Hello Members both Founders & New ❤️

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5177149-lose-it-october-opt-in-2024?reply=139067760 🍁LOSE IT! October 2024🍁

We are now in the 8 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Hello @TheRealHousewife 👋

I've just been stalking the Christmas boards while DS plays, and then this popped up. Can't believe it's only 8 weeks til Christmas!!

Signing on for the 8 week countdown. Thank you for the new thread!

HangryHandful · 31/10/2024 14:53

I’m in!

I’ve just started having just tipped into obese, hitting 13 stone 11lbs on the scales & have 3 stone to lose. It was a wake up call just last week Thursday so I’ve been tracking calories and making healthier choices since.

I tried to make a healthy meal plan I can eat week in/week out and unintentionally it’s low carb (but not no carb) but it feels good so far and though it’s very early days I tentatively say I think it’ll sustainable.

anyway, happy to join this thread as with it being new I feel like it’s all I’m thinking about at the minute and as such all I am talking about and I’m wary of becoming too much for my family! But mostly, looking forward to regular check ins and accountability.

Hi! 👋

Stuck in a very boring meeting. Will pop in later to update my goals for November.

TheRealHousewife · 31/10/2024 15:16

Welcome @HangryHandful You’ve come to the right place 👍 The ladies on these threads are very supportive and inspiring 👌. Baby consistent steps will get you there. Don’t sweat any hiccups you may have, as being human they are a normal part of the journey 🥰

I will be joining in again. Gone a bit off plan with my holiday and now half term but not fully given up like I used to. Weigh in over the weekend to see the damage.

AllBranEater · 31/10/2024 16:39

I'd like to join too please! I lost 4 stone over a couple of years (from 15 stone 4 to 11 stone 4), but I've put on again and I'm now 175 lbs. I've come back to it as I'm having bad pain from (probably) gallstones, and need to eat low fat. I'll need support for this, as I generally just calorie count, so could still have treats and adjust for them. But 99% of my treats are high fat, so that's a no.

Spink86 · 31/10/2024 16:50

I'm in! Since the start of July I've gone from 15stone 10 to 13 stone 13. I aim to eventually be 12 stone 4. I've started couch 2 5k and yoga in the last couple of weeks and got a dress to slim into!

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 31/10/2024 17:03

Can I join?
I've got half a stone to drop, but motivation is pretty low. Would love to get to 11st 7 by Christmas (currently 12st).

I'm going to do 18:6 and cut down on carbs, increase protein, and no crisps :)

OliveZebra · 31/10/2024 17:06

Also jumping over to this thread from the October one.

I’m down from 69kg to 68.2kg over the last two weeks. Hoping to get below 67kg by Christmas!

ChickenChipsandBeans · 31/10/2024 17:34

I can't believe it's only 8 weeks until Christmas! I've been ill this week, so no walks, but having been completely 100% on plan the last couple of days, it's no wonder I'm still basically at the same weight I was this time last year as all those little extras add up don't they? I have also been watching episodes of Secret Eaters and I can relate to the denial that so many of them are in! All I want is a cup of tea and some biscuits but I will not cave. I took myself off to bed with a lemon and ginger tea last night and actually enjoyed it.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/10/2024 18:47

8 weeks till Christmas! How have I not managed to lose a full stone yet this year??? There’s still time. Good luck everyone! Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife !

beezlebubnicky · 31/10/2024 21:18

Joining the new thread. Halloween has been a bit of a struggle with lots of mini choccies and sweets left over from trick or treaters. I've snacked on a few, but miraculously managed to stay within my calorie target.

Been finding that high protein breakfasts are really helping control my hunger throughout the whole day. I love eggs! Today I had a bit of smoked salmon and an egg on toast and it was bloody heavenly.

SW: 11st 2 lb
GW: 9st

Margauxdes · 31/10/2024 22:47

Hi all, would love to join! Been on the keto diet for over a month now. Started at 62 kg, went up to 62.5 after the first week which was VERY demoralising but now down to 58.8 at last weigh in, although I did reach 58.2 last week. My goal was to go back to pre pregnancy weight of 58 which I've now attained but would like to go down to 55 kg. I don't know if there's anyone else doing keto here, but I find that I easily get out of ketosis which isn't great. Yesterday I ate goat cheese which tasted very sweet, I think it had added sugar and today I was out of ketosis. Just a few days ago, I had an Indian takeaway and again it kicked me out of ketosis although I didn't have any carbs, but I suspect the sauce had added sugar. So it's been very slow, annoyed at not being able to stay in ketosis consistently but I'm still motivated to keep at it

LemonDrizzle23 · 01/11/2024 07:22

@TheRealHousewife I've just finished refurbing our kitchen painfully slowly over the summer. It was worth it! But nice to have it off my plate - and be able to consistently access my kitchen!

DS's birthday is right at the beginning of December, so we have a little extra madness tucked in there before Christmas itself as well.

For the second year in a row, I bought Halloween sweets that I don't like, so that I couldn't be tempted by left overs. But actually we had so many trick or treaters this year that they're practically gone!

LegoTherapy · 01/11/2024 07:43

8 weeks! Eek! I just seen to hover around 8 stone 9 pounds without any effort now thanks to these boards. I don't know whether I've got the headspace to make enough changes to do anything to lose any more. My stomach was much flatter at 8st 3/5lb. My intention when joining these threads 2 years ago was 9st 3lb but I am much better below 9 stone and nearer 8. BMI around 20/21. I still have plenty of lard but if my scales are to believe I have a lot of muscle too and a body age of 29. Not bad for 48! I wish it actually looked 29 though 😩

Welcome to all the new joiners and returners too. These threads have seen me lose 2 stone and keep it off without massive effort. Hard work but not half as bad as I thought it would be. IF helped me along with knowing my tdee and using my fitness pal to track calories and check portion sizes. These threads are so supportive and welcoming. Thanks @TheRealHousewife for another thread to keep me accountable.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/11/2024 07:47

Buying Halloween sweets that you don’t like is genius @LemonDrizzle23

i stopped DH going out for more when we started running low. I just put all the lights out when we were finished instead. Might have had a packet of lovehearts and a mini Milky Way though…

But new month! I’m out for lunch/drinks/rugby tomorrow, should that will be heavy on the calories, so will be refraining from Friday night wine tonight! I just need to remember that later in the day…

PatienceOfEngels · 01/11/2024 08:47

Morning all!

Using my last wow as my starting weight for this month. Would love to see make some progress on the scales before Christmas as still 5kg to go to a healthy BMI.
Have 2 days out planned which will be treat days but for the rest I am going to try and stick to these goals:

-daily yoga
-daily walk
-daily journalling
-no evening snacking
-no UPF snacks or sugary drinks

I know I can easily stick to no alcohol and no caffeine after breakfast, and most of my daily menu is homemade/minimally processed, so going to focus on the above to help me manage my mind. Struggling to relax and feeling overwhelmed is my biggest problem right now (as I then overeat, eat the wrong thing, or tell myself I don't have time to exercise then end of doom scrolling).

Plan for today:
breakfast: boiled egg, rye toast with butter, coffee x2
lunch: pumpkin pancakes with greek yoghurt and honey
dinner: burgers with paprika wedges
exercise: yoga (YWA Revolution day 1, just about to do it!) and evening walk

Happy November everyone!

beezlebubnicky · 01/11/2024 08:59

We can do it 😄. Woke up at 5 and couldn't get back to sleep so I'm nervous, because when I haven't slept my hunger hormones go out of whack and I find it hard to resist stuff. But I'm determined to stay strong.

@PatienceOfEngels Paprika wedges, yum! Must make those.

I'm going to do a walk at lunchtime and today's food plan is:

B: Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, mushrooms and a drizzle of spicy chilli oil.
L: Leek and potato soup
D: Prawn and chickpea curry I made last night

anon2022anon · 01/11/2024 09:08

I'm new, but with you!
I've commited to 30 days of being fully into this. We have a meal out on the 23rd, but nothing else planned in. I haven't weighed myself, and I don't intend to, but I know that in September, I was 89kg and I've definitely put on weight since then.

I have downloaded a (paid for) high protein meal plan, that works well for family meals still. I AM going to hit 10k steps a day. I am going to drink at least 1 litre of water a day. I am going to avoid sugar at the very least on weekdays. All of these are achievable.

I'm also committed to no clothes spending/ social media for November, as I've spent 2 busy months of work doing nothing but eating sugar, buying shit I don't need, and reading shit on social media. I don't need that.

My target is to be happier when starting fitting for my wedding dress in February time.

TheRealHousewife · 01/11/2024 09:13

I’m in!

I’ve joined so many of these threads over the years. I tend to be very enthusiastic at the start and then drop out after a couple of weeks. 8 weeks is a good, short, goal and something that may keep me hooked.

Ive just had three mugs of tea, so will weigh in tomorrow. Last time I weighed, I was 11’ 7. I’d like to be a stone down by Christmas and 1 1/2 stone down by my holiday in February. I will be doing the 5:2 and IF diet as it’s the only thing that’s ever worked for me.

Thanks for starting the thread @TheRealHousewife

MercuryRising · 01/11/2024 09:36

I'm in!!! I had bloods done at the drs last week and had a call yesterday to say some of my indicators for my liver are slightly raised. He recommended losing some weight and cutting down on alcohol...it was a wake up call. As of this morning I weigh 181.2 pounds...I am aiming to be 170 by Christmas. I am following Team RH to achieve this.

sinamordetrabajo · 01/11/2024 10:15

Joining in after losing 5 pounds last month. I'm in the healthy bmi range but only just and I feel and look a lot better around 1.5 stone lighter... been ill for 2 weeks so haven't been able to exercise, hoping to be back to full strength next week as I really miss getting out for run/swim/yoga
