A big welcome to anyone who wants to join us on bigger weight loss journeys.

We are all following our own methods, whatever works for each of us and no judgment for anyone who falls off the wagon for a bit either. We've all been there and know we're on a marathon and not a sprint.

Part three, let's go!

OP posts:
Seven7seven · 08/08/2024 12:49

Hi all, it's been a while since I last weighed in.
Sw 17st
Cw 15st 4.1lb
Gw 10st
Loss 1st 9.3lb
MG 14st by November.
It's coming off steadily. Can't see a difference as yet in the mirror or my clothes but I am hoping to soon.

Sammysees · 09/08/2024 20:27

Wow @DuckWithOneWing !!! What an absolute amazing achievement. You must be ecstatic. Well bloody done 💪🏼

Sunshineandrainbow · 10/08/2024 09:52

Wow @DuckWithOneWing thats incredible. You must feel amazing.

@Seven7seven your weight loss is fab, you must feel great.

I have had a good week. Discovered crispy kale in the airfryer which was lush.

I have weighed today and I am 15.13, feels good to not see 16 on the scales. I hope I never see it again.

Goal 13 stone which still feels a long way to go!

DuckWithOneWing · 12/08/2024 13:28

Thanks @Sammysees I am thrilled!

@Sunshineandrainbow thanks! You're weight loss is good too. Hopefully we both never see 16 ever again!

Welcome back @Seven7seven

DuckWithOneWing · 14/08/2024 22:23

I've just got back from a 10k run. Have I told you all I've decided to do a half marathon to raise money for vulture conservation? My training is going well so far as I'm nearly halfway there!

@Sunshineandrainbow have you tried roasted cauliflower? I'm sure you could make it in an air fryer but I don't have one (they're usually not teflon free and we have birds) so I just make it in the oven. It's really good!

Sammysees · 19/08/2024 07:40

You are all doing so well. I am proud of you all 😊

SW - 21st 1lb
CW - 18st 6lbs
37lb loss in 22 weeks.

The loss is slower than I would like but nevertheless I am losing. So I am proud of myself too 💪🏼

DuckWithOneWing · 20/08/2024 13:19

You're doing great @Sammysees! You should be proud of yourself.

I'm now at the lowest weight I've been in at least 12 years. I'm under 14 stone! In 2019 I got down to 14st 0.5lbs in 2019 before gaining again. I can't believe I've done it. I'm now hoping to be at 12 stone by the end of the year.

Sammysees · 21/08/2024 07:57

And I have no doubt you will get there @DuckWithOneWing. You must feel amazing and I hope one day I will get there too. Seeing 13 something on the scales is a dream I aspire too and you have done it!! An amazing achievement!

Pipadeepop · 24/08/2024 11:27

Hi, Can I join please. 10 years ago after having children I was 10 stone. Now I’m 19. Pretty much lost a stone and put on 2 every year since. Really need to lose and keep losing this time. So would love to join to help keep the momentum going, have some accountability and make online friends with others on the same journey.

Sunshineandrainbow · 24/08/2024 11:45

@DuckWithOneWing I love cauliflower so will def try it in the air fryer, although get so disappointed with how small cauliflower seems to be in the shops now days. A trip to the market might be needed.

Welcome @Pipadeepop , this is a safe space and we all know how your feeling. What's your plan to help you achieve this?

I am still on track, although not weighing today, I just feel happier weighing less often and not being a slave to the scales.

Pouring here today and we are going to watch football, weather looks better for the rest of the weekend though.

Pipadeepop · 24/08/2024 13:26

Thanks for the welcome sunshine and rainbows. I’m planning on cooking a big pot of food today to
portion up and eat during the week - I cook 3 different meals each day as it is to cater for my families needs, so if I don’t have to think about me that will help and stop me settling for a high calorie meal I’m cooking for someone else. I’ve signed up to my fitness pal so I can log everything, and keep an eye on protein.
I’m going to aim to eat in an 8 hour window.
My main aim is to keep it sustainable, to have one meal a week where I don’t worry - we have a family get together once a week which I don’t want to make awkward.
I also need to get into the mindset that this needs to be forever and not just abandon it when I get disheartened or distracted.
I already exercise a lot, so just need to keep that up and, probably most importantly, drink less wine!

What have you found works for you?
All tips of success very welcome!

Sunshineandrainbow · 24/08/2024 13:43

Week days at work I don't eat till about 2pm. I then have crackers with cheese spread and cucumber then maybe some grapes and yogurt.

I have a packet of crisps as soon as I get home from work, I know not great but better than the family bags I was scoffing regularly.

I don't mind having same thing every night so have chilli, Spag bol etc. Or some protein with lots of veg. Sometimes a yummy jacket potato and sometimes just beans on toast with grated cheese.

For me snacking in the evenings was a massive problem so I need to have a good filling dinner to keep me on track.

I normally tell myself I can eat what I want on a Saturday, but when it comes to it I normally don't want to and stay on track. I haven't eaten yet today.

It is just me and dd at home so probably easier as I don't have to feed a bigger family.

Sammysees · 26/08/2024 09:27

Welcome @Pipadeepop. Planning is key to my weight loss. If I don’t plan (and shop) then I end up ordering take out. Then it is a slippery slope!

I am a snacker too. I always ensure I have low calorie snacks in the cupboard (even if it is crisps) and build that into my daily calories. I also ensure I have a lot of fruit around. Favourites right now are cherries, pears and peaches.

I calorie count and try to ensure 80% of those calories are protein, veg, salad and fruit. The other 20% of my calories are ‘treats’. Because I need treats!!

My weight loss is slow but steady. It’s hard and you have to have long term determination. I started at over 21 stone. Realistically that is going to take me a couple of years to get to a more healthy weight. Especially as I’m in my 50’s and it takes twice as long than when I was in my 30’s!!

Good luck and keep us all updated on your journey.

DuckWithOneWing · 26/08/2024 12:45

Thanks @Sammysees it's taken a long time but I'm so glad I've got there.

Hi @Pipadeepop welcome to the thread!

@Sunshineandrainbow crisps are delicious and lovely and crunchy. I eat them most days too! Although often I'll have things like pom bear or skips or transform a snack - I don't think they're actually lower in calories as such but they come in smaller bags.

I make sure I've always got a ready meal in the freezer and some frozen steam fresh vegetables. Then if I don't feel up to cooking I can still have something vaguely healthy. I like the Marks and Spencers ready meals but Tesco also do some good ones.

Pipadeepop · 27/08/2024 10:36

Thank you for the welcome. I’ve read back on your posts and am
looking forward to be able to have a current weight drifting away from
my starting weight. One of my daughters is 15 and I found an old pair of jeans I wore at 10 stone, there is a picture of me holding her wearing them. They fit her perfectly, I can’t imagine they’ll ever fit me again, I didn’t like my body then either! Wish I’d been a bit more aware!

Really do need to look after myself and appreciate my body despite it being bigger than I’d like. I have my main meals prepared for the week, so hopefully will have a good few days.

Hope you have a successful day. What sort of exercise are you doing? Do you ever do anything collectively- like 20 squats, heel raises, lunges a day and check in when you’ve done them - exercise buddy type thing?

DuckWithOneWing · 27/08/2024 22:11

I started off just walking. I like the walking exercise videos on YouTube - my favourites are Leslie Sansone and Get Fit with Rick. Then later on in my weight loss journey I increased my walking so that I do at least 6000 steps every day.

Now I've lost 9 stone I go running three times a week, go to Pilates ten times a month and go to Zumba once a week. I'm doing a half marathon next month.

We don't do any collective exercise but if you want to suggest something I'm up for it.

Sammysees · 28/08/2024 18:30

9 stone?!? Wow @DuckWithOneWing you are an inspiration to all of us.

@Pipadeepop, I am a lazy moo and do no exercise whatsoever. By the time I get home from work I am absolutely shattered. I should do something because I am sure it would help my weight loss but I totally lack motivation 😂

Sunshineandrainbow · 01/09/2024 08:52

Morning all, hows your weekend going?

I have weighed first time in two weeks and have lost 3lbs- super happy.
Current weight 15.10
Start weigh 18.9 (I think)

I absolutely can't wait to be under 15 stone. It feels so doable now.

I would be up for something collective as I do zero exercise. I must start going for some walks now the heat has nearly gone.

DuckWithOneWing · 01/09/2024 12:57

I've already done today's exercise! I've just got back from a run. It was so hot and sweaty. It's not that hot inside my house so I didn't realise fully how hot it was until I'd gone outside.

Well done on your 3lbs @Sunshineandrainbow ! 15st is so close. However, my last run shows the heat is very much still here.

Yes @Sammysees 9 stone loss from my highest weight in mid 2021. So it's taken about 3 years and I've had some hiccups around the way. I've had so many milestones all come together in recent weeks. I can fit into an outfit I last wore over 10 years ago.

Sunshineandrainbow · 01/09/2024 15:46

Good for you @DuckWithOneWing you are incredible.

Sammysees · 01/09/2024 15:52

I’ve not weighed for a few weeks. I think I am too scared. I haven’t really been as focused as I should be. I have today however, written a menu plan, shopped and prepped for the week and I am ready for it 💪🏼

You are all doing so well! @Pipadeepop how did your first week go?

Pipadeepop · 02/09/2024 14:23

Hi @Sammysees I had a bonkers loss! 12lb. I am well aware it’s a once in a lifetime occurrence! I had a really busy week, lots of activity, decorating etc so very physical, and was really careful eating about 1000-1200 calories most days with 2 days much lower. As I had a meal out yesterday and didn’t want to feel I’d blown it by eating more. Also lost an inch off my waist, and 2 from my hips. Hoping to lose 2pb this week to
make it a stone. But I’m back to a much more sedentary week so going to have to
focus much more on diet.

I really hope I can keep the momentum this time and actually loose a significant amount, like everyone on here.

Hope you’re all having a marvellous Monday!

Sw 19
Cw 18.2
Goal 12.0

DuckWithOneWing · 02/09/2024 20:07

We went to McDonald's today because I wanted to try the Grimace Shake. I thought it was really nice but was amazed by how many calories it was (367!). Also went to Pilates today which was good. I'm getting so much better at doing bridges.

Well done on 12lbs @Pipadeepop that's incredible! First week losses are usually good but that's really good! Fingers crossed you get your 2lb loss this week.

@Sammysees meal plans are a brilliant idea. I feel like it's something I should do more often.

Izzydogmum · 03/09/2024 06:56

Morning all!

I haven't been on here for about 3 weeks, in that time I had a week off work, my daughters 1st birthday and my dads 2yr anniversary of his passing, so it's all been a bit hectic.

Didn't weigh myself until today, but can report:

SW: 311
CW: 301.5
Total loss: 9.6lbs
So looks like I stalled a little bit, but now back on it and still aiming for 275lbs by end of Nov.

Well done you lot! I can see some good losses there.
Keep going!

Have a good week all.

Sammysees · 06/09/2024 19:43

Amazing @Pipadeepop and you too @Izzydogmum. Brilliant losses.

I have lost the plot completely this week and I’m really disappointed in myself. But I am determined to get back on it Sunday. I am out all day tomorrow with a 7 hour drive which I am dreading.

How do you all stay committed? I thought I’d made some really positive changes but I have found it is so easy to fall back into those bad habits. I obviously need to do more work on this.
