If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

I don't even know how to begin. I simply have no control over what I eat, and my workplace provides snacks. I'm thinking perhaps replacing my evening meal with a wheetabix?

thesleepyhoglet · 25/02/2024 22:47

I want to try and loose a stone and keep it off. Since having a C section I've got bigger and if I don't start getting some control now, I won't ever.

Bumblebeebum23 · 26/02/2024 07:36

Monday weigh in: 12st 9lbs....so same as I was on Thursday but 2lb down since last Monday ☺️ I actually saw 12st 7 & 3/4lbs on the scales on Saturday morning but had a very indulgent weekend for my friend's birthday so happy with maintaining my 3 stone loss at 12st 9lbs 😊

Back on track as of yesterday and hoping for another good week.

SW: 15st 9lbs
CW: 12st 9lbs
TW: 10st

Have a great week, all xxxx

Bumblebeebum23 · 26/02/2024 07:45

@thesleepyhoglet what does the rest of your day look like food wise? I don't think I could maintain having weetabix every evening unless I was having a proper meal at some point during the day.

I have found 16:8 intermittent fasting really helpful. My work always has cakes and biscuits etc but I just avoid them and take fruit. I don't have breakfast but have a banana at around 10.30am. Then a healthy lunch and dinner. I don't feel like I am hungry or missing out and do allow myself the occasional "treat" or meal out. I am 3 stone down now.

I also finding tracking on myfitnesspal really helps me stay mindful about what I am putting in my mouth!

Good luck, hope that helps xx

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 26/02/2024 08:25

Happy Monday everyone, sorry for not being around so much it was half term here. First things first hello and welcome @thesleepyhoglet I totally second Bumble's point about intermitterant fasting I've been doing 16:8 as well, and have found my body got used to it super quickly. My window is noon - 8pm, that might make not snacking on the work snacks easier in the morning and then in the afternoon it might be easier to say no because you'd just had your lunch?

I found writing down everything I was eating to keep a calorie count really helpful it counteracting a tendancy to mindless grazing on food/treats because they're there. Even writing down what you're having so that you can look up the calories later I often found myself going naah why on earth would I want to eat leftover sausage roll just because one of my kids didn't finish it? It just made me think before eating iyswim. I've also found chatting online super useful so stick around we're a nice bunch.

@Bumblebeebum23 sounds like a fantastic weekend! Sounds like you were having a good week so I think that the scales will drop back down as quickly as they went up. I predict you'll be 3 or 4 lbs down next week.

JoeyBK · 26/02/2024 08:30

Well done Bumblebee...exciting for next week too knowing you've seen 12.7 on the scales...but weekends happen so nice to know you still can get a loss.

I'm down 10lbs...might have been down another 2lbs I'd say but I ate a massive portion of chicken wings Saturday night 😋 and made a lovely dip (aldi Brooklee 0% fat Greek yogurt in the pink tub with garlic powder, onion powder and chives 😋😋😋).

I had gotten over the initial hunger of the start of the week (I have a massive appetite & my portion sizes have also been too much...5 brothers, feeder mammy) so I didn't really need all that Saturday night...just habit sitting in with himself watching telle. I'm sticking to plan 100% this week and next as I have a hen night the 9th March so that will set me back.

SW 14.11
Week 1 wi: -10
CW 14.1
TW 10

@thesleepyhoglet like Bumblebee says let us know how your day goes currently so we can support you! Best time to start is now, can't do anything about even a minute ago!!!

Good luck everyone! Xx

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 26/02/2024 08:31

So had a week off while in Butlin's and ate everything, everything!

Scales say I've had a 5lb increase in 1 week but I'm also on my period so I think that's a combo of actual increase and water weight.

Back to the grindstone today, and will see what the scales say next Monday.

JoeyBK · 26/02/2024 08:36

Hi, @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain 5lbs doesn't sound too bad after a week off! Hope you had a lovely holiday. That 5lbs plus 1 or 2 more could be gone next Monday. I find when you put weight on fast like that and then get back on the diet straight away it falls away pretty quickly. Good luck!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 26/02/2024 09:26

Welcome @JoeyBK holey moley you must be over the moon with that drop, what a good start. I absolutely agree the best time is now, learn lessons from the past but don't waste a minute on regret the important truth to focus on is that you are worth taking care of.

OP posts:
stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 26/02/2024 09:29

Well done on having a smashing time at Butlins @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain just refocus now and it'll be back down in a week or two no stress. You're probably right about half of it being water weight from your period.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 26/02/2024 09:30

yes of course you can join @Newyearnewarse hello & welcome

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 26/02/2024 09:39

Estimating portion size is really tricky @Sharksarescary I find it helps to look at the size of the container and nutritional info when I'm not hungry and sort of go 1/4 pot of this pot of coleslaw is x calories, I like pre-sliced cheese and cheese triangles for the portion control element as cheese is a weakness of mine. But I did treat myself to a small digital kitchen scales to weight stuff when the occasion calls for it.

JoeyBK · 26/02/2024 09:51

Thank you @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk , I am delighted...but always expect a big loss the first week on Cambridge...I'm sure it will settle down but still...excited for next week.

I love what you said...so eloquently put!!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 26/02/2024 09:52

So weigh in for me now I've caught up,

SW (3/7/23) 150 kg
SW (1/1/24) 124.0 kg
CW (end of week 8) 115.8 kg (-1.2kg)
Total loss so far this year 8.2 kg in 8 weeks & (34.2 kg in 34 weeks well)

The last couple of three kilos have felt really hard work and really slow (although they really haven't been if you look at the trend) I've just got so far to go still.

NSV - I have a new pair of jeans (size 24) and they feel wonderful, haven't worn jeans in a decade. If anything they're a little big and I could maybe have gotten away with a 22 but I bought them online and they'll do for now. I've decided that in 3 months I'll buy myself a pair of the same jeans in size 20.

To help me keep motivated here are my upcoming mini goals

🎯115kg is my lowest maternity check in weight (approx. 13 years ago)
🎯114.4kg is under 18 stone

🎯112.8kg is 6 stone lost in total
🎯112.5kg = 25% bw loss,
🎯111.3kg = 2 stone lost (since Jan), under 17 1/2 st (and the least I've weighed in at least 20 years)

OP posts:
stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 26/02/2024 09:57

I know some of you like trackers /spreadsheets so this is a bit of a weird one to explain but when I hit the 112.5kg mini goal is the next time I can update my long term targets, and the big milestone box will turn from red to orange, which feels super cool.

5 stone 26 weeks - Anyhow that works for you

BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh · 26/02/2024 10:10

Morning losers 😁

I had a good week and am 2.4kg/just over 5lbs down which is my biggest loss in a while. Delighted to be through the 5st barrier.

In total, I have just over 33kg/5st 3lbs gone since I started in August (29 weeks ago), and 9kg/1st 6lbs since joining this thread 8 weeks ago.

I’ve been tracking EVERYTHING. I know it’s not a runner for a lot of people but it really works for me. I have a little digital kitchen scales and I load everything into My Fitness Pal. I’ve started snacking a little bit more now too as I’d like to get to the stage where I can have an occasional chocolate biscuit like a normal person so I often pre-populate MFP based on what I think I’ll eat for the day just to see where I need to rein it in.

@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk I’m particularly enjoying your updates as we seem to be tag-teaming each other in terms of losses and timelines. You started a little bit before me and it’s been very motivating to see your losses.
I’m also doing the jeans thing! Currently wearing a 20 in the stretchier brands but still 22 in other brands. Next non-scale win will be wearing an item of clothing where the size label starts with a 1.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 26/02/2024 10:25

Thanks @BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh yes I agree about the tag teaming. It's lovely to chat to other people in the same boat as you as you get to feel happy and inspired by their losses as well as your own. So well done (and thank you) for your loss, great stuff!

Next non-scale win will be wearing an item of clothing where the size label starts with a 1. Such things exist and we WILL wear the hell out them!😂

Adooree · 26/02/2024 10:41

Well done to everyone with their losses.
Week 2 for me.

Sw 16 1.5
Cw 15 4
So 3lb off this week. Total 11.5 lbs

JoeyBK · 26/02/2024 10:44

@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk &@BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh

Wow...great losses ladies! I love the spreadsheet...that is so me!! The mini goals are great too.

You're inspirational...I'm so glad I came across this thread.
Xx

Hurryupharry · 26/02/2024 11:01

Hi, I have made a couple of very half hearted attempts to get myself back on track with losing weight but so far I’ve been poor on resolve. And from a pre Christmas low of 97kg I am back up to around 101kg. Not a terrible regain but one I don’t want to succumb to.
It’s my birthday later in the week so I’m going to ease myself in this week and start in earnest next Monday.
I was on the last thread and lost 2st + with the support and encouragement of @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk and @Bumblebeebum23 ( not sure who else is still here?) You’re both doing soooo well!! And @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk your motivational posts, tips and data crunching is brilliant.
I will definitely be here from now on 💪🏻😊

Morred · 26/02/2024 11:44

Official weigh-in day for me. February continues to be much slower weight loss than January but a) lots of January would have been initial water weight (I hope) and I'm still heading in the right direction!

SW (1 Jan): 95.5kg
CW (26 Feb): 90.2kg

That's a loss this week of 0.8kg (though annoyingly I did see 90.0 on the scales last week which would have made a round 1kg...)

This week I should have fewer distractions and get a good week in. I will do a monthly report (for my own geeky satisfaction 🤓) on Thursday/Friday I think. Fingers crossed and I might have made it down into the 80s by then!

Scrabblingaround · 26/02/2024 16:12

Monday weigh in

Start weight 21st
Current weight 19st 6lb
Goal weight 11st
First target 17st

Lost 5lb this week
22lb total loss.

Had to negotiate a day of eating at the weekend-people over for lunch and dinner. Just piled my plate with salad leaves at lunch and had dinner as normal.
Also had a night out with two large glasses of wine, so Im surprised the scale has gone down so much. Not complaining though!

Another half inch off my waist this week too.

Have made it through the 20st barrier, and first whole stone gone!

Scrabblingaround · 26/02/2024 16:14

I'm joining in with the getting under 40bmi mini goal.

That's around 18st3 for me... hoping I might get there for Easter.

Morred · 26/02/2024 16:36

@Scrabblingaround Well done on your first stone gone!
