Hello Members both Founders & New ❤️

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5177149-lose-it-october-opt-in-2024?reply=139067760 🍁LOSE IT! October 2024🍁

We are now in the 8 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Morning, epic fail last night as consumed a takeaway and a bottle of red. But scales aren’t that bad considering just budged a pound. Having a morning decaf coffee then of for a run couch to 5k. Raining a bit here so waiting for it to ease off then I think I will did out a long sleeved running top instead of usual t-shirt. Then going to make that berry medley for me and dd when back. Read greek yoghurt is good protein which I am looking at more due to my age.

Sparxdislike · 10/11/2024 08:07

Well done on doing a morning run :) I can't run due to health so building up on walks. I think takeaways are full of salt which shifts the scales as well. I think the odd indulgence is ok. If you constantly deprive yourself that's when you fall off the wagon so to speak :)

Enjoy the merry medley. I need to focus on protein as I love carbs 😬🙈. Xx

Webbb · 10/11/2024 10:54

I stayed the same and I'm very pleased about it, after overeating on holiday and having my period this week!

Feeling motivated to get back on it with gusto this week, having a Wagamama for lunch but otherwise will be bang on it. Really want to shift a stone before christmas.

beezlebubnicky · 10/11/2024 16:11

Went over 200 cals over yesterday but still losing weight it seems. Going to stay a little under target today to compensate.

Lazy Sunday for me today with the injury. Think it's slowly getting better. Need to up my protein I think but I'm also prioritising fibre and lots of veg to keep me full.

SW: 11st 3
CW: 10st 12
GW: 9st

Today's menu:
L: Bacon, mushrooms, beans
D: Pork el pastor tacos with pineapple salsa, refried beans
S: Popcorn fibre bar, mini Twister ice cream

LemonDrizzle23 · 10/11/2024 16:54

Had a lovely weekend with the in-laws. Although they brought wine, crisps and chocolates with them 😂 so the calories went up a bit! We went out for lunch today, so I avoided pudding in an attempt to balance it out....

OneDayIWillLearn · 10/11/2024 18:01

Oh dear, ate nearly 3000 calories on Friday and on Saturday. Today will be a bit better but still over 2000. I had a good 3/4 days back on the waggon after half term and was starting to think that - after 5 months of being on a really positive track and losing over a stone - I had finally broken the boom/bust diet cycle……but my motivation seems very easily shaken at the moment and I can see myself going back to old ways.

I’m feeling very despondent and not sure how to get myself out of this. I guess tomorrow’s a new day and I will try to get back on track again…..

TheRealHousewife · 10/11/2024 20:54

@OneDayIWillLearn Please don’t despair or give up. If you fall into the all or nothing mindset you’ll set yourself up to fail. We all have set backs and as long as the overall trajectory is downwards you’re winning 👍. As I’ve been healthy eating for several years now I tend to look at what my weight was this time last year. My current weight is always less.

Lovely day out in the big city Saturday with lots of steps, but no yoga and too much UPF/eating out. My body's taken a beating this week what with the takeaway last week as well.

Still feeling very low on energy and motivation atm. Not loving November!

TheRealHousewife · 11/11/2024 07:28

Good Morning All … hope it’s going to be sunny where you are. Here it’s trying to peek through ☀️

If you find you’re stalling or losing motivation, try resetting your intentions, affirming your plan and glance over your progress to date no matter how small. Visualise how you want to look and feel and keep making and taking the baby steps to reach your goal 👍. It will be worth it!

@LemonDrizzle23 Sounds a perfect weekend!

@TheRealHousewife Just what I needed to hear this morning. Frustrated as ran and put in so many steps yesterday. Counted my calories and still put on a flipping pound! Definitely hormones. Anyway all in all I have started to make changes. Exercising more and really looking at what I am eating. I might have been just over my base goal weight but I also know that I had that extra hot chocolate so accountability. Anyway start again and refresh.

TheRealHousewife · 11/11/2024 08:55

That’s a great mindset @Midnightstar76 👍. For me, I’m never on a ‘diet’ and nothing is forbidden. I’ve made sustainable realistic changes that all help me to look and feel my best without deprivation. There are no quick fixes in this weight loss malarkey 😬

Well I stepped on the scales this morning, and the weight said "Lo". Sadly I don't think it was talking about my weight Grin So now I need to find some batteries.

Consider this a public service announcement - Christmas is coming people, buy batteries! There will always be something Christmas Day that requires batteries!

Midnightstar76 · 11/11/2024 10:40

lol very very true @LemonDrizzle23

Webbb · 11/11/2024 10:51

Ha, yes, batteries!

I'm feeling motivated this morning, to have a good strong week. We are having a weekend away with family so can't be too good when there, so going to do my very best this week to set myself up the best I can.

Aim for this week is to drink water not coffee! I hate water.

LegoTherapy · 11/11/2024 12:10

I need to check in more often because I'm slacking and have gained a little. A pound maybe. I've not been keeping close watch. I've started HRT and have been ill too so all contributing plus an addiction to sweet and salty popcorn and lots of gingerbread over Halloween.

So after a positive first half of last week I went away for my work dinner and it all went downhill VERY quickly! Had a lovely meal, lots of wine and didn't hit my step count as we spent a few hours travelling both days. I was absolutely exhausted on Friday evening, then we had a takeaway and more wine!

Sat/Sun were slightly better calorie-wise, and I'm raring to go again today. Had a good clearout of our bedroom yesterday and its amazing how a clean and tidy space can change your mindset. I'm not going to beat myself up for indulging as the overnight work thing only happens once in a blue moon, i'm just going to get myself back on track.

Hoping to start C25K tonight (weather permitting), hoping my teen DD might want to join in with me.

TheRealHousewife · 11/11/2024 18:58

@champagneplanet A break from your usual healthy eating routine is not such a bad thing. Having enjoyed the culinary delights of a sociable weekend you can now apply your self with renewed vigour 😬👍

Webbb · 12/11/2024 09:38

@champagneplanet as the OP said, it's good to live your life sometimes and that means eating and drinking gorgeous things.

Webbb · 12/11/2024 09:39

Managed to have 71 calories left over yesterday, so I'm pleased with that. I don't want to go even one calorie over this week at all, until Sat and Sun when we've got family staying and extravagent meals planned!

LemonDrizzle23 · 12/11/2024 09:58

Spent some time yesterday filling in nutracheck for the week. Having one meal out this week on Saturday, but it will be Vietnamese and reasonably healthy.

Intentions for the week:

  • follow nutracheck
  • 10,000 steps every day
  • IF 10.30-18.30 daily
  • slow cooker chicken for lunch

Feeling vaguely pissed off about how many calories cake and crisps contain. I looked at some muffins in Tesco yesterday and they were almost 400cal per muffin 🙄 I didn't buy them!

champagneplanet · 12/11/2024 10:48

Thank you @TheRealHousewife and @Webbb I think in the past I've been guilty of making myself feel bad when I'm 'naughty' and I'm not doing it anymore, its a change of lifestyle I want not a quick fix. We can enjoy things that aren't so good for us as long as its in moderation.

Yesterday was a good start to the week, didn't manage C25K but did get to walk the dog twice. Completed all my rings, drank my water, was under my calorie goal and only had one cup of coffee - not bad for a Monday!

B: Greek yoghurt with chia seeds, flaxseed and a banana
L: Tomato soup and a toasted bagel thin
D: Ham & cheese crispbake with lots of lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber
S: Small bag of mini cookies, an apple, 2 mini chicken satay sticks

I wasn't hungry after dinner - I bulked out my meal with salad so I was full but not stuffed. DH offered me a wine and I said no thank you, so we walked the dog instead while DD was at her hobby.

beezlebubnicky · 12/11/2024 12:02

Bad day yesterday. Was doing well but my choir had a social event with lots of sweets and cake on the buffet, I'd eaten but couldn't resist hitting the buffet - ate like 900 cals in 30 mins. It was bloody delicious though! Am refusing to go into usual shame spiral about it, I've done well most other days. Back on it today and move on.

L: Nonstick fried egg in sandwich thin, chilli jam
D: Butternut squash and broccoli soup with crackers
S: Chopped apple and yoghurt, small portion of nuts, Options hot choc

Webbb · 12/11/2024 14:20

@beezlebubnicky well done for getting back on it today. That's all we can do- have a 'moment' and enjoy it then get back onto it the following meal.

@Webbb Thanks. Feeling really down today as well as I can't exercise or even go for a walks due to badly sprained ankle. But I won't make myself feel worse by overeating. I think tomorrow will be better.

How is it going for you today?
