OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Summers arrived!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body. To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs. Currently I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

I kept getting slightly different results when I weighed the other day, so plumped for the heavier one. Scales are now giving me 14st 4lbs.

I'm hoping that there is a change in body composition @LemonDrizzle23 . I know that I lost a great deal of muscle mass 4 yrs ago and I still haven't fully remedied matters. A dress that used to fit at this size about 15 yrs ago (I know...but I like it...) goes on, but is like a sausage skin on me.

My abs are an absolute disgrace, but the dress is also tight across the top so I think that the fat to muscle ratio on the back must be to blame. I'm not surprised - when I was at my hospital appointment, there was a poster on the wall explaining how much muscle mass older folk lose when they do nothing.

Should have said "used to fit at this weight".

SummerOak · 06/07/2025 20:36

@StudyWasp thanks for the tips! I'll be trying it this cycle. I usually stop all exercise during, because It's uncomfortable and I get tired super easy, but I'll make sure I still go on longish walks.

I always keep grapes in the fridge, I'll put them in the freezer this time, I would love some healthy ice cream @TheWayTheLightFalls

I've had a great weekend, didn't go over calories, had only one donut, declined pizza and croissant. Feels like a win 💪

GoodNamesOnly · 06/07/2025 21:11

Had a very lazy day today, met friends for lunch and not much else. I just went out for a walk to make sure my steps were not below 10k. It was nice to be out instead of sitting watching TV, so maybe I will try to make a habit of the post-dinner walk.

Meals not too bad, if a bit bread-heavy! Wholemeal toast for breakfast; cheese and ham salad for lunch with a slice of bread; apple and yoghurt as an afternoon snack; then burrata and tomato salad for dinner. But, my DD made banana bread, so I had to (and wanted to) eat a slice of that too.

LBB2020 · 06/07/2025 21:23

I weighed myself yesterday and am 0.5lbs down this week which I was pleased with as it’s TOTM for me.
Need to go back and catch up on the thread! Hope everyone has had a good weekend x

TealSloth · 07/07/2025 06:41

Morning ladies. This time round i can say i had good weekend no binge eating or over eating just right.
Plus alittle workout not over done it. Hopefully should be having a positive week and see good results on my scale.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 07/07/2025 06:53

Weighed this morning and am a kg under goal which is brilliant because I had no idea what to expect. We have guests at the moment so there are lots of trips, pubby meals etc but I am trying to have a small quantity of things and then stopping, plus eating within a reasonable window.

So yesterday was B (one egg on toast), L (a burger with which I left some of, handful of chips, one finger of KitKat, D small wrap, lots of salad), no snacks.

Feeling ok but two more days to go!

LegoTherapy · 07/07/2025 07:36

Appalling Sunday food wise: breakfast one piece of homemade 50/50 seeded toast and tea; lunch caramel macchiato and 2 rich tea fingers; dinner 1 piece toast again; snack in the evening 2 light babybels and some seeds 🙄 my appetite is rubbish.
Here’s to a great week and a successful WOW for everyone.

LemonDrizzle23 · 07/07/2025 10:17

After my fasted walk this morning, I have officially dropped below 200lbs. One of July’s goals ticked!

That’s awesome! Well done! It feels so good to hit a milestone doesn’t it 😄

LegoTherapy · 07/07/2025 10:49

I’ve signed up for the NHS diabetes prevention course that’s 9 months long. It’s online thankfully. It’s suggested I set a goal of 54kg so need to lose 2kg. It’s miserable being a so called healthy weight and being told to lose more. My current BMI is 21.9. If I weight 54kg that’s a BMI of 21.1. Hmm. Feel a bit shit about myself right now.

socks1107 · 07/07/2025 11:47

@LemonDrizzle23thsts incredible! Well
done

That seems a bit weird to me. A BMI is a good guide, but an online app (or whatever it's called) can't see you. I can understand people being told to exercise as a matter of course, but for all the app knows you could be nearly all muscle, so telling you to lose another 2kg seems a bit daft.

LegoTherapy · 07/07/2025 12:20

@WearyAuldWummanmy nutritionist provided by the course will be available to chat on Thursday so I’ll make the most of her. I don’t think I’ve time for anymore physical activity. 50 miles a week walking is around 14 and a half hours walking for me. I’m as active as I can be but could find time for weights which I keep meaning to do. I’m so exhausted on my days off though and trying to catch up at home that I’m struggling. I’m barely eating anything because there’s so much conflicting advice and most of it’s aimed at those overweight or obese. I do carry weight around my middle and in my opinion have chunky arms and legs but there’s a good amount of muscle there. Triceps are shit but biceps, quads, calves and hamstrings are strong.
Im watching Around The world In 80 Weighs and it’s giving me impetus to stay on the straight and narrow but I’m struggling to eat much. It feels like a set back. I know it’s not but it feels shit. I’ve dropped 1.3kg this month already and expecting more off on Wednesday. I suspect it’s more stress causing glucose to be coursing round my bloodstream rather than what I’m eating.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 07/07/2025 12:33

That's incredibly frustrating lego, I don't really understand what more you can do, esp wrt exercise.

Agreed.

Yes, the problem is that everything seems to be aimed at people who aren't actively doing what they can.

FWIW weights have been the best form of exercise for me - that and resistance bands. The bands are good, because you can do that at home while listening to the radio or watching tv, etc.

frostedshreddie · 07/07/2025 18:35

@LegoTherapyhave you read the book Glucose Goddess? There are lots of helpful tips in there about keeping blood glucose steady and reversing pre diabetes. Hope you are ok and keeping your chin up ❤️

I am definitely going to try the mackerel stuffed red peppers, they sound delish! Today I cooked a sweet potato and lentil lasagne, was yum! Kids sniffed at it 😆

Keep going everyone!!

biscuitcat · 07/07/2025 18:40

How frustrating @LegoTherapy. Have you come across the Glucose Goddess before? She has some good methods of managing blood glucose - it sounds like you’re doing some of what she’d suggest anyway but I thought I’d mention in case it’s useful!

We’ve had a mega busy and social weekend and I’ve stayed more or less on calories which is nice - today has been more of a challenge though, as the kids have all been very hard work and usually I’d eat my feelings 😬 so far I’ve managed the stress on two squares of dark chocolate and hoping that does me! I’d dearly love to open up the bag of crisps we have in the cupboard and crunch through them but holding strong so far…

PreetyinPurple · 07/07/2025 18:41

So I have been dieting and exercising for 3 weeks and I have lost a grand total of 3 pounds.
yes stuff is looser and my knickers feel better. But I have so much to lose (20kg) I really thought when I started I would drop more. I want to join the gym but I need some weight off my knee before I do a class.
ive stopped snacking, reduced treats and carbs down, increased my protein, eaten within my calories, increased my activity, started doing weights….
and tomorrow I’m going out for pizza! Oops.

WearyAuldWumman · 07/07/2025 18:46

Had my crown fitted. Slight hold-up - the practice was having difficulty with its computers and my dentist's...What's the name? Vacuum? Saliva-sucker-thingy?...wasn't working.

All done now.

Had to deal with various matters pertaining to my trip to a relative's wedding. First time in my life that I've done something like this in a rush. That's my excuse for no gym and not sticking to my diet.

No lunch today, cos I was at the dentist. Ordered mince and tatties from a local take-away, plus apple pie and custard...Took lactojoy tablets with the custard.

Well, it's soft you see! Ahem!

(Was down another half pound this morning. Guess that meat will stop me from losing too quickly.)

The weight loss was very slow for me at the beginning - that was through going to the gym plus being in a calorie deficit. This January, I still had 23 pounds to get to my interim goal; another 28 pounds again before I reach a healthy weight according to the NHS BMI calculator.

I've now lost a total of a smidgen over 28 pounds in total and I'm still 3 and a half pounds away from my interim goal.

frostedshreddie · 07/07/2025 19:21

Great minds @biscuitcat

Suction @WearyAuldWumman, I used to work in dental 🤓🦷 hope it went ok

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 07/07/2025 20:30

I could probably have written that word for word @PreetyinPurple but last time I got on the scales I was back at my start weight having lost 3lbs the time before, so... keep calm and carry on!

Glad the tooth is done @WearyAuldWumman hope it feels ok

@LegoTherapy I'd guess that you need to eat more but low GI food rather than toast, but I totally hear what you're saying about so much conflicting advise. Hope that you can get some help from a professional and I'd ignore the advise to loose more! Your BMI sounds great! Star

PreetyinPurple · 07/07/2025 20:33

@BlueOysterCultGroupiedisaster. Mine always goes up before it goes back down again.
I just want a stone off asap as I’m sick of the weight on my body.

StudyWasp · 07/07/2025 20:40

@PreetyinPurple I completely feel you. I have 16kg to lose in total!!! We will do it though.

The most important thing is to keep going - we could be where we want to be in less than a year!

PatienceOfEngels · 07/07/2025 20:44

I've been making the most of the summer holidays for a daily walk in the woods and yoga (doing YWA True).

Had some nice balanced meals with reasonable portions: chicken korma with rice and broccoli, ham tortellini in a spinach cream cheese sauce with peas, burger and chips with salad, veggie bean and sweetcorn burritos with salad/guacamole/cheese.

But too many treats! I made a banoffee pie on Saturday which we used up Sunday. Cinema trip on Sunday and had Doritos. Ice cream after dinner tonight.

Am out for dinner on Thursday with a friend, so would like to have a good few days under my belt so that I can enjoy myself with tapas.

Have decided I'd like to work on my core/upper body strength this summer and going to work on my push-ups (I can barely do one!) starting with wall push-ups and working my way up! I can definitely manage 10-15 minutes a day (spread over the day, not necessarily in one go).

I still haven't lost any weight but feeling a little more relaxed.
