Hi all,
I hope it's OK to join. I've read through this thread and found it inspiring; I can relate to so much of it.
A little about me, I will turn 46 this year. I have been overweight/obese for probably the last 15 years and I don't want that to be me for the next 15 years. Exercising is difficult as I require knee surgery and if I try to do anything higher impact than walking it would likely result in my knee giving way. I have high blood pressure that is controlled by medication and I'd like to see if losing the excess weight means I can either reduce or come off the medication completely.
Now to the stats, ugh!
SW: 15st 6 (26/2)
CW: 14st 3 (30/3)
TW1: 12st 1 (BMI in overweight category, under 30)
TW2: 10st 1 (BMI in ideal weight category, under 25)
TW3: 9st (or as close to this as possible without looking ill)
So, in 5 weeks, I have lost 1st 3lbs and whilst I am so happy with that, I am sad with how far I still have to go to even be out of the obese category. All my own fault though, so I have to own this and it is only me that can do something about it.
Eating 3 regular meals doesn't seem to work for me - not enough calorie deficit bearing in mind I struggle to exercise - so I am currently having a cup of coffee in the morning, a cup of tea mid morning, home made soup for lunch, cup of tea mid afternoon and lean meat and salad for dinner, with snacks being things like red peppers, carrots, cucumber and small amounts of fruit. I also drink at least 1.5-2 litres of water through the day. At least 4 days a week I will skip lunch (very busy and senior job role, so this isn't unusual, but previously I'd have grabbed a chocolate bar or biscuits with a cuppa between meetings).
Aware what I am doing is probably towards the more extreme end, but it is working currently and the results so far are motivating me to continue.
Good luck all x
