Following on from Aprils Thread

Spring definitely did not arrive in April. Today it’s lovely sunshine here (I hope it is were you are!) and hopefully more is on the way in May; so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, a fresh new start & fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now maintaining around 8st 12lb; although I’d like to see another half stone off 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Good Morning

Thank you for the well wishes ❤️

@GameOfJones@FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain @ChickenChipsandBeans @WeirdPookah Excellent walks! Sorry to read about you eye sight worries Pookah.

@janeljl Well done! If you lost 2.25lbs month on month it soon adds up to significant loss 👍I am speaking from experience as I’m a very slow loser; im now down over 50lbs. Consistency is key and don’t let a couple of biscuits/cakes/drinks turn into an avalanche 😬

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Great result! 👏

Menu
Meal 1 - Vegetable Soup. GF roll. Walnuts.
Meal 2 - Spag Bol and buttered cabbage. Greek yoghurt.
Water, black coffee and tea.

Keep being mindful ladies and don’t sweat the small stuff ❤️

Doing ok today, despite having the children at home as the council sees fit to close a 700 pupil primary school for local police commissioner elections. Rage inducing.

Been for a walk, got things we need for a long walk and picnic on Saturday. Dinner is prepped, with extra roast vegetables for tomorrow.

B: kidney bean burrito
L: scrambled eggs, 1 slice toast, miso mushrooms, hash browns
D: roast vegetables, salmon

janeljl · 02/05/2024 14:24

Thank you @TheRealHousewife I'm happy to be a slow loser! It's keeping it off that I struggle with...

@WeirdPookah that's really annoying! Although I admit when I was teaching, I always felt really jealous of a nearby school that was used as a polling station 😂

MrsPepperpotty · 02/05/2024 14:29

Thanks @TheRealHousewife!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 02/05/2024 19:26

Today’s roundup for me:

B - slice of seeded toast and scrambled egg
L - home made lentil soup, apple, chicken pieces, packet of quavers
D - chilli and rice

exercise - body combat class

snacks - none so far!

RadDarwazeh · 02/05/2024 21:18

Hi everyone

The breakfast lunch dinner is great, thanks for all the ideas on options!

My small win today was having veg accompanying Thai curry instead of spring rolls. And resisting chocolate fingers when shopping (they are my vice. I could have the whole packet in one sitting)

GameOfJones · 02/05/2024 21:21

Just here to post my meals to keep accountable.

B - yoghurt and brazil nuts

L - porridge and chopped apple

D - lentil daal, rice and broccoli

TeenLifeMum · 02/05/2024 22:59

Hi everyone! I can’t remember if I posted on the April one but I’m here for May with a very positive attitude. Today for lunch I had a massive salad/veg bowl with quinoa from M&S and it was so delicious. I feel like I’m back to where I was about 5 years ago when I loved fresh veggies etc but have spent the last 2 years eating bread and chocolate and other cereal and my brain forgot I love the flavours in veg and fruit.

sw - 12st 9
cw - 11st 12
gw - 10st 3 (anything under 11st will be great)

this next two months is so stressful for many reasons so I know I need to keep control and not lose sight of the long term plan. Good luck everyone! May is like the big push to summer months… we’ve got this!

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 03/05/2024 03:59

ahhh a good day and now being 8pm i'm fine till tomorrow.
better food choices, better activity choices and a decent plan in place for tomorrow.

rainbow616 · 03/05/2024 06:48

Morning everyone, and happy Friday!
I'm a bit gutted- I've stayed the same for 2 weeks now, yet I've been eating better and walking more so not sure what's going on. It's 2 weeks today until I go away for the weekend and I wanted to be down to 12st 7 but I'm just stuck on 12st 11 😩 Hope everyone else is doing well 😊 xx

Hoolahoophop · 03/05/2024 10:05

Its so annoying when you plateau @rainbow616 but hang in there and wait for the whoosh.

I am going to have a bad day today. Home made pizza for dinner and its pretty high calorie. But oh so worth it. Three days in the preparation for my sourdough base!

WeirdPookah · 03/05/2024 10:47

Weighed in today, lost 1lb this week.

Total down 64.6 lbs

Been shopping, having a slower day today as we are going on a really long walk tomorrow.

B: yogurt, tinned pineapple, brazil nuts
L: asparagus, the cutest tiny potatoes, fried eggs
D: broccoli, hummus, roast vegetables (family has pasta)

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 03/05/2024 15:18

That’s annoying @rainbow616 - not sure if your calorie counting, but is there potential to reduce portion sizes?

just a quick check in, I’ve been a bit snacky today, which is annoying because we’re off to friends at the weekend who will ply us with booze and cheese… But, I did do a strength class earlier that had a bit of cardio worked in and there’s a big walk planned for tomorrow so hopefully that will help balance things out!

Very annoying! Yeah, I'm going to try and cut down next week. Hopefully that does the trick! Enjoy the cheese and booze 😍

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 03/05/2024 23:23

so far so good, it's 2:30pm here but between now and 5 i tend to struggle.
a combination of bored and the smell of supper cooking.
not much activity today but doing well on a few home tasks.
i'm going to try and break away from a tradition with dh of coffee and cheese at 3:30. i'm not a coffee fan but with enough honey and milk it's palatable.
the plan is to substitute the coffee/cheese for a protein shake (170 calories vs 270).

PatienceOfEngels · 04/05/2024 09:01

Fell off April's thread! Currently on holiday in the UK so have had too much pizza, cheese, and meals out. Still getting lots of water in and have done lots of walking but will be glad to get back to my routine when we're home next week.

Have been doing lots of things I love - spending time with family, reading, theatre, shopping for books, walks in the country and by the sea. All helping me feel more relaxed and make better choices.

Fish and Chips for dinner tonight.
Probably barbecue tomorrow.

Will weigh in when I'm home but was 71kg before we left for holiday.

TeenLifeMum · 04/05/2024 11:17

Starting the weekend well… just need to keep going even when things get stressful. Need to fill in a job application tomorrow 😩

TeenLifeMum · 04/05/2024 12:32

Now I’m sat with dd1 in a cafe and she’s eating brownie and a deluxe hot chocolate… I sniffed it 😂

henlake7 · 04/05/2024 12:48

Im hoping for a better May as well (April wasnt the best for weight loss). Im 2Ibs from my initial target of 10st, which I may try to go lower but it depends if the over 50 perimeno version of me can manage it!
I usually lose weight by plateauing for a while then jumping down all at once but lately the plateaus are getting longer and the jumps down smaller!
Also am constantly worrying lately that I eat too much (I feel like I eat twice as much as most other 'diety' people). But Ive lost nearly 7st now so dont want to rock the boat too much....Im just a big eater!

LemonDrizzle23 · 04/05/2024 13:18

I hope everyone is enjoying a good start to the weekend!

My afternoon workout has been somewhat scuppered by a children's club cancellation at the gym. DS is now burning some energy in soft play and I am sat on my backside instead 🤦🏼‍♀️ I haven't indulged in the cafe though! Think we will take the opportunity to head outside in a bit for some sunshine instead.

Lots of eating out yesterday, but sensible today and I'm feeling some crunchy corn on the cob, or a Greek salad with a bbq tonight...

Flowerchild547 · 04/05/2024 16:42

3 runs done for C25K so week 1 is done!
I’ve invested in good workout clothes and trainers and my plan is to finish the 9 week course with the aim of doing some sort of park run.

Food wise, doing average. Went to a food festival today where I tried not to go over board. Have to not sabotage the rest of bank holiday!

Must also remember to drink more water.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 04/05/2024 22:30

another day that is coming along well. a good fast and a good break fast choice.
my conundrum is my 2:30 (any minute now) protein shake.
texture and flavor are fine but the consistency is too watery...i'm afraid to use ice cubes in my tiny blender...i could use a massive vitamix but surely 1/3 of the shake would be left in the blender?? i'll try it and report back.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 05/05/2024 08:26

Morning all. My friends have indeed plied me with cheese and booze this weekend, so I’m around 900 calories over for the week. But, I did make some good choices - turned down a second scoop of ice cream, picked the smallest piece of cake on offer, that kind of thing. And my watch tells me I used around active calories on a hill walk yesterday.

well done on the C25K. I’ve tried it a few times and would love the achievement of completing it, but I just can’t develop a love of running!

That’s an amazing loss @henlake7 I I guess when you’ve got less to lose, you don’t get the big drops! If you think you have too much food, it might me trickier to maintain once you reach your goal weight, is it worth making some slow and steady changes to reduce your portion sizes?
