If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

First week done and lost a pound which I am a bit disappointed about, but it's going the right way at least.

Adooree · 25/03/2024 09:25

Started diet 11/02/24

SW 16 St 1.5 lbs
CW 14st 10.5 lbs
TW 9 St
Lost 2.5 lbs this week

Total 19lbs in 6 weeks . Happy with that so far.

Morred · 25/03/2024 10:54

I'm still battling the cough of death, so maintaining for now rather than losing. Trying not to eye up too many easter chocolates!

Well done on your losses, everyone - we've got this!

BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh · 25/03/2024 16:53

Hi all.

A good week for me with the scales moving by over 2kg after a couple of weeks of very small losses.

I’m now down 36kg/5st 9lbs in the 33 weeks since starting my diet, and down 12kg (1st 12lbs) since joining this thread at the start of Jan (12 weeks ago). Averaging out to a steady 1kg a week which I’m delighted with.

Hope everyone’s doing well xx

Scrabblingaround · 25/03/2024 22:15

Well done all. Sorry you're disappointed @Chouxpastryishard hopefully your body will get the message this week and drop a nice amount to spur you on.

My Monday weigh in -

Start weight 21st
Current weight 18st 9lb
Goal weight 11st
First target 17st

Lost 3lb this week
33lb total loss.

6lb away from getting under 40bmi, hopefully I'll get there in 2 or 3 weeks. I also feel like I'm within touching distance of the 17's... I've not been there in a decade. Exciting.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 26/03/2024 08:58

Well done @BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh I can't even pretend that it doesn't make me happy when other prople have good weeks.

So here we are, the scales bounced back up and knowing they would is still somehow not really enough to take the sting out of the fact they did. The time of the month is screwing with my weight my mood and my appetite so it's pretty hard to establish what the short term trend is in how much fat I'm burning.

There are two points I did want to share, 1 I'm going on a centre parcs holiday in 2 weeks and am booked in for an activity I am currently 1kg too heavy to be allowed to do. They weigh you before you do it so failing the weigh in would be a total humiliation. I HAVE to really focusfor the next couple of weeks to lose as much as I can to give myself a bit of a buffer. And 2 a nsv I suppose, I have worn the same bracelet night and day since my early twenties, it is the sort that has a catch rather than a bangle, and it was unthinkable that it should come off accidentally. It was adjusted to fit me perfectly, lose enough to me comfortable but impossible to come off unintentionally. It now comes off and it's blowing my mind, I would have bet good money that I didn't have any fat to lose on my hands but nevertheless they've shrunk.

I seem to have hit a plateau again, so I'm religiously tracking every calorie and today I'm starting C25K again. I've never made it past week 3 before, despite keeping it up for several months just repeating week 3. I'm hoping now I'm nearly 3 stone lighter it will be easier.
SW: 17st 12
CW: 15st 2
TW: 10st 7 ish

Scrabblingaround · 26/03/2024 18:11

Sorry you've not had a great week @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk everything crossed for getting the weight off before centre parks. I've got to get on a plane in two weeks for a work trip and I'm hoping squashing into the tiny ryan air seat will be less humiliating than the last time I did it....

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 26/03/2024 18:21

Airplane seats - ouch. I feel your pain. good luck.

Sorry you've had a difficult week @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk and sending all the encouragement and compassion that you send all of us when we are feeling a little defeated. You've been an absolute inspiration, and you've got this 💪 (and brilliant NSV btw).

Well done on the couch to 5k @HippyChickMama. I gave it a go once and could never face it again 🤣

And well done to everyone on your continued commitment and perseverance.

HippyChickMama · 27/03/2024 10:25

Thanks @Bumblebeebum23, I was dreading starting again but I enjoyed it and managed all 8 x 60 second runs. And I've lost 1lb on the scales this morning, not sure that's down to the run though! Keep going everyone

HippyChickMama · 28/03/2024 14:37

Another 1lb off this morning, I have reached my next mini goal of 40lbs off! Another C25K run later today. I've started taking turmeric and black pepper capsules, a friend told me about them and I was sceptical but there is some scientific evidence that they help with metabolism. Also, if anyone is interested, I've found a couple of options for lunch out that are low in calories this week. Smoky Cajun Rice with BBQ Chicken & Sweetcorn Fritters from Greggs (253 calories) and Aldi Eat and Go Chicken and Wholewheat Pasta Layered Salad (345 calories), both really nice and very filling

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 28/03/2024 14:42

Well done @HippyChickMama 40lb is an amazing accomplishment!

HippyChickMama · 28/03/2024 15:01

Thank you @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain, only another 63lb to go!

Bumblebeebum23 · 28/03/2024 19:53

Well done @HippyChickMama 👏 😀 x

EnglishGirlApproximately · 29/03/2024 09:24

Checking in for the first time in a few weeks, sorry I've been totally unfocused but I'm reading all of your posts and trying to get back in the zone.
Despite rubbish tracking I am still managing to lose at my target of 1/2 lb per week so hopefully that means some things are becoming habits!

SW 226lb

15/01. 224lb

22/01. 223lb

02/02. 220lb

09/02 219lb

16/02 219lb

01/03 218lb

29/03 216lb

I think I'm learning that I can still have treats (love a coffee and cake catch up with DS) but something has the give elsewhere if I do. That feels ok and like something I can maintain.
Going to look around a gym next week - a proper old school weight lifting one as I can't bear the chain gyms. Well done everyone on your progress 👏

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 29/03/2024 11:40

Well done @Bumblebeebum23 nice to see you @EnglishGirlApproximately it's a truely lovely feeling when you get on the scales for the first time after a couple of three weeks of not trying so hard and you've still lost. Like you say changing habits is really important moving forward.

Sorry I was a bit down, as of this morning's weigh in I am light enough to do my activity ( tree top adventure) But remain keen to try to lose more to give myself enough of a buffer to not stress about the weigh in. I was looking stuff up though and if I lose 1 more kilo I will be 5 stone lighter than the last time I went to Centre Parks. I don't know why exactly but that made me cry and I thought I'd share.

MooFroo · 30/03/2024 06:07

Hi guys hope ok to join? Seems like a lovely place for some support and learning x

ive was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic last year and now have high blood pressure too - no meds yet as have said I can control with lifestyle changes.

After ignoring the diagnosis and getting even fatter, I now know I need to fix things as I’m feeling the symptoms

All very doable but need mindset and accountability support please!

weighed yesterday and I’ve lost 8lbs since last weighed myself at start of January. It’s happened in the last month where I’ve stopped snacks, most takeaways and junk like biccies and eating lots more fruit, protein, nuts with occasional little treats. It’s a nice NSV and my little secret so far as it’s not enough to make a visible difference to anyone wise.

i was 201lbs the other day and goal is 150lbs by the end of the year
first time ever I’ve created a spreadsheet to map out projected loss at 1.5lbs a week knowing it will fluctuate, but really helpful to see what I could lose with focus and dedication to changing my habits to change my life.

Will do Daily morning weigh in to get weekly avg loss.
now food intake and portion control is much better, I will be adding in walking more and plan to use my bike that’s been in the garage for years.

The biggest challenge has always, is the consistency and sticking to things. I can start strong and then give up after a couple of days 😩

but like others have said this time, it is about my health and staying alive longer rather than how I look!

Gabriella83 · 30/03/2024 06:35

Welcome @MooFroo! I hope you find this group as helpful as I have! Weigh in day for me today and I've gained 2.5lb! I'm disappointed it's my first gain of the year so far and I did it spectacularly😅 I knew I would gain as we had our Easter roast dinner yesterday instead of Sunday as we're going to be busy. That as well as period bloat.
SW 18st 9.5lb
CW 16st.11.5lb
Hope you reach your goal@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk you're braver than me going on a tree top challenge! DS wants me to join them on a roller coaster when we're on holiday. I still have time to decide.... I want to look first to see how big the seats are first. Hope everyone has a good week!

Bunnyjo · 30/03/2024 08:54

Hi all,

I hope it's OK to join. I've read through this thread and found it inspiring; I can relate to so much of it.

A little about me, I will turn 46 this year. I have been overweight/obese for probably the last 15 years and I don't want that to be me for the next 15 years. Exercising is difficult as I require knee surgery and if I try to do anything higher impact than walking it would likely result in my knee giving way. I have high blood pressure that is controlled by medication and I'd like to see if losing the excess weight means I can either reduce or come off the medication completely.

Now to the stats, ugh!

SW: 15st 6 (26/2)

CW: 14st 3 (30/3)

TW1: 12st 1 (BMI in overweight category, under 30)

TW2: 10st 1 (BMI in ideal weight category, under 25)

TW3: 9st (or as close to this as possible without looking ill)

So, in 5 weeks, I have lost 1st 3lbs and whilst I am so happy with that, I am sad with how far I still have to go to even be out of the obese category. All my own fault though, so I have to own this and it is only me that can do something about it.

Eating 3 regular meals doesn't seem to work for me - not enough calorie deficit bearing in mind I struggle to exercise - so I am currently having a cup of coffee in the morning, a cup of tea mid morning, home made soup for lunch, cup of tea mid afternoon and lean meat and salad for dinner, with snacks being things like red peppers, carrots, cucumber and small amounts of fruit. I also drink at least 1.5-2 litres of water through the day. At least 4 days a week I will skip lunch (very busy and senior job role, so this isn't unusual, but previously I'd have grabbed a chocolate bar or biscuits with a cuppa between meetings).

Aware what I am doing is probably towards the more extreme end, but it is working currently and the results so far are motivating me to continue.

Good luck all x
