indeed @Menora I don't disagree, but possibly useful context - I took the title of the thread based on the previous thread some of us were on which turned out to be a lovely supportive thread. I didn't lose 5 stone, I lost 4. Four is good (for me) and I don't consider myself a failure for not losing 5 stone. But now I want to do it again. I will again be aiming for 5, I will probably 'fail' again. But losing another 4 stone is the kind of 'failure' I'm happy to live with.
I generally prefer working in kilos because the maths is nice
Generally people should be aiming for 1/2 a kilo (1.1lb) a week which is a 500 kcal deficit a day.
If you've quite a lot to lose a kilo (2.2lb) a week is perfectly healthy and sensible amount to aim for. That is a 1000 kcal deficit a day. = 26kg (4 stone in 6 months)
1kg a week fat burn = 1000 kcal a day deficit (average)
This is clearly a VERY ask if your total daily energy expenditure is 2600 kcal than if it is 1600 kcal.
32kg in 26 weeks is 1.25kg a week. which is an average calorie deficit of 1250. That is absolutely not the rate at which you should be aiming to lose weight if you are 32kg away from your target weight.
But even if I succeed in losing 32kg I will still not have reached the halfway point between where I was and where I'm trying to get to.
Absolutely no pressure on anyone as to how fast you should be aiming to lose weight. I would like the priority always to be getting healthier bodies and healthier habits.
Super happy for anyone who likes the sound of this to join us. Weigh ins have typically been once a week on Monday.
