January 2025! Following on from LOSE IT! December 2024

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 5lbs.

I think I’ve perfected my porridge this morning - I don’t love porridge as a rule, but it’s a good breakfast option. Ratio 1 oats to 2 liquid (half milk half water. Had it with some raspberries, chia seeds and chopped Medjool date, so better in the fibre front already today.

Later on the menu:

L - leek & potato soup, falafel & hummus, piece of fruit and some quavers
D - sausage pasta dish

A ‘rest’ day for my exercise plan, but I will try and get out at lunchtime for a short walk and/or do a flexibility class when I get home. I’d like to look at upping my steps, but for this month, getting back into a good routine for food and regular exercise is enough to be focussing on.

Hello All, I was very active on these threads back in 2023 and lost 12kg as a result, I actually managed to keep it off for most of last year but its slowly creeping back so need to get back on the wagon. I plan on using a combination of reduced portion sizes, fasting and more exercise. I never hit my target weight last time so I would like to lose the 4kg I've put back on first and then aim for the extra 3kg to reach my target.

Planning to start TTC in about 12 months' time so i'd like to be at optimum health currently I am a healthy BMI but have quite a bit more fat and less muscle than I did 6 months ago.

stuck to plan yesterday and completed at 1499 calories. Added another 10 min yoga stretch in before bed.

30 min strength workout (legs)
B:Smoothie
L: Salad
D:Chicken and salad

Thanks for organising this. I'm currently 77kg and wanting to be around 62kg in the spring so I can enjoy my clothes and body more as the days warm up.

I'm aiming for a generally healthier and more reasonable relationship with food and my body. I'm going to see what works a bit at a time.

I've done keto in the past. But, I'm not sure if I want to cut out carbs completely. I think more low cal -Mediterranean style of eating is how I'm starting- not loads of carbs though ... Anyway, first and foremost, is calming things down after the festivities! 😀

Looking forward to sharing the journey with you guys! All the best wishes for you in this new year !

1600 calories yesterday, and only ~3000 steps. It's so hard to get the steps in at work, I'm out of the house 7am-7pm and then kids need food and help with homework and bed. I already put washing on overnight and hang out in the morning and make packed lunches. I work in the community for the NHS covering a large area and I'm either clinic based or driving to people's homes and it's not practical to walk unless they happen to live really close as it'd take too long! I already walk on my lunch break but I only get 30 minutes. I'm trying to build in little things like parking in the furthest space from the office etc 😅 but it doesn't amount to much!

I work 3 days a week so the other days I get more. I ran 10k this morning (slowly, as very slippery!) after taking my daughter to school.

I never eat before a run as I get a stitch, so planning on a salmon and poached egg brunch when I can drag myself out of the bath!

173.2lb today so nearly back to pre Christmas but still overweight.

AF is here today. Since having DS3 in May my period has gotten really heavy. Looking at my app the number of heavy days seem to be getting less so that’s something. It means I don’t feel like moving much today. Was up until late with DS8 as he has a tummy bug & three up everywhere. So I’m tired & grumpy. Not the best combo for weight loss.

Hi all. I was on here before and lost a lot of weight (5 stone). I got to a goal of 10st 5. Then I gained 5lbs in winter and decided I want my new goal this year to be 10st, so I have 10lbs to lose. It took me a long time to lose the last 10lbs last time so I am in for long haul.

Slightly odd lunch today - homemade cabbage and lentil soup with onion and garlic

You can tell my veg box arrives tomorrow! It was either that or beetroot soup and whilst I like roasted beetroot, I'm not a fan of it in soup.

The cabbage and lentil was actually much nicer than it sounds and I made enough for a couple of days.

Tonight will be some sort of paneer curry I think.

Today's meals :

B: Coffee with oat milk
L: Chicken soup, two small slices of brown sourdough with butter
D: Two sausages, ratatouille and butter beans

Should hopefully come in with about 400 cals to spare for a nice evening snack, some of the never ending Christmas chocolate! Yoga to do later, last day of Adriene's new Prana series but then after that will just carry on with her daily calendar suggestions. I still haven't done my first kettlebell workout - I think Thursday morning will be the best time for it 👌

Craving comfort food so my one main meal today will be just that - one toasted bagel & garlic scrambled egg. I’ve never had garlic scrambled egg before but gave it to DS as part of his weaning a couple of weeks ago & it’s so yummy!

It’s amazing how you can just put together meals like that based on whatever is in the fridge! I’m not a confident cook but have a keen interest 😂

I have a sedentary life so I need to force myself to get more active. I despise cold weather I will not go out in it of an evening if it’s 0 degrees and pitch black and I am not a gym fan either in all honesty.

Yes I gained at least 5 lb over December so really trying to reign it in for January 😣.
I have also snacked on natural yoghurt and fruit today.

Did yoga on Monday & planning something else tomorrow. Either a nice stretchy yoga video if I’m still feeling achy (something with lots of sun salutations I think) or a weights session. I’m super fortunate in that we have a professional-grade gym at home. I have a short 30min weight programme which I quite enjoy but haven’t done since November 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I’ll be back at 2 sets of 10s.
