If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

I had one protein shake today ( about 300 cal) and three bowls of homemade lentil soup. I had one light workout too, half an hour.

Would you be willing to share the lentil soup recipe please? I've never been able to get it quite right, it always ends up too runny or a gloopy. Thank you.

PlumpAndGrump · 04/01/2024 22:27

I have managed today to come in under my calories and did just a smidge over 10k steps. Part of that included a walk back from Lidl where I was wearing a backpack full of groceries and carrying a bag for life full too. Definitely worked up a sweat.

Coming back and reading this thread is motivating me.

Bumblebeebum23 · 04/01/2024 22:37

Wow, I can't keep up with this new thread, but I am glad we have so many people on board. I've had an okayish week so far, but I definitely need to get myself properly focused. I'm going to continue to log my weight here on a Monday 😊

Turefu · 04/01/2024 23:17

@PlumpAndGrump It’s very simple. 1.5l water, three stock cubes, one large potato , two-three carrots chopped. 150g lentils added. Sometimes I add any veg I’ve got at home. Cook for half an hour. Done.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 04/01/2024 23:38

Hi @Bumblebeebum23 👋I just finished my birthday chocolates which wasn't good for hitting today's target but did tidy them up nicely and remove the temptation. Otherwise it was a good day so I'm still under my maintenance calories but not by as much as I'm aiming for.

@PotatoFan I also have M.E/CFS and find that the post exertion malaise is my biggest barrier to exercise. Some days I can't get out of bed so I need to be more mindful of what I'm eating as that is something I can control.

Food prep is a troublesome for me, I find im too tired to eat if there is too much prep/cooking involved. Trying to find healthy easy prep things to eat is difficult. My go to meal if I'm struggling is cereal.

I'm under my calorie goal on nutracheck 3 days running now, so I'm happy with that start.

Hi All, I will rttt later but really want to join and get my details down

SW 15.5

TW 10.9

I was thinking about what has led me to gaining so much weight over the years. Lots of difficult times, comfort eating and sharing food equally with dh. Finally feel in a good, relaxed place so ready to tackle this properly for the first time ever.

Best of luck everyone. It's such a hard task but so rewarding when we achieve

Gabriella83 · 05/01/2024 08:55

I'm loosely following slimming world. It worked for me in 2021. I lost 3 stone. I've put it back on not because slimming world doesn't work but because I've eaten way too much. I keep telling myself that I need a change for life so I'm not cutting out everything I enjoy or I'd just be depressed. Just aiming for 3 meals a day and a little treat which is better than the huge meals, take aways and constant grazing that I have been doing. Had a 2 hour walk yesterday. I know about it today. The weather looks like it'll be indoor exercise only today. I weigh everyday but Saturday is usually the day I log the weight. Just incase I don't do much exercise over the weekend. Good luck everyone.

Scrabblingaround · 05/01/2024 09:41

I have successfully got through day one of IF, which included taking the kids to McDonald's where I just had a tea... feeling pleased with my willpower. Lots of walking done too.
On to day two! I feel better and slimmer instantly because the Christmas bloating is gone.
Feeling hopeful.

I 'tidied up' my last Christmas chocs on Tuesday...

RedBoxWithABow · 05/01/2024 10:57

Day 5 of my 100 days OMAD challenge and all is still going well. Zipped trousers this morning that I couldn't fully zip on Monday so at least the bloating is gone. Had a lot of green beans and mange tout last night with some chicken and brown rice. I did have a ladle of soup too which was packed with root vegetables and a dark chocolate digestive but that all fits the one meal plan. Today will be making broccoli-steak stir-fry with brown rice noodles so it will be a bit saltier (some bloating may happen over the weekend). Interested to see where I land on my weigh-in day on Monday.

Trying to convince DH to join me in exercise as that's usually more difficult aspect of weight loss for me. How's everyone else doing?

UtahGirl12 · 05/01/2024 17:32

Feeling pretty good so far. My xmas weight is off, my cals have been under 1600 every day, plus my IF tagged of 16/8 hit and protein and fibre macros hit too. Sleeping better since ditching the Xmas alcohol and junk.

My exercise is OK, not doing a weight training class daily like I wanted to as I'm too sore, but have done Day 1 and 2 of Caroline Girvans Iron series on YT. Loving it, and Day 3 tomorrow. Managed 3 walks and 1 20 mi session on the spin bike. No yoga which is unforgivable. Going to post my weight loss on Mondays as it will keep me in check over the weekend.

KrazyboutKillian · 05/01/2024 17:49

Hi all , I started on 1st and fell off almost immediately, hoping that this will keep me on the straight and eventually narrow !
sw 14 s
will switch to kg once I work it out
height 5’4
a good 4 plus to lose

BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh · 05/01/2024 21:18

I didn’t have a day of healthy eating today, but came in under calories so happy with that.

Breakfast was two protein Weetabix with skimmed milk.
Lunch was two slices of brown bread with a banana.
Dinner was homemade chicken nuggets and chips done in the airfryer.

All very brown and beige. But delicious.

omega4ever · 05/01/2024 22:52

Hi .. I'd like to join for support and encouragement if OK.

My Bmi has just crept over 40 I'm ashamed to say and i weighted my heaviest ever 112kgs this week .

I really want to drop 25kg min in the next 6-9 months...more would be a bonus..... I am going to try and calorie count and aim for high protein low carb to start.

Please can I ask what online calorie trackers you use and like? I've used MFP before but it seems to have changed and be full of adverts now .... or Is the premium version worth getting?

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

PotatoFan · 05/01/2024 23:05

@omega4ever I use nutracheck, it’s got a UK based database

ChubbyChinook · 05/01/2024 23:19

I'm using nutracheck too, as I didn't get on well with myfitnesspal. But I noticed it says I'm on a 7 day free trial. Is nutracheck paid for after this?

PotatoFan · 05/01/2024 23:35

yeah nutracheck is paid for after the free trial

ChubbyChinook · 05/01/2024 23:41

Ah ok, thanks.

SisterAgatha · 06/01/2024 09:01

Early weigh in for me as I always take the saturday weight (although I weigh every morning)

I lost 1.4lbs 🥹

Thats a nice loss for me as Christmas was ridiculous and I am still eating chocolate and left over Christmas cake here and there.

Cant wait to see hear everyone else’s updates! Keep going guys 💪🏻

HippyChickMama · 06/01/2024 09:18

I'm back! Christmas is now done and I'm ready to get back on it. I'm taking down all of the decorations today and giving the house a good clean. I am not weighing myself just yet because I think I'll cry but I'm estimating 9lb back on. Most of that is probably from the massive macaroni cheese I made yesterday to use up all of the last bits of cheese Blush
I'll weigh myself in a week's time and take it from there but the tracking starts today.
Welcome to all the new posters, let's hope we can all end 2024 fitter, healthier and happier with ourselves 🥂🍾

Realist2022 · 06/01/2024 09:55

Can I join pls. Weighed on Tuesday and I am 112.7kg (17st 10lbs) and my ideal weight is somewhere around 11st 10lbs - clearly that is a long term aim but you have to start somewhere.

I pay a fortune for a gym with small group PT sessions and then go intermittently and eat too much cheese, bread and potatoes and combinations of ....

I know that the way to lose weight is through diet rather than exercise but find I feel so much better with the exercise it keeps me focussed on the diet. So will persevere.

Trying to keep calories at a daily average of around 2.200 and walk 10,000 steps as well as two weights sessions and two cardio sessions a week.

I am 46 and I am getting to the point where if I don't do this now I am beginning to think I may never do so. My DM died this year from Alzheimer's and I know that weight increases your risk and my resting heart rate which has always been low (borderline too low) has shot up to about 65bpm (from 50ish) so it is definitely impacting me.

Need to pull myself together and make it stick this time. 7 years ago I lost 6 stone and then steadily put it back on.

Incidentally there was a really interesting programme on R4 yesterday about weight loss. You can find it here: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001tscq?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile

Will be weighing on Tuesday as that is when I weighed this week ....

Good luck all.

Realist2022 · 06/01/2024 10:03

And wine .... that is my other issue ... I forget the calories in wine .... but I am doing Dry January which is a good thing this month and then need to make sure I don't overcompensate for the rest of the year ....

Welcome! Wine is also my enemy so I'm also doing dry jan. I was drinking a lot last few months (Christmas/divorce..) and thought I'd find it difficult but weirdly so far so good. I'm really enjoying the benefits of feeling rested and 'normal' rather than hanging out my arse most days!
