Hello Members both Founders & New ❤️

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5177149-lose-it-october-opt-in-2024?reply=139067760 🍁LOSE IT! October 2024🍁

We are now in the 8 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

@beezlebubnicky @LemonDrizzle23 thanks! And yes I totally agree the crap no longer tastes like it used to which rubs salt in the wound 😂. I also can tell the difference in how I feel when I’ve eaten crap and too much of it, in a way I didn’t used to. So it’s slightly baffling as to why this doesn’t add up to me now being easily able to stick to a diet of non-crap in sensible portions but there you go…..

LegoTherapy · 25/11/2024 07:19

55.75kg this morning. Here's to a good week for us all!

TheRealHousewife · 25/11/2024 16:15

Hi Everyone

I hope you are all ok and not succumbing to the plethora of viruses that are floating about 🤒

Feeling a bit better myself … but the virus is lingering. Really tired and eating batch bakes from the freezer. Think soups, curries and bolognaise. Not weighed food nor calorie countered. I’ve been eating more due to not being able to have migraine meds on empty stomach. I’m expecting a gain but not too concerned.

Going to catch up on the thread …

Anyone getting the Christmas feeling yet? 🎄🎄🎄

So sorry you’ve been unwell @TheRealHousewife I hope you feel properly better soon and get your energy back. It’s hard when there are so many bugs going round and it’s cold and dark. I’ve been struggling a bit, reaching for the chocolate hobnobs a few too many times this week, but mostly keeping on track. Sending good wishes to everyone.

LemonDrizzle23 · 25/11/2024 19:27

@LegoTherapy I like a decent chunky crisp dipped in hummus - I think that would have been much more satisfying. And yep, there was definitely a chemically taste to the chocolate. And it was reasonably good stuff from Waitrose too!

@OneDayIWillLearn Yep, doesn't taste as good. Doesn't make my insides feel good. And yet somehow I was still eating it. This weekend was the first time I said it out loud to DH though. He looked vaguely terrified - like I might somehow ban his haribo 😂

@TheRealHousewife I have started my Christmas shopping online! But I want to actually get to the shops and soak up the Christmas lights and atmosphere.

beezlebubnicky · 25/11/2024 21:33

Aw feel better @TheRealHousewife you prioritise those nourishing meals and getting better, always time to be back on track when a nasty virus hasn't laid you flat.

Gave into a massive carb craving at lunch but made up for it with a lower calorie dinner. Not convinced I'll have lost this week given the weekend's excesses, but we'll see.

Today's food:

B: Salad, cottage cheese and apple (weird but stuff needed using up)
L: Creamy pasta with peas and a little chorizo
D: Chilli with rice crackers
S: Babybel

Goodafternoonmillie · 26/11/2024 16:27

Hello can i join @ 4 weeks until the big day please?
my normal thought process tells me to not bother and start after Christmas but my weight is creeping up and up and up! I opened myfitnesspal this morning after such a long break it asked me to reassess mygoals - when i looked my original recorded start weight was exactly the same (as today) and that was from beginning of 2022! So that was a bit of a kick up the bum. Cannot believe i have been teetering around not making any progress for nearly 2 years.
aiming to navigate a tricky month without gaining a whole lot more and trying to make healthier choices. Hopefully lose a bit whilst still having a little of the christmas treats.

I weigh daily - 10 st 5.4lb

Today I have had
Breakfast: Green Smoothie
Lunch: Rice & Lentil Lunch bowl
Dinner: Pasta
1420 calories.

my scales tell me my metabolic age and today it added 6 years on 😣

OneDayIWillLearn · 27/11/2024 07:23

Wow today is 12 stone 6.7lbs

Not sure how I feel about that really…..it’s 2lbs up on 2 weeks ago when I last weighed and basically brings me back to what I was at the end of September (and 4lbs up from where I was at the end of October). So that’s not really what I wanted!

still, when I consider how much time I’ve been off plan this month that is totally fair and it’s a good wake up call that I can’t just eat whatever I want and expect to keep my progress.

OliveZebra · 27/11/2024 07:38

Starting weight - 69kg
week1 - 68.4kg
week 2 - 68.2kg
week 3 - 67.4kg
Week 4 - 67.8kg
week 5 - 67.2kg
week 6 - 67.1kg

happy with this weeks very tiny loss!

LemonDrizzle23 · 27/11/2024 07:48

Welcome @Goodafternoonmillie . Definitely time to make a difference between now and Christmas!

SW: 97.5
CW: 92.1
2nd goal: 88

Tiny loss of 0.1kg for me this week, but given the disappointing snacking and spending a week looking after poorly DS, I'll take it! I of course now have a sore throat 👌🏻

Have been keeping up with my slow cooker lunches, mostly given up mayo and my knee is holding up to some cycling which I'm enjoying. So a few good things that have contributed I think.

TheRealHousewife · 27/11/2024 09:56

Good Morning & Happy WOW … Some great results being posted 👏👏👏

I forgot to weigh this morning. I could be up a bit considering I’ve been eating a bit more but that said my waistbands feel the same so maybe not. Can’t weight now as had a gallon of tea and coffee 😬

Im still looking for my mo-jo. Totally wiped out to the point getting in the shower is more difficult than normal. Poor other half is still really suffering with a hacking cough but thankfully he has an GP appointment later so he might get antibiotics if it’s thought to be bacterial.

4 Weeks today to the Big Day 🎄😳😱 My home needs a full deep clean & I’ve an ironing pile as big as a small hippo. On the plus side I’ve completed my Christmas shopping but need to get started on the wrapping.

Eating wise I’m knuckling down over the next couple of weeks to create some wiggle room for the several days of Christmas Celebrations then it will be setting myself up (and a new thread) for a Reset & Renew commencing January 2025 🥳

Do members want a sparkly December LOSE IT! Thread or shall we carry this one through? I don’t mind either way ❤️

New thread for Sunday please 😊
Would you believe I've been struck down with yet another bug😩 ds and I are both on the sofa feeling sorry for ourselves.
I've not weighed this morning either but well done on the losses! I'm at the same can't be bothered to really do much about my weight. As long as I'm around 55kg I haven't got the energy to really take action. I need to find some energy for toning up. Ds asked why my arm is so jiggly when I was drying his hair. My upper arms do seem rather floppy. Getting older sucks but better than being dead.

TheRealHousewife · 27/11/2024 10:31

@LegoTherapy Happy to oblige x. Totally agree about better than being deaded 🤭

Another vote for a shiny Christmassy new thread @TheRealHousewife . Definitely ready to leave November behind me!

Sorry everyone is getting ill 🤒

champagneplanet · 27/11/2024 13:28

Wednesday again, don't the weeks fly over?

Starting weight - 12st
week1 - 11st 12lb
week 2 - 11st 12lb
week 3 - 11st 11lb

Had a weekend away so I'm happy with that. Hoping slow and steady will win the race!

IDareSay · 27/11/2024 13:39

Good afternoon Wowers

I'm still not doing as well as I know I can (when I really put my mind to it) but better down than up.

SW: 73.9kg (11st 9lbs) (beginning of August)
CW: 70.4kg (11st 1lbs) today, 27/11
GW: 69.0 kg (10st 12lbs) Christmas interim target
GW: 57kg (9st)

Onwards and downwards

beezlebubnicky · 27/11/2024 16:25

Well done WoWers.

I didn't weigh in today - last weekend wasn't the best and I had a tooth out yesterday morning so I'm still on a mushy diet of mashed potato, gnocchi, soup, yoghurt, etc. Just wanted all the carbs after that! Hopefully if I get back on counting properly I'll see either a maintain or a small loss next week.

TheRealHousewife · 27/11/2024 16:33

Hi @LemonDrizzle23 👍 It will be my pleasure 🥰

@IDareSay Youll get there 👍 I am the worlds slowest loser and I’ve pleased I stayed the course x

@beezlebubnicky Sorry to read about your tooth. I hope it doesn’t hurt whilst your gum is healing !

Goodafternoonmillie · 27/11/2024 17:52

I will join in with the new thread if thats ok please 😬

well done to all the losers
hope everyone feels better soon 🙏🏻

My calories came in @ 1611 today so a bit higher than my target, I had to grab lunch on the go which has pushed it up.
However I did do 30 mins of cardio this morning and helped move 4 sofas at work so that was my strength training 🤣

PatienceOfEngels · 27/11/2024 18:20

LemonDrizzle23 · 27/11/2024 11:10

Another vote for a shiny Christmassy new thread @TheRealHousewife . Definitely ready to leave November behind me!

Sorry everyone is getting ill 🤒

This basically sums up my feelings about November @LemonDrizzle23 ! I haven't lost any weight, have been permanently ill (and just had a few days off for a horrible cold), and it feels like it's been constantly raining!

Ready to move on!

Fellsbells · 28/11/2024 08:46

Wow- stayed the same. I’ve maintained for a month now which is reasonable as I’m 12lbs down from the spring.

Unless losing weight is my main focus I struggle to make it happen. Eating on auto pilot happens too easily. Eating in a calorie deficit takes time and so much effort.

LegoTherapy · 28/11/2024 09:04

54.95kg this morning. I've lost 13.65kg in total since starting out which is just over 30 pounds.
@Fellsbells it does take a lot of effort and it gets boring I find, which is why I gave up bothering too much. I tend to stay around the same weight now and gain a kilo or two if I'm eating too much rubbish then I cut back again and it soon drops off. Hopefully you'll get to the point where you don't need to be as vigilant.

LemonDrizzle23 · 28/11/2024 15:57

Sounds like we have had a similar November @PatienceOfEngels !

My cold is now full on, so I'm having a bit of a sulk. I'm hopeful that it will be over by the weekend so I can greet December graciously, as we have so many nice things planned.

Goodafternoonmillie · 28/11/2024 19:27

Todays weigh in 10 st 4.4, did a 30 minute dumbbell workout this morning and food was:

breakfast: green smoothie
lunch: chicken soup + 1 slice sourdough
dinner : chicken, rice + veg

total calories 1151 today. Having a lower calorie day as I am out on Saturday for dinner and so kind of trying to ‘bank’ some wiggle room for that. I had a look @ the set menu and and its 1530 calories for my meal 😳 (main + dessert)

Skyglimmer · 29/11/2024 06:16

Only a 0.3 loss the past two weeks but still going down 😊 I have been eating a bit more off plan as bren really struggling now it's colder.

SW - 62.7kg (since 1st September)
CW - 56.4
GW - 50
