January 2025! Following on from LOSE IT! December 2024

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 5lbs.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

So far, hard boiled egg and salad with one slice of toast
Rather a lot of black coffee.

I have a ridiculous amount of beetroot in the fridge ( thanks veg box). It's roasting with some onions in the Remoska at the moment. I'm due to go out for the rest of the afternoon as soon as it's done so I'm hoping some inspiration on what to put with it will strike at some point.

Ha, I had loads of beetroot in this week’s veg box too! I don’t like beetroot though so am stuck with it and no idea what to do with it.

Anyone else feeling a bit cold and hungry and tired today? I missed my yoga class this morning as couldn’t bring myself to get out of bed and get ready for it. Then felt bad for missing it.

Goodafternoonmillie · 12/01/2025 14:56

@socks1107 well done resisting the fizzy. I am the same, last time I had a pepsi max was Boxing Day. I intend to give it up properly this year 💪🏻

@Forgotmyoriginalusername yes definitely feeling the same. Its so cold!!

Today I took kids out for a 3 mile walk/jog before breakfast. They took so long that breakfast was at nearly midday so that helped 😄 (they did have some apple rings to keep them going).

So today is:

B/L: 4x bacon medallions, some rocket and spinach salad and a spoonful of mashed avocado on a slice of seeded bread.

D: homemade toad in the hole with veggie sausages, tenderstem broccoli, carrots, peas and onion gravy.

Again, DH has bought a pudding. I'm getting a bit annoyed as I feel he's sabotaging me! But I'll have a small piece of apple crumble and a scoop of ice-cream as the kids will think it's weird if I don't, with a cup of vanilla chai tea.

Carbs attract water, for every 1g of carbs you consume you hold something like 3g of water, but this passes through as you burn it. This is why people go on very low carb diets because you hold less water and it looks like less on the scale.

Same calories on different days one with more carbs and more exercise you will hold more water in your body. Then you will wee or sweat it out, It’s not fat gain. Carbs don’t make you gain fat as a macro. Too many carbs can make you feel bloated for this reason.

So I’ve not put on 0.4lb fat? That’s good! Otherwise it’s very disheartening. Maybe I’m not cut out for daily weighing 😂

happytobemrsg · 12/01/2025 16:42

@socks1107 excellent willpower 💪🏻

Today is my dad’s birthday so I popped over there with DS5 & my brother’s family was there too. Mum got out the biscuits & I am pleased to report I didn’t have any! DS did & he ate them on my lap… they smelled so good.

For breakfast I had porridge with water, 1/2 mashed banana & mixed seeds. Due to the FA football on the tv dinner is a bit later than usual today. We’ll be having a roast with grilled chicken (only way I know how to cook it & it’s only for me & the baby).

LemonDrizzle23 · 12/01/2025 18:13

Has been very cold again here today - I sympathise with everyone trying to find motivation!

We spent the morning with family (I resisted a mince pie) and then went into town and ended up having lunch out which was tasty. Vietnamese so not horrendously calorific for restaurant food.

We were all getting itchy feet this afternoon after a day of sitting, so we went to the gym and DH took DS in the pool, while I had a good 45min stomp on the treadmill. Definitely feel better for some movement!

TheRealHousewife · 12/01/2025 18:50

Still very cold here 🥶🥶🥶. The roast dinner warmed me up but I agree with others that have said the cold weather makes us ‘snacky’. Just had a few mixed nuts.

How accurate are the TDEE calculators online? Does anyone use it to work out how many calories to have?

Puffalicious · 12/01/2025 21:16

Another cold day, but braved my 45 min speed walk with a podcast in. I'm really tired this evening, though, for no real reason. Shall get the ironing out to gee myself up!

B: Greek.yogurt with seeds & honey
L: Boiled eggs & spinach
D: Hotsmoked salmon, prawns, cabbage & broccoli
Snacks: Tea with milk/ Soreen bar/ tiny piece of Green & Black's 🍫

I'm drinking loads more water but on the loo loads! When does it tail off?!

That looks yummy!

Just made my overnight oats for the morning :) I have topped them with frozen mango and pineapple nom! Looking forward to that.

Today wasn't great as did have chips with my friends at bowling 🙈 I have been good all week so hopefully it will all balance out. I ate well the rest of the day so 🤞

Goodafternoonmillie · 13/01/2025 06:51

I just completed a 20 min dance workout, to keep things fun 😃

B: Smoothie
L: Gado Gado
D: Chicken & Salad

have a good Monday everyone!!

I would doubt it, keep weighing and see what the trend is. Mine is up and down all the time for this reason as my water content fluctuates.

socks1107 · 13/01/2025 08:07

I've bounced up a 1lb this morning. So that means I've lost half a pound in two weeks.
How disappointing. I've cut out my cola habit, stuck to my calories and even stopped my Sunday half bottle of wine. How much more miserable does it have to be?! I'd have expected at least a couple of pound by now.
I'll keep going, I go on holiday two weeks tmrw and if there's no improvement I'm ordering mj Grin

eekwhatnow · 13/01/2025 08:08

Your food records are really inspiring me! Yesterday I recorded everything I ate without trying to limit myself just to see what I was doing. It wasn't great. So many snacks!
Today my plan is:
Breakfast: overnight oats
Lunch: left over sweet potato and black bean chilli
Supper: pasta with cheese spinach sauce and lots of salad
Snacks: taking baked crisps and an apple to work plus lots of herbal tea. And maybe one teeny tiny bit of chocolate to have post lunch as I really crave it after meals.

rainbow616 · 13/01/2025 09:45

My first weigh in today and I've lost 5.2lbs since the 2nd, which I'm quite happy with. Next time I'll weigh is on 31st. Hopefully I can get more off!

Hope everyone has a good week x

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 13/01/2025 09:49

Happy Monday everyone 😊 Plan today is:

B: Coffee with oat milk
L: Tomato soup
D: Salmon and jerk sweet potato and black bean stew

I do feel less bloated this past week so I'm hoping the scales show a difference too on Wednesday to give me a boost!

socks1107 · 13/01/2025 10:21

Today I'm having

Porridge (in a lot as easy on the go at work)
Greek youghyrt

Crackers, cheese, cashew nuts, square crisps and a protein pudding

Pasta, sauce and a little cheese with some salad

Plenty of water and still no cola!

That’s an incredible loss! Well done!

happytobemrsg · 13/01/2025 11:08

Just a breakfast & a roast dinner for me yesterday. I felt uncomfortably full after my dinner yesterday (& I didn’t even finish it) so my smaller meals are definitely having an effect. Feel bloated today. Seem to have gone back to Fridays weight now so it’s levelled off a bit. If I were able to lose a lb a week I’d hit my goal in time. Just got to keep plodding on.

Today the plan is my morning latte (will never give this up!), bagel with scrambled egg & yoghurt/berries/seeds for this evening. Lots of water. Still no crisps for 2025 & aside from 4th Jan when I hadn’t set this goal, no chocolate, cake or biscuits either.

Hoping to do a yoga video today. I’m currently a member of DL while I’m on maternity leave but need to figure something else out for when I go back to work. One of our teachers has an online subscription thing so I thought I’d give a free taster video a go & see if I like it. My main concern is that it’s via an app & the tv in my lounge yoga room is old so I’d have to use my iPad. Would prefer a bigger screen.

Interesting you are cutting crisps out. I've just found cashew nuts and they are gorgeous!!
Maybe I should double my cashew nut allowance at lunch and not eat crisps. I love crisps ! Going to try that I think

happytobemrsg · 13/01/2025 15:13

@socks1107 I’m a massive crisp eater. They are my weakness. Can easily eat half a tube of Pringles or a couple of bags of Monster Munch. I’d either eat them at night watching tv (the worst time to snack on something bad) or alongside my lunch/dinner when they are just empty calories. Because I have a hard deadline of no crisps until Feb I’m not craving them. I’m not really into nuts but DH is. He researched the various benefits of each one so I think almonds are good for lowering blood pressure etc. might be worth a look.

OkyDoke · 13/01/2025 16:08

Hi all,

Mind if I join? Have been getting back to the swing of it since the start of Jan, but the Christmas treats are all done now, so to it properly.

I'm not calorie counting at the moment, just trying to eat smaller portions, less snacks, more veg. I go to the gym 3 three times a week.

1/1/25 - 94.7kg
13/1/25 - 94.1kg

I am a very slow loser. Lets see how we get on!

Ethiopianflower · 13/01/2025 16:36

Just had my treat of the day - a bag of crisps under 100 calories. I really look forward to them each day. Before this I lived on crisps - downing at least 4 packs a day. My weak spot. I’m weighing in tomorrow 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
