Hello Members both Founders & New ❤️

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5177149-lose-it-october-opt-in-2024?reply=139067760 🍁LOSE IT! October 2024🍁

We are now in the 8 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

I will join if that's ok. I need to lose about 1 stone and I am struggling with motivation.

I usually do low carb and cut sugars but I do love bread sadly

Fellsbells · 01/11/2024 10:36

Thank you @TheRealHousewife 🤩

I’m in. Feeling positive and optimistic today. I’m 13lbs down so far this year. Another 5 would be perfect and achievable by Christmas.

I feel better, eat better and move more due to these threads and you lovely women so thank you for sharing your journeys.

Louri · 01/11/2024 11:30

Hi, I’d love to drop half a stone by Christmas. I think it’s doable? I’m 152lbs and am aiming for 145 by 21st December. I’m calorie counting and walking every day. We can do this!

HangryHandful · 01/11/2024 13:41

I’m a week in and not feeling quite as inspired despite being 6.8lbs down on the scales as of this morning but by some miracle still haven’t caved with the Halloween sweets and have eaten as planned.

I took measurements today to give myself another kick up the bum. They’re not great of course but have to start somewhere and future me will be happy to see the difference.

Taking any words of motivation though ahead of the weekend!

Hello everyone, thanks for the new thread!

I'm considerably bigger than everyone on here but joining in anyway. Today marks 2 months of calorie counting for a better future and I've lost 2stone 4lbs.

Now at 19.13 stone.

Just got back from holiday yesterday where I ate like a pig and I feel like crap so happy to getting back into my better habits.

Wow! Over 2 stone in 2 months is super good going.

glad you enjoyed your holiday :)

Im in! I'm overweight and decided last month that I have had enough of being overweight! Im joining this thread to hopefully see some healthy meal inspo! My DH will sure to be impressed when he rocks up home to a healthy meal...Not! 😂Im also taking part in a charity boxing match..I'm currently training for now. Its so out of my comfort zone but i am already seeing progress!

rainbow616 · 01/11/2024 14:46

I'm in! October was a bad month for me 😩 we had the half term week off this week and me and my daughter have been really poorly and now my son has a cough 😢 so dieting has gone out of the window. Hoping to get back into it next week. Hope everyone has a good weekend x

RedRobinGoesBobbing · 01/11/2024 17:02

Hi all, just marking my place

SW: 14st 3lb
CW 14st 1lb
TW 10st 3lb

I am hoping for at least a stone over the next 8 weeks.

beezlebubnicky · 01/11/2024 18:48

@Webbb 2st 4lbs is brill, I'm sure you can keep that up. I am guilty of saying 'fuck it' when I fall off the wagon, but the best thing is just to go back to being healthier the next day.

Had a bit of a wobble today when I went for a walk after work, got super dizzy and felt like I could hardly walk another step. I think I accidentally overestimated my lunch calories and they were a lot lower than I thought (portion of homemade curry) and I just hadn't eaten enough. So will def. be taking a snack with me on future walks, need fuel for exercise.

Had to get an emergency Crunchie and pack of crisps from corner shop to stave off fainty-ness, but will have soup for dinner so it evens out I think.

littlepurplerose · 01/11/2024 21:28

I have to make this month count. Day one been okay. Exclusively breastfeeding a new born so taking into account the extra cal requirements.

Todays food-

B- 1 toast with avocado, tomato and 2 eggs & oat cappuccino

L- yoghurt with blueberries, all bran and protein powder

S- 2 rice cakes with butter & marmite

S- 3 Brazil nuts

D- salmon fillet and veg

S - dry bran flakes and a sugar free biscuit with peanut butter

I reckon about 1850 cals.

Skyglimmer · 02/11/2024 07:01

WOW 0.5kg down. I was expecting a gain so I am really pleased with that. I have now lost 4.9kg since 1st September so almost half way to my goal weight.

LemonDrizzle23 · 02/11/2024 08:57

Well for all my half term concerns, I had a step on the scales this morning and am the same weight as the start of half term. So I'm quite pleased with that.

Have worked out that we are out for lunch with various people every Sunday in November. So will have to make half reasonable choices 😬 It's hard eating out as a Coeliac, as so often I have to focus on what's going to be the safest choice, rather than the healthiest choice! But all the places we are going have a reasonable GF menu, so there should be some room for making good choices!

Fellsbells · 02/11/2024 09:10

I weighed today and am 2lbs down. I think not eating bread this week is the key. Also meal planning and eating an actual meal instead of snacking when I’m hungry.

Margauxdes · 02/11/2024 09:23

58.7 this morning which means I haven't lost anything in the past two weeks. It's very demoralising especially when I've stuck to the diet. Im going to give it another week and if I still haven't lost anything, I might switch to the 5 2 diet

LegoTherapy · 02/11/2024 10:32

Yesterday was very poor on the food choices front. Must do better today. I might make some soup.

PatienceOfEngels · 02/11/2024 10:41

Yesterday didn't quite go to plan.

✅Yoga
❌Walk
❌No UPF snacks
✅No evening eating
✔Journalling (kind of! Journalled in morning but didn't reflect at the end of the day which I find really helpful)

Anyway, 50% is not bad!

Today:
Breakfast - boiled egg, rye toast w butter, coffee
Lunch? not sure yet (not a good sign!). DC made a rice dish at school tomorrow so might have some of that. Or an omelette with peppers.
Dinner - sausage casserole with broccoli and mashed potatoes.

Currently trying to do some work so I can relax a bit this afternoon and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Have been on it for an hour and a half already and only halfway.
Journalled this morning.
Will do yoga (30mins, Revolution day 2) when I'm done (or maybe earlier if my head is not working properly).
Have had a short cycle to take DC to hobby.
Walk later. Dry and autumnal here.

DH wanted to go out for dinner but I'm absolutely shattered (combo of stress, clock change adjustment and cycle) and really want a home cooked start to the month. I really need a weekend in to relax and catch up on sleep.

beezlebubnicky · 02/11/2024 10:52

Good morning! After almost a week, I seem to be down 3lb to 10st 12lb - although that could very well be water weight/normal fluctuations, so remains to be seen whether it's a true loss.

I'm going out for lunch today (Mexican) so will be keeping my other meals lower calorie to compensate.

B: Black coffee (I'm actually really getting into it! I have the Beanies flavoured instant coffees which have a hint of flavour without sweetness)
L: Tacos and a margarita
D: Leftover prawn and chickpea curry

worriedgal · 02/11/2024 11:08

Joining you guys as I need accountability.
Currently 12st 6 lb and want to be less by Christmas and especially February as dh and I are going on a holiday of a lifetime!
I plan on really sensible eating and moving more plus daily yoga and meditation.
I'm feeling so sluggish and tired and I know it's carrying extra weight but can't seem to keep going.

Turbulent1 · 02/11/2024 11:53

Halloween party food has proven that I can resist everything but temptation

Cloudberries123 · 02/11/2024 12:24

Checking back in! 8 weeks till Christmas eek🎄💪🏻

Soft launching my healthier eating habits so I don't get cold feet. Doing well with stopping eating at dinner.

Looking forward to next WoW.

GrannyGoesLowCarb · 02/11/2024 12:43

Looking to drop eight pounds by Christmas. I should be able to lose one pound a week, shouldn’t I?!

Relatively low-carb, around 80g daily.

16:8 10am-6pm.
Moving more, scrolling less.

Autumnorganising · 02/11/2024 16:33

Not a great start as I’ve finished off what was left of the Halloween sweets and drank rather too much wine last night 🙄

I last did 5:2, 10 years ago. The progress was slow, but I did lose 1.5 stone in 3 or 4 months. I’ve gone through the menopause since then and my shape has changed - a lot more fat around the tummy. I’m not sure how effective 5:2 will be this time around. May have to do 4:3 instead. My 500 cal days will be Monday and Wednesday and possibly Thursday.
I already do 2 exercise classes a week, but may have to up that as well.

@Autumnorganising Alas, I also went into the Halloween sweets and finished them off. We can do better tomorrow 😂.

✅No evening eating
✅Journalling
✅No evening scrolling (watching a series with DH - better than crappy films we've seen before)

A better day! Did snack on some cheese and some home baking (white chocolate and peanut butter blondies) but I will allow that 😂

Still have a horrible headache and slept horribly. Going to get out for a walk and some autumn sunshine, do yoga, get some work tasks done to ease my chaotic brain.

-pumpkin pancakes with greek yoghurt and honey
-omelette with peppers (yesterday went for a small baked potato with creamed spinach, butter and cheese)
-beef stew with rice

@Turbulent1 the story of my life! If it's in the house I will eat it.
