A big welcome to anyone who wants to join us on bigger weight loss journeys.

We are all following our own methods, whatever works for each of us and no judgment for anyone who falls off the wagon for a bit either. We've all been there and know we're on a marathon and not a sprint.

Part three, let's go!

I survived the meal and just ordered butternut squash lasagne. It was really lovely with salad.

ButtermilkBeetroot · 26/06/2024 22:25

Can I join please? A pretty standard story here, been overweight my whole life, addicted to food/sugar in particular. I lost 3 stone between babies but put it all back on with my second pregnancy, I'm done having babies now and have the headspace to tackle my weight. Told myself for a few years now that if I get to age 35 without losing a significant amount, I need to start looking at surgery. My 35th birthday is now on the horizon (March) and I don't want to let myself down, but I struggle to stay motivated.

I've been at it for a month now, calorie counting and intermittent fasting.

SW: 19st 0.2lb
CW: 18st 8lb
Mini goal: 17st
Ultimate goal: 10st

DuckWithOneWing · 27/06/2024 20:02

@Sunshineandrainbow beeps don't really mean anything. They can just be things like these machine has a low battery, or it's got a good/bad signal so hopefully it will be the news you're hoping for!

Welcome @ButtermilkBeetroot it'll be the best birthday present ever to be at your target weight!

My knee isn't any better, and now I'm getting pains into my hip. I saw the doctor yesterday and have been referred for a scan, physio and blood tests. I haven't heard about the scan yet but have the other bits booked for Monday.

Echoes89 · 28/06/2024 11:27

Annoyingly took my foot off the pedal with my diet and checking my weight regularly. So last year I got down as low as 12st 3lbs and generally kept around 12st 8lbs for a while. Back up to 13st 11.25lbs beginning of this week. So frustrating but ultimately my own fault. Trying to get down to around the 12st 8lb mark by mid September for my holiday so 11 weeks to go, I have shifted a couple of lbs this week so down to 13st 8.25lbs this morning. So 14.25lbs to lose in 11 weeks, so need to keep a consistent loss of 1.5lbs a week ideally. Head back in the game, weighing each morning, meal planning and tracking

Sw- 17st 3lbs
CW - 13st 8.25lbs
GW - 10st 6lbs
Mini gw- 12st 8lbs by September

Welcome back @Echoes89

Echoes89 · 28/06/2024 15:54

@DuckWithOneWing thank you 😊 I hope your knee starts feeling better soon. Very impressed with your levels of exercise. I always think about increasing exercise but never seem to make the effort to get off my backside haha

DuckWithOneWing · 29/06/2024 11:11

@Echoes89 it's really strange. A few weeks ago I didn't exercise much at all, then I started going running. And now I really really miss going three times a week! I don't know what to with all my free time. I've run 27 miles in total this month, which isn't quite the 35 I was aiming for but it's still good.

Sunshineandrainbow · 29/06/2024 11:39

Hello @Echoes89@Echoes89, that weight will soon come off I can hear how determined you are.

So I have gallstones and have been referred to a surgeon, no idea how long the wait is but will suck it up the best I can.

Only had one attack this week so fingers crossed it doesn't get worse. Hate the thought of having to go into hospital even for a day.

I have been wondering how you are doing @Sammysees

iwentjasonwaterfalls · 29/06/2024 13:20

Hello, hope I am ok to join 😊 reached my absolute heaviest this year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour last year and losing any motivation whatsoever to look after myself. Finally had a kick up the arse to do better and get myself healthy, so here we go!

SW: 298 (11th June)
CW: 291 (29th June)
GW: 150

Mini Goal: 279 by August 31st (this will see me in the teens stones wise 😅)

I am doing calorie deficit using the NHS app and Fitbit, and trying to build up my steps (this is tricky because of fatigue and medication side effects, but doing my best!).

DuckWithOneWing · 30/06/2024 12:59

Welcome @iwentjasonwaterfalls you've got off to a great start so far!

DuckWithOneWing · 01/07/2024 20:53

I went for a torture session today, also known as physio. I've got a problem with my IT Band, but the physio is hopeful we can sort it out in a few sessions. I had several treatments tonight, including tens machine with suction cups and a really painful massage. The best bit is that I am allowed to go running again!

How is everyone doing this week?

I went to Zumba on Tuesday and went for a run yesterday. My knee isn't fully better but definitely hurts a lot less. And this morning my sneaky mid week weigh in was positive so everything seems to be going much better.

Echoes89 · 05/07/2024 13:50

@DuckWithOneWing glad your knee seems to be on the mend
I'm down 1.25lbs since last Friday, been sticking to 1300-1400 calories except for Sunday roast last weekend when I went out to eat. Fingers crossed I keep losing at least 1lb a week until holiday

Sw-17st 3lbs

Mini gw- 12st 8lbs by september

DuckWithOneWing · 05/07/2024 21:08

Well done @Echoes89! 1.25lbs is great. Your goal of losing a stone by September is definitely achievable at that rate.

@iwentjasonwaterfalls how are things for you?

PreesHeath · 06/07/2024 09:05

I'm dipping in and out, but I’m not being consistent. I’m not weighing myself. Going to cycle my son to a club this morning, and maybe fit in a gym trip around chores. The only way to do it ( for me) is to be consistent, so that is what I will be working on. Had a bad food day yesterday, but feel able to put it behind me and move on. Feeling quite upbeat that I can do this from today, at least for a while!

Sunshineandrainbow · 07/07/2024 08:52

Wow that sounds painful @DuckWithOneWing@DuckWithOneWing, hopefully the pain was worth it and great you can run again.

Good work @Echoes89 you have always been so determined and it pays off.

I think I have lost 2lb this week.
Having to be very careful due to gallbladder issues.

DuckWithOneWing · 11/07/2024 22:41

@PreesHeath they often say that consistency is key! Cycling is good exercise but not one that I do. My partner enjoys it (but he does have an ebike which is cheating).

@Sunshineandrainbow well done on your 2lbs loss! How is your gallbladder now? Hopefully your wait for the surgeon isn't too long.

Yesterday was a strange day. I caught sight of myself in a mirror (in t k maxx) unexpectedly and realised I still look fat. Then later in the evening I put on a t shirt that used to be quite tight but it was so huge it was like a dress! Then I went for a long run yesterday. Today I decided to go to Pilates - I started going last year but stopped just over a year ago. By the end of the class my arms felt like spaghetti and I had forgotten how hard it is! I'm going again on Monday with my mother in law.

Echoes89 · 12/07/2024 09:39

@DuckWithOneWing I think it's hard when you've lost some weight, I look at myself and think I barely look different from when I started and yet I know some clothes I wore before the weight loss are way too big now and were tight before, so I must look different but I can't see it at all
Really trying to stick to my calorie limit at the moment, going out for lunch Saturday and drinks and then going somewhere Sunday where we'll need to eat out. Feel like I'm going to need to be very careful with my menu selections to not pile on the weight this weekend

Hi all!
Long time lurker!
Been watching your help and support to each other and I could really do with some of that!
I have around 10st to lose but want to do it in stages.
Will be doing old fashioned calorie counting and intermittent fasting (from 9pm-11am).

Got a holiday in November so that's my first goal.

Starting weight: 311lbs
Mini goal 28th Nov: 275lbs
End goal: who knows!!

Welcome @Izzydogmum great idea to break it down.
How is your week going?

PreesHeath · 18/07/2024 08:27

Welcome @Izzydogmum and good luck! hi @Sunshineandrainbow , hope all is well with you.

It's all going to pot for me. Never know whether to pop in and confess for accountability, or whether that brings everyone else down. I need to give my head a wobble as they say.

ButtermilkBeetroot · 18/07/2024 09:14

@PreesHeath certainly helps me to know I'm not the only one who struggles. I took a week off weighing everyday at risk of falling off the wagon but a week later it has worked. I'm back on track and remotivated, first half stone off, many more to go.

Sunshineandrainbow · 18/07/2024 10:11

We are all in this together @PreesHeath good and bad. Sometimes it helps to write things down and draw a line under it, and people can offer advice.
What's your plan for today?

PreesHeath · 18/07/2024 10:22

What's your plan for today?

Unfortunately I don't have one really. Early night, 5000 steps and some fresh air, no alcohol, up at 7am tomorrow, no eating between meals. Meals probably won't be on plan..... So far I have had one slice of toast with butter and marmite, and one ryvita with butter and honey, black tea and black coffee. Will probably have a shop bought sandwich and piece of fruit for lunch as I have to go into work later on, and I have a mental block around food prep at the moment. Nothing disastrous, but there have been plenty of disastrous days recently if I am honest 😟 Will try to pick up a calorie controlled ready meal for dinner, and maybe an ice lolly for pudding. This is damage limitation rather than doing what I need to do though.

Izzydogmum · 18/07/2024 14:19

@Sunshineandrainbow going well so far thank you!
having apple for afternoon snack and prepped all my dinners for the week and sticking to them, even when my mum popped round and mentioned getting fish and chips!
IF going ok too, haven’t broken the fast early yet!

hope you are getting on ok and enjoying the sun finally arriving for a day or two!
