January 2025! Following on from LOSE IT! December 2024

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 5lbs.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Well I’ve booked a John Lewis personal shopper appointment for the end of April so I have to hit my target weight by then!!

FaeryQueen · 13/01/2025 19:32

Let DH make supper - it did taste better than it looks. Just.

Left early this morning so had a large spoonful of Greek yoghurt and half an apple. I would normally skip that but I knew I'd be running around so had beter eat something.

Lunch was a mug of the homemade veg and lentil soup with a slice of bread and butter.

Tonight was the fish tacos... not a recipe to repeat!

Apart from several cups of nettle tea and more of black coffee, that is it for the day. There are no snacks I fancy in the house so I cannot be tempted...

Nice to read everyone's progress and meals 😀 I did have 2 biscuits at a coffee morning this morning but otherwise generally my diet has been really good, once I stop eating sugary treats I stop craving them. I was a bit worried after those biscuits that I'd crave more sugary foods later but I haven't phew. Weighing myself daily and am on a definite downhill trend after the first week where I stayed depressingly exactly the same!

Puffalicious · 13/01/2025 21:40

Hey,

I'm weighing tomorrow morning, & I'm so nervous in case I've lost nothing. I'm trying SO hard everyday. Hungry today, kept eating protein, but didn't feel full! Stayed in calories but I'm hungry! I'm trying to refrained it as fuelling my body, but I don't eat unhealthily normally anyway. Just feeling like it's such a hard slog.

I hope something has come off on the scales.

LemonDrizzle23 · 13/01/2025 21:45

Pretty good day here. Headed straight to the gym after drop off and did a 10km cycle and 2km walk. Made a glorious (if I say so myself) broccoli and cauliflower cheese to go with dinner. Have to remember not to eat too much of it as it would make me very bloaty 😂

Vaguely have my period - or as close as I ever come on this pill - so I don't know what that's doing to my weigh in. It's only temporary though!

AnonymousMum37 · 13/01/2025 22:18

I had 50g of fat free natural yoghurt before work, then a chicken salad for lunch with olives and prawn noodle stir fry for dinner. I was actually under 1000 calories according to MFP so had a few nuts left from Christmas or it wouldn't let me record the day as finished! 😆

Ethiopianflower · 14/01/2025 08:20

Just did my weigh in and I’ve lost 3lbs this week. I’m delighted with that. I’m a vegetarian so eat a lot a lot of vegetables, hummus and 2 eggs a day and drink copious amounts of tea ☕️. I’m not a great fan of water so try and get my water through my tea. 8lbs down since I started. This all got started when my little daughter very innocently said to me that i Was a chubby mummy 🤣🤣

Jaderz · 14/01/2025 08:20

I’m not doing so good on the weight loss recently I am all over the place weight wise but I will just keep going as eventually I will see a result. I’m not even eating off plan so no idea why I am so up and down must be water. Experience has taught me to just keep going. I did my first workout last night to ease back in.

OliveZebra · 14/01/2025 09:17

Starting (last week) 10 stone 12
This week 10 stone 11.75

I have been bulk cooking chicken and roasting lots of vegetables. Instead of calorie counting, I’ve been using the chicken and vegetables as the base for my lunches and dinner. I’ve been keeping it interesting by mixing up putting in a sandwich/ having with pasta / changing sauces and cheeses etc.

Not a big loss, but have found sticking to this so far pretty easy and really enjoying the food! I have also found I feel pretty full - so have eaten way less sweets and chocolates than normal.

Goodafternoonmillie · 14/01/2025 10:15

Well done everyone keep going.
I have struggled last couple of days to stay in calories and stop the snacking. Nervous about tomorrow weigh in but all part of the process.

I slept in today and so havent done a workout yet. I will either - go for a big walk on my lunchbreak or do a short workout straight after work.

B: Smoothie
L: Tomato Soup
D: meatballs and salad

Any recipes you could share? I love the same sort of food as you

Puffalicious · 14/01/2025 12:16

Tuesday is my weigh in & I'm well chuffed at a 2lb loss. It's only week 2, so probably still.water weight, bit I'm taking it anyway. I've stuck to my 45 min speed walk every day since the 1st & I really do feel a little fitter already & my chest isn't as tight after the chest infection of December. I'm hungry some days, but powering through.

SW 14st 2lb
CW 13st 11lb
TW 11st 7lbs (will prob be lower eventually).

Can't wait to be in the 12s- I know it's a long way off yet, but dreaming!

Ethiopianflower · 14/01/2025 12:20

@happytobemrsg
My favourite is to dice up a courgette, 2 celery sticks, mushrooms. Fry them up with 1 calorie spray oil till nice and soft. Then whisk 2 eggs, add some low fat grated cheese and mix with the veggies. Yummy - delicious. You could also add in some tinned chop tomatoes 🍅 I also love the simple hummus on whole meal bread with black pepper on top - very quick and simple but still delicious

happytobemrsg · 14/01/2025 13:01

Also not looking forward to tomorrow’s weigh in!

Did a yin yoga video yesterday & it wiped me out! Will be taking it a bit easier today.

Food plan today is:
Usual morning latte
Porridge made with water, mashed banana & seeds
Then… I don’t really know 🤔

AnonymousMum37 · 14/01/2025 13:43

This morning I ran intervals and then did a recovery run. I love it when I reach my 10000 steps before breakfast!

B: a boiled egg and a coffee with oat milk
L: 2 veggie sausages in 1 slice of bread with salad and mustard.
T: Vegetarian pasta Bolognese (forgot to buy spaghetti 😆)

Calories should come in at 1234 which is such a satisfying number it should put me off snacking!!

socks1107 · 14/01/2025 15:53

Todays menu is

Porridge

Crackers, cheese, protein yoghurt and cashew nuts

Skinny fries and Richmond sausages. I have enough left to have a protein shake should I need one.

Down on the scales today so hoping tmrw will be positive.

I've ordered shorts in the sale from Zara that have arrived, they only had a size down available so I bought them ready to fit by September for my holiday! May take progress photos as I go

FaeryQueen · 14/01/2025 16:14

Well looks like DH's cooking did not agree with him! He was very ill last night! I was fine so no idea what it was. He's fully recovered now and blaming the chocolate biscuits he ate at bridge club.

So far today

Slice of toast with butter and marmite
Cafe "homemade" tomato and lentil soup with bread roll and butter

I shouldn't have eaten the roll really but it was so nice I did! And I enjoyed it.

Tonight will be a Portobello Mushroom & Chilli burger with onion rings, sweet potato chips and a green salad. I will not be having any burger bread though!

I'm also cooking!

BlueLightBetty · 14/01/2025 17:08

Can I join you all? I started on 1st Jan at 12st 4 (I'm 5ft 4, so BMI 29.4). Heaviest I've ever been. I do 'Weigh in Wednesday' and the first week lost 5lb. But since Friday we've been staying with elderly family and it's VERY slow and sedentary and I don't have any control about what and when we eat. Refusal is seen as a major rebuff! So I've definitely put on weight again now. I go home tomorrow and feel like I need a group to help when things get tricky in future!

Sparxdislike · 14/01/2025 17:17

I feel very bloated so not looking forward to tomorrow. Think it may be the chia seeds in my overnight oats (I am weighing them and having lots of water).

B overnight oats
L vegetable soup (homemade)
D meatballs made with low fat steak mince, homemade sauce with extra veg and pasta.

Snacks, hot chocolate and cut up apple/grapes with 0% fat Greek yogurt.

Puffalicious · 14/01/2025 17:21

Thankyou Sparkxdislike. I'm on the cusp of trying Mounjaro, so seeing a loss doing it the traditional way is very motivating. I'm hoping I get used to being hungry!🤤

I made your eggy, veggie meal tonight with sprinkled feta & home-made tzatziki on the side (was making Greek pork for the family anyway). It was so delicious that I resisted the yummy flatbreads everyone else had. Thanks for that.

I was so under my cals that I had an unreal treat - a Fry's Orange Creme! I do adore them, but after no sugar for 2 weeks it was soooooo sweet. That'll mean I'll avoid them now, so win-win (perhaps once a week/ 10 days 🙈🤣).

Goodafternoonmillie · 15/01/2025 06:18

Last week: 10 stone 5.0, body fat 33.2%
today: 10 stone 5.6, body fat 32.6%

so 0.6 of a lb gained but some body fat has gone so I will take it :)
need to keep my motivation up as the snacks crept in this week.

today:
b: smoothie
l: on the go with work today - will find something healthy
d: fish and peas

just about to do a 30 min cardio!

happy wowing people!

LemonDrizzle23 · 15/01/2025 07:07

Morning WOWers! A good week here for me, with a 0.8kg loss. Weight crept up slowly over November and December, so I'm pleased to finally be reversing it.

SW: 94.1kg
CW: 93.3kg
5%: 89.5kg

Wishing good luck to anyone weighing in this morning!
