These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

After having been on the wrong side of 12st The last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Your dinner sounds delicious. Any chance you could post the recipe. I'm always on the look out for new veggie dinners.
My day is going.... Hmmmm.... OK. Digressions so far are a small slice of cheese and a weird oaty teething biscuit I just made. Not that delicious, certainly not worth the calories!
Entering a bit of a danger zone in terms of energy levels. Husband baked bread and it's just beeped to say its done. I'm going to try to resist by having a cup of tea☕

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 05/05/2025 18:08

No problem @Vacuummyblub It’s a bit of a throw it all in - baby potatoes halved, sliced halloumi, cauliflower and broccoli. Toss in Lebanese spice (or a mix of something similar) a few sprays of veg oil, toss it all together. Usually takes about half an hour in oven (but keep an eye on it to make sure broccoli doesn’t burn). When done, squeeze of lemon juice over the top and scatter with some pomegranate seeds.

I’ve had to abandon plans for strength class which is really frustrating, it’s been one thing after another these last few months hampering exercise plans. I’ve got a very sore knee - a 20 minute lunchtime walk was very sore earlier. Not sure what I’ve done, but I’m too nervous about lifting weights on it in case I make it worse, or inadvertently twist something while trying to protect it. Hopefully it will settle down in a day or so.

PatienceOfEngels · 05/05/2025 19:12

Today was 50% lovely (long 2.5 hour walk in the woods - we got a bit lost and ended up walking further than we intended but great exercise and for my mind - everything is so green at the moment. Got lots of steps in.) and 50% off plan (we ended up eating out for lunch so had a very heavy savoury pancake. Also finished a toblerone with DS1 (was bribing him to do his book report reading and felt rude not to share!).

Tried to do some yoga this evening and gave up after the warm up exercises so probably only did 10 minutes maximum! So inflexible atm.

Plan for tomorrow:

-boiled egg, rye toast, coffee
-cycle into town for errands
-snack - slice of lemon drizzle cake
-lunch - egg fried rice that I didn't eat today
-dinner - courgette, garlic and lemon spaghetti
-evening walk

LemonDrizzle23 · 05/05/2025 21:03

Some very tasty sounding meals there. Anything involving halloumi is popular in this house!

I’ve had a good weekend overall. Slightly indulgent and lazy Sunday, but otherwise active and reasonable calorie intake I think…. Proof of the pudding will be on the scales tomorrow morning, or something!

I seem to be having some success with sticking to a couple of squares of Co-op 85% dark chocolate after dinner. It’s hard to overeat, fairly low calorie, and it’s so tasty!

Fellsbells · 06/05/2025 09:36

Loving reading about everyone’s efforts, it’s very inspiring.

I’ve been hovering around the same weight for a whole week and I’m desperate to drop into the next stone down. Trusting the process though as I know it will happen if I’m consistent, which I am being.

Last year I dropped weight a bit too quickly which caused some hair loss and my weight bounced up again as soon as I ate normally. This time I’m aiming for a smaller calorie deficit and a more healthy, long term approach.

B-2 egg omelette, yoghurt with flax and chia.
L-chicken sandwich and salad
D-rice and chilli. Homemade brownie.
S-almond milk smoothie

LegoTherapy · 06/05/2025 09:49

I’ve shot up again this morning which is very annoying. It can only be fluid related though so I’m not disheartened. I’ve had a very chilled long weekend and am back to the walking up big hills today. Can’t believe it wow already tomorrow.

SummerOak · 06/05/2025 10:21

Hi! I'll join in.
Had a baby last year and gained about 15kg. My goal is to get to my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm focusing mostly on my diet as walking is the only exercise I have time for.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 06/05/2025 14:41

Hi all.

I was going to post today’s menu, but I am not sure what I’m having for tea! Breakfast today was some Fage 0% yoghurt with no added sugar granola, chia seeds and berries (usually get a frozen mix and defrost overnight). Lunch was another home made soup, chicken pieces, apple and quavers. Had a plain digestive with a cuppa for a snack (but turned down the chocolate option). Hoping my knee is up to some exercise later.

Vacuummyblub · 06/05/2025 20:05

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo
That really does sound delicious. It's going on the list. Thank you for sharing.
@SummerOak Congratulations on your new baby. How old are they now. I'm also on a postpartum trying to lose the weight. I do find it pretty tough when I can't get the sleep in that I need so I find myself eating for energy.

Today has been OK but not great. Nice omelet for breakfast and goat cheese salad for lunch. Then mis afternoon I suddenly could really feel that I'd not had any carbs so grabbed a bowl of cornflakes with sultanas. Dinner I'm pleased to have kept a fairly small portion. I did though have 2 bowls of Greek yoghurt with jam which seems to be my craving at the moment. Could be worse but could be better, I'm going to try to make it with fruit from the freezer tomorrow instead.
A plus is that I had a personal trainer session today and I felt much stronger in it than this time last week. Going to be trying to do the exercises every other day or 3 times a week now.

SummerOak · 06/05/2025 21:57

@Vacuummyblub
Congratulations on your baby too! How old are they now? Mine just turned one and has finally started sleeping through the night, so I’ve run out of excuses not to focus on losing this stubborn baby weight. I had a couple of failed attempts over the past year, but I’ve recently cut out bread and started intermittent fasting, and I’ve actually seen some results in the last two weeks, so I’m feeling hopeful. My biggest struggle is snacking before bed, but I’ve already cleared out all the snacks at home and stopped buying more, so fingers crossed I can keep it up!
Today for lunch I had chicken thighs with green beans and for dinner I had scrambled eggs with mushrooms and spring onions. And 0 snacks.

LBB2020 · 06/05/2025 23:17

Much better day today! Three meals, no snacks and did 20 minutes walking on the treadmill this evening. Must remember to drink more water!

TealSloth · 07/05/2025 06:41

Morning all hope your all doing well with weight loss and a bright healthy day even though we have few dull days.
I've had a bit of a yoyo days where my weight has gone up and down.
This week has not been too bad. Weigh my self this morning. 13.12
Hoping by end of this month I can hit 13.10
On a plateau but support of few friends am sure it will break.

LegoTherapy · 07/05/2025 07:11

I’m annoyed this morning to see no loss since the weekend and in fact a gain. 58.6kg this morning 😔 I hope others have a better result!

Fellsbells · 07/05/2025 07:12

Made it into the 9s for WOW which was a nice surprise. I’d been quite relaxed yesterday so not expecting it.

good luck everyone.

LemonDrizzle23 · 07/05/2025 07:14

Congratulations on the lovely babies @SummerOak and @Vacuummyblub Life is so much easier once they start sleeping!

Good luck to all those WOWing! A decent WOW for me, with 0.5kg off. Lots of walking, and a reasonable calorie goal on about 4 days of the week.

SW: 98.9
CW: 93.6

Next goal on Happy Scale is 92.8, so it would be good to hit that in the next couple of weeks. I would like to be 92kg by the end of the month.

Skyglimmer · 07/05/2025 07:15

Hi all,

I have been keeping up with the last few threads but not posted. I have been a bit too relaxed with food lately. Still exercising but haven't been tracking food. I am planning to weigh in soonish to get some good days of tracking meals again before I do. When I last weighed in I was 8kg less than when I started in September.

PatienceOfEngels · 07/05/2025 07:32

Yesterday did not go to plan.
Meals were fine and as planned (apart from DH complaining about dinner - he doesn't like lemon in food apparently).
But it was the: half Lindt bunny, half bag of wine gums, almost whole packet of cheddar biscuits that did it! Instant effect - bloating and bowel issues. Why do I do this to myself!
PF pain has ramped up immediately because I'm back to work today so didn't feel up to a walk last night.
Ears are also blocked up atm which makes me feel rotten.

I need to deal with my stress and anxiety in order to fix my eating issues. Going to prioritise meditation, journalling and staying off my phone for the rest of the week.

Off on a work overnight today so goodness knows what I'll be eating. Hiking tomorrow though so should get lots of fresh air.

Vacuummyblub · 07/05/2025 07:38

Thank you @LemonDrizzle23 my 3 year old still not sleeping great but new baby already a much better sleeper than he was at this age so crossing my fingers she won't follow his path! Well done on the WoW 0.5 is the dream steady loss!
@SummerOak baby is 6 months old. Very lucky that whilst she does still wake at least 2 times a night, she settles straight away after a feed so it's not loads of sleep lost
Just disrupted.

WoW 74.5
Down from 75.6 last week.
Pleased with that. It is just 'water weight' I guess but it's motivating and I'm happier to be closer to 70 than 80!

Pleased to have already done a run this morning. Husband off work the next 2 days so it's nice to not have to choose between catching a bit more sleep or doing some exercise (in terms of having someone with the kids.) Aiming to do weights tomorrow, long walk Friday then run one day and weights one day over the weekend.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 07/05/2025 07:40

Morning! Holding steady at 75.1kg here. I’m continuing to calorie count for the mo - I don’t think I want to lose much more weight but not quite there yet.

No B, lunch should be a salmon salad. Work will keep me busy.

kirinm · 07/05/2025 08:04

Can I join?

I started towards the end of April and have lost a few pounds but I’m really desperate to keep going. Everything was going in the right direction- and I even did my first run in months - which has immediately caused weight ‘gain’ due to DOMS (water retention) so I’m really trying not to get discouraged as I know it’ll go down again when I stop aching.

I’m setting interim goals as I have a long way to go.

SW: 15.5
CW: 15.02 stone
ITW: 14.5 (for camping trip)

I am in peri menopause and have found my mental health significantly deteriorate due to various life circumstances over the last few months so I’m also aiming to ensure I get out for a walk on the days I work from home and run 2-3 times a week (gradually increase). Weight loss and exercise always help my mood.

Great work on the run. When and where is your camping trip? Have you got a day in mind for run number 2. I find it helps to plan out my next exercise otherwise I realise a week has gone by!
Frustrating when you do all the right things and the scale moves up. But you've done good stuff for your body. Hope the doms passes soon.

It’ll be Friday - as I’ll be working from home and it’s tricky to fit a run in when I’m in the office.

We are camping in Devon at the end of the month. My goal is based on my pre run weight where it felt realistic! We shall see if that is still realistic once the DOMS have gone! To be honest any loss is welcome at this stage.

WoodlandDragon · 07/05/2025 08:25

WoW for me today:
SW: 94kg
CW: 88.6kg
GW: 75kg

Happy with this, had a good balanced work from home day yesterday and ran 5km. First test of my "no eating on the commute home" challenge though, fingers crossed I can get through the station unscathed!

socks1107 · 07/05/2025 09:11

I have definitely broken my plateau.
I’ve lost 3lbs this week! That’s after a weekend away too but the tweaks I’ve made have had a difference. And I stayed fairly on track even though I was away.

SW 13.13
CW 12.5
GW 11.8

SummerOak · 07/05/2025 09:22

Morning everyone. Happy for all who have lost weight!

CW: 68kg
GW: 59kg

We have summer holiday booked for August and I'm hoping to lose as much as I can by that point.

Plan for today is no B, L will be spaghetti Bolognese and D prawn salad.
