January 2025! Following on from LOSE IT! December 2024

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 5lbs.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Happy Birthday @PatienceOfEngels 🎂🎈

WoW was surprisingly ok, only 1lb up from 10 days ago.

Need to stop the chocolate consumption, but apart from that, today is looking good.

Hells Bells @Fellsbells that is excellent! 👌

Hello! I’ve been MIA from these threads the last few months, but signing in to get back on track, hoping this is the year I lose that final stone. I’m not weighing in until next week though, as have a couple of festive social occasions to go.

thanks for keeping the threads going @TheRealHousewife

CakeFace1234 · 02/01/2025 14:30

Hello, I'd like to join too and also get back on some sort of track. Things have been steadily increasing. House full of sweet treats, office will be the same. I comfort eat, worry eat, celebrate eat, all he eats. I need to break the habit of grazing and constantly 'topping up'. Hopefully thread will help me hold myself accountable.

SW 15.4
GW 10.10

Will focus on drinking more water. Aiming for 1-2lb a week so hopefully, around the 14 st mark by Eastertime.

jane46b · 02/01/2025 15:07

Happy new year everyone! Please may I join you in this journey?

I have got myself into horrendous habits and am so unhappy with my weight and my clothes not fitting! My bad habits include generally not watching what I eat and sitting down to a bottle of wine whenever I've got a day off next day. (I work shifts), however that doesn't come on its own - it's accompanied by a bag of wine gums/midget gems and a big bowl of crisps!
My husband works nights and I blame it on boredom/spending evenings on my own, but I really just need to get a grip!

Anyhow, time to start again, at the heaviest I've ever been. My plan for starting out is no house wine (I'm not going to deprive myself - will have wine if out for dinner etc), eating healthier, no wine gums/gummy sweeties as they are my weakness and I eat the full sharing bag easily, 16:8 intermittent fasting, min 10k steps a day.

SW: 12st 5.3lbs
GW: 10st 10lbs

Good luck everyone Smile

Puffalicious · 02/01/2025 15:38

Hey all,

Happy Birthday PatienceofEngels! We have 5 family birthdays end Dec/ Jan & I always feel bad that we have less energy for those! I hope it's fabulously special.

Feeling definitely inspired by the thread & less in abject misery. There's definitely been a shift, as I'm visualising what I'll look like in my lovely clothes once they fit.

I'm pretty focused & didn't over-eat at all during New Year's Day dinner (luckily vegetarian & wasn't tempted by the traditional steak-pie (here in Scotland) that DP made for everyone. I had lovely salmon & veg & had last treat of the last, small Bailey's in the bottle (I don't drink but like a Bailey's at Xmas).

Today:

2 boiled eggs, half a small avocado, small slice of sourdough, cherry toms. Delicious.

Raspberries & some protein yogurt + tea.

Will have prawns & veg for dinner.

Heading out for a late walk now (it's beautiful & frosty).

We still have some Christmas bits leftover - think stollen, Lebkuchen, the fruit creme roses nobody liked. I find myself snacking on them throughout the day.

Any suggestions on stopping myself from eating them? I feel like between breastfeeding and tiredness, I have no willpower

under60kgbyJuly · 02/01/2025 16:20

If nobody including you likes the fruit creme roses, cloudengel, throw them away. No point you eating them when you're going to have to not eat something of equal calories that you do want later, in compensation. Lebkuchen I don't know, but I bet stollen would freeze nicely in slices?

FaeryQueen · 02/01/2025 16:25

Can I join? I need some accountability as I tackle that last stubborn stone! Motivation is waning as I look so much better and my clothes fit better too so I "could" stop now but I really want to drop a dress size.

My weight has been steadily creeping up for a while but I got a real shock in September and the diet started then! I'm down more than 18lb so far which is a good start but it's plateaued and I was just glad to get through December without a gain.

CW 10st 12
TW 9st 10

Just plain old-fashioned calorie counting here. MFP has given me a target of 1200 cal a day based on my rather sedentary job and lifestyle. I'm not prepared to give up every glass of wine though so I have to allow some headroom for that a couple of days a week.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 02/01/2025 16:25

Apart from 4 Rich Tea light biscuits today I’ve been good having:-

porridge with blueberries
minestrone slim a soup with 3 rye Ryvita and cucumber crudities

snacks: orange, apple with small amount lighter cathedral city cheese

Weighed this morning and I’m 13.5 stone exactly.

I have thrown away the ones I don't like. Can't eat them then!

I deliberately didn't buy many "treat" foods this year so we don't have much left but what is unopened is heading for the village food pantry tomorrow when I go past it.

TheRealHousewife · 02/01/2025 13:52

@TerroristToddler If your start weight is 129lbs and your goal weight is 125lbs you've only got 4lbs to lose to get to goal 👍

Typo start is 139lbs! So add on another 10!

I WISH it was only 4lbs!

To be honest I’d bin them. Imagine the work and effort in losing any additional gain from hoovering up the excess foods. Don’t look at it as being wasteful more like you’re saving yourself some effort down the line. 👍

Chuck out the Roses immediately.
Cut the Stollen into small portion slices and freeze
Have one Lebkuchen a day til they are gone . Enjoy and appreciate with a hot drink.

LemonDrizzle23 · 02/01/2025 19:08

@cloudengel I also reckon you chuck or freeze stuff. I have gradually been working on understanding the idea that it's just as much a waste in my stomach if I don't need it, as it would be if I threw it away! Just I end up fatter if I eat it all!
Definitely tricky after being raised in an "eat it til it's gone" household (like many others)...

I've been quite ruthless after Christmas this year, although DH is dragging his heels a little, which is why stuff is in the garage out of sight.

Well I am gradually de-puffing after Christmas, as I can finally get my rings off for the first time since start of December!

OnceMoreWithAttitude · 02/01/2025 19:23

Glad you are feeling better @Puffalicious .

Sounds as if you had a great day, looked after yourself and that sounds like tasty delicious food. Fab!

I love raspberries.

Hey everyone!

In bed following a day of being on plan. Run scheduled for the morning. Feeling great t

AnonymousMum37 · 02/01/2025 21:31

Hi all,

Bad news is I weighed myself and I put on 6lb over Christmas.

Good news is I've had a good day today, 1350 kcal.

B: 3 dried apricots and an oat milk coffee
L: Salmon, edamame & cucumber rice bowl
D: Jacket potato, coleslaw, beans and salad

Plus 3x satsumas as snacks

No exercise to speak of as I worked 8-6 with an hour commute but I managed a brief walk at lunch! Planning a run tomorrow morning.

TheRealHousewife · 02/01/2025 21:46

@NothingTraLaLa Well done on braving the scales! At least you’re aware now. You’ll soon be back into your healthy habits and seeing the numbers come down 👍

@AnonymousMum37 Dont panic. Hopefully it’ll come off as quick as it went on. Most of quick gain is water/waste. Healthy habits and plenty of water you’ll soon feel a whooosh 😬

Well done @littlepurplerose 👌

@LemonDrizzle23 It’s good your de-fluffing … Be careful you don’t lose your rings!

In bed and hopefully I’ll soon be asleeps 😴 Night all.

Lovely to see old faces back even if their faceless names 😁
My main focus after tonight is to be in bed and asleep earlier. And try to meal plan sooner than the hour before dinner 🙄

OnceMoreWithAttitude · 02/01/2025 22:14

@AnonymousMum37 that’s ok! It is ok to feast in the feasting season. You can easily re-set.

CornflowerBlueSky · 03/01/2025 05:30

Morning. I didn't get around to posting yesterday, but I'm starting at 76.8kg. Just booked a mini break to London with my daughters in 5 weeks time, so that is something to look forward to and another incentive to crack on with losing this weight.
