Hello Members both Founders & New ❤️

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5177149-lose-it-october-opt-in-2024?reply=139067760 🍁LOSE IT! October 2024🍁

We are now in the 8 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

WOW week 2 - stayed the same, not bad considering the hormonal bloat/bad skin/tiredness is real this week so I may have sneaked a few more choccy biscuits in with my cuppas than I actually needed!

beezlebubnicky · 20/11/2024 13:03

Feel better soon @TheRealHousewife

A very cold WoW today, I'm WFH and bundled up in a snuddie. 2lb loss despite my overindulgence at the weekend, wasn't expecting that! Yesterday was a good food day and determined to keep going ahead of the festive season.

SW: 11st 3lb
CW: 10st 8lb
GW: 9st

I know I'm meant to do my weight in kg but couldn't be arsed to convert!

LemonDrizzle23 · 21/11/2024 11:02

Very chilly here this morning - makes me crave carbs! Couldn't really be arsed, but the slow cooker is on. I will have a healthy lunch ready in a few hours and will feel better about life. Went to Smyths to pick up some toys I'd ordered and one of them is huge 🫣 Whoops.

DS has a horrid cough, and is loaded with puffer. Hoping he makes it through the school day!

Sorry you're still under the weather @TheRealHousewife there are some nasty germs going around at the moment!

Sparxdislike · 21/11/2024 17:59

Does everyone weigh in the morning or evening? I drink a lot and find my weight really varies through the day so going to weigh in the morning. I weighed after having my pint of tea last week 😅 Tomorrow will show if that made a difference to the scales I guess

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/11/2024 19:34

Hi everyone, I don’t think I’ve been on since the start of the month. I’ve been trying to be good, but too many weekend blowouts going on. I haven’t put any weight on though, and I’m feeling brave enough to start exercising gently again after pain in my dodgy hip.

sorry to hear you’re not feeling well @TheRealHousewife

Today’s menu:

B - boiled egg with toast
L - tomato & sweet potatoes soup, some chicken for protein, pear
D - freezer tea tonight, had some leftover orzo pasta with chicken.

bit low in my 5 a day but ok on the calories!

Bikechic · 21/11/2024 19:47

Hi, I've been away from these threads for a while and weight creeping back up. This post is part of me trying to turn things around. Thank you @TheRealHousewife for keeping going with this. I haven't weighed myself yet. Will do so in the morning.

LemonDrizzle23 · 21/11/2024 19:52

@Sparxdislike oh yes, first thing in the morning, post-wee. Before morning tea. Naked in the summer, but it requires at least a vest top and pants in the winter as it's too cold 😂

Nearly at the end of a horrid week, and have just had a huge takeaway burger, which was very tasty, but wildly calorific. The salmon fillets in the fridge are staring at me forlornly.

DS temp nearing 39C, so I don't think there will be school tomorrow.

beezlebubnicky · 21/11/2024 20:06

@Sparxdislike Always weigh myself first thing in the morning in the buff 😁 give yourself the best chance!

Finding it challenging to stick to my allotted calories when it's so cold 🥶 but managing.

B - Chipolata and egg flatbread with chilli jam (love the folded flatbreads, around 100cal from supermarkets)
L - Butternut squash and cauliflower soup with chilli oil
D: Crispy potato salad, spicy chicken burger
S: Jaffa cake bar, Skyr raspberry yoghurt with dark choc chips & chopped apple

Sparxdislike · 21/11/2024 20:29

Hope everyone is better soon.

The cold weather certainly does make things more difficult, I have had a bit more milk with extra cups of tea but having skimmed. Avoided any biscuit dunking though :)

Fellsbells · 21/11/2024 21:14

Weight the same as last week.

highs and lows as per usual. The calorie counting over the summer has made me more aware of not overeating. My portion control and snacking habits are better because of it. Unfortunately there have been some chocolate, pastry and icecream mistakes made.

Sparxdislike · 22/11/2024 07:23

1lb down. I'll take it.

Bikechic · 22/11/2024 08:29

Weight this morning is 11st 4lb which is a slow gain of 11lb since I was doing well last feb. Starting again today.

PatienceOfEngels · 22/11/2024 09:21

Been a tricky week again. very cold, dark, snowy the last few days. Viruses coming and going here - seems like there's always someone with a cold/blocked nose/headache. Struggling not to eat in the evening.

DH out tonight for dinner so kids and I are having takeaway but we've picked sushi (though I will follow it with some homemade apple crumble and custard!).

Weight has been hovering at 73kg for the last few weeks. Have been moving much less so determined to get some yoga in today and wake this weekend. Will be able to get back into my walking routine after the school run next week.

LegoTherapy · 22/11/2024 09:41

Snow day here so I'm finally going to get round to making that soup! I really need to clear out the fridge too. I think something died in there.

QuirkyRaven · 22/11/2024 18:38

Forgot to weigh in this week. 70kg. Slow and steady.

Well done everyone

beezlebubnicky · 22/11/2024 20:16

Nice work everyone. I'm also finding it hard sticking to plan in this cold weather - I'm so much hungrier I try and eat plenty of protein but it's hard sometimes to get loads in.

Had bloods done yesterday and my HBA1C is 41mmol, my family are really prone to diabetes and that's almost tipping into pre-diabetic range 😱. So I hope losing weight will be enough to bring the number down. I couldn't bear to give up my carbs and the small amount of sweets treats I have per day.

Today I ate:

B: Scrambled egg, sauteed tomatoes, 2 chipolatas, an apple
L: Black bean and veg salad with pomegranate dressing
D: Steak, air fried spicy potatoes, stir fried veg
S: Benefit jaffa bar, biscoff biccie and tea

Fellsbells · 22/11/2024 20:33

Mostly good day here, I’ve done 16k steps.

L-chicken and green bean pesto. Greek yoghurt and blueberries, chia and flax.
D- bolognaise & penne pasta. I made a chocolate cake and had two big pieces though so probably broke even with calories.

I was about to start snacking so I brushed my teeth and got into bed.

LemonDrizzle23 · 23/11/2024 14:57

Well, weekend plans have been cancelled due to germy DS. I suppose better to get it out of the way now than during busy December! That's how germs work right 🤔

We're doing a lot of comfort food and absolutely zero movement currently. The weather is rubbish. Both local Christmas fayres this weekend have been cancelled because of the wind.

DH came back from the shops with ingredients for steak sandwiches - perfect - plus two packs of minced pies and a share bar of chocolate 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm going to have to hide them in the cupboard and pretend they're not there.

TheRealHousewife · 23/11/2024 17:50

Hi Everyone

Im so so. Not as unwell as I was but as soon as I go outside I start coughing again and I’ve got this overwhelming tiredness. Hopefully tomorrow will see some improvement.

I hope you’re all keeping warm and dry in this most wintery of winter weather ❄️ ☔️ 💨❤️

Unbelievable restraint from me today, I had a salad at pizza express.

I did have wine and a curry tonight, but that was unavoidable. I was 1lb down today as well which was a nice surprise.

LegoTherapy · 24/11/2024 11:07

55.75kg this morning so I've finally got down to the 55 range again.
Time to catch up.

OneDayIWillLearn · 24/11/2024 11:13

This is another, ‘had a bad week, need to get myself back on track’ post but I am starting to feel like the girl who cried wolf!!

I was at a conference Tues-Thurs and had a very early flight on Tuesday morning and a late flight that was very delayed coming back on Thursday so very little sleep. And then obviously conference food and drink. It was a great experience but I was a physical wreck on Friday and ate through the tiredness yesterday too. I got a better nights sleep last night at least.

We now have things on every weekend up to Christmas so I doubt I’m realistically going to be able to loose any serious amount, the real achievement would be to avoid the ‘f* it’ mentality and very real risk I then get to the other side of Christmas back to where I started, a stone up.

beezlebubnicky · 24/11/2024 17:23

Wow @Fellsbells admirable restraint shown!

Know how you feel @OneDayIWillLearn I haven't been the best either this week. For festive period I think all you can do is try and eat really sensibly on days where you don't have anything on, that will at least help a bit.

I always seem to find it really hard to be sensible when I go out for the day, it tends to go up the wall. Had a day out with a friend Saturday and ate over 3000 calories including a Burger King. Bollocks 😂. I wasn't even drinking!

Have counted for today though and have enough calories left for a full bag of microwave popcorn and 2x mini Haribo packs for Wicked at the cinema tonight.

B: Got up late so black coffee
L: Leftover black bean/cabbage salad, avocado on seeded toast
D: Chilli with a few rice crackers
S: Jaffa bar, popcorn and mini Haribo

LemonDrizzle23 · 24/11/2024 20:44

I feel your pain @OneDayIWillLearn . Plan this week was to have a healthy week with one meal out. However:

Mum ill.
DS ill.
Work stresses.
Party planning stresses.
Trapped in the house yesterday with ill DS.
Today DH sick as a dog after eating something he knows makes him ill 😠

So have had a junky weekend.

And to top it all off, none of the junk has been satisfying. I thought the people that used to say junk food tastes gross to them were just smug and full of shit. But the more I eat decent food, the more chocolate and crisps etc. are disappointing me.

I feel very cross and prickly and not sure how to snap myself out of it.

LegoTherapy · 24/11/2024 20:51

@LemonDrizzle23 that sounds tough. I hope everybody gets better soon! I've definitely found that junk tastes not as good as it used to after eating better. Warburtons sliced rolls is one that really stuck out. I love a Quorn quarter pounder although it's months since I had one. We always had them on Warburtons white sliced rolls. I was amazed how chemical and sweet it tasted. I buy Jason's rolls now but I'm sad about the much cheaper Warburtons ones tasting nasty. I don't buy Quorn anymore because it's ultra processed but if I fancied one I'd make an exception once in a blue moon.
Crisps are definitely not as nice. I like Tyrell's ridge cut ones especially used to scoop red pepper hummus. Chocolate I crave but I don't find it as nice at all. Sad times.
