Following on from the January thread.

February 2024! Start to get Fit & Fabulous by adopting healthy eating habits & moving more. Join-in to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now I’m back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Follow along to get Fit & Fabulous in readiness for the long awaited Spring and a bit of sunshine ☀️

No snow here, just relentless rain. I drive around to houses in the community for work and the number of roads flooded was scary.

B - Protein yoghurt, banana
L - Chicken sausages, salad
D - Mackerel, green beans, broccoli, chocolate protein pot
S - Protein shake
E - Dog walk, step class. I will do yoga before bed as it’s a ‘wind down’ practice on the calendar today

Weigh in tomorrow! I’m expecting a maintain.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 08/02/2024 22:05

Glad it's useful @LemonDrizzle23 it really helped me why I was sabotaging my efforts at the weekend!

Just come out of the theatre to sleet coming down sideways, wasn't expecting that at all. Wouldn't mind some proper sledging weather snow tbh. Despite living in Scotland, it's been a good few years since we had any. 2020 I think.

WeirdPookah · 09/02/2024 06:11

@TheRealHousewife yes, hot water bottles all round last night.

I am up stupid early now thanks to my husband snoring as he is ill, germs from school for half term effing great thanks.

Anyway... I lost 2lbs this week.

22.9lbs down since January 1st
64.8lbs down total.

TheRealHousewife · 09/02/2024 06:46

Good Morning

@WeirdPookah Congratulations on your progress! 👏👍👌 Same here in regards to my partners snoring keeping me awake. He too has another virus/cough/lurgy thing going on. I’m half expecting to catch it myself in the coming days. Roll on Spring, sunshine and warmer weather ☀️

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Weve had a few winter breaks up in Scotland over the years and we only saw snow if we went into the mountains 🏔️. Breath taking scenery!

@afaloren You manage your time so well. Community work, exercise and looking after pooch 👏

I’ve had to alter menu this week as my arranged food shop could not get through yesterday. They offered to deliver tonight at 10:00pm which is too late for us, so declined. Full refund and £20 voucher. Next shop has free delivery.

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made soup. Pecans.
Meal 2 - Home made burger, potato wedges skin on and salad.
Tea, coffee and water.

Thanks @TheRealHousewife thats kind of you to say Flowers

WOF!

This week - 1.7lb
Since Jan 01 - 16.5lb

I’m delighted with that loss as I had a big loss last week, I went away for the weekend and I’m on my period! I was expecting to maintain or even a small gain so happy days.

ImALittlePea · 09/02/2024 09:17

Morning everyone, happy Friday! I've been too preoccupied with interview prep this week to really keep up with the thread, sorry 😬 I'm now ready to go this afternoon though, thanks everyone for the well wishes!

@LegoTherapy sorry to hear you have felt so down, especially while on holiday! It's easy to say I know, but I can guarantee that the other people you're comparing yourself too are also looking round the pool and feeling the same! We all know that comparison is the thief of joy, but we all do it to our own detriment. I hope you can enjoy your holiday and not feel too down on yourself 💞

Well done to everyone who has weighed and continued to post this week. SUPERSTARS!

I was thrilled with my wof this week - 4lb off!!!! I've been making much better choices, tracking on MFP (although I'm going to switch to nutricheck after everyone's positive stories!), I've had more variety and really enjoyed my meals. No wine, very little snacking, lots of water and been back to classes after a couple of weeks off due to a poorly leg. It's really helped me feel energised and in the zone for later on.

Now for some positive manifesting and more focus! Argh! Fingers crossed for me 🤞😂

rainbow616 · 09/02/2024 09:21

Morning everyone 😊

I lost just under 2lbs this week-very happy with that!!

SW-13st 5.4lbs
CW-12st 11lbs
GW-11 stone

I really want to get to 12 1/2 by 1st March, so hopefully I can lose those 4lbs by then!

Hope everyone has a good weekend x

WeirdPookah · 09/02/2024 10:26

Thank you @TheRealHousewife I now have come down with it in the last few hours, feeling it on my chest badly. I'm really disappointed getting ill before half term when we have so much planned.

B: porridge, cinnamon, prunes, cashew butter
L: eggs, peppers, tomatoes
D: yorkshire puddings, veggie sausage, broccoli, peas, gravy

@afaloren @rainbow616 @ImALittlePea well done!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/02/2024 13:26

Well done for the Friday losses!

Sorry you've been struck down with the lurgy @WeirdPookah I hope it shifts soon.

I am tired and sluggish after a night out (didn't have too much wine though) so it will take a lot of willpower to get some exercise in later and not succumb to snacks and booze!

EndlessGuineaPigCycle · 09/02/2024 17:44

Sorry you are unwell @WeirdPookah, so annoying when that happens just as you have some time off. I hope you recover quickly.

Today's menu
B Porridge with milled flax seeds and blueberries
L Mushroom & Lentil Risotto
D Barley Bowl
S Rich tea biscuits, crisps, Highlights, cashew nuts
Exercise 30 mins treadmill

My period is due soon and I have been extra hungry for the past few days. Also it's been a stressful week workwise and with my eldest DD. I am feeling proud that I haven't crumbled and eaten my feelings (too much). Good NSV!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/02/2024 19:11

Just popping back in with today's menu.

B - boiled egg and toast
L - tomato and lentil soup, homemade banana/pecan/date muffin, apple
D - lamb biryani (new recipe, a hairy biker one, very tasty).

Exercise - none, I'm totally wiped out and everyone needs a rest day...

Snacks - I'm having maltesers tonight. It's been that kind of day. But no wine, having a low calorie non-alcoholic beer instead.

LegoTherapy · 09/02/2024 20:10

Thank you for all the much needed posts after my literal wobble. I spent the rest of the week feeling better about things. The outdoor activities weigh you and I was 60kg fully clothed, coat and shoes so I was ok with that.
I'll catch up properly this weekend but just to say how much I appreciate you all for your lovely words. I defo need new swimwear.

LemonDrizzle23 · 10/02/2024 07:49

Morning! We are all about ready to start our weekend here. My aim this weekend is not to let it turn into a food free for all! My intentions are:

  • intermittent fasting on both days
  • use nutracheck and stay within calories
  • gym with DH this afternoon (DS is trying the gym's cinema club).
  • get my steps in on Sunday and some gentle stretching.

Otherwise, plans are haircuts, usual weekend sports for DS and hopefully watching the rugby this afternoon.
What is everyone else up to?

TheRealHousewife · 10/02/2024 09:06

Morning Everyone

@afaloren You’re welcome and its great that you’re still making progress! 👍👏

@ImALittlePea How did your interview go? I’m sure you aced it! Well done on your loss 👌

@rainbow616 Well done! 👍

@WeirdPookah I hope you soon feel better!

@EndlessGuineaPigCycle Not eating your feelings is so positive! Pesky hormones always try to sabotage our efforts and have a lot to answer for 👿

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Are you feeling more refreshed today? 🤞

@LegoTherapy Lovely to read you’re feeling better in yourself ❤️

I absolutely love Nutra Check! Yesterday I created a soup meal on their platform. Oodles of vegetables with added black beans and puy lentils. I’m shocked just how carby it was, albeit complex carbs but too much gives me a glucose spike. I played around with it and got it to about 20 carbs a 300g portion. Success, no spike.

Menu
Meal 1 - Vegetable, bean and lentil soup. Pecans.
Meal 2 - Steak, green beans & pepper sauce. Glass of red wine.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Wishing everyone a great weekend ❤️

I've been struggling this month. It started with a big night out, then period and now I have a cold which has knocked me out of sync. I've been indulging in wine more often which I need to stop, my chocolate cravings have come back hugely and my willpower to say no when (slim) DH suggests takeaway has disappeared. Also, feeling unwell has put a stop to the gym for a few days which hasn't helped my wellbeing.

I need to get back on it today. I will make some soup to clear the fridge and stock up more veggies and fruit. No more alcohol or sugary treats until Easter.

I'll weigh on Monday and see how bad the damage is 😔

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 10/02/2024 10:40

Morning all, still a bit weary @TheRealHousewife despite an early-ish night. Thank you for asking though.

A friend has booked us tickets for a show tonight which I could really do without! Been pottering about trying to do some jobs this morning.

Interestingly I was rubbish at drinking water yesterday, did no exercise and had some maltesers last night, and I weighed 1.5lbs more this morning than yesterday. Obviously it's just a fluctuation but interesting to see my body's response to one day of poor choices.

TheRealHousewife · 10/02/2024 13:53

@LumionaMoonsplash It sounds like a tough month so far! Try not to worry and be kinder to yourself. When we are unwell our mind and body needs a bit of nurturing and goodness. We are only just a third way into February; plenty of time to turn it around ❤️

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Hope you recover some energy and enjoy your time with your friends tonight.

TheRealHousewife · 10/02/2024 13:56

Vegetable black bean and puy lentil soup. Make a batch which will last several days.

Oh I am really ill.

I was shivering uncontrollably last night, then in bed I had a temperature and bad fever dreams that my husband had made too much hot chocolate and was wasting it by it being all around me making me too hot.

Have a whole birthday party, including full scale cake decoration to pull off tomorrow.

LemonDrizzle23 · 10/02/2024 21:59

Sorry you're feeling so rough @WeirdPookah . Stressful fever dreams!! I hope you're feeling good enough for birthday prep tomorrow 🤞🏻

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 10/02/2024 22:08

Oh I am sorry @WeirdPookah that sound grim. I hope you feel better soon. How disastrous is it to sack off the cake tomorrow - can DH do a supermarket cake run?

Soup looks lovely @TheRealHousewife any chance you could share recipe?

Ended up having lovely night out. Not too boozy or too snacky though, which is a success - definitely feel like I am changing habits. A couple of months ago I'd have added some fries to our sharing platter and squeezed in another drink or two.

LegoTherapy · 10/02/2024 22:57

@WeirdPookah I hope you are feeling better and have a dream free sleep tonight. A supermarket cake might have to suffice. Needs must Flowers

TheRealHousewife · 10/02/2024 23:29

@WeirdPookah Have plenty of fluids, ibuprofen and paracetamol. Hope you get some much needed sleep! ❤️. Send hubby to shop for the cake and get him doing anything else that's needed 👍

AnnieCambs great advice on spicing.

TheRealHousewife that soup looks delicious

I haven't posted for ages, had a very difficult week. I was really proud of myself that I didn't turn to excessive alcohol, my usual coping mechanism.

Made a couple of really nice receipes this week, a mushroom pie and nutty granola

Got to drive my dream car this weekend, (well my more realistic dream car)
a f-type, was lovely and now I want one more than ever.

Menu
B yogurt, raspberries and previously mentioned granola
L tomato soup with seeded bread strawberries and blueberries
D pesto pasta, crispy veggie mince with roasted tomatoes
S Wine and crisps

I haven't done any exercise this week, the days I'd usually exercise have been ridiculously busy.

Flowerchild547 · 11/02/2024 18:26

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

I’ve been conscious of making better choices and not needing a treat every time I leave the house! 🤣
I’m hoping to be another half stone down by the end of the month, am hoping that’s not too ambitious but I find I need to do small goal setting and have a reward in sight. I still need to get myself some new mascara and make up bits which I said I’d get when I reached 1 stone so perhaps I’ll go down that rabbit hole this evening!
