January 2025! Following on from LOSE IT! December 2024

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 5lbs.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Cardio completed
Brown lentil bowl with 2 potatoe waffles for my dinner.
Thinking for snack shall I have a small slice of cake with my cup of tea as it's Friday.

TealSloth · 10/01/2025 21:24

I've had slice of cake and Jacobs mini crinkle and a nice hot brew that's me done for tonight.

Thank you SO MUCH! I’ve saved this to my phone. When you say to fry off the vegetables is that the carrots as well? Sounds yum! I just found this online so might give this a go as well as I have most of the ingredients already: www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/veggie_slow-cooker_curry_48226

Yes -you don't need to but I always do!

That veg curry looks nice, I would add coconut milk but that does bump up the calorie count quite a bit!

socks1107 · 10/01/2025 23:08

Forgotmyoriginalusername ordered for delivery tmrw thank you!

Booked a holiday for September, last year I lost weight for my holiday, have put on over half a stone since so now the last 3 stone to lose for that. So I have a good focus now

I am trying to eat much bigger dinners to stop snacking.

Had a huge plate of red cabbage, broccoli, baked fish and some rice this evening

Good Morning Everyone

That's what I do @Jaderz. I eat 2 meals a day and unless I need to take pain meds I don't have snacks in between. My daily calorie allowance is split between the two. It doesn't work for everyone. Some do better each less calories more frequently. That's why it's so important to find what works for you. In my case I try to incorporate as much nutrition as I can into each meal - fibre, good fats & plenty of protein which helps keep you satiated, hence no urge to snack. 👍

Well done everyone, still so inspiring reading everyone's recipe and meal ideas 👍🏻👍🏻 on Thursday evening instead of having rice with Vietnamese pork as I usually would I served it in lettuce cups and it was delicious! A good small change. Yesterday I really enjoyed brunch out with friends and even though I had more food than the other days and a couple of cappuccinos I wasn't that many calories over at the end of the day and in terms of the week view still well under, so that was nice. Plan for today:

B: coffee with oat milk
L: Pumpkin spice soup
D: Meatballs and orzo in tomato sauce with grated cheese

Fellsbells · 11/01/2025 08:46

B- pancake
L- chicken and broccoli pesto penne and a yogurt.
D- chick pea tagine, halloumi. Two squares of dark chocolate.

Weighed this morning and I’m back in the 9s. Ready for the next 7lbs. Aiming to do it in 5 weeks roughly.

TealSloth · 11/01/2025 09:00

Morning everyone hope your all having a good start to your weekend. The hardest days for me are weekend. I really need to be good and not mess my eating up will be making pasta today with potatoe and sweet corn and mix peppers. Try and not eat a big portion that will be my aim plus have some sort of work out today too.

Jaderz · 11/01/2025 09:17

67.6kg today so I’m not making much progress. I know this is lack of exercise. I am waiting for it to be a little warmer outside so I can go out.

I am not too worried as my goal date is April and I am on the last 7-8lbs / 4-5kg I do have time and I’ve stopped gaining which is a win!

That's what I have been doing. I had 2 bowls of my chicken hot pot to fill me up. It was full of veggies. Stopped me having Chinese with everyone else and picking on leftovers.

Goodafternoonmillie · 11/01/2025 10:37

Same! I never feel I overeat quantity-wise (must be delusional in that though as the scales seem to disagree!) so instead I am focussing on the quality of the food: and actually eating MORE than usual (but the good stuff: protein and veg) so I don’t get sugar cravings when I’m tired.

I am also trying to reframe how I view things like leftover prawn crackers: I tell myself that picking on them isn’t a ‘treat’ if they are worsening my health and potentially taking time away from my family later on. Nor is it a ‘waste of money’ to throw leftover food away if that food is not the sort of nutrition than I need.

Instead a real treat is treating my health and body kindly and taking care of myself.

I really like that mindset. Will try & remember it

Gosh you’re all doing so well. I’ve been offline recently, managed to lose 2.5kg so far. I want to lose 15 in total. Hoping to have lost another 1.5kg by the end of the month. I’ve just been calorie counting, getting my steps in and doing my usual gym stuff. Seems ok so far, not too fussed about it but hoping tk keep it up.

Sparxdislike · 11/01/2025 11:59

I do feel very bloated from the extra veggies though so don't feel better if that makes sense. Guess it takes time to settle :)

PatienceOfEngels · 11/01/2025 12:21

Have dropped a kilo since Wednesday but very sadly through the stress and sadness of the last few days. One of my PIL passed away in hospital last night. The other was discharged earlier in the week. Focus now on supporting DH and DC through the next few weeks and making sure everyone is nourished, rested and loved.

Yesterday none of us ate well/enough and we were up later with the DC talking through what has and will happen. Not much sleep - DH and I both gave up at 4am and came downstairs together so we wouldn't disturb the kids.

Going to make a chicken stew this afternoon and some soup for the freezer.

Will go back and catch up with the thread later as well.

happytobemrsg · 11/01/2025 12:23

So sorry @PatienceOfEngels 💐

Goodafternoonmillie · 11/01/2025 12:25

So sorry to hear that @PatienceOfEngels 😢

Christmasandallthetrimmings · 11/01/2025 12:31

Would love to join! Trying a little bit each day to cram some healthy ways into busy single mum life, but hoping I can get there.

happytobemrsg · 11/01/2025 12:48

I felt really ill last night & woke with a horrible headache today. I don’t think I ate enough yesterday. So I’ve started today right with porridge. Made with water & mashed banana. Omg the banana was SO SWEET. I gave up chocolate etc at the start of the year so I’m wondering if my taste buds have started to change.

I need to drink more water today too. I have two water bottles - a small 350ml one & a 700ml one. Whenever I use the small one I just don’t fill it up enough. So I’ve filled up the bigger one & it’ll follow me around.

LemonDrizzle23 · 11/01/2025 13:12

@AnonymousMum37 Oh my god I'd love to give that a go!

@Forgotmyoriginalusername Getting rid of food in the bin instead of in my stomach has been a big lesson for me! I am aiming to reduce food waste through proper meal planning, instead of adding to my calorie intake "because it's a waste to just throw it away." DH is on about finishing off loads of salami from Christmas and I just don't want to!

@PatienceOfEngels I'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of your PIL. The love and nourishment will be so important in the next few months. Look after yourself as well.

I have definitely not moved enough today! Everything is completely frozen outside still and we are hunkering down doing Lego. I think I'm going to try and head to the gym in a bit though for a cycle.

Littlemiss74 · 11/01/2025 13:27

Hi I would like to join please. I’m stuck in a rut of eating comfort food and being glued to the sofa keeping warm! I’m 50 in a few months and am going on a special holiday so thought I could use that as a goal to sort myself out. I’d like to lose up to a stone but mostly I would like to just feel healthier & fitter & look better. I have Adhd and so I find it really difficult sticking at anything and looking at where to even start I find quite overwhelming as there is just so much info online.

Has anyone got any tips for reducing the overwhelm, getting started & making myself stick to new routines? I have a gym membership but unsurprisingly I rarely go! I lack motivation & I need to change! Many thanks

FaeryQueen · 11/01/2025 13:36

Try and make small changes at first - not do it all at once!

For example I have never much liked sweet things but am totally addicted to crisps and savoury snacks in the evening. My current strategy is not to buy them as if they are not here then I can't eat them.

One thing I've found very helpful if to use a smaller dinner plate. The plate looks full with less food and it naturally cuts the portion size. My brain also thinks I've eaten more than I have as that's what my eyes have told it!

Pick one thing that's easy to change and gradually build up.

@PatienceOfEngels - I'm so sorry.

Good idea using a smaller plate! My mum does that when dieting too.
