Following on from the February thread.

Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now maintaining around 8st 12lb; although I’d like to see another half stone off 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Hi everyone. I've been completely off the boil the last few days. Unexpected period (thanks peri-menopause) put paid to all sorts of healthy plans, a sore hip interfered with exercise, and there's been Mother's Day, which I spent with my mum and after losing my sibling last year that was a particularly tough one and no time for calorie counting.

But, I'm wearing jeans that were a bit tight at Christmas and hip permitting, will get back on the healthy eating and exercise tomorrow.

B:Poached egg on toast
D :pork fillet 🥇 with 3 roast potatoes , 1 homemade Yorkpud, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, stuffing and gravy. 2 glasses white wine.

LemonDrizzle23 · 10/03/2024 18:40

Well today went a little awry thanks to a large bar of Waitrose Valencia orange truffle chocolate 😬

A snackcident if you will.

But it has at least been a relatively active (and lovely) Mother's Day / weekend. Back on it tomorrow. Holiday in 2.5 weeks, so the countdown is on.

@TheRealHousewife we've said we'll have to get tickets at some point, as they seem to have lots of monster truck rallies in Birmingham!

43ontherocksporfavor · 10/03/2024 18:41

Ooooob that sounds delightful and well worth the calories!

I'm definitely back on it this week!

Plan for today is:

B - coffee, yoghurt, blueberries and nuts
L - vegetable soup
D - avocado and poached eggs on wholegrain toast
E - gym session

LemonDrizzle23 · 11/03/2024 09:31

Ok - intentions for this week.

  • aim for 10,000 steps a day
  • 3 x cycling sessions
  • plan and track meals in nutracheck
  • continue with IF

I'm away midweek missing WOW, so will weigh in tomorrow morning instead.

WeirdPookah · 11/03/2024 10:31

Oh good grief... I was up most of Saturday night with my child being sick and stuck on the toilet, cleaning up in the middle of the night. Happy Mother's Day huh?? We didn't plan to go out thankfully, but didn't have the best day, one child moping on the sofa, the other stir crazy and ended up defiant and purposefully stirring everybody.

Have my older at home today thanks to 48 hour school policy after vomiting, but she's feeling a million times better and is missing paid for music lessons today! Urgh.

B: black-eyed bean burrito
L: eggs, peppers, tomatoes
D: chicken mango almond korma, cauliflower
cream in my coffee because it's left over from yesterday!

TheRealHousewife · 11/03/2024 11:43

Sounds tough @WeirdPookah ❤️. Pleased to read your dd is feeling somewhat better!

@LemonDrizzle23 Loving your intentions for the week! You’ll feel such achievement when they are all ticked off!

@ThreeRingCircus 👍

Checking in after a weekend away, weigh in this morning +5.5lb 😫. I do gain weight VERY easily and I also can lose it again quickly, but it’s very annoying as I didn’t go completely overboard. Anyway, back to it today, I have quite a few birthday things this month and I can’t put on weight every single time so I need to be more careful. I also feel soooo uncomfortable, my stomach is sore and it’s crazy how weeks of eating really well and minimal UPF and then having 3 days of having whatever makes me feel quite unwell. Certainly no inclination to not get back on track- soup is cooking as I type! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I am also out tomorrow night for dinner but that’s the only social thing this week I think so can focus!

PatienceOfEngels · 11/03/2024 14:10

I have massively fallen off the wagon with junk food. I managed to get it together this morning to make some soup for lunch instead of sneaking off for junk, though still had cake and a chocolate bar at work. was out for lunch/dinner Saturday though also walked miles through Amsterdam so swings and roundabouts! My weight has shot up again from a month of not looking after myself.

This week:
I will stay away from UPF.
I will drink enough water.
I will walk or stretch/yoga everyday.
I will eat in a 12 hour window (no snacking after dinner).
I will do a short breathing exercise every morning and evening.

Today:
-boiled egg, rye toast, coffee
-homemade cake
-carrot and lentil soup, bread with olive oil
-twix and cup of herbal tea
-spaghetti bolognese

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 11/03/2024 14:45

Thank you @TheRealHousewife ❤️ It's so difficult getting through these 'firsts' and there are several more to come. Our world was so very different a year ago, when a terminal diagnosis wasn't even on the radar.

Back to today, not the best start thanks to a working lunch at a tapas style restaurant. I tried not to overdo it, but bound to be more calories than my usual soup, fruit, and protein snack!! I'm going away for the weekend too, so will just be as good as I can be. Funnily enough, when looking for restaurants for the weekend, I instantly dismissed posh burger type places - I used to be very tempted by a quality burger and fries and just the thought of it makes me feel bloated. interesting how a lengthy period of portion control affects your appetite for some things.

TheRealHousewife · 11/03/2024 16:03

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Grief and bereavement really do wring you out. Several years ago we lost 4 direct family members all within 9 months. All unrelated, all sudden. I didn’t think I’d ever get through it; it was a tsunami of grief 💔 I’m sure I went a little bit mad with it all 🥹

@PatienceOfEngels @maybein2022 This is what Mondays are for … Fresh Starts 👍🥰

I did exactly this a couple of weeks ago.

4 nights i. Butlins gained 5lb, next week lost 5lb. It's the salt and I drank less water while I was there as busy out and about.

It's a blip, just forge on and it will be fine.

I feel like I had a little breakthrough this weekend! Friday night we were going to a house warming (planned ages ago). We ate dinner before we went and whilst I did partake in the food provided, I ate almost nothing compared to what I would have had otherwise (it was all pizza, garlic bread, nachos, etc). I had 1 tiny square of pizza and 3 pieces of GB - but did eat cake 😂

Tonight I was meeting a friend for dinner at Miller & Carter. Usually when I'm eating out I eat whatever I want. Tonight I picked the pumpkin salad with grilled chicken and added fries. No dessert and less than half the calories of what I would have picked! So some mini wins 🏆 feel much better for it too.

Flowerchild547 · 11/03/2024 22:08

Everyone seems to be doing really well! Keep it up!

I indulged in Mother’s Day chocolate yesterday however it is now gone and I no longer have to think about it!

I started doing some YouTube workouts this week so my aim is to do at least 3 this week.

There has been no loss on the scales yet this week however I am mindful that I did have a meal out, wine and chocolate so I can’t expect miracles.

Tonight, I invested in electronic kitchen scales so I can really measure and count everything accurately. I struggle with portion control so am hopeful this may help.

Have a lovely week all.

LegoTherapy · 11/03/2024 22:50

I'm trying to find motivation to keep on track. Today I've kept to calories and no eating after dinner which was at 5.30pm. I've walked 11 miles. Done some gardening. I need to focus on where I want to be and get going. Af is due if my moods are anything to go by. That never helps.
Day 1 done though so I'll just keep plodding on like everyone else is doing. We will get there. Of course I'm not sure what I'm aiming for yet. I need to think on that.

LemonDrizzle23 · 12/03/2024 08:03

I am off to the theatre this evening and staying away in the city, so early WOW for me. Small loss of 0.3kg this week, but there has definitely been more food and less movement, so it's probably fair!

SW: 97.5
CW: 92.5
10%: 88

By the looks of the weather this week, most of my walking is going to be done at the gym! I usually enjoy a lot of walking in a city break, but I think it's going to be too wet!

ImALittlePea · 12/03/2024 09:47

Morning all! Last week ended up being a bit of an unplanned holiday week for me - I couldn't figure out why but I just felt like I needed a week of saying 'fuck it' to everything and just having what I wanted. So that's what we did - and we had a lovely few days with lots of meals out and wine. In retrospect, I wonder whether after really struggling to stick to my plan so far this year, that I almost needed to go so far in the wrong direction that it would hyper focus me back to a healthier path? Does that make any sense at all?! In any case, I woke up yesterday with a fresh sense of real determination. DH and I have agreed to a very quiet weekend ahead and we've both sworn off alcohol altogether until our next social plans, which are fortnight away. I did two gruelling classes last week, lots of steps during busy shifts at work, and completed a five mile charity walk at the weekend, so not a total bust on that front either.

Anyway - I didn't weigh on Friday 😬 may or may not WoF this week...

Meal updates!

Yesterday:
Lunch - scrambled eggs with mushrooms, tomatoes, pepper and 30g cheese, on a slice of toast with some brown sauce
Dinner - grilled chicken breast, homemade sweet potato wedges, and a huge pile of veg
Snacks - bag of crisps
Tea and lots and lots of water.

Today's plan is still being formed as I need to go shopping, so I'll update on that later.

MrsPepperpotty · 12/03/2024 09:53

Early weigh in for me this week:
SW 15st 4
CW 13st 12
GW 11st 11

An important milestone for me this week - my BMI has just moved from 'obese' into the 'overweight' category. Really pleased 😀

Good luck everyone weighing in tomorrow!

ScouseOfCards · 12/03/2024 10:01

Hello all, please can I join? I hit my highest ever weight before Christmas, over 15 stone. I did Slim Fast for about 6 weeks at the start of this year to give me a headstart which has worked.... I've lost nearly a stone but it is really unsustainable for me so I'm attempting to swap to a more whole-food diet and stop doing what I always do and looking for quick fixes!

I don't really know what my overall goal weight is, but I am still in the obese BMI category and I'd love to get to the normal range. Well done @MrsPepperpotty on getting out of the obese category.... I think that will be my first goal.

I will weigh this week and update but my overall plan for the week is more oats, more pulses, more fruit and veg, less saturated fat and less snacking.

Breakfast today was greek yoghurt, blueberries, apple and walnuts

Lunch will be vegetable ratatouille

Dinner of poached eggs and avocado on toast

LegoTherapy · 12/03/2024 10:12

@MrsPepperpotty congratulations! That must feel amazing 😃

Pleasantly surprised with the scales this morning after 2 weeks of eating take away pizza and chip barns and not really doing much apart from keeping breakfast and lunch healthy and restricted on junk. I thought I'd have gained a couple of kilos but I'm more or less the sane as I was. Bloated and can't go to the toilet though. I'm hungry this morning and making a bagel for an early lunch! rather than snack. I figure that's a better thing to do. I've got loads to do today on my day off so a very early lunch with the golden girls and my hot water bottle after getting drenched in the school run then I'll be doing housework all day.
