⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Following on from ⭐️ Active April 2025⭐️

Are you up for getting Summer Ready? There’s still time to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body in time for the summer sun ☀️

To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost just around 45lbs. After having been on the wrong side of 12st The last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

PS - Grok 3 created my picture … not the best but perhaps I’m instructing him wrong. I still thanked him 😅

I’d like to join in simply to keep myself in a healthier routine. That includes more fruit and veg, lean protein when poss, and lots of fresh air and exercise by tidying the garden.

Weight loss would be good, and I’m hoping that’ll fall into place along with better lifestyle.

Hello all. Weighed in this morning - I weigh every day so I can see fluctuations. I was knackered yesterday and that always affects my eating but I wasn’t too bad! All good today so far- lovely egg sandwich courtesy of my friend’s chickens.

I am a bit gutted today as I flushed my week-old Fitbit down the toilet this morning. Don’t ask how on earth I managed that. Literally flushed £65 down the loo.

SW: 14st 10
CW: 14st 8.4

Where in Devon are you staying @kirinm? I love in Devon.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 07/05/2025 13:10

Hi all, pleased to report 1.5lb loss today, my first one in ages! I was delighted, particularly given lack of exercise. It feels like my summer goal is achievable once more.

i have not one, but two, calorific work events this week where it’ll be a fixed menu and a bit boozy, so that will prove challenging, but I’ll put them into nutracheck as easier days and try and be as mindful in my choices as I can.

QueenMabby · 07/05/2025 13:25

Up a little bit after a rather off-plan weekend. Some of that is…. food weight though. 😬 I’ve bought some psyllium husk tablets to see if they help.

We are camping in Croyde although some of DPs family are in Ilfracombe so we will be staying there for a couple of days too.

@Vacuummyblub

I am so with you on the love of butter (and honey on toast) . I'm just weaning my youngest so switched to having unsalted butter in the house instead of the delicious irresistible salty kind. It's much easier to not put lashings of it on toast/ bread / everything. Just a thought.

Oh.My.Word.

That is the single best advice I have ever, ever had. So obvious, and yet…..

I’ll get some next time I go shopping and leave the delicious, wonderful, tasty nectar from heaven for the kids.

Peachypips78 · 07/05/2025 16:29

@kirinmi live in Devon not love in Devon! Croyde is beautiful. We are in mid Devon which is very rural and tourists don’t love it as there are no beaches. But if we go to the beach we always go North not South.

NerrSnerr · 07/05/2025 16:51

I have weighted today
Start Weight 12st 8
Last week 12 st 2
Current Weight 11st 12

Very happy that it’s going in the right direction. I need to get to 11st1 ish to get to only being overweight so that is my next big goal.

Still low carbing. Planning on getting into the 10s and then gradually increasing my carbs. We go to Florida in 99 days so have a very big goal ahead.

HazelNotHungryLC · 07/05/2025 19:19

I was sick all week last week and only started feeling better on Monday this week, so it slowed down my progress a bit, but I have still had a loss!
Last week: 168.2lbs
Today: 166.5lbs
That makes me down 1.7lbs. It also means my goal weight of 155lbs is now just 11.5lbs away. I'm feeling very motivated right now and feeling great now I'm able to cut the carbs back again.

LBB2020 · 07/05/2025 21:49

Well done everyone that weighed in! I weigh over the weekend. Another decent day other than hardly drinking any water! I think I need to start setting an alarm or something as I just don’t really get thirsty

Vacuummyblub · 08/05/2025 06:16

Lying in bed awake before the kids wake up, which is unusual for me and maybe a sign that giving myself a stricter bed/phone off time is working. I do feel tired though and sort of wish I was still asleep. If I can stick to some good choices today then that will be a week and I feel like habits starting to form.
Here goes...

Good luck today vacuum! I love waking up before the kids, I set an alarm especially and often wake up even before that. First cup of coffee in silence ❤️

frostedshreddie · 08/05/2025 06:58

Hi All, well done on the WOWers.
I weighed in at 10st 6.8 so not much lost over here but will keep chipping away.
I just did a 30 mins arm/shoulder workout and still aiming to do 10k on bike everyday. I do the bike in the evenings whilst watching trashy tv 🤣

We are having Turkey burgers for dinner tonight 😋

LegoTherapy · 08/05/2025 07:47

Well done on the losses!
I'm down a little today so I’m happy about that. I wish I could crack the constipation issue. It’s been a feature of perimenopause for a couple of years now and is annoying.

Oh @LegoTherapy - me too. I’ve started on psyllium husk capsules today to see if that helps.

Vacuummyblub · 08/05/2025 20:09

Bank Holiday here today and I'm pleased with how I've done.
Had a chocolate this evening but only one. Savoury/ protein breakfast, goat cheese salad for lunch, veggie pie for tea and a snack of yoghurt and jam (must switch to frozen fruit.)
I did my weights work out this morning which takes me about an hour then I also managed a brisk 30 min walk this evening.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 08/05/2025 20:31

Mountains of veg for dinner here. Hope others are doing well.

I have started trying to cut down on sweeteners (I am using more because I am drinking more coffee, to eat less… round and round we go). So today I went for black coffees x3, and just one coffee with sweetener. Went ok. Will try to stick with it.

Hi everyone, is it too late to join?
I literally signed up on MumsNet for this particular thread. I am not even sure how this works, but I need some accountability in my weight loss journey. I am desperate! And I need to lose A LOT (we are talking 20+ kg).
Tried to do it alone and end up either being too restrictive or binging, and I am so ever tired of the endless repetition of the cycle.
Anyone?

So yeah. I just need someone on the same journey to hold me accountable.
Please let me know how this works! I am so excited to join!

socks1107 · 09/05/2025 09:10

@LightGirl I think everyone is following their own plan but we are here for accountability.
Ive been here since the start and lost 11kg calorie counting. I have another 9kg to go.
We always log our weight on Wednesdays WOW and are a very supportive non judgmental group.

How do you want to lose weight? I think many of us calorie count here

LightGirl · 09/05/2025 09:33

@socks1107 Thanks for responding! I've lost more than 30 kg once just by watching what I eat. That was 13 years ago and felt much easier than now lol. After my second pregnancy my weight went up again :( There are so many different opinions for weight loss that TBH I am confused. More protein, less carbs. Go vegan. Oh no, go carnivore. Oatmeal is bad. No, eggs are bad. Have a smoothie. No, don't have a smoothie. Sugar is bad but honey is ok. Oh no, honey is even worse. Eat only raw vegetables. Juice will save your life. No, you have to eat steak for breakfast. And the funniest part, they all see some sort of results - while I am gaining weight just by looking at the food. Lol

What I am trying to do now (hopefully it works!) is to eliminate all junk food, sugar and white flour. Not eating after 5PM. No desserts of any kind and no unnecessary snacking (guilty as charged). I am working also on not being so restrictive (it always leads me to binge eat afterwards) and not feeling guilty for every bite that I take. Its more of a mental issue I guess? Anyone has/had it? How did you change your mind as not to treat any food as an enemy?

I am constantly getting 10K (or more) steps every day - not sure why it doesn't help :(

So happy to start it all again! Fingers crossed. Thank you for letting me to be here!

kirinm · 09/05/2025 09:49

As I’ve started to run again and I’m suffering with DOMS as a result (which will calm down once I’ve been running consistently for a while) I’ve decided to change my weigh day to Friday as Friday is a running day but far enough away from the last run day for DOMS to have calmed down.

I have been on it with movement this week. Hitting at least 10k steps a day (I sit at a desk for 10+ hours a day so forcing myself up and out has been a mental struggle) and I’ve been good with food. Just come back from a run which was hard!

SW: 15.5
CW: 14.11.06
Loss so far: 7.4lbs
Interim target (camping) - 14.5

kirinm · 09/05/2025 09:53

Oh I didn’t realise you weigh in on a weds. I’ll sort that out for week. It’ll be interesting to see how much water retention weighs!

NerrSnerr · 09/05/2025 09:55

I’m hoping for a good weekend ahead- I have 3lbs to go until I have lost a stone so hoping to be closer. I’m also really hoping I can fit into some smaller trousers soon- then I know it’ll begin to feel a bit more real.

SummerOak · 09/05/2025 10:14

@LightGirl welcome to the weight loss journey! Totally with you on the confusion with what's supposed to help you lose weight and what's not. But in the end it comes down to being in calorie deficit, which is why calorie counting is really helpful, we all underestimate how many calories there actually are in some foods (guilty as charged).

Cutting out junk food, sugar and other things is great, but maybe 5pm is too early to stop eating. Depends on when you go to bed. In the past I also set up that kind of time limit and it got me to binge right before bed as I would go to bed quite late. Try it for a few days and if it's making you extra hungry before bedtime, then raise it to maybe 6 or 7pm.

LightGirl · 09/05/2025 10:21

@SummerOak What app do you use to count calories? (the one that won't cost me my kidney lol)

I thought of moving dinner time to 6, but I am early in bed. I wake up at 5:30 every day means I am trying to be asleep by 10 PM tops.

BTW, are there any early risers here? I have a question. I understand its not good for me to have coffee (I have it black) on an empty stomach OK, but like really who can devour full breakfast at 5 in the morning? So its either I am coffee-less (and life-less) until 8-9 when I normally have breakfast OR I drink coffee first thing in the morning which isn't ideal. Any tips on what to do? I try to avoid extra snacking that became my guilty pleasure.
