If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

Hi all, I had a birthday dinner on Friday and had friends here for dinner last night. This morning I did a 30 min yoga session and 3k on the cross trainer followed by some weights, all in the hope of counteracting an indulgent weekend😄
I'm back to IF today again and see how I get on when I weigh in on Thursday

Runssometimes · 10/03/2024 13:09

Sounds great @Sionnachrua88 i don’t think I’ve ever used a cross trainer. Is it good for raising heart rate? But you got your strength training in so that is great.

I went for a 555 second run in the rain today, which is the longest length of time I’ve run continuously in a few months. Feel pretty good and have impressed myself I didn’t sack it off. I’ve eaten really well this week, mostly vegan whole food.

Mother’s Day brunch was pretty healthy and homemade (not by me) but I also was given a bottle of sparkling wine with it so drank half of that, nothing now till dinner which I’m planning will be ramen noodles or something veg-packed.

happy Mother’s Day to those of you it applies to!

Sionnachrua88 · 10/03/2024 14:19

@Runssometimes it's great for raising heart rate and working up a sweat. I only managed 2.5k this morning but it's better than nothing. I hate formal cardio with a passion but I can tolerate the cross trainer🙂 I'd rather do Irish dancing but I'm afraid with my weight I'd knacker my knees😂

Runssometimes · 10/03/2024 14:26

@Sionnachrua88 i fully believe you should do what you enjoy as you’ll stick at it. I love running but I find it so hard, I feel like a boss after every run though, no matter how short and nothing touches the sides for getting my heart rate up. Never ran as a kid and have done couch to 5k three times now, I love the mental clarity I get, thought distractions gone on a run and usually end up stopping cause I pull or strain something.

I like walking and cycling. Hate gyms. Hate yoga classes as I find them stressful as I can’t do the poses with tight hips and shoulders. But like yoga with Adrienne at home sometimes. Done the odd weight class and liked that. Hate Zumba or anything requiring coordination. Used to do Irish dancing as a kid, no way have I the stamina now. i also know what you mean about knees, mine creak but weirdly running seems to help them as long as I wear the good trainers.

Hi everyone - can I join? For full disclosure I'm also planning on taking Mounjaro, so understand if this isn't the group for me. But SW is 20st13 so I have quite a long way to go and whilst I understand what I need to do to lose weight (and have done this successfully in the past) I seem to lose my way consistently
So trying some to help. Im hoping that the combination of medication, exercise and calorie deficit will make a difference.
Is it ok if I join you too?

Runssometimes · 11/03/2024 07:32

Bumblebeebum23 · 11/03/2024 07:51

Hi all,

I have had an absolutely shit week in all parts of my life. I won't go into it all, but let's just say it culminated in walking in the rain in floods of tears on Mother's Day yesterday!

As a result, I have spent Thursday-Sunday in "Fuck it" mode and fallen into the trap of comfort eating crisps, cake, bread, bowls of cereal etc.....

Anyway, I woke up this morning with the intention of avoiding the scales and avoiding this group but something told me I need to break the pattern so here I am. I am back up to 12st 12lb so +3.5lbs from my lowest and feeling very low.

Thank you for sticking by me with what feels like a few weeks of negativity. I really am serious about getting healthy, but as we have said before, it's not always as easy as calories in/calories out.

Fresh start all round and hopeful for a calmer and happier week.

Runssometimes · 11/03/2024 08:05

@Bumblebeebum23 i know exactly what you mean about setbacks. But you can do this. You deserve to love your body and yourself and today is another day. And you did get a walk in yesterday at least, despite the rain so that was a very good choice.

Very well done getting back on the scales. I hope you have a much better week this week.

Bumblebeebum23 · 11/03/2024 08:12

Thank you @Runssometimes I appreciate your compassion x

Hurryupharry · 11/03/2024 08:30

@Bumblebeebum23 sorry to hear that your week wasn’t good and yesterday sounds extra tough. At times like this it’s important to be kind and patient with yourself. 💕
I’ve still not been able to get myself back into a routine with diet and exercise. I have avoided the scales for a while but braved it on Saturday. I’m +5kg from my low pre Christmas. I don’t know what weight I would need to see on the scales to jolt me back into action. We have had a number of celebrations and my motivation to go to the gym has virtually disappeared- despite it literally being at the end of my road! When I read about the amazing losses and the focus of posters on here I am inspired by you. Maybe I need to start with reducing some of the less good habits I have fallen back into!
Have a fabulous week everyone. 💪🏻😊

Bumblebeebum23 · 11/03/2024 08:52

Thank you, @Hurryupharry. It's interesting that we started around the same time and are both finding it difficult now after being on track for so long. I we both re-find our motivation and keep moving forward because I know we can both do this 💪 Thank you for your kind words and for sharing where you are at too xxx

Gabriella83 · 11/03/2024 09:11

Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time@Bumblebeebum23 well done for getting on the scales this morning. Would have been so easy to avoid them. Everyone has been doing so well and setbacks happen but the difference is how we deal with the setbacks. The past me would have seen one bad day/ week as an excuse to give up as I have done too many times to count. Hope everyone has a good week.

Gabriella83 · 11/03/2024 09:18

I sorted through my wardrobe the other day. Kept about 50%, sent about 35%to the charity shop and 15% was binned. Now I have a new issue. The clothes I've kept all fit but are mostly winter/spring clothes. I own just 2 dresses for summer. I hope to be slimmer by the summer but now have the task of wtf do I wear all of which I need to buy. Made me realise I never wore anything that different in the summer before just kept covered up!

Scrabblingaround · 11/03/2024 09:29

Monday weigh in

Start weight 21st
Current weight 19st 1lb
Goal weight 11st

Lost 3lb this week
27lb total loss.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 11/03/2024 11:26

Happy monday everyone starting with the most recent and trying to work backwards through everything I've missed, well done @Scrabblingaround you're doing so well. that 2 stone mark is just around the corner.

@Gabriella83 great work on sorting through your wardrobe, it's a good thing to do. You still have the same amount of nice things that fit you it's just easier to find them without everything else in the way. I don't envy you the job of clothes shopping but I need smaller clothes is usually the nicest kind of clothes shopping ime.

@Bumblebeebum23 I'm so sorry to hear you had such a bad time recently. I agree completely with @Hurryupharry setbacks happen but the difference is how we deal with the setbacks. Resting is different than quitting, well done for getting on the scales well done for being here. Clearly it is entirely right and proper that losing weight isn't going to be your top priority every week of your life. The key is to not let the setbacks set you back too far and to get back to creating a deficit however small as soon as you can. Virtual hug for all the stuff you're dealing with.

That said hi there @Hurryupharry nice to see you, it's harder to get into the swing of swings than it is to keep going when it's working but you're here and reducing bad habits is a great place to start.

I'm a day late weighing-in because we had a weekend away for a wedding. There was obviously a lot of food and drink involved so I took a break from calorie counting although I did try to moderate my intake a little bit. (Turned down starters, left a bit of dessert on the plate, drank lots of water between glasses of wine etc...)
I was still nervous about weighing today but I must have burnt a lot of calories dancing - I'm 1.5lb down from last week and I'm now under 14st for the first time since June 2021!
I've progressed way more than I thought I would in two months. Total loss is now 12lb. I am starting to feel hopeful that a healthy weight might actually be achievable after all. Smile

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 11/03/2024 12:12

nice job @HearMeSnore that 1 stone mark is getting closer.

the credit should go to @Gabriella83 for the quote setbacks happen but the difference is how we deal with the setbacks @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk I didn’t want to own something that someone else had so eloquently said 🥰
Step One of my new push - a moderate breakfast and just back from the gym with my daughter 💪🏻
Step Two- drink lots of water at work , a salad based dinner and avoid snacking through boredom/habit later. 🙏🏻
