Following on from the January thread.

February 2024! Start to get Fit & Fabulous by adopting healthy eating habits & moving more. Join-in to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now I’m back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Follow along to get Fit & Fabulous in readiness for the long awaited Spring and a bit of sunshine ☀️

A couple of quite carb heavy meals around here - vege lasagne and meatballs with mashed potatoes and salad. But no alcohol to cancel out the extra calories. Have been eating blueberries and apricots for treats and am sad it’s coming to the end of the growing season here in NZ.

I have also just joined Noom on the advice of a friend and am currently doing the free trial to see how it goes.

Am really hoping to be under 76kgs at my next weigh in!

maybein2022 · 12/02/2024 08:01

Morning all,

Half term here so a busy week ahead and I do have a couple of meals out so need to be careful.

Weigh in this morning- delighted to see a 3lb loss taking me to 18lb off in 6 weeks AND a big milestone- 4 stone loss in total. A long way to go but this feels like a big milestone!

Hope everyone is well and doing ok.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 12/02/2024 08:41

Monday morning weigh in

SW - 1st Jan - 225 lb
WC 5th Feb - 211 lb
WC 12th Feb - 210 lb

Loss this week 1 lb
Total Loss - 15 lb

PatienceOfEngels · 12/02/2024 08:58

Morning all! Half term here too so out of routine but more time to exercise and get outside.

B - boiled egg and rye toast w butter, coffee
L - bit weird as going to cinema which spans lunchtime (11-2) so an apple, cheese, extra bit of rye toast before we go and taking some unsalted nuts for cinema snack (and will probably have something as well).
D- split pea soup, bread (might make some fresh if I have time after cinema.

Have had a short walk and done a yoga video. Fell off the daily yoga wagon for the first week of February so taking advantage of half term to get in a short session in the morning and then in the evening, and hope to carry on with the evening sessions once I'm back at work. Lots of home cooking this week while I'm off work.

Weight has stayed the same this week so not expecting a loss Wednesday. But still 8kg down on October 💪

Have a great day everyone!

ImALittlePea · 12/02/2024 09:01

Morning!

I hope you're feeling ok now @WeirdPookah and the birthday celebration went ok?

Weekend was a serious bust over here. Heard Saturday that I wasn't successful with the job, just as I was on my way to the supermarket... Safe to say the shop was fuelled by emotions 😥 I'm over it now but will have to be super careful with choices over the half term to not put those 4lb straight back on 😏

Off to squeeze a quick class in before work this morning!

Plan is to have loaded eggs/possible wrap to fuel up between class and work. Dinner tbc!

Have a good Monday everyone ❤️

ThreeRingCircus · 12/02/2024 09:14

Sorry to hear that @ImALittlePea. I'm a firm believer that if you're not right for a job, it wouldn't have been right for you if you see what I mean. I'm sure better things are round the corner for you!

Yesterday I had a hummus, sweet chilli, spring onion and coriander wrap for lunch and spicy fried rice for dinner. Both were very nice!

Half term this week too so we're really out of routine and I'm going to have to plan my meals quite carefully when I'm out and about with DDs. Dinners are normally fine, they eat what we eat anyway.

It does mean less rushing about though so I want to get more walks in with DDs and do a bit of yoga every day.

Good luck for this week everyone!

LegoTherapy · 12/02/2024 09:26

Morning all. I'm slowly getting back into normal weekday mode today. It's half term though so not as much walking. I felt ill all night with weird stomach gurgling all night. The noise woke me up it was that loud I thought Dd was doing something weird!I don't think it liked the entire tub Ben and Jerrys Blush It was almost worth it. I'm not a massive ice cream eater but really fancied it and before I knew it the whole tub was gone.

I've gained a kilo on holiday which isn't bad. I managed to do lots of walking while there-9 miles the first 2 days. Lots of swimming with us in the pool twice a day. It was bliss. Now back to the daily grind.

Today I'm going to make a big batch of marinara sauce and a banana loaf for the dc. I might make a lasagne this week. My favourite but not made for such a long time.

Hope everyone is going well. Don't forget your 🍾

HighlandCowRose · 12/02/2024 11:07

maybein2022 wow, 4 stone overall is fantastic.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain also a great loss.

LegoTherapy I know what you mean about before you knew it the Ben and Jerrys was gone, so easily done.
A kilos not a bad gain for a holiday.

ImALittlePea sorry to hear about the job.

Sw 15st 5lb
Cw 14st 3.8lb
This week 1½lb
Total loss 14 ½lb

I'm really pleased that my difficult week didn't show on the scales
I made a conscious decision to not eat my feelings, I usually would. I think it was possibly out of defiance, kind of like I'm not going to let you (dh) throw me off.

Really pleased to have the first stone off

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/02/2024 13:01

Sorry to hear about the job @ImALittlePea I hope there's something better around the corner.

I blew my calorie budget yesterday, wine and chippy chips being the main culprit Blush but, I did share some chips with DS rather than a whole portion, and had with seeded bread rather than a white bread roll, so small wins... I made myself do a Les mills Tone class which burned a few calories, so that helps too. I'm about 1/2 a pound lighter today than last Wed, so fingers crossed I'll still report a loss on WOW.

Todays menu:

B - slice of seeded bread/toast with butter (we were up late today)
L - home made tomato and sweet potato soup, two falafels and small portion of humous
D - prawn/chorizo/rice dish. We're swapping white rice for brown rice this time.

S - non yet, will have some fruit later

Exercise - planning a strength class and a stretch class later.

TheRealHousewife · 12/02/2024 14:38

Thanks everyone. It was really disappointing, the whole process of applying and interviewing for jobs is so brutal isn't it! I really had my heart set on it too, but as a few of you have said - these things happen for a reason. I'm lucky I've still got my job, but I'm getting increasingly exhausted from the shifts (and having been so invested in this one, I really want to figure out a career path for myself that I will feel proud of, not like I'm underachieving or letting myself down as I feel about work now). Anyway, I moped enough at the weekend - time to move on to the next opportunity, hopefully soon!

Menu update:
Lunch - bacon, pepper, tomato, scrambled egg and cheese in a wrap with a bit of ketchup
Dinner - homemade sweet potato chips, sausages, peas and sweetcorn
Snacks - shared a couple of haribo and crisps with ds in between shifts.
Lots and lots and lots of WATER!

Right, I'm making like a dwarf and hi-ho-ing back to work!

WeirdPookah · 12/02/2024 19:14

@TheRealHousewife It was my daughters 10th birthday party! It had to go ahead, and I absolutely had to make the cake, as I was making a creature from Harry Potter for her!!

She loved it so much, it was worth the effort. Still feeling pretty rough, and probably eating party food for two days isn't helping that LOL... but hey ho.

Partially lost my voice now, half term and the weather forecast is awful, got a bunch of girls coming round Thursday for more party, going out for meal Friday, got other Grandparents coming for scones and coffee etc Saturday.

I'm going to have to pick up the eating better on the other side of the 10th birthday... which is also causing some emotional wobbles too, my first hitting double digits.

TheRealHousewife · 12/02/2024 20:05

Wow @WeirdPookah You have so much to look forward to. I agree it's a big milestone when birthdays go into double digits. Try not to stress and have fun!

Had a busy day running errands & making phone calls.
We bought a new tap for the kitchen Friday evening and tried to install it yesterday but of course the new hoses were the wrong length for the confined space, the old hose connector was the wrong size 🤦🏻‍♀️ and the plumber merchants were all closed.
Got it installed this evening & it's nice to have access to water in the kitchen again.

B Toast with houmous & raspberries
L Poached eggs on toast with fake smoked salmon
D Sweet potato, lentil, coconut & kale stew
S Wine & crisps

afaloren · 12/02/2024 20:40

Forgot to post over the weekend, mostly stuck to good food but did have some wine. Long walks both days.

Today:

B - Protein yoghurt, banana
L - Chicken sausages, salad, clementines
D - Beef bourgingon, peas, chocolate protein pot
E - 2 x dog walks, yoga, cardio session at the gym

EndlessGuineaPigCycle · 12/02/2024 20:58

@ImALittlePea Sorry to hear about your job application, good luck with finding another role that you like

I've fallen off the wagon big time over the past few days 😟. I feel annoyed with myself but am determined to pull myself back as I was doing so well and was feeling so much better for it. Pancake day tomorrow, then Valentine's day won't help matters though, but I will do what I can. I may skip WoW this week!

I'm planning some nice healthy meals for tomorrow, and will do my treadmill as I've skipped that for a few days also. And I will drink lots of water too!

PatienceOfEngels · 13/02/2024 07:59

We went to see the new Hunger Games film @TheRealHousewife ! Overly long and they should have split into two films as the third part was really rushed. Read all the books with DC last year and promised we'd go but only just got round to it.

B - rye toast, boiled egg, coffee
L-butternut squash soup
D-lamb stroganoff and rice

head ing out to cycle in National Park with DC today for a few hours. Just about to do yoga this morning and will do this evening as well. Still struggling with switching off even though we're on half term and it's affecting my sleep (waking up and not being able to get back to sleep). Chipping away at my to-do list and getting enough time outside is helping but I need to stay off screens a bit more.

shearwater2 · 13/02/2024 08:09

3lbs off this week, 5lb in 3 weeks. Really delighted particularly as I was struggling with the low calorie days on 5:2 and switched to regular calorie counting.

LemonDrizzle23 · 13/02/2024 09:38

Sounds like people are having a decent start to half term. Ours isn't til next week, so business as usual here. Glad you managed to power through the party @WeirdPookah . Sorry about the interview @ImALittlePea .

Pancake day and valentines this week. So I weighed this morning just in case Grin there will be copious amounts of lime and sugar this evening. And then a pad thai for dinner for valentines and something chocolatey in a pot that DH picked up.

More germs here this week, but I am pushing through a bit. Keeping up with my swimming three times a week and enjoying it.

Newbornmum · 13/02/2024 10:00

Hello everyone :) I haven't posted in ages eeeeek and am going backwards so trying to get back on track! I am also eating so much sugar (I think for quick energy!) and would really like to try and eat more fruits and veggies where possible instead and make some healthy changes. Have started trying to get in some exercise again, so that's a positive, but my actual nutrition is pants! Congrats all on a good start to half term week. Hope it's OK if I hop back in! 🌻👋

TheRealHousewife · 13/02/2024 11:40

Shrove Tuesday today and I usually have a gluten free pancake but I’m not that bothered today. Might give them a miss. Other half is still having his regular pancakes as he really does enjoy them 😋

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 13/02/2024 19:00

Well done on the cake effort @WeirdPookah

I made pancakes this morning - not too calorific. I only had two small ones with lemon, tiny bit of sugar, raspberries, banana and some flaxseeds for a bit of extra fibre. DS was thrilled I'd made them, were a bit lax normally.

Lunch was soup, some chicken and a satsuma.

Dinner was prawn chorizo pepper brown rice dish (swapped from yesterday)

Snack - I caved and had a small treat sized chocolate bar at work.

Exercise - we had an early dinner so not sure I will get a class in tonight, it takes a while after eating for me to face exercising.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 13/02/2024 20:30

Unlike DD who managed to snag pancakes with every meal today I have abstained and stuck to my new normal food. Just back from aqua aerobics so will be eating a rare evening snack, always bloody starving after anything swimming related.

afaloren · 13/02/2024 21:31

I did have pancakes but worked it into my calories. Still felt like a nice treat tho!

B - Dried apricots, protein yoghurt
L - Leftover beef bourguignon, peas
D - Protein pancakes with choc shot and raspberries
S - Protein shake
E - Long dog walk, yoga, weights at the gym

I went up another kg in dumbbells today which felt good!

LemonDrizzle23 · 14/02/2024 07:30

Morning all! Happy post-pancake WOW day - or Valentine's Day as it is more widely known.

I weighed yesterday morning (to avoid pancake disruption) and am 0.8kg down this week. Happy about that.

SW: 97.5
CW: 94
5% : 92.5

This week has the potential to be a calorie laden one for various reasons, so I am going to continue to try and be mindful of my intake, and keep up the swimming and IF where possible.

Good luck to everyone weighing 🤞🏻
