2 Stone Slimmer For Summer - a thread for those with lots to lose

RedDoughnut · 01/04/2024 11:54

Here we go! This is our third 2 stones off thread.

I did really well in 2 stones off for Xmas, less good in the Easter thread.

I found having an end date in sight meant I could focus on the date rather than than the monumental amount of weight I needed to lose

End date for this thread is 15th July which will roughly tie in with school holidays. 15 weeks from today.

Welcome to anyone new who wants to join and to anyone who has been involved in either of the two previous threads.
Im not starting until tomorrow

I'd also like to ask that everyone adds one element of self care that they don't usually have time for. I'm going to start using a specific cream for my eyes. Maybe by summer that will also show a difference?

I'm at the end of week 8 today. I started on 16th April, and I've been very focussed - no alcohol etc. I'm almost at 2st, 1.4lbs to go!

Wow fantastic! Well done x

Wow that’s amazing! What have you done besides no alcohol? I need pointers!

I am really struggling. Before starting a medication I was losing steadily. Since starting it 14 weeks ago I have lost just under 5lbs and I don’t think it is particularly helping with what it was prescribed for. Really annoying.

HappyKatieA · 12/06/2024 18:48

Thanks everyone.
I've been doing keto, a mix of shakes and high protein/low carbs/low fat. It really works for me. I know it's not for everyone, but I just needed to get some weight gone and quickly.

Seaitoverthere · 14/06/2024 08:51

0.6lb off this week so with 0.2lb last week that is under a pound. I’m aiming to average a pound a week and this is getting a bit frustrating. It seems to be linked to a medication. If I hadn’t have been in a calorie deficit I would be up about 6lbs. Pre meds I was losing well with the 3.5k calorie deficit equals a pound lost and was actually averaging about an extra 10% loss. It wasn’t linear but worked out over time.

To add insult to injury I don’t think the stuff is helping much anyway. All a bit frustrating as at this rate at a rate of about 1.5lb loss a month I’m going to be at it for a number of years.

That's really frustrating for you, can you see the go and request a change?
I've stalled a bit but I've had my daughters 18th and covid in the last two weeks and am on holiday next week. We walk loads on holiday so I'm not too worried and I've not overeaten the last two weeks just not been in as much of a deficit as I should've been.
I keep looking back at photos though and it really shows now! I've lost the shelf that was my bum!!

ItRainsItPours · 14/06/2024 09:29

@Seaitoverthere I am in the same boat with medication. I have worked out my calorie deficit compared to the 3500 theoretically needed to lose one pound. I am losing about half of that. Still losing though so happy, and I wouldn’t want to lose any quicker as I think it would eat into muscle. The medication I take is lifelong and I have been on it for 20 years and it is definitely a big part of why I ended up 19 stone. I have had to come to terms with what I can eat whilst on it.

Seaitoverthere · 14/06/2024 09:31

Thanks @socks1107 , great you can see the difference and good you haven’t over eaten. Hope you have a lovely holiday.

I am hopefully having a hip replacement in a month for dysplasia and have to stop anti inflammatories 2 weeks before and am worried that maybe the other med is doing more than I realise so have decided I’ll contact rheumatology once I have recovered a bit from the op and see if I can switch. Orthopaedics said she thought weight issues with it are generally temporary so maybe eventually it will resolve and at least I am losing again, albeit painfully slowly!

ItRainsItPours · 14/06/2024 09:50

@Seaitoverthere if you are awaiting a hip replacement then your big problem is not being able to burn many calories through activity. I’m sure once you’ve done the physio rehab after the op, you will be moving more and therefore find it easier to lose weight.

Seaitoverthere · 14/06/2024 11:04

@ItRainsItPours the inactivity really doesn’t help but I was able to lose before the medication as could still attain a calorie deficit by reducing food. I am a sad individual and have my beloved spreadsheet and it is clear when the medication kicks in.

You are right though, once I can move again properly (finger's crossed, touch wood) I will be able to burn more which will help hugely as will put me into a bigger deficit. I just need to be patient which I am not great at 😀

WinterStar1 · 14/06/2024 23:16

Just checking in to say I'm still plodding along. Weight is definitely coming off slower on this thread than what they did the last couple of threads. However weight still continues to go down which can only be good. Slow and steady wins the race.

Current Loss - 1.2kg
Total loss - 6.4kg
Target loss - 13kg

Well after a gain last week I worked really really hard…until Friday 🙈 Weekends keep coming around quick and derailing me. Despite that I got 3lb off so happy with that. Determined to get into that next stone this week!!
Hope yous all had/have a good week

afrikat · 17/06/2024 10:44

1lb loss this week, which is less than I should be losing given my calorie deficit but I'll take it after a whole month of losing nothing

SW 13st 7lb
CW 11st 2lb
GW 10st (or slightly under)

A bit late but I lost 5lb last week. Unfortunately now I've ovulated and am at the other end of my cycle, I'm starting to bloat so I expect the scales to stay static. I have had to really restrict calories to get this loss and it's definitely not sustainable

SW: 15:10
CW: 14.6
GW: 11.7

Target for late August (when I'm on holiday) is 13.

Seaitoverthere · 21/06/2024 08:13

Lost a pound this week which is good to see. That’s 5.8 lbs in the 16 weeks since I started my meds. In the 14 weeks prior to that I lost 23.5lbs. It’s really frustrating and definitely does affect my weight loss. Good thing I was trying to lose or I would be up a fair bit I think .

MadameMassiveSalad · 21/06/2024 12:00

Ffs i've been intermittent fasting and eating super healthily but just keep going up and down the same 3lbs.

I've sooo much to lose (3st) . It's stressing me out. Which I know doesn't help.

How many calories are you eating?

kirinm · 22/06/2024 09:11

@MadameMassiveSalad around 1000/1200. But with intermittent fasting too. It actually is fine when I'm at work but I have been feeling too tired to exercise etc. long term it definitely isn't sustainable or healthy but I was feeling extremely despondent about not losing at all.

socks1107 · 22/06/2024 09:53

I weighed yesterday and have lost on holiday. Not through careful food choices but food poisoning!

Sw 87.6
Gw 75
Cw 71.8

I need to set a new goal too for the last stone or so

afrikat · 22/06/2024 09:56

I've officially hit my first big milestone - I am in the healthy BMI range! 36lbs down. 14lbs to goal weight ❤️

ItRainsItPours · 22/06/2024 10:00

Oh no @socks1107 , I’ve been there, hope you feel better soon.
I have a busy weekend of summer festival fun this weekend. I’ll have to see how I get on with all the temptations of food vans. I seem to remember last year I had a delicious churro covered in Nutella.

Thank you! I do feel better, luckily it all started after I got home so didn't spoil our trip either
