Hello Members both Founders & New ❤️

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5177149-lose-it-october-opt-in-2024?reply=139067760 🍁LOSE IT! October 2024🍁

We are now in the 8 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

+0.7kg wow 😪

Everything feels hard atm. Lots of extra stresses keep popping up. Nothing big on their own but when they bundle together everything is making me feel stressed and overwhelmed.

Just arrived at my school to find that someone set a fire in the underground garage this morning and my room stinks of fumes.

PatienceOfEngels · 13/11/2024 08:18

Foodwise:
-prawns in cocktail sauce on rye toast and boiled egg.
-fruit/veg plate
-chicken, ham and leek pie with roast potatoes, broccoli and carrots
-greek yoghurt with honey
-tomato and chicken soup with bread

QuirkyRaven · 13/11/2024 08:30

I’ve had a good week, with food, with my writing and I’ve done a couple of Couch25k sessions despite unwell children and busy work days.

WoW 70kg, so 1kg down from my 71kg starting weight. I’m not drinking until Christmas, so after a wobbly start with that, I am on Day 5 and feeling good, as it’s the evening glass or two of wine that makes me snacky, which along with my ‘I’ve worked so hard I deserve a cake with my cappuccino’ is my downfall.

Am waving in encouragement to everyone persevering with this. It’s bloody hard, but I admire you all and take so much inspiration for you brilliant women.

Good luck to everyone hopping on the scales today.

OliveZebra · 13/11/2024 08:48

Starting weight - 69kg
week1 - 68.4kg
week 2 - 68.2kg
week 3 - 67.4kg
Week 4 - 67.8kg

Have done exactly the same this week as the last few, so hoping the weight gain is only temporary!

Fellsbells · 13/11/2024 09:47

9st 12 today so it’s about the same as the last month. I have stopped calorie counting. It was useful and I know what I can eat in a day now.

I’m going to push for another 6lbs. I can do it and it makes a huge difference to how I look and feel.

TheRealHousewife · 13/11/2024 09:47

Good Morning

WOW - 8st 8.4lbs. I’m surprised (but pleased) that I’ve dropped the gain in a week 🤷‍♀️. I haven’t done anything extreme; I’ve tightened portion control up is about it really.

@PatienceOfEngels Deep breath ❤️ Try not to sweat the gain (a good 💩 will sort that 😬), although I realise it isn’t always easy. Multiple daily stresses can be very disruptive and can affect weight gain/loss. Sorry to hear about the fire and I hope no one was hurt. Your life sounds tough at the moment and if you can are you able to take a day or two for yourself (mental health days perhaps). Sending a hug x

@QuirkyRaven @OliveZebra Well done on your losses 👏

Menu
Meal 1 - Hungarian Mushroom Soup. GF Seed crackers. Pecans.
Meal 2 - Chicken thigh tray bake. Sugar Free Jelly & Greek yogurt.

Tea, black coffee & water.

Nearly half way through the month peeps! Keep going with what you know works for you. Every little bit of effort will reap rewards; you’ll be glad you did and your health & wellbeing will thank you.

Amazon delivered batteries too quickly for me to have a week off WOW..... A tiny gain, but that's fair given the calorie laden three day weekend.

Feel things are generally ticking over well in terms of diet and exercise otherwise. Have got into my slow cooked lunches and getting more veg and less beige food as a result. I'm expecting a loss at next WOW I think if I follow the plan.
Knee is holding up well, although still babying it a bit.

Arson is a terrible way to start the week @PatienceOfEngels ! The stresses add up don't they.

@QuirkyRaven well done for 5 dry days 👍🏻

@TheRealHousewife I didn't quite head to bed early, but I did go up and brush my teeth at 9pm when I started feeling snacky!

champagneplanet · 13/11/2024 10:38

My first WOW today: 2lb loss!

After my overindulgence at the end of last week I'm very happy with that!

Going to carry on with my 2x daily dog walks, drinking more water (and less wine!), less snacking and use less calorie dense foods ie: salad and veg to bulk out my main meals. I do love a biscuit with a cuppa so rather than deprive myself completely I have been having the small snack packs that I get for the DCs, they are roughly less than 100 cals and are enough to satisfy me without having half a full pack!

@TheRealHousewife has just mentioned portion control and that is a big thing for me - I love my food and will clear my plate so I do need to keep an eye on that.

Keep going everyone!

I must admit I'm going to bed earlier to read after brushing my teeth. Maybe not 5pm 😅 I did get some more batteries as well 😅

It's funny when your eating healthier all you can think about is food (or is that just me) 🙈

Trying to distract myself as best I can.

Have a good day everyone :)

TheRealHousewife · 14/11/2024 09:06

Good Morning All

The weather is ‘meh’ and grey, it’s colder and we have a poorly household 😷. One of those days where you want to stay under the duvet but responsibilities say you can’t. Music is on (low), heating is on (lucky I know) and we’re making a bit pot of porridge and a pot of tea for everyone 🥣

Menu
Meal 1 - Porridge with blueberries.
Meal 2 - Bolognaise, Chicken Curry or burgers 🍔 Taken 3 items out of the freezer as we don’t know what we want. Our appetites nearly always goes off the boil with illness.

Tea, black coffee & water. Paracetamol.

A bit late but my WoW was 12 stone 4lbs I.e. the same as last week and 1lb up from 3 weeks ago. But as you pointed out @TheRealHousewife - a stone less than this time last year so that’s the important trend!

I spent Monday and Tuesday re-listening to the audiobook of The Last Diet and re-did a couple of the early exercises to help get my head back in the right place. I need to actually DO more of the exercises from the later parts of the book too as I do find writing things down and making myself be more analytical of what’s going on always works best.

Anyway, the first three days of this week have gone well from a food point of view and I’ve resisted all or nothing thinking!

Webbb · 14/11/2024 15:50

Did great yesterday and then had second dinner of McDonalds! Oops.

Had a festive drink from Starbucks today which sent me flying over todays calorie limit too. Ah well. It was yummy though!

TheRealHousewife · 14/11/2024 18:41

@OneDayIWillLearn Overall that is fabulous progress! I was the slowest loser. I worked out my rate of loss once and it was something like a 1/2 a month at times … 7 years later I’m in the 8’s after being in the 12’s. Now I’m more or less maintaining which I can live with. If I’d given up I’d estimate I’d be over 15stone … at only 5 ft 😳

@Webbb Starbucks coffee are mega calorific … it’s hard to imagine how such little quantity of liquid can hold so many calories. The main thing is to ensure you enjoyed and savoured every sip 👍

Hi everyone! So I stopped doing keto about a week ago, I just wasn't losing anymore weight despite sticking to it every day and it was getting too frustrating. I had reached my pre pregnancy weight which is great, but I still wanted to lose more. I was worried I'd put the weight back on if I stopped, but it's been very positive and I'm finally losing again since stopping keto. I'm now 57.7, goal is 55 (I was stuck at 58.5 on keto). I think I was eating too many cals on keto as it's a diet high in fat and I'm quite short, so would work for men or people needing more cals than me. I'm eating less, but anything I want. Planning to treat myself to a macdonals tomorrow night, as hubby playing footie and I'll be on my own with my 5 children 🥳

beezlebubnicky · 14/11/2024 23:14

@SparxdislikeI get hungry too at times, a cup of herbal tea or just doing something else does the trick.

@TheRealHousewife Hope everyone is feeling better soon!

@Margauxdes Glad you figured out a way of eating that works better for you, you're smashing it!

Been very tired this week and work a bit of a stress but still staying on plan!

B - Black coffee, cottage cheese, ham, toast, an apple
L - Leftover veg tray bake on a bed of spiced yoghurt
D - Sea bass with chimichurri, chips and black olive broccoli
S: Caramel crunch bar, mini Twister ice cream

Skyglimmer · 15/11/2024 06:19

I decided to switch to weigh in every 2 weeks as some weeks I lose hardly anything and then I have a big loss the following week but the weeks where I wasn't loosing was really demotivating. I lost 1.1kg 😃 that takes me to a total of -6kg since the start of December. I'm so pleased.

Sparxdislike · 15/11/2024 07:11

Well I have sts but I am on my time of the month and so bloated :( I have been so good this week and counted everything I have eaten. I'm not going to let it get me down as I normally always gain around this time. Onwards and upwards :)
