If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk Can you think of them as exposing how much work your body is doing? I like to pretend I can see my muscles working through my gym gear (even though the actual muscles are actually still hiding under a lot of the other stuff!).

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 08/02/2024 10:11

yes that's a good way of thinking about it @Morred . To a certain extent I am aware that I look much better in them than the old clothes I just feel a bit weird.

Just an update from me and a check-in to say hi to everyone. 👋

After a short plateau, the scales are moving again. I’m now 4st 10lbs (30kgs) down since I started six months ago, and 13lbs (6kgs) down since joining this thread at the start of January.

owlyboo · 08/02/2024 18:48

@BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh well done!! Great!

PlantDoctor · 08/02/2024 19:14

Wow that's amazing @BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh. Sorry, you've probably answered this already, but what approach are you using to lose weight?

Hey @PlantDoctor

I’m on Ozempic which I’ve been very lucky with. I worked out my BMR and stick to a daily calorie limit to stay within a calorie deficit.

I’ve been eating very healthily with lots of fruit and veg, and drink two liters of water a day. I can’t really stomach white bread anymore which is great as I used to eat far too much of it, and I no longer eat chocolate, crisps, or desserts. I also don’t drink calories (except for red wine at the weekends).

I’m quite restrictive in terms of calories, but the Ozempic means I don’t want to eat much anyway.

I do need to exercise more. I really struggle with it.

A typical day of food for me looks like-

Breakfast
Two protein Weetabix with skimmed milk, a banana
or
Big bowl of mixed fruit with low fat Greek yogurt
or
Bowl of porridge made with skimmed milk, protein powder, cinnamon and raisins.

Lunch
Vegetable soup with brown bread
or
Chicken salad with quinoa and vegetables
or
Poached eggs with labneh, spinach, and some mini pitas

For dinner, I’m not as strict but try to not overeat portion-wise. On Tuesday night I had three slices of pizza as we were out, last night I had a vegetable stirfry with brown rice, tonight it’s a turkey burger and some homemade chips done in the airfryer.

I try not to snack but will have fruit and yogurt if I need something.

I tend to feel slightly hungry before meals but generally don’t feel deprived of food at all.

After losing 3lb last week I have stubbornly stayed the same since Sunday
I’m hoping for a ‘ whoosh ‘
trying not to waver and soldering on

Well done on your losses @BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh it's super impressive.

I find if the have a really good week you often get a maintain or tiny loss the week after @KrazyboutKillian but it does all average out.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 09/02/2024 08:16

Morning all, weigh in day for me and another pound lost.

SW 226lb
15/01. 224lb
22/01. 223lb
02/02. 220lb
09/02 219lb

Slow and steady with 1/2 stone in a month but feeling like I've got into a good routine and I'm not missing out on things I enjoy. Had a good week for exercise with my work step challenge starting, apart from yesterday in the snow I've been over 11k steps daily which is high for me (spend my life at a desk or in a car)

Well done everyone!

KrazyboutKillian · 09/02/2024 08:23

After my post last night I have lost 1lb , hopefully my plateau is over and I will continue to lose
so so tempted to say sod it , but kept on plugging on , feeling quite motivated again today

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 09/02/2024 08:29

Down to 209 lb today so that's 2lb so far this week and another couple of days till proper weigh in. Will need to stay on track this weekend which means I'll be having a coffee while DD and her friend eat pizza tomorrow.

Penguinpairs · 09/02/2024 09:19

It's been a funny week for me. After the event on Monday where I only had 2 brownies and chips, I'm been unwell. On Wednesday I really wanted a cheese sandwich and decided to just be kind to myself and accept some weeks will be better than others but while unwell I should cut myself some slack. Anyway, instead of my usual slabs of cheese and pickle I had grated cheese and salad, then a bowl of soup in the evening. Still on 14st 7lb and have been for last 7 days but I'm pleased with that.

Well done English for keeping you your steps. I've set myself a challenge too. Sounds easy to do a few more but it's harder than you think to maintain it!

Reassuring to hear about everyone's losses, hope to join you next week

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 09/02/2024 22:46

Quite right @Penguinpairs

Well done that's good progress @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain @KrazyboutKillian & @EnglishGirlApproximately

Weigh in day for me today. I lost a lb and 3 quarters.
SW 18st 9.5lb
CW 17st 4.5lb
First Goal 15st 7lb
Target weight 12st 7lb
Looks a scary thought writing my target weight down. My next mini goal is to be in 16 stone something. Still plodding along with this being a change for life approach. I've ditched most processed foods. One thing I have noticed is I no longer crave food. It feels weird but hopefully it will last. In the past I've always been thinking about what I can eat next. When can I eat next. Hope you're all having a good week.

Boatshoes · 10/02/2024 08:47

I started IF 3 weeks ago and dropped a stone 🥳 only another 3 to go until I’m top end of “normal” on the BMI chart! Does anyone else have black coffee during their fasting period? I have water, very diluted squash and then the black coffee. I’ve also cut back on carbs / chocolate and not having any dizzy drinks (which was actually easier than I thought!).

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 10/02/2024 12:56

@Boatshoes Does anyone else have black coffee during their fasting period? I still drink pretty much anything (apart from the meal replacement type shakes) during my fasting period.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 10/02/2024 15:25

Well done on your loss @Gabriella83 there seems to be good evidence that ditching (or cutting back as much as possible on) processed foods seems to be a good idea for lots of reasons.

Hi, can I join? I’m 25 weeks to 50 and would like to be healthy and out of the obese category by the time it’s my birthday.

i used to be able to lose weight really easily, but been doing Noom fairly inconsistently for about 6 mths. Lost 7kgs but about 4 have crept back on over Christmas and cause I stopped walking every day because our dog passed away. Used to do 4.5km average walking and also hit the wine pretty hard so I need a reset.

I would like to

  1. increase exercise, consistently do an hour with a PT weekly but want to run more and do more weights/stretching
  2. eat more veg, I eat a lot already as an vegetarian but I eat a lot of pasta and bread too so want to rebalance
  3. build healthy sustainable habits so when life gets in the way I don’t neglect or damage my health.

SW- 93kgs
CW - 89kgs
GW - 60kgs

I drink tea with a tiny splash of milk.

I bought a new dress, two sizes smaller than at Christmas and it's actually a little loose!!! Still enormous, but a bit less enormous!

Hi @Runssometimes welcome, I find your post really relatable tbh. So sorry to hear about your dog that must have been really hard for you.

Thanks @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk i miss him so much but not ready for another one. I just need to get in healthy habits which help me rather than unhealthy ones that feel good at the time (hello, wine and chocolate) that don’t. I won’t give up wine and chocolate but definitely need more balance. I find your replies and tone on this thread really supportive. So thank you!

themuminator · 11/02/2024 16:35

Hi, I just found this thread.

I was previously on Ozempic last year until it started making me really poorly, vomiting and dodgy blood tests. So now I'm doing the Human Being Diet. It is full on and I'm nearing the end of phase 2. But it's so effective and I've lost 9 lbs already.

SW 220.6 - 24/01/24
CW 211.6 - 11/02/24
GW 150

I have to lose weight for mobility reasons following an accident, but I'm doing this for me. Taking control of myself in a way I haven't in decades. Also, not gonna lie, the thought of me thriving will really annoy the stupid bastard ex and that would be so satisfying. 😈

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 11/02/2024 19:38

Hi there @themuminator living well really is the best revenge! Well done on the 9lbs you've lost so far. Sorry to hear you sufffered such side effects with ozempic, the hbd seems safe and sensible as a replacement.
