2 Stone Slimmer For Summer - a thread for those with lots to lose

RedDoughnut · 01/04/2024 11:54

Here we go! This is our third 2 stones off thread.

I did really well in 2 stones off for Xmas, less good in the Easter thread.

I found having an end date in sight meant I could focus on the date rather than than the monumental amount of weight I needed to lose

End date for this thread is 15th July which will roughly tie in with school holidays. 15 weeks from today.

Welcome to anyone new who wants to join and to anyone who has been involved in either of the two previous threads.
Im not starting until tomorrow

I'd also like to ask that everyone adds one element of self care that they don't usually have time for. I'm going to start using a specific cream for my eyes. Maybe by summer that will also show a difference?

I lost 1 lb this week so still plugging away. How is everyone else getting on?

kirinm · 08/07/2024 10:51

I'm very disappointed. I was 3lbs down this week until I went for a run when I suddenly jumped up 3lb. I know it's water retention but it really puts me off exercising. It is so disheartening to see the scales go up when you know you're doing everything right (and I really know that I am)!

ItRainsItPours · 08/07/2024 11:43

@kirinm do you weight at the same time of day in the same state of dress (or undress). My weight varies by about 7lbs over the day.

kirinm · 08/07/2024 11:53

@socks1107 yes I do and I know it is because of water retention because I feel stiff and it happened almost immediately afttt going for a run. I am sure it'll come down u til I exercise again. The gain is temporary but exercise always stalls my losses which is why I've avoided it for the last few weeks!

So I hit the three stone mark today.
I'm in total denial that I've achieved this but I feel so good in myself!

I do really need another stone off but I'm pretty pleased to be sitting on a loss that I dreamt of this time last year and I know the next stone is easily achievable now.

That’s fantastic, well done xx

@Namerequired well done that’s almost 3 and a half stone!

@Namerequired well done that’s almost 3 and a half stone!

Thank you! Still have a lot to go at little over 5ft, so just need to keep the motivation up. Have dropped from size 20 to just into size 16 though which feels good

Namerequired · 09/07/2024 22:03

Anyone use Fitbit/Apple Watch with my fitness pal? I have been using a Fitbit since I started but got an Apple Watch for my birthday a few days ago. On MFP walking 15000 or so steps it told me I had an extra 8/900 calories (sometimes more) I could use. Thank goodness I rarely did. From I got my Apple Watch the same walks/steps is now telling me I can eat an extra 180/190 calories! Some difference.

ItRainsItPours · 09/07/2024 22:08

I don’t think either of those are correct @Namerequired . One too much and one far too little. My Fitbit definitely over estimates but I try to eat roughly the same calories everyday whether I have exercised or not. I just use the calorie counter as a guide so I know if I have had an active day or not. It’s useful because some days I don’t purposefully exercise but I end up burning a decent number of calories doing a bit of gardening or housework.

I don’t use them really so it probably makes little difference. My Apple Watch shows the calories burned on each walk which is more then this but on MFP it came up at 191 yesterday and 180 odd today extra exercise calories. I noticed because it was such a vast difference and it also changes the if you do this every day in 5 weeks you will weigh thing. Though it was never right anyway, it was very high on Fitbit

So pleased 2 1/2stone off for the challenge. Still plenty to go of course but what a good kickstart.

Great thread, well done to all still here at the end, some great losses. Is the next thread a countdown to Christmas? 😩🤣😂

socks1107 · 16/07/2024 08:16

This thread has really helped me achieve my goal. Thank you everyone Smile

First weigh in post surgery (exactly a week ago and I am up 4.6lbs from pre op weigh in. Down a couple of pounds from earlier this week. Fluids and swelling I think so am not going to worry as have been tracking food and I”m sure the excess will vanish at some point.

afrikat · 19/07/2024 11:30

My personal weigh in is a Friday and I am down 2.5lb this week, really happy after a slow few weeks! 0.3lb to go to get in the 140s..

Seaitoverthere · 30/07/2024 08:05

Have lost the post surgery 6.6 lbs water and swelling gain and am 0.4lbs lighter than just before surgery which is good to see.

ItRainsItPours · 30/07/2024 12:11

Are we still counting down to Summer? I am keeping going, lost another 5lbs this year.

bfsham · 30/07/2024 12:35

Hopefully someone will make a new thread 🤞. I've lost 22 lb but need to lose another 22 lb yet to stop being overweight.

afrikat · 30/07/2024 21:01

I've got another 14lbs to lose so another thread would be good!

Namerequired · 13/08/2024 11:33

Has a new thread been started? Had a couple weeks off and a holiday. Came back weighing half a stone on but thankfully it’s came off again so I’m back to 14st 4. Really need accountability though as I’m seeing how easy I can slip back into bad habits.
Really been struggling with the gallstones too, so many flare ups regardless of what u do or don’t eat.
