January 2025! Following on from LOSE IT! December 2024

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 5lbs.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Weight Fluctuations & Why They Happen

Why Does My Weight Fluctuate?

The scale can change from day to day, so it can be tricky to figure out your "real" weight. Here's why it happens and how to weigh in.

DH weighs himself daily & it’s interesting to see how a good/bad day affects his weight. I’m not sure if it would be the same for me because of our cycles etc

allthenoise · 09/01/2025 10:58

Hey everyone, it's very motivating seeing all the WOWs even if they haven't moved. Just weighing for me is hard enough.

SW: 66.9 kg (25.6 % body fat)
CW: 66.4 kg (25.7 % body fat)
GW: 23 % body fat

Def water weight then as body fat didn't change.

I weigh myself daily. It keeps me on track. Easy to see where I am going wrong. It helps me rather than effects me ( if that makes sense. ) I never want to put the weight back on. So will do this daily going forward.

Fellsbells · 09/01/2025 11:16

I’m back after a week long chocolate binge mistake. I don’t know what I was thinking, but here I go again, day 1 of fighting the urge to eat sugar.

I’ll weigh tomorrow to see what the damage is.

Sparxdislike · 09/01/2025 11:28

It's icy for me so no walk today. I know I would fall over and have to walk like a penguin anyway 🙈 Soup is being made and homemade chicken curry for dinner tonight :)

Stay warm and well everyone

LuckyMauveReader · 09/01/2025 11:53

I would like to share this to put our weight loss into perspective or just to have a giggle. 😂

Well I went ahead & weighed myself & I’ve lost 0.8lb since yesterday! Body fat % went down so not all water. Amazed. I’m doing much better with my eating habits at the moment, much more consistent with no bad snacking. This is very motivating as I know it’ll get harder the closer I get to my goal.

I have 3 meals out this month to come so I will research lighter options & stick to my one main meal a day. I gave up crisps for January (this is massive) but I’ve also decided I’m going to give up all sweet treats - ice cream, chocolate, cakes etc - just for January to get a big boost towards my goal weight.

It definitely motivates DH so I’ll give it a go. Happy with today’s weigh in so it’s quite motivating. I wish I was at the maintenance stage but unfortunately I’m still a bit of a way off!

FaeryQueen · 09/01/2025 13:08

I'm nearly 1lb down on yesterday which is a new low for me!

Maybe we should all weigh in on Thursdays! 😂

Gyozas and noodles on the menu this evening. I have to leave calorie space for a couple of G&Ts as we have friends round tonight.

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 09/01/2025 14:32

I love gyozas @FaeryQueen, enjoy 😊 I've had a lovely day so far, feel in a good mood and also just haven't really felt that hungry or peckish, feel very full after a big bowl of Pumpkin Spice soup for lunch! Planning to have Vietnamese style pork and rice for dinner! I'm going out for some lunch with friends tomorrow but happily from Week View on Nutracheck looks like I've saved enough calories to just have whatever I want from the menu and will still come in under for the week 😊👍🏻💜 so all positive stuff!

TealSloth · 09/01/2025 16:13

Hi all hope you all are doing well. Today I've been really good not had any snacks or extra eating. Been on foot. Usual for breakfast and lunch. Saving my rest of calories for dinner.
Will be getting on my bike later on 20 mins today.

Goodafternoonmillie · 09/01/2025 19:30

went way over my calories today as was ravenous for some reason. However, instead of heading for the chocolate stash I snacked on yoghurt, fruit & chia seeds, and then later on some cucumber slices with a small wedge of cheese. So Im happy with the healthier choices 🤩

Very well done!!

Puffalicious · 09/01/2025 20:10

I've also been ravenous today- think it's the cold (-6 right now, brrrr )..Went to work off some cals just there with a walk, & about turned as it's an ice-rink out there. Disappointed 😞. I'll get back on it tomorrow.

Puffalicious · 09/01/2025 20:21

But I've actually done MFP & I'm under 1500 cals (trying to do 1200-1400), so not that bad, & lots of the calories were actual dinner as I was so hungry.

I think it was forgetting my lunch (in fridge!) of overnight oats, & I only had a choice of quite thin soup at the lunch hall, so I do need that long acting oat/ protein hit.

TealSloth · 09/01/2025 20:26

Today under 1400 calories
20 minutes on bike
Plus sit ups
Am staying upstairs so I don't have any snacks brush teeth and in bed. That's my aim for tonight.

Jaderz · 09/01/2025 20:28

I was fed up today and ate more than I should this eve of my calories on rubbish. I think I’m within budget but I still haven’t done any exercise as I’m so cold.

TheRealHousewife · 09/01/2025 20:43

How’s everyone?

I’m quite pleased; So far this year (all 9 days of it) I’ve been on plan, weighed most foods for portion control, logged everything and got the water in 😬

Todays lunch. The white dressing is Greek yoghurt, lemon juice, dill, tarragon and chopped gherkins👇

Not sure that I want to post the actual numbers, but here goes.

Finally worked up the courage to weigh myself this morning, after two months of daily binges. 18.09 My initial goal is 17.02, because that means a smaller size clothes. After that, 16stone which will take me below a bmi of 40.

LegoTherapy · 09/01/2025 20:59

Stuck in again today with Ds due to the weather.
We had takeaway pizza, chips and onion rings for dinner 😩 Dd was at an after school gcse thing and I'd been busy putting Christmas decorations away and not sorted dinner and those are my excuses and I'm sticking to them 🤣

About to do day 3 of the work out. Send thoughts and prayers its core day. I'm not sure I have a core!

@GrannyInTheGarden you can do it! I like your smaller increment method. I'll repeat myself and recommend the Happy Scale app because it sets you smaller achievable goals and it's such a boost. Each goal is divided into 10 sections and it tells you how close you are and how much further you need to go. It really helps to keep your focus. I'm maintaining but I've stuck a lower weight in to illustrate my point for you. It's a free app. Slow and steady never lost the race and slow loss equals sustained loss in my experience and I'm
Sure I'm not the only one. Keep plodding on and keep posting here even if you've not got a success to share. This thread is even better for the rubbish days than the great days I think.
