Following on from ☀️LOSE IT!☀️Joyful June 2025☀️

OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Summers arrived!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body. To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs. Currently I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

@LegoTherapy Vit C for constipation. Get some chewables from the supermarket/boots/H&B and start with half a 500mg tablet. I take it with my iron to counteract the side effects. I take mine in the afternoon and it works the next morning Blush

LemonDrizzle23 · 02/07/2025 07:12

Morning WOWers! Well done to everyone weighing in today. It’s pretty much a maintain for me, which after a weekend away and refusing to move in 30C heat for several days seems fair enough!

SW: 15 st 8
CW: 14 st 5

Im hoping to meet / cross several goals this month:

  1. Seeing a 13 on the scale (maybe!)
  2. Dropping to under 200lbs
  3. Reaching 20lbs lost

So, I have a plan. Just need to stick to it 😂 At least it’s bloody cooled down this morning!

LegoTherapy · 02/07/2025 07:13

Checking in for WOW with 8st 13lb.

@BlueOysterCultGroupieI get lots of vitamin C and take a multivitamin due to my restricted diet but thank you.

@StudyWaspI restrict UPFs and its changed my taste for things like sweets. I don’t enjoy them anymore at all. Chocolate yes, but not sweets. Also things like Warburtons bread rolls that we used to have regularly with veggie burgers. They taste awful to me now. I make my own bread but not as often as I used to due to eating porridge for breakfast most days. I make my own pasta sauces and pizza bases and never buy shop bought cakes. Biscuits I do but not often. We like a Starbucks Frappuccino occasionally but otherwise only drink water, tea, or milk for Ds. I only eat salted crisps and prefer lentil chip type ones to potato based ones but then I’ve never been a fan of walkers type crisps. Pringles are in my opinion disgusting. The dc are annoyed I won’t let them eat them but they make ds’s behaviour challenging as do colourings so a minimal UPF diet has been good for us. Wildfarmed bread rolls and baguettes are amazing from waitrose. They may sell them elsewhere but not at the small asda near me.

Thank you for the recommendation @LegoTherapy ! I definitely can see that minimal UPF is good for behaviour - I even notice my mood improves on a UPF-free diet.

I've been making my own ice cream/ice lollies which has been an absolute godsend because I feel like I can't overeat it because I'm using "real" ingredients.

PatienceOfEngels · 02/07/2025 07:45

I am absolutely melting. Had such an awful night with the heat - felt dizzy and sick when I crawled out of bed at 5:30.

37 here yesterday and 37 today as well before storms in the evening. It's 27 now and it's not even 9am so the house hasn't cooled down more than a degree overnight.

Today I will mostly be drinking water and eating ice lollies 🍡

CraigLogansForehead · 02/07/2025 07:52

Morning All. Will catch up later as finding the app a nightmare on my phone.

SW: 184.6 (6-Jan)
CW: 167.5
GW: 140

Had a really good first day back on track yesterday, cardio in the morning, total of 1260 cals and no rubbish food or alcohol. But I’d forgotten I had an appointment to donate blood yesterday evening - not the best day to start 🙄. Didn’t want to risk exercise this morning so discipline is v important today. On the plus side I lost 2lbs since yesterday 😂.

It was so good to not have indigestion last night. I genuinely feel better after just one day.

mermadeincornwall · 02/07/2025 08:10

Weight loss 1.5 lbs 😊

Thanks for advice

Love the graphics on new thread @TheRealHousewife heart 💕

socks1107 · 02/07/2025 08:16

1/2 a pound this week so my second plateau this year continues. Which means I’m struggling to be where I’d hoped for out holiday and ill
likely bump up into the next stone bracket during said holiday.
added to a forced return to a desk job I’m still feeling very fed up and demotivated with this. I stick to plan every single day so I’ve really had enough tbh

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 02/07/2025 08:53

Other option is magnesium oxide. Other than that I have no advice @LegoTherapy

Just a quick check in before I go prep my breakfast - I'm 1.4kg off since joining you all - that's 3lb more or less. Very happy and determined to keep going. 2 1/2 weeks before our holiday so plenty of time to shift a bit more.

Thanks for all the supportive posts all round and good luck to anyone else weighing.

biscuitcat · 02/07/2025 09:37

@TheWayTheLightFallsthe New Yorker article is interesting, thank you for sharing. I’ve been much stricter with restricting UPFs the past month or so and it really does seem to have made a difference - I’m not craving sweet or salty stuff anywhere near as much, and am much more able to say no to something or to stop. I hope to keep my weight loss fairly slow just so it’s sustainable, but this gives me hope that I’ll be able to maintain it.

I’m 2.5lbs down since Sunday - so that’s all my holiday weight off plus a bonus half pound! I imagine a fair amount of that is water as I know they used a fair amount of salt in the food on holiday, but nice to see a big movement either way.

Architect3000 · 02/07/2025 12:06

I lost 3pounds in the middle 2 weeks of June by upping steps, logging calories on MFP but have put on 2 as the last week has been stressful

Back on it now

Have had a sensible breakfast and going for a walk now. Thankfully has just cooled down in my area slightly

WearyAuldWumman · 02/07/2025 13:20

I realise that I posted my weight on the June thread. Might be down half a pound.

Supposed to have two gym classes today.

frostedshreddie · 02/07/2025 19:59

I would LOVE to give up the UPF completely but I just don't think I have the willpower ☹️ even knowing the horrors associated with it I need at least one vice in my life 🤣
And I'm very boring don't smoke or drink alcohol, so chocolate and cake is staying for now (in small amounts ofc!!)

Architect3000 · 02/07/2025 22:30

So hard to stay on track
Something stressful happened before lunch, so that went off track
Then a birthday dinner today also meant things went off track - it is not easy!

GrannyInTheGarden2025 · 02/07/2025 22:58

Had a fairly difficult start to the day, but still stuck to the kitchen window although food itself was not good. The food didn't help with the problem, but I eventually got back on track and worked on it in the evening.

WoW was a surprise,as I was down one pound and now bang on the next half-stone target.

Montezumas organic chocolate buttons are non-UPF as far as I know and as for cakes-make your own then you can control what goes in to it. Proper butter, golden caster sugar (it’s unrefined), good quality vanilla, flour is flour as far as I’m concerned for baking but you could go organic if you prefer, and eggs. Cream and Bonne Maman jam are fine. I used to make a ricotta and raspberry cake back around covid times. Really easy recipe and the ricotta made it higher protein. It’s store bought cakes that are full of crap. I had a Mr Kipling something or other a few months back and it was awful. So synthetic tasting and two mouthfuls and it was gone. Sad times. Mary Berry’s Victoria sponge always turns out great and I always use butter not margerine. Just be sure to soften it well before mixing. I filled the last one with a layer of bonne maman strawberry jam, fresh strawberry slices and whipped double cream. It’s really light and is perfect with a cup of tea. The only problem is because of the fresh cream it needs eating within around 24hrs so it’s best to make it if there’s a few people to share it with. I might try making a half recipe one to see how it turns out because there’s only Dd and me that eat it. You could omit the cream or use buttercream instead. Sorry if I’ve made people want cake!

m&s dark chocolate with raspberries is amazing. It’s still UPF but not too bad. A bar of dairy milk can be gone before you know it but the richer chocolate means you need less to get the hit.

I find it makes it easier to avoid foods that aren’t great if I keep 90% UPF free. No flavoured crisps, no store bought biscuits, no ready made meals, pizzas, ice cream, fizzy drinks, spirits, burgers, sausage rolls, fake meat, sweets, cakes, pastries, soups, bread products, yogurts except unflavoured Greek, most cereals, savoury snacks like Jacob’s bites (but the sweet chilli ones are so good!), dips, sauces, spreads, o is. It’s depressing looking at that list. Two years ago our diets were 90% that list. Now it’s 10% at the most. Took some doing but worth it in my experience. Any reduction is going to be beneficial so maybe start with one thing while you use up what you have in and slowly increase otherwise it can be overwhelming. Christmas is anything goes though 🤣

socks1107 · 02/07/2025 23:04

My Dad has just asked me am I on weight loss jabs 😂. No just calorie counting and the photo that was shared I thought I looked dreadful in - shows how we are our harshest critic

WearyAuldWumman · 02/07/2025 23:10

Well, had my two classes today. "Senior Flex" was a bit more demanding that I'd expected, I'm embarrassed to say.

A bit of cardio, but mainly using free weights for 45 minutes. An hour later, had the rather more sedate 'Active' class - some cardio, some weights, some use of yoga ball.

My arms are shaping up, but the stomach is not going to be pretty in spite of my best efforts. On the plus side, I'm strengthening my bones and thigh muscles. [I'm trying to convince myself here!]

LemonDrizzle23 · 03/07/2025 07:26

I’m in awe of your workout efforts @WearyAuldWumman👏

It’s lovely when people start to notice the changes @socks1107

We are in the process of reducing the amount of UPFs that we’re eating. I’ve become a big fan of the Zoe podcasts, and they talk a lot about companies making food hyper-palatable. Deliberately manufacturing food that hits that glorious taste spot (loaded with salt and sugar), so you will want to buy more and more of it, and in turn, their profits increase. Its actually annoys me quite a lot that they’ve been able to get away with it!

The little bit of “weekend away” weight gain has gone. So I am back to my lightest weight since before Covid. Out for breakfast this morning, but aiming for something reasonably healthy.

frostedshreddie · 03/07/2025 07:56

@LegoTherapyyou are so right you can replace most things and make from scratch! Ashamed to say my 2 children have a lot of UPF snack food! This will be a big project to work towards for sure.

LegoTherapy · 03/07/2025 09:04

8st 12lb this morning. 1.5kg off target.

SummerOak · 03/07/2025 11:24

Kicked off the morning with a run, black coffee, and a protein-packed breakfast, boiled eggs and ham. I’m focusing on getting more protein in early to fuel the day right.

Honestly, I’m back at it after a rough patch, my current weight is slightly above where I started in May. I’ve got exactly one month before our August trip, and I’m determined to make it count.

SW: 68 kg
CW: 68.8 kg
GW: 59 kg

Big shoutout to everyone showing up and keeping at it💪

NorthDevonBeachLover · 03/07/2025 11:35

Hope you don't mind me joining, need some like minded people in my world!

SW: 84.3kg
CW: 80.8kg
GW: 73kg (to start with!)

Calorie counting along with making sure i have 100g protein daily to help me feel fuller for longer and not reach for the crisps and chocolate!

biscuitcat · 03/07/2025 11:36

@LegoTherapygreat advice! The other thing I do with cakes is make loaf cakes (often two at once as it’s the same amount of work) and freeze them in slices so you can easily have one piece - sadly wouldn’t work so well with one that has fresh cream in.

@frostedshreddie I’ve started making flapjacks for the kids to reduce their UPF snacks - obviously they have a fair amount of butter and sugar in but I try and add seeds, fruit etc so they’re definitely wholesome (if not healthy). They fill them up for much longer than bought things. The recipe I use has half a tin of condensed milk in, and I use the other half at the same time to make Nigella’s no churn coffee ice cream which is SPECTACULARLY good (and easy peasy), especially if you add a dark chocolate sauce when you eat it, and a fab way to get a non UPF ice cream. It’s very rich so I find you don’t need much to get the ice creamy hit - I worked it out as about 325 calories per portion if you divide it into 6.

The other v easy one for both kids and adults is home made popcorn with just a little oil (and maybe flavoured salt if you want to push the boat out). Cheap healthy and tasty.
