 that did make me chuckle though!
Maybe it is Tesco's brand spinach? We got some potatoes from sainsburys last week and they lasted so much longer than Tesco brand 🤔

LemonDrizzle23 · 04/07/2025 20:13

@frostedshreddie In the heat we’ve just had, I’m not sure British supermarkets always manage to transport and store stuff at quite the temperature it needs! I tried to buy some raspberries the other day but there was a rotten / fluffy one in every single box 🤢

Today I accidentally found a walking route around my town that’s exactly 5km (literally to the meter!) So I will be adopting that for a while and aiming to increase my speed.

Went out for lunch today, and also had a (reasonably healthy) takeaway for dinner. But feeling very full now. Focused on a healthy rest of the weekend!

Fellsbells · 04/07/2025 20:16

About to try on dress options for tomorrow. I’ve literally no idea if they’re going to be too tight to wear or absolutely fine. Dress lottery!

QueenMabby · 05/07/2025 06:37

biscuitcat · 04/07/2025 11:20

I love hearing everyone’s meal plans!

Today I’ve had Greek yoghurt with honey and raspberry chia jam for breakfast, lunch tbc depending on time, and planning spinach garlic gnocchi for dinner - yum!

If anyone has any suggestions for easy fibre increases I’d be hugely appreciative, I’m definitely not having enough as I think I’m tending towards lower fibre fruits and veggies (the raspberry chia jam is an attempt to combat this!).

I take psyllium husk capsules. I buy them on Amazon. About 4g of fibre per capsule and I take two every morning with my breakfast. I track my fibre on my calorie tracking app and aim for at least 25g a day.

TheRealHousewife · 05/07/2025 09:00

Good Morning

I had a weigh-in - STS 🤷‍♀️ Bugger! I did go off piste yesterday and had a mushroom risotto which are very carby but nonetheless tasty 😋 I better get my big stick ready (Basil Faulty style) because the scale with cop it on Wednesday if I STS again 😈

@frostedshreddie It was delicious - 12g carbs, 25g protein, 375 calories. I mix the mackerel with cream cheese, crumbled feta, chopped spring onion and seasonings. You can have them hot or cold. Yesterday we had them cold. They work better in a pointy pepper (cut lengthways) but yesterday we had bell pepper but still works.

Menu
Meal 1 - Spinach, red pepper & onion frittata. Side salad.
Meal 2 - Chicken Burrito Bowl. Greek yoghurt & berries.
Drinks - Tea, black coffee & water.

76.8kg today! Looks like I lost a kg, but actually I just started my period. I knew it was on its way. Every month I am shocked at how awful it makes me feel, despite having had one for 20 years.

If I can improve my lifestyle habits during PMS, I can do anything, so looking forward to the week ahead!

SummerOak · 05/07/2025 09:10

@StudyWasp PMS is what gets me every time. I just go off track as I crave both sweet and savoury and constantly hungry.
What did you do this time that worked for you?

GoodNamesOnly · 05/07/2025 09:47

Hi, thank you for the warm and thoughtful welcome, especially @Fellsbells and @LegoTherapy . I was hiding away yesterday as I ate pizza and drank wine. Didn't particularly want the pizza, but was rushing after work to feed son who was going on a trip. So that's a lesson to myself to be better organised with healthy food in the house. I definitely did want the wine, but it actually turned out I had bought low calorie 7% wine, which didn’t impress me too much last night, but seems like a blessing today!

I also weighed myself yesterday and had lost 0.9kg from last week. Last week is when I got my fitness tracker and consciously decided to walk more, so it feels good that that may be paying off. I averaged 13k steps a day, which seems okay. Until last year I used to walk an hour each way to work, so I was used to getting loads of steps. I am doing a 45 min walk in the mornings now before work, 20 min at lunch and then ideally walk again after work.

I don't have a 'plan', but maybe if I write meals down I will feel more accountable to stick to them.

Meals planned for today
B - wholemeal toast and marmite
L - full fat cottage cheese, ham, salad, apple
D - prawn stir fry and rice
Snacks - blueberries
Drinks- coffee, water, wine

socks1107 · 05/07/2025 10:55

Despite my wobbles, my tantrums when the scale stuck and the odd Macdonalds - I hit the initial goal, and a touch more, that I set myself in January!! A week ahead of schedule 🎉. 15kg gone!

SW 89kg
CW 74kg
GW 75kg

another 10 to do between now and end of September but this was the first target for my first holiday! So so happy this morning.

thanks to @TheRealHousewifefor stating these monthly threads 🥰

LegoTherapy · 05/07/2025 12:07

@socks1107thats great!

56kg dead on this morning which is 8st 11lb. That’s a lot of butter lost this month already as I’m 1.3kg down.

I think I’m going to have some yogurt and strawberries and raspberries for breakfast. Yes, I know it’s lunch time but I didn’t get up until 11 today. I’ve been exhausted lately. Over 8 miles walked yesterday on 1200 calories. I’m up to 45 miles walked this week which is poor considering it’s already Saturday and I’m having a day at home today and will mainly be building Lego.

keep going everyone!

GoodNamesOnly · 05/07/2025 13:50

@socks1107 that's an amazing loss and well done for sustaining it. You are my inspiration. I also started in January at 84kg, lost 5kg in January but then put it back on again. Starting again now at 82.9kg last week. Not sure yet what my target should be.

@SummerOak I think eating an absolute shed load of grapes. They're sweet af. I will allow myself to eat as much "fancy fruit" as I want during PMS (cherries, grapes, strawberries) - i justify it by saying that a punnet of fancy fruit is much cheaper and healthier than getting a takeaway.

I also exercise - but only easy exercise. You won't catch me at the gym or sprinting during PMS. I absolutely will walk everywhere though.

Journaling how I feel has been a recent addition and one I've really loved. Very cathartic and guilt free.

LegoTherapy · 05/07/2025 23:12

I made a pizza tonight with whole meal flour and my own sauce. Loaded it with red pepper, mushroom and one ring of pineapple and a lot of mozzarella. Total carbs for the day 150g. I’ve been reading so much on pre-diabetes and everything seems aimed at those who are overweight and inactive. Diabetes UK say the science isn’t solid on low-carb diets. I’m seeing the GP on Friday and will hopefully get some answers. I feel very restricted and like I no longer feel like I will enjoy food on holiday when we go. The plan was plenty of chips and ice cream 😩 my Dd is already wondering why I’m not joining in with our weekend nighttime hot chocolate. “Being healthier” isn’t going to wash on holiday.

Raindancer411 · 06/07/2025 00:34

After losing 4.7lb in a week, I weighed myself today as forgot to on Wednesday and I am up 0.7lb, even though I have calorie counted and been really good. I take it that’s just a normal fluctuation??

WearyAuldWumman · 06/07/2025 02:05

No gym Saturday.

Down to 14st 5 - only 5 lbs lighter than I was in October, but I'm having wardrobe issues.

I bought two sale sundresses from Asda's. Same design, same size - 20. One black, one blue.

The black fitted perfectly, provided I tied it round the back instead of the front. The blue was a bit bigger in the bust and arms, but worked if I wore a black vest top under.

Tried them both on. I now need to wear a vest top under the black. The blue looks ridiculous - the bust darts are now heading towards my waist. That'll be going to the charity shop.

I find it hard to believe that five pounds could make such a difference.

@SummerOak can I also recommend frozen grapes? I know it sounds loony but they taste like little ice creams. I think I eat half a punnet a night at the mo.

Well done @LegoTherapy , @socks1107 !
Lego , reading your post I wondered if you had tried biltong or beef jerky as a high protein snack?

Yesterday wasn’t great food wise - skipped breakfast but then needed to collect DF from Heathrow which took ages. Shared a toastie with DD, drank a black coffee. Then a busy afternoon, so I only ate a meal at 6pm. Then grapes. So I am down a bit today but it’s not from a healthy day of eating! We are off to a theme park today; I think I will aim for two meals a day and try to hold back on snacks and sugary drinks.

LemonDrizzle23 · 06/07/2025 08:10

@WearyAuldWumman I bet all the working out is changing your body shape. So it’s 5lbs loss, plus a change in body composition and muscle mass.

@Raindancer411 definitely expect fluctuations. The app Happy Scale is useful for this as it “smooths out” the data a bit and allows you to see overall if you’re trending up or down, ignoring temporary blips.

Well I am 1lb down since WOW and now exactly 200lbs. One of my goals this month was to get under 200, so hopefully I’ll tick that one off by next WOW.

Raindancer411 · 06/07/2025 08:40

@LemonDrizzle23Thanks, I shall look at that

LegoTherapy · 06/07/2025 10:13

Are frozen grapes as good as frozen Maltesers??

@TheWayTheLightFallsI don’t eat meat or fish or eggs. I actually met my protein goal yesterday. I rarely do and I’m so focused on the carbs. I’m really hoping the GP is helpful. She’s pretty good generally so I think she’ll be helpful or point me in the right direction. I really need a dietician to work with me and all my restrictions. My favourite meal used to be omelette with a jacket potato and peas up until around age 19 then I went off eggs unless scrambled until like rubber or egg mayo. Quickly off those. Then egg mayo started making me feel sick and giving me awful cramps so that was out. They have always been something I’ve been repulsed by in their raw state.

In other news the whole meal crust pizza worked great on the old digestive system!

I made a 50/50 loaf with seeds on top yesterday and will have a slice of that toasted this morning for breakfast. Yogurt for lunch. Maybe risotto for dinner.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

Happy scale is great. I love seeing the downward trend in green and the tumblers turn. The upward in red isn’t fun at all and inspires me to make changes.

well done everyone on these amazing losses! So I indulged last night, I had lost 1.5lbs this week and me and DH had Chinese as a treat, woke up this morning and I’m a whopping 5LBS heavier than I was yesterday am. I expected a couple of lbs of water retention…but 5LBS!!

WearyAuldWumman · 06/07/2025 11:31

I kept getting slightly different results when I weighed the other day, so plumped for the heavier one. Scales are now giving me 14st 4lbs.

I'm hoping that there is a change in body composition @LemonDrizzle23 . I know that I lost a great deal of muscle mass 4 yrs ago and I still haven't fully remedied matters. A dress that used to fit at this size about 15 yrs ago (I know...but I like it...) goes on, but is like a sausage skin on me.

My abs are an absolute disgrace, but the dress is also tight across the top so I think that the fat to muscle ratio on the back must be to blame. I'm not surprised - when I was at my hospital appointment, there was a poster on the wall explaining how much muscle mass older folk lose when they do nothing.

frostedshreddie · 06/07/2025 16:28

@bonnie199it will soon come back down. I always fly up loads day after anything salty or very carb heavy!

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 06/07/2025 16:46

@frostedshreddie this was from Ocado ooh la la but ironically I find most of their things (M&S) are a lot shorter date than Tesco would be. Who knows!?

I got on the scales the other day - Friday maybe and was back at my starting weight, so I imagine that it will fluctuate, but hopefully go back down again. Was at a party last night with finger food outside my new normal eating time and we've got home made Sticky toffee pud for tonight, but I haven't eaten lots today so not going to stress over it.

Have a good week all, I will check in on Wednesday.
