If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

Hi everyone,

Hoping I can join you?
I started eating better, just generally taking care of myself which I guess I haven't done since the pandemic, about a month ago.
I was 18st10lb. This Monday just gone I weighed 17stone9lb. My long term goal is 12stone so obviously I've got a mountain to climb!!! Super happy with my first 15lbs off though!
My first medium range goal is to get under 16stone for the end of June, when I'm going on holiday with the family.

Well done to everyone for their weight loss so far!

Gabriella83 · 13/04/2024 19:20

Welcome@whatthejuice! Your starting weight and target weight is almost identical to mine. Well done on losing your first 15lb that's fantastic 👏

Fell off the wagon over Easter. It wasn't the chocolate - it was the week off work that did it. Just a change of routine and the sense of being "allowed" to relax... I got out of the habit of logging my calories and into the habit of having "just one more" glass of wine. And of course, then weigh-in day came and I was too scared to weigh. "No," I thought, "I'll work extra hard this week to get back on track so next week's weigh-in will be more encouraging..." and then did nothing of the sort.

But it's another weigh-in day and I've bitten the bullet. I knew I'd have put weight back on, but it's not as bad as it could have been. Only half a pound. That's manageable so I'm back here for accountability. I'm going to start logging everything again today and I'll see you next week to report that the damage is undone.

Lost another kilo, so 4.8kg down since last Monday. I know it's mostly water and it is also an indicator of just how much weight I need to lose (a lot). I'm sticking to 1500 cals a day and walking more (dogs are benefiting). I've cut out alcohol.
I'm self employed and wfh part time so have the luxury of eating any time I want. Currently eating two meals a day around 11.30am and 7pm (when my DD joins me). I use My Fitness Pal and weigh everything. Short term goal is to lose 5kg by the 30th, when I go on the birthday mini break.
Before when I've lost large amounts of weight I've averaged just over a kilo loss a week, which is obviously a much more realistic goal. After my summer holidays I will be aiming for that til GW (80kg).

Tomorrow is the beginning of week 16 for me so thought I'd do a bit of a summary.

Started 1st Jan 2024 at 225lb, 16st 1lb, 102kg
Current weight - 198lb, 14st 2lb, 90kg

BMI has dropped from 34 to 30.

According to my scales:
Body fat reduced by 3%
Muscle mass increased by 2%

According to Apple health my stats have reduced in the following areas:

  • average respiration rate
  • avg resting heart rate
  • walking heart rate
Bumblebeebum23 · 14/04/2024 22:27

That's amazing @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain 👏 you've done so well. Do you feel better for it?

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 14/04/2024 22:43

I've just weighed which marks end of 4th week for me and I dropped another 2.5 lbs. Really happy with that! Onto the next week.
I've got a couple of social things next weekend so I'm planning on not drinking and being the designated driver!

Bumblebeebum23 · 15/04/2024 07:47

Monday weigh-in and still 12st 5lbs and ending the Easter break where I began! But I guess maintaining is better than a gain. I have been back on track this week, and I'm hoping being back in my usual routine of work/school will continue to help.

That's amazing @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain 👏 you've done so well. Do you feel better for it?

I do, have noticed I'm sleeping better and some of the pre-diabetes symptoms I had started getting have gone. No longer waking up during the night to pee and no thrush since I cut back on carbs.

Bumblebeebum23 · 15/04/2024 08:10

That's great to hear @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain and reminder to me of why I started this journey in the first place. Yes, I want to feel more confident in my outward appearance, but ultimately I want to be healthy 😊

Morred · 15/04/2024 12:47

Hi all! I had about 10 days off over Easter, including a week away with family. I deliberately didn't calorie count or think about a 'diet', and there were a lot of meals, drinks, etc. I did average 12k steps a day for the week, though, so I must have been doing some good.

I've put on just over two and a half kilos since my last weigh-in before Easter. I am really hoping some of that is water weight and will come back off quickly. I'm back at work today, and back on my plan, so hopefully the scales will shift in the right direction soon.

I would like to lose more weight before summer, and I turn 40 in October, so that's my long-term goal!

SW (Jan 2024): 95.5kg
CW (Apr 2024): 89.1kg
GW (current goal): 75kg
(Lowest weight since Jan: 86.4kg)

Scrabblingaround · 15/04/2024 12:51

Hello...

I missed last week's weigh in because I was travelling. And then I was in Italy.... so I haven't lost any weight at all. BUT I haven't gained any either.

Finding it tough mentally to be back on track eating-wise, but I am. In the past this is what always does a diet in for me - a holiday or event that I go off plan for, then I never get back on... not this time!

So this is me....

Start weight 21st
Current weight 18st 8lb
Goal weight 11st
First target 17st

Lost 0lb this week
34lb total loss.

Nelephant · 16/04/2024 19:00

Hi..I can't find my original post but I posted during the holidays saying I was going to start when schools go back.. well they're back and I've actually managed to get to the end of day 2! (I'll usually be great and then binge in the first evening and give up!)

Started a new job with new hours and new routine and no longer am able to pick and nibble or go for coffees and cake some mornings. I have to have a packed lunch and no opportunity to pop to shops so I think this is the reason why I've managed it. It's making me feel really hopeful I will get somewhere (although very aware that it's not losing weight by will power and hard work but actually, circumstances and no longer having the freedom)

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 16/04/2024 19:54

Hey there @Nelephant That sounds great. It's all about changing your habits and persevering rather than giving up when you have set backs.

Hey @Scrabblingaround I hope you had a lovely trip. Well done for not gaining weight on holiday! It can be so easy to do when you're eating out a lot.

mondaytosunday · 17/04/2024 09:45

5.9kg down. I know this pace won't keep up (this is in 8 days). But so far to go.
Agree with y'all so hard not to gain over holidays. I'm off on 60th birthday trip (not me, passed that milestone a couple years ago) - nine of us sharing a lovely airbnb. I only know the birthday girl. We've been discussing menu and what we shall all bring and I'm making lasagna first night, it will be chilli the following then out to dinner last night, full English breakfasts/brunch planned for the mornings (could we pick a more calorific menu)?. I'm not holding to my diet at all for those two and a half days, and hoping my trip to Spain in the summer will get me right back in track as soon as I get back.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 17/04/2024 16:22

Have a great trip @mondaytosunday

So I've totally lost my mojo and haven't lost anything since I weighed in three weeks ago. I've given myself massive kick up the arse and signed up to a gym - a proper old school weightlifting one 😬 Went last night for induction and my twelve week programme starts tomorrow so fingers crossed I get my food intake under control too.
Still here and reading all of your ups and downs, just not been in the next head space this month for various reasons.

fitnfine · 19/04/2024 10:52

That sounds like a great idea! Having a supportive community can make a big difference in your weight loss journey. Online forums, social media groups, and fitness apps often have communities where you can connect with others who are also working towards their goals. You might also consider joining local fitness classes or groups where you can meet like-minded individuals. Having a supportive community can provide motivation, accountability, and encouragement along the way.

Nelephant · 19/04/2024 18:28

"haven't lost anything since I weighed in three weeks ago" does that mean you have maintained for 3 weeks straight? If so that is an accomplishment itself!!

I've been good all week, with a wobble last night which I'm going to ignore and not let it throw me. I usually would have thought bugger it I'll pig out til Monday and start again but it's only me it's buggering up.

I don't think I've lost any yet but I don't feel as bloated as normal, I'm tempted to get some posh scales that do body fat/water etc, might be interesting (if not then a shock factor!)

Gabriella83 · 20/04/2024 08:33

Weigh in day for me. I lost 3lb.
SW 18st 9.5lb
CW 16st 9lb
Finally back to my lowest weight of the year so far so now I feel like I'm properly back on track. Family wedding in 5 weeks and I'd like to be in the 15s. My original aim was to be in the 14s. That's not going to happen! In the past I've lost weight fast and it wasn't sustainable. I'd lose 2 stone in 2 months and go back to old eating habits. This time feels different. It's been slow and I don't lose much each month but hopefully it will mean that I'll reach my goal in a year or so and keep it off. Hope everyone has a good week!
