January 2025! Following on from LOSE IT! December 2024

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 5lbs.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I think it's good to have the mindset of having a treat and then back on it the next day. In the balance of things you should be able to have a McDonald's or chocolate bar etc. If you completely deprive yourself then you're more likely to fall off the wagon so to speak.

On that note is the grimace milkshake nice? Always been curious to know 😅

I made a Oreo milkshake for my DS in my ninja yesterday which he loved.

Goodafternoonmillie · 19/01/2025 13:12

@HappyLittleTreeFriend glad I’m not the only one 🤣💜

@Sparxdislike you are definitely right. Balance is key!! Milkshake was so good! But I do love blueberry flavour so if you are not a fan, maybe not so good. I think they are stopping them soon!!

socks1107 · 19/01/2025 19:33

Today was

B - toast
L - tomato, Richmond sausages, and an egg.
D - a roast.
All in 1500 calories.

I also did an hour in the gym on the bike and lifting weights

PatienceOfEngels · 19/01/2025 19:53

Lovely meal out last night (burger and fries) but the service was so slow we didn't have desserts - small mercies 😂

Today:
-boiled egge and rye toast with butter, coffee with milk x2
-pear
-pumpkin pancakes with greek yoghurt and caramel syrup
-chicken bhuna with rice (pepper, mushrooms, lentils, chickpeas)
-cheese, handful of DH's crisps, cup of herbal tea

No exercise and very few steps. Have been recoerveing for the last week or so, getting on with chores in the house, supervising DC homework and marking/reports. So behind with everything.

Made extra pumpkin pancakes for the freezer and single servings of butternut squash soup yesterday. Set up for a healthy week of meals. Just need to try and get some exercise in, chip away at my work backlog and take time to destress. Pretty sure I've put back on all the weight I lost!

happytobemrsg · 19/01/2025 23:07

Back on track today after yesterday’s Chinese 💪🏻 I agree, the odd treat should be guilt-free, just get back on it the next day (it’s a marathon not a sprint!)

LegoTherapy · 20/01/2025 07:17

Morning all. 54.5kg this morning. Hope everyone has a good week!

Goodafternoonmillie · 20/01/2025 08:17

Morning Everyone!

yesterdays calories: 1347
which is good, but did notice I was a bit hungry when I was trying to go to sleep.

this morning I have done 1 hour pilates workout and my plan is:
B: Smoothie
L: Leek Risotto (last of)
D: Mustard Chicken & Rice

have a good Monday everyone 🙆🏻‍♀️

LemonDrizzle23 · 20/01/2025 09:08

Happy Monday! Love having a good nose and seeing what everyone did with their weekend 😂

Weekend has been pretty good food wise, apart from Sunday lunch at my parents and my dad made massive doorstop size bacon and fried mushroom rolls. They were lovely though! Hit the gym on Saturday and Sunday.

Knee seems to have got better with exercise - I'm guessing the muscles have strengthened! So I upped the resistance on the bike this week. Shoulder is getting better with the physio as well, so I can actually lie on that side in bed for the first time in about 3 months which is nice.

Elderly relative staying for a few days, so not much movement will be happening, but planning to keep on top of food.

IDareSay · 20/01/2025 09:18

There was a snackcident on Saturday night and the tin of Ikea ginger thins was liberated from the depths of a cupboard. I ate quite a few, as did DH, and then we both felt quite sick Sad

They have now gone in the bin.

TealSloth · 20/01/2025 09:51

Morning everyone am back on my diet road. Today after a long period of time il beable to go to gym. Am looking forward to a healthy recovery road with plenty of workout. I can't wait.

Sparxdislike · 20/01/2025 11:43

I'm having a day where all I can think about is food 😭 I haven't given in and sticking with the healthy routine. Not sure why. It's interesting that the media keeps saying those on jabs mention "food noise" I assumed everyone always thinks about food 😅

happytobemrsg · 20/01/2025 15:02

Chinese on Saturday, just one meal yesterday (a roast), Leon wrap & fries today (hoping it’ll be just this for me today), Italian tomorrow 🤦🏻‍♀️

Jaderz · 21/01/2025 07:23

After 2 weeks a of no progress it’s coming off.

@Jaderz
that’s fantastic! We done, you. You’re flying it.

My weigh in day is a Tuesday. This week I have lost 2lbs. I’m delighted with that.

SW: 12stone
CW: 11.4
GW: 10stone

AnonymousMum37 · 21/01/2025 09:52

We had friends round on Saturday and I drank prosecco and ate pizza, I put back on 2lb! I'm hoping it's water weight only.
Good day yesterday, ran 10k this morning and having a banana now, have 2 healthy meals planned.

PatienceOfEngels · 21/01/2025 10:05

Morning all:

Yesterday started well but crashed and burned once the kids were in bed!
-boiled egg and 2 slices wholemeal toast with butter, 2x coffee with milk.
-plate of fruit/veg
-lots of herbal tea
-pumpkin soup with 2 slices whole meal bread and butter/philadelphia
-tomato soup with meatballs and pasta, crusty white bread and butter
-half a bag of sour wine gums, a big chunk of cheese, raspberry sorbet

Today:
-boiled egg and 2 slices wholemeal toast with butter, 2x coffee with milk.
-2 x pears
-ginger and lemon tea
-stir fried veg and leftover rice with egg and some sate sauce
-fried potatoes with broccoli and chipolatas

Evening challenge to resist the fridge and cupboard!
Wen for a walk this morning after school drop off and my try for another short one this evening.

Sparxdislike · 21/01/2025 10:10

I managed to resist any treats. Made healthy dirty fries in the air fryer last night which were yummy with roasted veg (I didn't have cheese). Then had satsumas and a couple of skinny whip bars to help my chocolate craving with a cup of tea :) Hoping to be back in my healthy bmi range this week so 🤞

I'm slowly building walking as my health allows but feel exhausted. So frustrating I used to be able to do more but guess it is what it is, something is better than nothing :)

Sparxdislike · 21/01/2025 10:12

@PatienceOfEngels I need to get a new wok and do some more stir fries. Sounds yummy! So you make sorbet or buy it? Seen a few recipes but haven't ever tried to do it myself :) I did used to do frozen yogurt but it ended up with crystals so wasn't great.

Goodafternoonmillie · 21/01/2025 10:37

Well done @Ethiopianflower on your loss!
and well done e @Sparxdislike for ignoring the food noise!! I have days like that too and its really hard!

yesterdays calories ended at: 1548

Today have completed a 30 min full body dumbbell workout.
Food Plan is:
B: Smoothie
L: roasted vegetables
D: Jamie Oliver Carbonara

weigh day tomorrow and then a meal out for me in the evening. I usually always order food with a Diet Coke but I havent had any fizzy since Boxing Day. What do other people order with food thats nice, not fizzy and not full of sugar ?? Still water maybe 🤣

PatienceOfEngels · 21/01/2025 11:08

@Sparxdislike bought!

@Goodafternoonmillie if I'm off fizz completely I'll have a still water and then a fresh mint tea or lemon/ginger tea after the meal. Though if I'm going out for dinner then I'll treat myself to a tonic. I used to love Coke but stopped caffeine after midday a few years ago so it's out for that reason alone (never mind the sugar!)

Is there any issue with fizzy water? I didn't think it was any less healthy than still water.

PatienceOfEngels · 21/01/2025 11:35

Nothing wrong with fizzy water @AnonymousMum37 but I know a lot of people don't like it on it's own (my DC love it with squash!). I'm not a fan of it myself, even with an added lime/lemon wedge. I'd rather just have still.

Goodafternoonmillie · 21/01/2025 13:00

Thank you @PatienceOfEngels

unfortunately I dont like the taste of sparkling water @AnonymousMum37 ☹️
even if there was healthy fizz I think that would just make me want proper fizz even more 🤣 before I could easily have at least one can of Pepsi Max every day😣

Sparxdislike · 21/01/2025 13:48

I don't think I can give up the fizz 🙈 I have been upping my water though.

I used to like blackcurrant and soda but imagine the blackcurrant is high in calories 🤔

I've successfully stopped my 30 year cola habit since new year.
I've replaced it with a huel fizzy drink and so far so good!
