If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

You're braver than me@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk I wouldn't be brave enough to wear a bikini. At the moment I have a 2 piece swimwear set that's big knickers and a floaty longer top. Previous to that I had an all in one swimsuit with a skirt attached. Both had quite good boob support. Whatever you wear I think that confidence is key. If you feel confident it shines through.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 04/04/2024 17:59

If you feel confident it shines through. Yeah i think that that's great advice, I left it a bit late and there wasn't a huge amount of choice in the shops I went round.

On holiday so I'll keep it quick but I did it and I'm a bit proud of myself. I wore my size 20 bikini. Tomorrow (fingers crossed) I'll be doing the aerial adventure tree trekking. I've lost 0.9kg in the last week and have been under the weight limit every day for the last 4 days but am nevertheless a bit freaked out.

Enjoy your hols

Morred · 09/04/2024 09:28

Enjoy, @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk ! I’m also on holiday this week (with no scales) so trying not to obsess too much. Enjoy the trek!!

Bumblebeebum23 · 09/04/2024 09:33

Have an amazing time, @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk 😄 and well done on some great NSVs 👙

I've been staying with family in Worcester, so I haven't been able to weigh. However, I have been absolutely dreadful food wise since the school holidays began, so I don't imagine it will be a pretty sight! I'm back home tomorrow, so I will weigh in, face the music, and try and make the end of the holiday healthier than the beginning!

Gabriella83 · 10/04/2024 08:05

We're away for a few days. I did weigh Saturday before we left I'd lost a lb. I hate to think how many lbs I've gained since. I'm looking forward to getting home and getting back on track.

Bumblebeebum23 · 10/04/2024 10:42

So a slight gain 12st 5lbs and 3/4 today. Definitely not as bad as expected, but equally not going in the right direction, so I need to get my head back in the game.

Out for our 14th wedding anniversary meal tonight, but hoping to get back to my usual routine as of tomorrow! Fingers crossed for a loss next Monday x

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 10/04/2024 17:54

Happy anniversary @Bumblebeebum23 have a lovely time.

Thank you 😊

mondaytosunday · 11/04/2024 18:22

Hey I'm in on this thread too!
Started Monday and goal is to lose 28kg by beach holiday on June 25. That is over 60lbs. Sadly, that will only bring me to the same weight I was when I last went pre pandemic, and no where near what I should be. But if I get there good.
Short term goal is to lose 6kg (from today, as I've lost 3.6kg since Monday - I know it's mostly water) by April 30. Then I've got a trip to celebrate a friends birthday and will not be dieting for those two and a half days. Hopefully it will not be too much of a blip.
To be totally honest I'm worried about fitting in the easyJet seat for my June trip. Or rather having the belt close. If I get to my goal I will be ok. I know they do extension belts but I would see it as a personal total bottom of the barrel low point in my life if I needed one.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 11/04/2024 18:28

@mondaytosunday over 4 stone in less than 3 months doesn't feel like a realistic target. I don't want to discourage you at all, I truly want you to achieve your goals, I just don't want you to set yourself up for disappointment.

mondaytosunday · 11/04/2024 18:38

Oh I'm an old hand at this! I know it's a tough ask and probably won't get there but it's my goal. I'm not going to fall into a vat of chocolate if I don't meet it I assure you!

TesticularHeft · 12/04/2024 12:13

Jesus @mondaytosunday that's quite the challenge! Excited to hear how you get on! I have a similar but easier target after seeing that if I lost 2kg a week by July I would be 2st 6lb lighter. Excellent I thought. Worked my arse off this week. 8km per day on a cross trainer (26k steps one day) and ate better than ever, low carb and chicken for breakfast, not a single snack. I know it's Monday to Friday and not long but I've lost 1 pathetic kg! Today I'm really hungry. I'm determined to keep at it and weigh myself tomorrow and Monday and if there's 2kg (I expected more if I'm honest) I'll be happy but aarrrrrgggghhhhh! If nothing after two weeks I'm diving into food and never looking back.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 12/04/2024 12:49

@TesticularHeft you're going too hard and expecting too much. 1 kg is 2.2 lbs in 5 days. Expected and recommended weightloss for sustained weight loss is 1-2lbs a week. So you have lost loads.

If you go this hard and end up hungry and tired and fed up then you'll binge and give up.

The most sustainable approach is a 500 calorie deficit daily based on your TdEE and 3 moderate 30 min exercise sessions a week to build muscle mass and raise metabolism.

If you eat a moderate deficit then you won't feel as hungry and won't be as tempted to break the diet.

It took months, years even decades to put the weight on, it will take take to take it off, you need to plan for a long term and manageable change of lifestyle.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 12/04/2024 21:16

hey @TesticularHeft have you calculated your total daily energy expenditure? Burning 2kg of fat per week would require a 2000 kcal a day average deficit generally this isn't possible. Recalibrating what you think of as a good week would probably be sensible in achieving your long term goals.

OP posts:
TesticularHeft · 12/04/2024 21:32

@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk not for a while but it was 1645 ish with the 500cal deficit and I don't expect it's changed. To clarify, I'm expected a bigger loss this week because I am typically a water logged carb monster (perhaps that should be my next username) so with my excellent eating I assumed that would go rather than specifically losing fat. I'm weighing myself each Saturday with those machines with fat measuring handles (all to be taken with a pinch of salt) so will see if there's any difference in my fat free mass.

@FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain I agree with everything you said but I want to go in for the kill at first as I had a big push in my personal life and I know it will help me long term. I can't stay this large and it be healthy for me, so a short sharp kick with self control to ensure no binging for a week is where I am. I've mostly not been hungry and proud of myself. I thought I might crack today but I didn't. I've not binged which is a massive step for me. Tomorrow is my last day of 8k. Rest Sunday. New plan for Monday. Maybe weights but I tend to bulk up with weights and unfortunately not from muscle 😂

To sum up, a lot of mental progress. That's what's been holding me back. Let's hope it sticks.

TesticularHeft · 12/04/2024 21:34

In addition, previously a moderate deficit has left me like a starved maniac because my mind wasn't there so I felt the need to binge regardless of a surplus or very slight deficit and never got to a moderate deficit.

I was frustrated this morning as I can eat what I want and only gain slowly so I was thinking I may as well be fat and happy with that misery we all know. I'm back fighting fit this evening.

Chouxpastryishard · 12/04/2024 22:48

What I find is I stick to it when I don’t have visitors, don’t have to go out or go on holiday. The minute my routine deviates I start to go a bit off track and then that’s it. It’s so frustrating.

TesticularHeft · 13/04/2024 08:13

Well, bad news. I'm 0.2kg heavier than last Saturday and 1kg lighter than Monday. It was a heavy Sunday 😂

TesticularHeft · 13/04/2024 08:50

97.4 2/4
94.5 6/4 PG
97.1 8/4
96.0 9/4
93.3 10/4 PG
95.6 10/4
95.85 11/4
94.5 12/4 PG
95.95 12/4
94.3 13/4 PG
96 13/4

I'm not sure if this will be spaced as required when I press post but PG is when I weigh using the scales at PureGym and the other is at home. They're obviously out but I'm logging both to hopefully see the decrease.

Gabriella83 · 13/04/2024 11:37

Weigh in day for me and I've gained 2lb this week. Not bad seen as when I got home from our break on Wednesday the scales were saying plus 5.75lb🙈 I've been back on track since Thursday so hopefully this week will be good.
SW 18st 9.5lb
CW 16st 12lb
Hope everyone has a good week.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 13/04/2024 13:30

@TesticularHeft water logged carb monster made me lol thanks and yes that makes sense.
