January 2025! Following on from LOSE IT! December 2024

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 5lbs.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Morning! I've been back at it this week. I knew yesterday I would blow my calories which I did, but not worrying about it as it was a planned day out and I enjoyed myself. I actually only went to maintenance in calories so not too bad.
This is the first of our Sundays no alcohol. We normally have two glasses on a Sunday but until summer when we love a beer garden we are giving it up for Sundays! ( don't drink in the week) it should help keep me on track today

Good Morning ⛄️

Welcome to the thread @UnreadyEthel & @justanotherboymum You’ll both love it here 😬 Very supportive ladies who are always happy to share their progress or bumps in the road ❤️

First thing this morning the garden looked great covered in a decent blanket of snow ❄️. Not so much now after the beloved dog went bonkers and had the zoomies all over it 😅

Menu
Meal 1 - Spicy Chicken tray bake. Greek yogurt & berries.
Meal 2 - Cheese platter with seeded crackers.
Tea, black coffee & water.

Looks delicious!

I'm jealous of all your snow reports. Normally it's us up here in Scotland getting it all, but none this weekend in the central belt It is bitterly cold, though. I love snow ❄️.

The Shop of Good Intentions has just been put away. I'm going to make a spinach and ricotta lasagne for dinner. I've got dough rising for bread and also for breakfast muffins. Soup for tomorrow. The spinach is fresh and I want to use it asap because otherwise it ends up getting thrown out. I also have frozen spinach.

My alarm is set for 6am and the plan is to do the CG work out before my cup of tea.

littlepurplerose · 05/01/2025 14:09

I'm excited to do my WOW because I am certain I will be less 💪🏼

PatienceOfEngels · 05/01/2025 15:45

Afternoon all.

Managed to restrain myself from bingeing last night (though did still have some cheese, crackers and grapes).

Today am shattered. Hospital trip to visit relatives (1 still critical but stable) and fell asleep to a film this afternoon.

-boiled egg with rye toast and butter, 1x tea, 1 x coffee with milk
-leftover fish pie
-packet of Maltese's, 2 segments chocolate orange and bag of plain crisps during film, 2 x non-alcoholic gin and tonic, cup of herbal tea
-prawns, noodles and veg stir fry

Has been raining all day so no walk and nowhere near enough steps. Back to work tomorrow.

Hello everyone, lovely to see all these good starts. I think I've been doing ok, but as I'm not really following a plan yet it's hard to tell! So this post is a little review for me to reassure myself primarily.... I've been mostly sticking to my planned food, with the odd Christmas chocolate or biscuits thrown in but no major binge/comfort eating. Quite minimal on the wine, will knock it on the head for the week now but was nice to have a glass yesterday. Have exercised every other day this week, 3x runs and 1x long walk. Feeling better I think, and generally less stressed/worried than before Christmas. This week is my first proper week at my new job and I'm a bit torn on what to do about lunches. I really want to explore the campus (university job) and feel able to go for lunch/coffee with colleagues to try out different places. So I think I've decided I'll be flexible with lunches and eat on campus on the days I'm there, aiming for sensible choices (they have healthy places, it's not all fast food etc - 30 eateries in total though probably not all in sensible walking distance from my building). I'll plan on adapting my plannned evening meals if I've had a bigger meal at lunch. When I'm WFH I've got soup to have or sardines on toast which are both tasty and filling. Once I get familiar with campus I'll adjust the plan. And at least if I go out for lunch I'll get some steps in and a break from the computer!

Also final win - I haven't weighed myself since Wednesday, which is a miracle after my years of daily weighs. So tempted today but am determined to hold on.

Here's to a good week for everyone!!

OnceMoreWithAttitude · 05/01/2025 16:24

@PatienceOfEngels the only thing to be concerned abut atm is the recovery of your poor relatives. Sending a hand hold.

My eating went a bit awry yesterday (party) but hey ho - I went out for a walk, one small walk for me (only 4 or 5000 steps) but it's one giant leap for Me-kind - my first proper walk since being on crutches' and hobbling about for 3 weeks.

The more exercise I get the less mindless nibbling I am tempted by. I think the endorphins fill a gap.

AnonymousMum37 · 05/01/2025 17:23

I ate a load of rubbish today and had whiskey. Our cat died 😭

Thank you @OnceMoreWithAttitude .

I'm trying to decide what to do tomorrow. I could work from home and head to the hospital early or later in the day. But I feel like I would really like to see some friendly faces at work tomorrow after 2.5 weeks off. If I stay at home I'll probably empty the fridge and the snack cupboard. I could still leave early and stop at the hospital in the afternoon on the way home (my boss is very supportive).

I was watching some videos today for assessment from my students and I am in so many of them, walking round the classroom and am horrified at my side profile. From the front/back I feel like I look okay, but from the side my stomach is very rotund and sticks out more than my chest. In my head I look completely different. (almost as bad as when you hear your voice on a recording!).

Not sure what to prep for lunch tomorrow as have no soup in the freezer. I might pick up a salad on the way to work. Dinner will be either chicken curry or bolognese from the freezer stash.

Skyglimmer · 05/01/2025 17:56

Well done for all the good start everyone. I am starting tomorrow, going to weigh in and see the damage of December. Alarm is set for 6am to do 30 minutes on the walking pad before school run and work.

I'm interested in a walking pad. Can you, or other posters recommend one? Thanks

I got ours from Amazon. It's a slight incline which I like. I have been using it since September and has really helped with my weight loss. On my non gym days in the week I do 30 minutes walking.

TerroristToddler · 05/01/2025 20:04

Still on plan!

Brek - porridge (180 cal)

Lunch - spicy beef with cous cous (630 cal)

Snack - banana (85 cal), x1 chocolate Hotel Chocolate reindeer (62 cal)

Dinner - M&S count on us ready meal of braised beef with carrot and swede mash, with side salad added (305 cal)

Managed a 45min Peloton cycle and short arms workout today.

Back to office and work tomorrow and this is usually when it starts to be more difficult as finding time to exercise is tough. Have meal prepped a lot this weekend so freezer is stocked with low cal dinners we can just warm up, and have some M&S ready meals in case all else fails!

Haven't weighed myself since 2nd Jan. I'm usually a weigh-everyday person but just don't want to demotivate myself if the number has gone up or something so hiding from the scales and just focusing on ensuring I'm in calorie deficit each day!

Good luck this week everyone!

LegoTherapy · 05/01/2025 20:59

@AnonymousMum37 I'm so sorry about your lovely catFlowers

EdgyOliveEagle · 05/01/2025 21:13

Hiii what did everyone have for there evening snacks.
I've had pop corn. 1 mini roll, 1 rocky bar, cup of tea

FaeryQueen · 05/01/2025 21:24

I try not to have evening snacks but that is very much my weakness. I find cups of herbal tea help for me. I’m addicted to Waitrose’s, nettle, peppermint, gingko and ginger tea. It really does help curtail my desire to snack. Otherwise I just don’t buy things I like!

I’ve just taken a load of opened Christmas goodies around to my parents. There are still mince pies here but DH will eat those. I’m not really tempted by them.

Wow you've done a good job am hoping during the week il get back on track again. Hopefully. Plus get some workout in as well.
Good job

happytobemrsg · 05/01/2025 23:23

AF is lurking around the corner but I have managed to avoid chocolate today. Stuck to the plan of 1 main meal (meatless roast as I can’t cook meat & DH is vegan 😂) & 1 lighter meal (some garlic bread). No snacks for me today. Like @FaeryQueen herbal tea really help in the evening. I’m really enjoying Twinnings Raspberry & Lemon atm.

Do you all still weigh yourself when you’re on your period? Does ut go up much?

LegoTherapy · 05/01/2025 23:58

@happytobemrsg my weight goes up the last few days of my period.

Bedtime has not gone to plan seeing as I'm here at nearly midnight 🙄 I'm thinking if the cup of tea and homemade toasted muffin after my 6am workout. I've not decided which one to do yet though. Full body or work through the fuel programme or concentrate on certain areas each day? I think I'll go for the fuel one. I hope I enjoy it and it helps tone me up.

Food has been ok today. Missed breakfast and had dinner late, some chocolate but not much else.

Here's to the reset starting in the morning!

Before periods my body craves for bad food.

justanotherboymum · 06/01/2025 06:34

Morning everyone, sorry to hear about unwell relatives and the loss of your cat 😢 Times like that you have to give yourself grace and hop back on plan once you are ready.

Weighed myself just now and after so many days of staying the same my weight has now gone slightly UP! Not by much but can't believe it, I feel like I'm doing well. Will carry on. Interesting to hear about weighing more on your period, I'm on mine now so maybe that's why and I'll lose in a few days

LegoTherapy · 06/01/2025 07:08

Morning all. I've survived my first work out. I did the CG beginner one which was leg day and it was hard going to the point I had to give up on some. My balance was off so maybe first thing isn't a great time for me.
It's snowing here again and I'm waiting to see if school is open. There's not much snow but it is icy and school is up a big hill.
